If I could rate this place a negative 10 I would. Dirty, cracked sink, cracked toilet, duck tape holding broken window together, non working blow dryer. When checked in was told tv service was out. I now see that this has been the case for months! Do not stay here! Pictures on line show a simple but ok place. They are a lie! I only booked here because everything else in the area was booked. We actually considered sleeping in the car! I went to Walmart and bought garbage bags and lined the bed and pillows in plastic and refused to sleep under the covers. It also wasn’t inexpensive. AVOiD, AVOiD, AVOiD. PS I also noticed that the outside elevator hasn’t been inspected since 2023 according to the certificate. Should be shut down!

The pool is very large and deep and the views are amazing...the room left a lot to be desired and is out dated. Most staff were pleasant and helpful.

Rooms clean but pool was questionable. Breakfast offered very little. Areas were not cleaned after others. The breakfast dining area was not cleaned after a prior night meeting. No respect given to the Howard Johnson name and image.

Specifically chose this hotel because they had a pool. For some reason they still did not have it open mid-june because they hadn't got a certification for it though they show it on their website. Also advertise full breakfast with waffles. Great breakfast if you like American cheese slices still wrapped in plastic + eggo waffles. There was a smell to the room probably due to the peeling paint on the bathroom ceiling and walls. Also, the steps leading up to the room. We're broken and dangerous. The cable TV turned out to be three channels. The bed was clean but that was about the only thing that I can say.

Thought it would be a decent place to stay for just the night because of the reviews, but I wouldn’t recommend. They stuck a bandaid on a hotel that needs major repairs. The keycard did not work, continental breakfast was laughable, there were cockroaches as soon as I walked in my room, the restroom is falling apart. Just wanted the night to be over. I needed to wash and the only washer and dryer were not working. Would not stay here ever again.

This hotel did not have a working gym, even though it said it did both when I booked it and when I arrived. They also did not have extra blankets, the toilet would not flush when we arrived and my husband had to fix it. The staff were not so helpful and the overall experience was not at all positive.

Well its not a bad place to stay but needs some serious maintenence. Upon us going to the room i noticed the concrete outside of the elevator was not looking safe to me. It was like it had been raised up from side where two pieces meet. Then i get to the door of the room and the key dont work neither of them. So back to the desk and got the guy to come look at it. After he took apart the lock to fix it. ( which wasnt fixed) told me to hold in on the lock part then slide card in. Took me bout 10 mins to get it to work the next day. 5 days i stayed in this hotel and not once did i get it to work first time. So it rained one day and the 3rd floor roof was leaking through the concrete. Kinda scary if i may say. The room wasnt too bad the ac didnt seem to be super cold like i like but it did its job. Overall its convenient and optical.

The facility is in terrible shape, room smelled of ancient mold, dirty fingerprints on doors, paint flaking on walls, carpet threadbare, upholstery on chair worn through. Family member who was traveling with me would not use the bathroom. Honestly, it’s not clear why the facility is allowed to operate as a Wyndham Hotel.

This was one of the worst places we have ever stayed. The room was filthy, and still had rubbish stuffed behind the locker from previous occupants. Curtains were full of holes and didn't close fully. Holes in the room door were filled with toilet paper. Carpet was covered in stains. The bed had only three tiny squares of material, about the thinkness of a towel, for pillows. The fridge had broken shelves, and congealed milk (I think) pooled in the bottom. The power outlet in the wash space had scorch marks. The bath was full of stains, cracks and scratches. The 'heater' in the bathroom didn't function fully on the the timer. At breakfast, there was no coffee available. The only food out was one cereal option, and some stale waffles - some of which were mouldy. The fridge with milk in felt warm inside. No staff were available at reception to raise any of these issues with. The only icemaker we could find was broken. We selected this place based on price, for a budget overnight stay while travelling. We weren't expecting luxury, but at least a basic level of cleanliness and function.

