Great historic building, quiet area with beautiful surroundings. Our room had some minor issues with heating but staff provided a mobile heater. Other minor issue was we had a slightly leaky sink, which we reported, otherwise a great room in a building with a lot of character. This place is popular for weddings, there was one going on on our 2nd day there, so it can get quite busy at times.

Rooms were dated and dusty. Pull out beds for kids were uncomfortable and noisy. Certainly not luxury as the hotel describes itself. Staff were trying to multitask throughout the hotel leaving people stood waiting at the bar for lengthy periods. Reception, Bar and restaurant area is nice.

The hotel is in such a beautiful setting! It was lovely to wake up and see the rolling hills of the Peak District in the morning. The staff were lovely and the breakfast in the morning was great. However, the high chair we were given for our little one at breakfast could have done with a wipe over. The lift wasn’t working during our stay which made things tricky with the car seat but it didn’t ruin the stay. Overall, a lovely stay and would highly recommend!

Grand, period building, sitting in its own grounds, looks out over sumptuous countryside and close to tourist attractions and towns, ideal for weekend breaks. The staff are friendly, polite and very helpful. We booked a room only rate, but strongly recommend eating in the CASA Resteraunt, where the food we enjoyed was the best Italian cuisine we've ever had. The room had a big bed, was very comfortable and offered good value for money. The lift came in handy to get our suitcases up to the 2nd floor, and the large, private car park was within easy reach of the front door.

Really impressive building, architecturally fully of history. Lovely, welcoming and super hospitable and respectful staff. A bit of a family feel to the place. Warm, comfy, spacious and great shower. Super accommodating of dogs with treats, bowls and bins. Dogs even permitted in the restaurant! I didn’t try the restaurant but breakfast menu looked lovely. In terms of value for money - excellent. Highly recommend.

Hotel is very dated and in need of a serious revamp. The electrical sockets with multiple adapters were very concerning and the bedroom windows! Some of the staff were very friendly but others not so. Parking was a nightmare as our two night stay clashed with a party and a wedding; parking down a big hill not perfect!

Recently enjoyed a 2nt stay for a family wedding. The staff are simply the best - across the board from the reception, restaurant team, bar staff, function 'master of ceremony' - even the housekeeping team, could not have been more friendly, professional, helpful, courteous and keen to go above and beyond the make ours and the rest of the guests stay a thoroughly excellent experience. Without being seen or heard, the back of house team knocked it out of the park because their efforts enabled everything to play out seamlessly at front of house - well done all of you! Particular shout out to Katti who looked after us at breakfast and could not have been more helpful. Yes, the rooms are a little dated but were clean, comfortable and gave all the expected facilities (tea/coffee/biscuits etc. TV, hairdryer, iron, very comfortable bed, bath /shower, toiletries & good towels). If you're wanting 5*, spend 3x more and go elsewhere but this place gave everything we could need at a very affordable price. We had an absolute ball and look forward to the next opportunity to stay here again.

It smelt. The key card wouldnt work. The sink was chipped, the carpet was ripped. The bathroom was dirty. The furniture was covered in dust. We paid 128 pounds for 1 night. Ive taken pictures because the bathroom floor would have been dangerous for a child. It had all sharp off cuts.

The rooms were full of damp and mould. The mould was visible on the walls and the damp has made the wallpaper blow and peel in some areas. The smell of this issue was awful. Our other issue was I booked 4 weeks in advance and asked if the family room which sleeps 4, which the picture indicated 1 x double and 2 x single beds but the description didn’t state this. I asked if there was enough beds for 4 when I booked as otherwise I could cancel for free. I received a reply at 3:09 the day before we arrived, so 9 minutes after I could cancel for free, telling me that there is only one additional bed therefore that meant one child has nowhere to sleep. The receptionist was the best part of the stay, she arranged for us to have interconnecting rooms so we all had a bed and she was a credit to the hotel. Everything about the stay was awful. Aside from the damp and mould the quilt was comfy, the pillows were ok and the mattress was rock hard. Also the room walls and ceilings are thin and as we stayed on a Saturday night and there was a wedding, around 1-2am when people came back to their rooms, above us and to the side all you could hear were people having ‘fun times’.

