Aufenthalt für 2 Nächte

This was a convenient, yet quiet, place to spend a couple of nights relatively close (for an American) to Inverness. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and had great views. If visiting in warm weather, no A/C might be an issue for you, but the windows open and we were comfortable in September. On-site breakfast and restaurant were very handy and tasty. Easy parking. If it had a lift/elevator, it would be perfect.

We loved Mansfield Castle, great breakfast and dinner along with optional cocktails and tea in the afternoon, which we missed. I gave it four stars because my only complaint was the 5000 year old mattress we slept on. Just kidding on the age:). The mattress was just well past its age and although we were in an old “castle”, having to lie in a bed feeling every popped coil was very uncomfortable. I hope it’s on the list to replace soon. But I’d stay there again, we were in room number one.

From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. You’ll struggle to find a more welcoming and service-minded host. This is a hotel with soul and history, and I have no qualms about recommending it.

The hotel is extremely dated. Note that there is a large annex, so if you are in a “garden” room, you are not staying in the castle, it is an outdated 1980s annex. The bathroom had a sink that had been broken and poorly glued back together and a very dirty fan. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and could have used a mattress topper. You feel every spring in the mattress. The entire hotel also had a very musty smell. The actual castle portion has potential to be very beautiful, but some investment is needed in the property. This hotel is also not cheap!!! For the price a much more elevated experience is expected.
