Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen Adults Only All Inclusive

The pool side staff was excellent setting us up with cabanas and offering drinks. Two of the three specialty dining options required you to leave site to get to. We stayed at this same resort many years ago when it was under a different name and included kids. So glad they changed to adult’s only. The beach area was unfortunately inundated with the rotten smelling seaweed infestation affecting all the resorts at the moment.

Would stay again but really annoyed by the chair hogs at the pool. Wish they would crack down on them since there aren’t enough chairs when it’s busy. Food was good, rooms are great buy noisy. Beds were very firm but I knew that going in. So convenient to everything and staff is top notch.

The rooms are nice. Food was OK. The parking was not good. You had to pay for the parking from 10 A.M. to 4pm and then he had to go back to the meter and pay from 4 to 10 P.M. The parking meters only took change Mexican coinsor else they would put a boot on your car. Also, there’s not beach access to this hotel.

The resort was beautiful, very clean, and the staff were amazingly kind and helpful. We were greeted with drinks and a "welcome home" upon check-in. There are plenty of options for food, seriously if you're hungry while there, it's your own fault. If you're a big drinker, bars are only open starting at 10 am and close at 11 pm each night. They have nightly entertainment at 8 pm, and there are plenty of other activities scheduled throughout the day. The rooms were clean and spacious, but echo badly due to the long hallways outside and the tall ceilings in the room. Bring ear plugs, or you'll be awakened several times at night with people closing doors or carts/luggage rolling down the hall. I will say the pictures of beach are very misleading. It is a VERY small swath of beach and it is right next to the ferry/pier to Cozumel so the water is muddy/rocky and not very good for swimming. If you're looking for a hotel with a great beach, this is not the one for you. The main pool is amazing though, and there's a smaller pool up on the 3rd floor if you'd prefer a quieter location. Pool towels open at 7:30 am and if you want a chair with a shade or one under an umbrella, you better be up early to claim your spot. The pool cabanas are not free at the pool or the beach, so prepare to pay if you want one of those. Lastly, bring cash for tips.

Amazing staff, relaxing spa, great food!

The bedroom mattresses were hard and uncomfortable. The bedrooms were clean & had nice towels. The sand beach is not swimming-able. You have to walk left, cross the street from the resort to find a good swimming beach, once you arrive there you have NO beach chairs or beach services. (you are literally using other resort beach areas, you cannot sit in their chairs). If you walk longer than half mile you find “rental chair option = 55 dollars a day, including some over charged food & drinks (a bottle of water for 11 dollars). The good beach area is full of local people, some begging for money, like homeless people. Different cruises docked in the sea, and they send, by a big boat, tons of people to the “Pear” next to this resort. Right in front of our hotel tons of tourism buses and vans stay there waiting for the cruise people. Two out three a la carte resort restaurants access, are through the street, unsafe during the evenings. But these restaurants, the Mexican & Italian have delicious food & great services. The Positive Part is a laid back resort. Easy going vacation! The snack bar is open 24 hours. Coffee shop is open from early morning to late evening. They have great coffee and, Lidia, is incredible! Nice swimming pool service with amazing waiters. The Brasa, steak restaurant was hot and they turned off the ceiling fans. The Mexican restaurant had a nice outdoor “forest” breeze. The Italian restaurant “Bella” offered option with nice air conditioner or outdoor.

Very clean hotel and great food! Not much of a beach area to speak of, but you can easily walk north to find better beach areas - just beware of using other hotels beach chairs or they will ask you to leave. The hotel (like most in the area) is build out of concrete - the walls are so thick you cannot hear anything next to you or above. The food really is excellent, we liked the Italian and Steak places the best. You can order more than 1 entree without an issue. However, there is a surcharge for some specialty items (premium wine, lobster, etc.) if you choose - we did not do this. Make sure to make dinner reservations at the 3 onsite restaurants (buffet does not need a reservation) well before dinner if you want a decent time. When we were there you could make reservations 2 days ahead of time, it would suffice to make reservations the morning of to get a time of your choosing. There was a lot of seaweed along the beach(es) which was cleaned up daily but was present throughout on the beach and in the water. If you like pristine clean water without seaweed - the Playa del Carmen coast is not for you. If you like doing a little exploring in the water, I would recommend bringing water shoes for the beach at this hotel. We were able to check out of our room at the hotel's check out time of 11am, but they gave us wristbands to continue using the hotel amenities like food/drinks until we had to leave for the airport - this was super nice and convenient.