Beautiful building from outside but inside a little tired around the edges. The bedroom was fine (if a little hot even with window open) but the bathroom definitely needs an upgrade-dirty grout and sealant and worn/dirty floor, no toilet roll holder. Bar area good and nice lounge seating. Breakfast buffet pretty good. Relatively good value for money (although Saturday is significantly more expensive than other nights). Would still use again if in the area

Lovely stay at Hollins Hotel overlooking the Peak District. Our room was very spacious and opulent! The staff were extremely welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. The hotel was clean and decorated beautifully for Christmas and the food good. Will definitely stay again.

Dirty the dust in the room was an actual joke, the staff were rude (except lady who checked us in) waited over half hour for the buffet to be replenished for breakfast, ended up with no breakfast as had to leave before they replenished - would not stay again and I’m not fussy but was a poor stay

The front exterior and restaurant was beautiful. The staff were really nice. Unfortunately our room smelt, was dated and we were kept awake by people talking till 3am and dog barking.

We stayed one night in a family room. Our daughter’s bed was absolutely tiny and very poor condition. It was a tiny one seat sofa bed and the mattress was very thin. Daughter complained she could feel the spring of the mattress as it was so thin. Our bed for myself and husband was great. It was a super king four poster bed. Room itself was clean but very dated. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was ok but only one type of coffee from a dispenser. No cappucino or latte on offer.

hotel friendly enough. bar and restaurant lovely. i was in the wing off the restaurant. there is a mean little door, a shabby cold corridor to get to it, the room was quite shabby and badly designed. the bed light switches were hard to reach from the bed and were really bright spotlights. the plug socket near the bed would not accept a plug. The other sockets were the other side of the room which made charging my phone over night difficult. The armchair was the wrong side of the room for sitting in to watch the tv. The bedding was worn, with worn frayed patches. all in all it just felt old and tired.

Stayed here for one night. Upon check-in the outside / entrance way / downstairs all looked wonderful so we were excited to see our room. Our room was a massive disappointment. Window facing onto the backend of the building, view of a flat roof. Only one plug socket we could find (?), bedside lamps broken, dated decor and furniture, didn’t seem cleaned properly. We did find a beetle/bug in the room but hoping that was a one off from outside as we didn’t see any more. Poorly soundproofed - could hear everything from adjacent rooms and the corridor. We were out for most of the evening and only got back at 1am so didn’t want to cause disruption by complaining or requesting a room change, however we both firmly agreed we would not return again. Couldn’t give this feedback in person as there was no-one manning the desk upon check-out time! On one positive breakfast was very decent for £8 each. So much potential as the outside of the building is lovely and surrounding area. I bet some rooms have wonderful views, but not room 39! What a shame overall.

The reception was lovely friendly staff, the bar and restaurants looked beautiful. The room we stayed in the Brooke suit, very big and huge lovely windows but however, it was old and dated, thread bear carpets, the couch had also seen better days and the curtains were very very faded. The four poster bed has lost two of its posts, there were stains on the walls, also mould and staines on the ceiling where at some point it leaked. The bathroom was lovely and great shower and bath, but the cracked sink let it down. The bed was very comfy and towels and linen was clean. We had breakfast included and it also was a little disappointing felt we were at a budget hotel nothing jumped out typical help yourself breakfast but not a wide selection. For what you expect and pay for a fancy hotel it missed the mark and it’s a shame it could be such a lovely place just needs TLC.

