I enjoyed my stay, it was pretty clean and it had many options in terms of local eatery ! I didn't like the fact I ordered a non smoking room but walked into a room that definitely smelt like it had someone smoking in it pretty consistently. The pool and hot tubs were very lack luster. I was hoping for an actual hot tub and not luke warm.

We had a good stay. Our room was clean and spacious. There was a good variety at breakfast. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The only drawback was the hot tub heater was not working.

The pool was closed and the kids were really looking forward to swimming after a 13 hr drive so that was a bummer! It was walking distance of restaurants. The room was clean, overall we enjoyed our stay.

This hotel is very comfortable and clean, the staff was very friendly and professional. Breakfast was fresh and good variety. We did experience a three hour power outage (whole city), in the morning during breakfast on our last day, however they provided doughnuts and coffee from Dunkin Doughnuts and their normal cold items. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back in the future!! P.S. the hot tub, pool, gym and free coffee and cookies was awesome!

Very relaxing atmosphere. Landscaping very well done. Parking was a little difficult for larger vehicles. Breakfast was good and breakfast area was clean, Lobby well kept as well.

It is an older building, but not in too bad of shape. An improvement that should be made is the showers need traction gripping. They are too slippery (stayed in 2 rooms and both had the same issue). Continental breakfast was basic, but more than some hotels offer. Parking is kind of tight. But overall, not bad for the $$

Unfortunately, we did not have a great trip. I took my kids there for spring break to swim and to use the hot tub. The hot tub was barely warm. We did let the front desk know several times and they said that they reset the heaters, but the hot tub never got hot. That was one of the main reasons we went there. I did try to get a refund or credit, but was denied. The room was clean, but the rugs were damp, assuming from pool water from the previous guest. I won’t be staying here again.

The room was damp. So much so that they had dehumidifiers plugged into the walls in the hallways and portable peel top water traps in the room. The carpet in our room was dirty with visible debris. Photos of the hotel were much better than it actually was. Everything felt run down, dirty, and if we hadn’t booked through Expedia, would’ve asked for a refund and left.

Very helpful staff and were efficient in getting us checked in and also for helping out when we left keys in the room. Overall a very clean property but just had a few larger stains in the carpet of the hotel room. Still would recommend staying here when in town! Beds were comfortable and heat/ac worked well.

A pleasant stay. The room didn't seem to have great sound insulation, but the hotel wasn't busy that night. One of my lamps didn't work and was unplugged. The bathroom floor was very sticky. A pretty good continental breakfast. Staff was friendly.

Entire place smelled like chlorine. All drains, bathtub and sinks all clogged. Disgusting floors. Just overall gross. Wouldn’t stay there again. However the beds were comfortable and the staff was very kind.

Pricing is right. However, I do not understand how this place is getting such high reviews on the other websites. The staff is nice, but do not respond to the text requests for service via SMS after they text me. My main issue was everything is outdated. HVAC is outdated. The carpets are all stained. The furniture is over 20 years old. The pillows are way too soft and cheap. The countertops and toilets are very very low. The grout is stain. The fan in the bathroom is super loud and sounds broken. They are trying to do some things with the landscaping. The staff is friendly. It is clean overall there are no outlets in the room hardly. There is no USB. They need to invest a lot of money And I do not believe they will. If you think you are going to get a really nice place for a cheap price, you are not. You are just getting a cheap place that is clean for the most part.

I had to find an outlet in the wall behind the bedside table to plug my phone charger into. There were holes in the sheer curtain over the window, and the blackout shade didn't entirely cover the window. The bathroom lights would dim randomly. Overall is was sufficient for a one night stay, but I probably will not return to this hotel.

The bed wasn’t very comfortable and the pillows were kinda flat. However, the hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly. The only thing that would deter us from staying here again would be the parking situation. The parking in the front and in the side (where there are entry doors) was very limited. There is parking in the back, however, no door to access the hotel and there were quite a few work trucks with trailers parked there as well.

Comfortable bed and quiet room! Only complaint was the cleaning lady came into our room without knocking at 9am and checkout wasn’t until 12pm. She then continued to know on our door every hour until we left. Overall staff was nice and accommodating but it was scary when someone came into our room unannounced.

Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was what you would expect. Quiet. Couldn’t get husbands computer to work after the first day. Wi-Fi wouldn’t kick in, but not sure if it was him or their Wi-Fi. Not a big deal. Mine was fine. Pretty central to a lot of retail. Will probably stay again next time visiting family. My only complaint was the strong smell of cleaner on our first night. It dissipated after that.

The pool was closed and the kids were really looking forward to swimming after a 13 hr drive so that was a bummer! It was walking distance of restaurants. The room was clean, overall we enjoyed our stay.

Convenient (15 minutes) to 3 Dunes Challenge & Indiana Dunes Nature Center. Turn into hotel from a main road with quick access to the highway. Small area for free breakfast. choices include toast, cereal, yogurt, muffins, French toast, scrambled and fried eggs (powdered?) sausage patties, etc. Room very clean, but dated. AC, pool (didn’t use). Good value.

It was very close to where we needed to be! However, I drove by the first time as I was not familiar with the area and the sign was poorly lit. And garbage pickup at 6am on a Saturday made for an unfortunate early wake up time.

Perfect place to stay while visiting Valpo! Close to food, shopping and easy interstate access to get to the lake/dunes or Chicago. Will definitely stay here again on our next trip. Oh, and the staff and warm cookies were top notch too.

The staff, including the folks who set up breakfast, are unusually cheerful and helpful. The building seems to be well-made, for the rooms are wonderfully quiet. Parking is easy, and one can walk around the adjacent Valpo campuis.

The room clean-carpet old all over hotel dirty-breakfast not good (cold, eggs no flavor, potatoes not done, sandwich thing not good) No extras plastic glasses 6-7 ozs, no extra bedding pillows or blanket, noisy, we had a suite (haha) 3rd floor in back empty multiple trash cans and dumpsters 530 am the AC worked well - will be no next time -

Had a great stay here! Building was clean and room was pretty big for a basic room. The free breakfast was really great! Waffle makers, little cheese omelettes, and bacon. Convenient Dairy Queen and Culver’s right next door for food was nice too. Staff very friendly and helpful. Recommend!

Nice service. We felt the accomadations were dated and dingy. Strange room location...in an alcove flanked by the mens bathroom and gym...we also shared it with the womens bathroom. Breakfast was nothing to go back for.

The price was a little high for what was provided, but it was okay. My first room had a king sized bed, the tv cabinet showed signs of wear/use and the shear curtain was torn. This room was on the 3rd floor and was pretty quiet. On the 2nd night there was a plumbing issue that couldn’t be fixed by the staff so I was moved to another room. The 2nd room had two queen beds, not what wanted but it was all they had. This room had an entry door that required force to open and close, again the tv cabinet showed signs of wear, the bathroom was noticeably smaller as was the refrigerator and the screen on the window had been replaced by a shear curtain type material that was uncovered for the bottom quarter. This room was on the 2nd floor and was much noisier. The complimentary breakfast was very good: a nice selection of juices, milk, cereals, bread, bagels, English muffins, biscuits, eggs, meats, sausage gravy, waffles and coffee. The lobby was nicely decorated and the staff very friendly.

Great place to stay on my way out of Chicago. Clean, quiet. Safe, easy free parking. I thought the bedding might be a little dusty because I sneezed a lot but could be the time of year. The room was definitely v clean. Breakfast had lots of choices, including more than one type of fresh fruit! That is rare these days.

We' ve stayed here many times over the last 10 years but it is not what it used to be. Starts with the price which is now 50-200% more than previous depending on when we stay. That alone makes this property subject to much higher expectations in my opinion and it's with that lense I write this review. It is old now, has a dingy feeling albeit pretty clean. Pool spa has been closed with a cheesy wooden cover with a table on top that doesn't even fit there. One morning breakfast being first one to arrive was out of stock of several things and had to get someone from front desk to restock it. Coffee was terrible. Room was clean but again outdated. There are other options now in the area around the same price (still too much) but much better condition including a new hotel. People were friendly but the product is no longer worth $150-$300 per night they now charge. IMO it falls into the under $100 category now. Not likely staying here in the future and we visit the area for family 5-6 times per year for several nights.

Check in early and the day manager, whose name I believe was Bria, but she was so vivacious and exhilarating that I so appreciated after being beat up in travel. The room was immaculate and the entire facility looked brand new. Didn’t try the pool but it was really a nice one for future use. Very impressive and I usually only stay in z4-5* hotels, but this gets a 5* in my book. Breakfast was good with nice selections and came with the room.