No real beach

Didn't have hot water for entire stay and this is completely unacceptable. The front desk personnel weren't helpful and we were only told "maintenance is working it." Looking at other current reviews, this seems to be an ongoing issue that we could have been warned about. This is a shame as the hotel service staff (waiters, entertainers, etc.) were exceptional. They really went all out to take care of you. In addition, the property is conventionally located in Playa. Our only other caution is that there really isn't a beach at the property, only a very small patch of sand. I wouldn't book a stay here until they address the hot water issues.

They never told us the resort was out of hot water and led us on for 3 days. Hot water started working the day before check out. No type of accommodations were extended until I went to the lobby and had a fit. Not enough entertainment, and the entertainment they did have was so boring. This resort was more like senior living. The food was amazing, and the resort was very clean, rooms were very nice and comfortable. Resort is so far away from everything. Transportation cost a lot to go nowhere.

Faultless hotel, amazing food with great variety of choices, excellent staff, room was spotless.

The place looked just like the photos which I appreciated. It was also conveniently located with all the action about 1-2 blocks away. The food was good for an all inclusive. Here are the cons and why I rated a 3: - There was no hot water at all. They said it was a boiler issue but imagine taking cold showers for a few days. - You hear everything. The hallways are loud at night with people passing by, I even heard someone snoring in the next room. For two to three days it’s a good value IF they have hot water.

En unas vacaciones uno quiere descansar y a su vez sentirse en casa, sin embargo nos tuvimos que bañar con agua fría toda la semana, y nos dijeron que solo llevaba 1 semana fallando, cuando el personal nos dijo que era más de un mes. No daban respuesta ni solución, y la estadía no es económica. De no ser por eso, lo recomendaría, pero debido a la situación, no me volvería a arriesgar.

Not a 5 star hotel for these reasons: 1. There was no hot water! 7 days & it came back for an aft then gone again. Based on other reviews it was gone for weeks which is ridiculous. 2.made smart TV dumb.(no apps, no HDMI, no casting ability just sat tv) 3.Pictures show the hotel from yrs ago, the beach is gone. They have a tiny fraction of what's left of the public beach that runs up to the north edge of the hotel, but it's so small it's very busy and it was covered in seaweed. 4. All inclusive isn't as inclusive as you'd think. The drinks were terrible. They hide basement quality liquor with juice &makes every cocktail a slushy. Tequila was undrinkable in shot form. Even El jimador/1800 is an upcharge. The restaurants only open at 6-10pm and require reservations only made at one desk in lobby from 9-5pm. No walk-ins even when theyr empty. At least offer lunch times! Cabanas are an 80 USD!! upcharge PER DAY. There are NO free cabanas &they dominate a ring around the pool and they're always empty so it's a complete waste & just ruin the experience for everyone. is friendly (pool staff are not attentive unless you bribe them and are a larger group.Couples largely go ignored. 5. Room door doesn't fit, can see straight through the side &it's very noisy The good: 1. Classical hotel with large rooms cleaning staff are great. 2. Terrible experience. We had no hot water—only one day we were actually able to take a proper shower. Every time we asked about it, staff told us it would be fixed “in two hours,” but it never happened. We were never reimbursed, and when we tried to change hotels after the first day, they refused to refund us. It’s insane to expect guests to stay in these conditions. Unfortunately, I strongly advise never booking this hotel.So regret we have to leave without shower can you imagine this is ridiculous!!!!

Never had a hot shower or even a warm shower and one day we couldn't even take a cold shower as the water was down to a trickle.

The resort was wonderful. The suite was spacious, clean, and beautiful. Most of the staff, especially the servers and bartenders, were great. The area felt safe and quiet to walk around.

