Unfortunately, the room was very disappointing, especially considering the £170 per night price. The hotel and room are extremely dated and in need of refurbishment. There were stains on the wallpaper, chipped paint, carpet coming up, a wonky door handle, and cobwebs and a dead spider around the window. The WiFi was really poor, there was no plug socket next to the bed, and there wasn’t even an iron in the room. Overall, the room felt very basic and poorly maintained. The location is good, but for £170 per night, I expected a much higher standard. Unfortunately, the overall experience was very poor and not good value for money.

You cannot fault the location of the hotel, within easy walking distance of the centre of Keswick. The staff are wonderful. I asked for a cocktail the bar steward wasn't aware of. However, when I to the bar the following evening, he'd looked up what was in it and was able to make me one. The food is very good, with a good choice and the dining staff are very professional. However what does let the hotel down is the interior decoration. It is very tired and worn and defiantly needs an upgrade.

This is a lovely old house within walking distance of the town proper. Nice property. My room was on the 2nd floor, and while there is an elevator, I had to traverse up one set of stairs and down another to get to it from the 2nd floor elevator. This isn't an issue for me but it would be a concern for anyone with mobility issues. My room was well-kept up and had a good view of a fell to the north. One annoyance: there was no shampoo or conditioner, just a "three-in-one" shower goo. Yuck. The restaurant was nice enough, but had unusually "stiff" service, for lack of a better term, and I felt it was overpriced compared to what's available in town.