It was terrible. The first room my family and I were given was on the first floor and smelled absolutely AWFUL!!! It reeked of sewage and had black mold in the bathroom. We received a different room after we complained. That room didn’t smell as bad at first, but the longer you stayed in the room the more you could smell the sewage. Beds felt damp, one of the sheets were stained and there was trash UNDER THE BED!! It was absolutely unacceptable and I’m very upset I wasted my money on this place. We left after 10 minutes and went to another hotel. Absolutely disgusting and wouldn’t recommend to anyone. The only good part was the view from the front, too bad both rooms they gave us were on the back…

This is a dump. In my 50+ years of traveling I’ve never stayed in an uglier place. Bed cover, sheet, and mattress pad all had cigarette burn holes in them - and I was a “non-smoking“ room. The furniture looked like it came from Goodwill. Two of the three drawers in the chest were broken and couldn’t be opened. Past roof leaks were scraped off and painted over - with a different shade of paint. And the worst part was the carpet. It was one big discontinuous stain. This place hasn’t been renovated in decades. Do yourself a favor and just sleep in your car if you can’t find any other place in your budget.

The room looked nothing like the photos online. The paint was peeling off the walls. Cigarette burns all over the side of the tub. A burned hole in the comforter. Carpet was dirty. The door lock outside the door was missing the battery cover so the batteries were exposed.

There is nothing to like about this property. Paid around $150 per night but got frogs and ants in the room, dirty carpets, worn-out power outlets with loose connections, non-working microwave, third-class breakfast, no coffee option in the room or after breakfast in the lobby. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Sink looked it hadn't been cleaned, like someone dumped a full coffee filter down the drain. TV signal had a lot of interference and tv had no HDMI port. Breakfast was sparse and stale at 6:30am (available 6-9am). Ice machine was a countertop unit on the breakfast line. No vending machine. Bed was comfy though. Good toiletry quality.

I just needed an overnight heading back from my Thanksgiving family vacation and didn’t want to spend a whole lot and got what I paid for. The TV had five channel choices HLN CNN FX VH-1 and News Nation. It served its purpose, but I wouldn’t want to stay there very long.

Checking in there was a party going the conference center with loud music and I couldn’t hear the desk clerk. Went to our room and the room had not been cleaned for a new guest. Had to go back to the check in desk to get a new room. After making sure we got a non-smoking room and it smelled like smoke as well and a musk smell, air was not on for a 90 degree day, dead bugs in the bathroom, hair dryer not working, and no working ice machine. Their definition for a hot breakfast was not. They did not have juice or any thing to drink and they had cold gravy and cold biscuits. There was only 4 channels to watch on the tv.

The view from the room is incredible, room was clean, but we had three grandkids with us, and the tv had 3 PBS channels, im sure I could’ve went to the office to find out why, but it was 2:00 am, and I was too tired for the hassle, bathroom has a very small toilet and needs painting, it’s peeling all over, was convenient on and off the highway, and the price was right for a few hours of sleep on a long drive,,

The furniture was great. Newer beds and bedding, nice nightstands, etc. Once you enter the bathroom area it’s a different story. Paint peeling off the walls, toilet seat half on, cigarette burns on the bathtub, shower head sprays water out the sides and is terrible need of replacement etc. The stay was otherwise fine

I had already been 1 week before in this hotel to use it as a half -destination stop. The experience was very good. There were not many people at the hotel and there was no noise. They say in the hotel promotion they offer breakfast but it is very limited. It is more than a quick and go. Upon returning home I stopped to spend the night as a midpoint of destination. I chose the same room again. The front desk attendance that attended me was very kind. The room was clean again but noticed a strange smell but did not give importance. As at 9pm when I open the bathroom door I felt a smell of strong marijuana smoke that came out through the ventilation duct of the bathroom. I know the hotel has no control of that but thanks to the situation my stay was not the best as in the previous occasion.