Just left Alltra. What a beautiful hotel. I loved all of the architecture and the grounds are very clean. We upgraded to an ocean view with a nice big balcony. The room is really pretty and very clean. The bathroom was very nice and a great shower. Hot and lots of pressure. The foam party was so much fun. The pool was the cleanest pool I’ve ever seen at an all inclusive resort. The service at all restaurants/bars/pool was excellent. The location is perfect. 2 blocks off 5th Avenue. The small beach was nice and cute bar on the beach. We had to search for it at first but once we found it, it was great. Roof top pool also. We didn’t get in. I would definitely recommend this hotel as it is perfect. My only complaint was the guacamole was made with oil. Who puts oil in guacamole?? Apparently people do that in Playa at a few restaurants. First time staying at a Wyndham outside the US. The location was not desirable; it’s in a commercial area. Very loud when we weary trying to enjoy sitting on the balcony and up to after 10pm. We asked for alcohol to be removed from the room prior to arrival by emailing the property and got a confirmation response. We still received alcohol that was stocked in the mini fridge. It happened three times, then after we advised the concierge to stock it with Coke, Sprite & water, we didn’t get any more until we called every day. The main complaint is that we were invited to this “pyramid” scheme to buy into a program. This happened once before at another location. It started when we first checked in. A sit down meeting with whom i presumed was the concierge. He offered a discount on spa treatments, a resort credit etc… he talked us in to meet for breakfast the second day. We did agree, however when we met in the lobby the day after check-in, we cancelled. The harassment began after that. Every time we saw him, he tried to talk us in to going to this program to buy in to. I continued to say NO, but he insisted on approached us every time he saw us, right up to our last day. I would not recommend this hotel (I say that because it did not really meet the criteria for a resort) to anyone. The housekeeping staff were excellent, as well as the one restaurant on site for breakfast, lunch & dinner. I can certainly rate the barista at the coffee shop. Mariana needs recognition she’s great

My stay at this property was unbelievably bad. The hotel had no hot water for our entire stay, meaning we couldn’t take a normal shower or even wash up without getting severe headaches from the freezing water. Hot water is a basic requirement for any hotel, let alone one that advertises itself as a luxury adults-only property. The worst part wasn’t even the lack of hot water — it was the management’s attitude. I dealt with two on-site managers, José and Juan, and both were rude, unprofessional, and completely dismissive. Instead of offering solutions or taking responsibility, they actually made comments like: - “Cold water is good for your skin.” - “You should try showering with cold water! it’s healthier.” - “We’re giving you food and a nice pool, so maybe give us a little slack.” - “We can’t do anything else. You just have to wait.” These were their real responses to a hotel failing to provide basic hygiene necessities. No empathy, no professionalism, and no attempt to offer accommodations or compensation. As if that weren’t enough, the property claims to be adults only, yet the beach area was full of kids every day. It honestly seemed like staff were letting friends and family in through the beach access, completely undermining what guests are paying for. Overall, this was one of the worst and most mismanaged hotel experiences I’ve ever had. No hot water, staff who mock your concerns, false advertising, and zero accountability.

The parking situation is awful; there is only paid street parking that requires peso coins plugged into a meter. No one could help us get change and the front desk employees awkwardly laughed at me. We spent 3 hours dealing with parking of a 26 hour stay. Then the parking attendant put a boot on our rental even when we had paid! There was zero assistance from the hotel. We booked dinner reservations but they were not recorded at the restaurant.

The service here is excellent, accommodations are clean and the food was good and fresh. The only thing that soured me was that on arrival regardless how many times I said no, I was kept in an office rather than checked in for additional sales opportunities. Then I was further delayed while i was told my room was ready but needed to be “refreshed”. They waited outside bathroom for me to bring my daughter and myself to yet another desk to try to get me to do timeshare presentation. I had just travelled 8 hours after leaving my home with zero sleep in 36 hours due to the flight time and I was tired and wanted the beach that it was too late to see by the time they were done. This put a damper on the entire stay. Would I return? Probably not, sadly. First impressions are lasting.

This is are 7th time staying there. Jorge, and the other Jorge, Jesus, Jose, Pablo, Jaime and Mauricio AMAZING!! The staff is always cleaning and rooms are nice and clean. Will be back soon!