Recently enjoyed a 2nt stay for a family wedding. The staff are simply the best - across the board from the reception, restaurant team, bar staff, function 'master of ceremony' - even the housekeeping team, could not have been more friendly, professional, helpful, courteous and keen to go above and beyond the make ours and the rest of the guests stay a thoroughly excellent experience. Without being seen or heard, the back of house team knocked it out of the park because their efforts enabled everything to play out seamlessly at front of house - well done all of you! Particular shout out to Katti who looked after us at breakfast and could not have been more helpful. Yes, the rooms are a little dated but were clean, comfortable and gave all the expected facilities (tea/coffee/biscuits etc. TV, hairdryer, iron, very comfortable bed, bath /shower, toiletries & good towels). If you're wanting 5*, spend 3x more and go elsewhere but this place gave everything we could need at a very affordable price. We had an absolute ball and look forward to the next opportunity to stay here again.

In check in i had to stand for over 5 minutes before someone came to see me, despite 3 members of staff walking past me without acknowledgement. The room was tired and dated and the bed was old and uncomfortable. The temperature was unbareable and when i asked the two members of staff that i found sitting around downstairs, they said its the heating is on a timer so just open the window. The heating stayed on full all night, in June. It was awful. The matress was old and the springs made loads of noise and we got very little sleep.

Hotel seems to suffer from lack of staff. Waited over an hour to be served for dinner although apology came in the form of complimentary meal/drink. Breakfast equally challenged and coffee was highly unpleasant. Staff were very sweet but challenged. Bed was very comfortable

Arrive early evening, no one on reception, reception appeared and said give me a minute and disappeared again, turns out she had go for bar supplies, and left me standing there. 5 minutes later she reappeared and checked me in which took 2 minutes. Otherwise the stay was excellent.

The hotel is in such a beautiful setting! It was lovely to wake up and see the rolling hills of the Peak District in the morning. The staff were lovely and the breakfast in the morning was great. However, the high chair we were given for our little one at breakfast could have done with a wipe over. The lift wasn’t working during our stay which made things tricky with the car seat but it didn’t ruin the stay. Overall, a lovely stay and would highly recommend!

Grand, period building, sitting in its own grounds, looks out over sumptuous countryside and close to tourist attractions and towns, ideal for weekend breaks. The staff are friendly, polite and very helpful. We booked a room only rate, but strongly recommend eating in the CASA Resteraunt, where the food we enjoyed was the best Italian cuisine we've ever had. The room had a big bed, was very comfortable and offered good value for money. The lift came in handy to get our suitcases up to the 2nd floor, and the large, private car park was within easy reach of the front door.

All was great, but I must say that the breakfast was not made that good. But it was a nice stay, and I would probably go here again. The dinner was OK, I had fish and chips. The breakfast didn’t have much choice, only scrambled eggs! Served orange squash rather than juice, Was a quite location and the downstairs decor was nice, however the actual rooms were tired. No lamps either side of the bed and no biscuits provided, also they forgot to give us any spoons to make our drinks, Overall not value for money, rooms and breakfast need improvement.

Hotel is a bit run down - needs a good spruce up / redecoration. To fair as it was only £70 per night this might explain why. Staff were very friendly - no issues there. Food was OK - (mash was cold)

We had a very Comfortable stay at this lovely Hotel, with Friendly and helpful staff, our room was very nice if a little dark. Most of the food was very good, we did have problems with missing orders in the kitchen which resulted in long delays between courses two days running. We feel this Lovely Hotel lacks a little love.

The main house was a beautiful building and the downstairs rooms were impressive however this was let down by the lack of cleanliness throughout. The carpets and floors throughout the building were dirty. I don't think the carpets had seen a hoover for a very long time and the floor in the conservatory was littered with debris. Onto our room, the surfaces were dusty, the carpet needed a good hoover, especially around the edges and just a good clean in general. We stayed two nights and I'm sure that all the housekeeping had done the second day was make the bed and fold the towels as no surfaces had been dusted nor had the room been hoovered. You can forgive a building being a little tired but there is no excuse for the rooms being dirty. On a positive note the restaurant staff were lovely and attentive. Sadly I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Mould in bathroom. Empty soap and shampoo containers, not refilled even after asking the reception to help with it. Breakfast time 7:00 - 10:00, if you arrive at 8:30 the is no more pastry, milk and juice and which is not being replenished.