The young lady at the front desk was rude and did not have a pleasant attitude. I inquired if i could check in early and was told that i had to pay 35 dollars extra. This was the second weekend that i stayed there. I will not stay there again due to the not being able to check in early. I asked for early check in when i reserved the room due to working nights and i am a day sleeper. The room i was in was clean and the bed was comfortable it had a microwave that i could not plug in so i could not heat up any food. The TV remote was missing, and the housekeeper gentle man took care of without any problem he also wrote down the TV channels for me he was very helpful. .

The worst motel experience ever. Front desk staff rude , wouldn’t honor our hotel.com reservation of two rooms and charged us regular rate for other “smoking room” ( who still has those???). We walked past several patrons who were getting high outside their hotel on the way to our rooms. Graffiti everywhere. We did not feel safe and the door wouldn’t even open. Visiting for our daughters graduation and immediately requested full refund. Truly, worst experience after a long traveling day. Luckily, we found much better accommodations for half the price.

Hotel needs some exterior upgrades. It felt a bit sketchy from the outside. Interior looks to have been painted, new decor. Bed was comfortable. Between 1 and 2am other guests were loud, fighting, in and out of cars, banging on doors and loud noises in the room. Went to check out at 6am and front door was locked. I rang the bell and after about 5 minutes a young man appeared and I told him I was checking out. He stood at the front door and took my key. I asked if I was all set and he said yes. Never offered a receipt. I walked away and he relocked the front door. Young man at check in was super nice. Though he never gave details about breakfast or any other amenities.

Do not stay here! It is a creepy place. The front desk person seemed clueless. The first room we were given was a mess. It looked like someone was living there. The second room was clean, but showed neglect. The hair dryer was missing and there were sloppy repairs to the walls. The breakfast was practically nonexistent.

I arrived at 2:10pm and the lobby was completely empty. I tried to check in and the clerk told me that check in was not until 3:00 and I could either wait or pay an extra $45 for "early check in". No one was working on cleaning any of the rooms by that point, and it was really pathetic customer service. Then, when I did check in, they tried to tell me that they had no rooms with 2 doubles available- only kings. Despite the fact I had reserved a room with 2 doubles and made my reservation months earlier. After arguing with them, they mysteriously found that there was a room with 2 doubles after all. I've stayed at this hotel multiple times for VT football games and never had a problem until this year. I'm sure this place was nice in it's prime, the location is beautiful, but the property is worn down now and needs a remodel, everything was done in the cheapest way possible from the 2-ply toilet paper, to the pipes squeaking the whole time the water came out in the shower, to the TVs only having a few channels with extreme static, to advertizing free breakfast only to go down there and there was none. Nor was there an attendant at the desk to ask about it. It was fine to crash for a night, but def should be in the price range of a motel 6 or super 8 bc the quality just wasnt there. Granted, we only paid $109 but it was more of a $50-60 experience.

I needed a hotel room for my visit to VA tech on Parents Weekend. At 30 minutes away from campus this worked perfectly. It was affordable compared to all the rooms closer to Blacksburg and worked perfectly. Nothing fancy but a clean quiet motel. The view from the hotel parking lot is incredible as the properly is up on a ridge overlooking the valley. I would stay there again.

This was one of the worst places we have ever stayed. The room was filthy, and still had rubbish stuffed behind the locker from previous occupants. Curtains were full of holes and didn't close fully. Holes in the room door were filled with toilet paper. Carpet was covered in stains. The bed had only three tiny squares of material, about the thinkness of a towel, for pillows. The fridge had broken shelves, and congealed milk (I think) pooled in the bottom. The power outlet in the wash space had scorch marks. The bath was full of stains, cracks and scratches. The 'heater' in the bathroom didn't function fully on the the timer. At breakfast, there was no coffee available. The only food out was one cereal option, and some stale waffles - some of which were mouldy. The fridge with milk in felt warm inside. No staff were available at reception to raise any of these issues with. The only icemaker we could find was broken. We selected this place based on price, for a budget overnight stay while travelling. We weren't expecting luxury, but at least a basic level of cleanliness and function.