The staff are super well trained to help in any way and always greet you with their hand on their heart and a friendly smile. Also the food was very good.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my stay at Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen was so disappointing that I feel other travelers should know what to expect. The property is beautiful and most of the staff were friendly, but the service failures were unacceptable, especially for a resort at this price point. 1. No Hot Water for 3 Days For THREE days straight, my room had no hot water. I had to take cold showers in the morning and at night, despite reporting the problem multiple times. Nothing was resolved, and I was never offered another room or any compensation for the inconvenience. 2. Lost Money in the On-Site ATM I used the resort’s ATM and it took my money without dispensing cash. I reported it immediately, and the staff told me to send an email with the details. I did that right away — and never heard back from anyone. No follow-up, no update, nothing. 3. Black Wristband Confusion At check-in, I was given a black wristband, and not a single employee could explain what it meant. Every person I asked gave a different or vague answer. It made the whole experience feel disorganized and unprofessional. Between the cold showers, the unreturned money, and the lack of communication, this was easily one of my most frustrating hotel experiences in years. Wyndham is supposed to stand for quality, but this stay fell far below that standard. I hope the property improves its customer service, maintenance issues, and overall communication.

Mooie locatie, vriendelijke bediening, goede kwaliteit van het eten en drankjes. Alleen jammer dat het strand aan het hotel zelf erg klein en minder goed gelegen is. Je kan wel naar het strand bij de nabijgelegen hotels die wel mooie stranden hebben, maar dan kan je natuurlijk niet genieten van de barservice.

Second stay this year, and although there were some differences from July to October, the overall experince was still great. Clean and spacious rooms. Great location and food options. Staff is the best!

I loved this property because it was in the heart of Playa Del Carmen. Amazing resort, very clean, 10/10 staff, and location was perfect. Nice big rooms, new sliding glass doors (made the room quiet), and property felt well maintained. The staff were the stars of the show for sure!

We have stayed here several times. We love the location and the smaller size of the resort. Food is good for the most part. The Italian restaurant is our favorite. Their coffee bar taste like Starbucks and all the staff is very nice. We didn’t like the new $10 room service fee or the no alcohol until 11am.

Disappointing experience for an adults-only all-inclusive. The bars don’t open until 11 a.m., and all restaurants close by 10 p.m. Although the snack bar is advertised as open until 11–11:30 p.m., there was no food or beverages available when we went. The hotel itself feels dated, and we had to switch rooms because the electricity wasn’t working in ours. There’s no real beach access, and activities are very limited. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t return to this resort.

The food and the restaurants really stood out. Also clean room and the staff.

I have been to all inclusive resorts in St. Lucia and Punta. We came to Playa Del Carmen with my first opportunity to walk off a resort and go into town. These were MY opinions. PROS: This was a smaller resort. There was no grand entry or big stage entertainment but we were pleasantly surprised by less chaos and there was still entertainment. Lounge chairs were always available for the pool areas. The room and building were clean, up-to-date and impressive. Our room was an oceanfront with a hammock which was relaxing. We loved the food in the buffet as we felt it was more authentic than other resorts we had been too. The steakhouse was our second favorite. We walked 5th Avenue a couple nights and also walked to the ferry to snorkel in Cozumel. I suggest doing it on your own and not through an excursion on the resort. We did both and while Cozumel was sketchy at first as we picked the first counter off the ferry, it was cheaper, authentic and they took pictures for $60 vs. $120. Plus the snorkeling is the best in Cozumel. CONS: Did not like the Mexican restaurant. ALL drinks are made out of a drink mix which was so disappointing given the abundance of fruit available. My favorite drink is a pina colada and I was so disappointed to not have fresh pineapple juice and coconut cream mixes. My husband likes strawberry mojitos which only had strawberry syrup--no fresh strawberries. Summer seems to be sea weed season. Pool beds need to be rented.

The pool facilities were excellent and the waiters and staff were great. Only disappointed with the restaurants, especially Zappe the Mexican restaurant, the food was very bland and mediocre. Also the other restaurants were closed a lot

The staff very friendly. The breakfast buffet was good, the a la carte restaurant were outstanding. Pool was nice and washrooms were clean.