Original room had crap in the sink with no stopper in it. Only 7 channels on the tv. Moved to another room on 2nd floor. Room key did not work correctly. Took about 5 minutes and many tries to finally open the door. Breakfast was a joke. Cold waffles that needed toasted. Just sausage patties. Won't be staying at this place ever again!

Specifically chose this hotel because they had a pool. For some reason they still did not have it open mid-june because they hadn't got a certification for it though they show it on their website. Also advertise full breakfast with waffles. Great breakfast if you like American cheese slices still wrapped in plastic + eggo waffles. There was a smell to the room probably due to the peeling paint on the bathroom ceiling and walls. Also, the steps leading up to the room. We're broken and dangerous. The cable TV turned out to be three channels. The bed was clean but that was about the only thing that I can say.

The breakfast was terrible. The first day they had frozen waffles, egg patties, biscuits, sausage gravy and cereal with no milk. Also, no cream for the coffee and if you wanted tea you had to heat up your water in the microwave. The second day they still had no cream or milk and no plates! No one was around to ask for them. The door handle came off in our hands trying to open the door to get out! Other than that, the view was great!

This property is the type of property one believes only exists on TV murder mysteries. It looks like every seedy motel on every crime drama. (Like where the murders happen) We got last minute Virginia Tech football tickets and every hotel in a 60 mile radius was sold out...except this one. Now we know why. The lobby area has faded, chipped paint, wall hangings/signs falling off the wall, dirty floor, etc. The breakfast/lounge area is complete with three "games of skill" machines, a pool table, and plenty of dust and dirt. The walkways leading to the rooms are littered with trash and broken furniture. Exit signs are smashed, "patio chairs" outside the rooms are strewn all over the place. The room was absolutely gross. The carpet was filthy, the walls were covered with dust bunnies (this was actually a positive because at first we thought they were bugs), the phone was located on the floor, the lovely 1973 artwork was half on the wall and half off with the half that was off being decoratively wedged between the wall and the nightstand. The bed was hard but the sheets were clean-ish. The pillows were like flat rocks. Bath towel had blood stain, refrigerator was filthy & moldy. Thankfully, my wife and I had a sense of humor about it all and laughed our way through the night. The staff was nice enough and you could feel their embarrassment for working here. This property is an absolute disgrace and Wydham should be embarrassed to have their name associated with it.

If you're hoping for a good, no....half decent night sleep, this is NOT the hotel for you. The most uncomfortable beds, with a pancake flat pillow which provides absolutely no support. The bathroom from the 50s still had a used wash cloth, probably from the previous guests (... they must have departed the horror of the rm in a hurry lol) hanging on the shower curtain rod... pretty gross! The towels are as hard as cardboard an stained... and just as disgusting looking. You most definitely do not want that close to your body, let alone, touching it. Well, maybe I should have started with the "welcome center" aka lobby. The staff was professional, confused but good mannered, an odd stale moldy smell hits you once the door opens. First sign things were not looking positive. But we were desperate and hoping for better rooms. Btw, 1st year VT parents coming to Blacksburg for the VT family weekend. Just about every hotel was booked and we were down on our luck. Because of this experience, I'll be booking our Spring family visit at least 6 months in advance... lesson learned. I'll rather stay in my car than come back to this hotel. Back to the lobby, it was dark, cold, dingy and just lacked personality, non inviting. I don't think anything has been changed or cleaned in there since it was built back in the 50s or 60s. Motel8 is a better lodging motel than this. And lastly, this is a motel, listing Howard Johnson as a hotel is a stretch imo. Beware!

If you're hoping for a good, no....half decent night sleep, this is NOT the hotel for you. The most uncomfortable beds, with a pancake flat pillow which provides absolutely no support. The bathroom from the 50s still had a used wash cloth, probably from the previous guests (... they must have departed the horror of the rm in a hurry lol) hanging on the shower curtain rod... pretty gross! The towels are as hard as cardboard an stained... and just as disgusting looking. You most definitely do not want that close to your body, let alone, touching it.
