Lovely hotel and lovely, welcoming staff, great value for money with an indoor and outdoor pool and jacuzzi. A little dated but this added to the charm. Only negative was that the beds were too hard. Amazing location and gorgeous views. Would definitely go back.

The hotel has beautiful, well-kept gardens and really good leisure facilities. It also has off-street parking which is a bonus in Exmouth, plus the sea front is within walking distance. However, the property is in need of some TLC - the decor is shabby and outdated. We also had issues with cleanliness and room facilities during our stay.

The hotel is a little tired. We had worn carpets and old fashioned decor in our room/suite. However, it was cheap. The staff were helpful. The gardens in great shape. The outdoor swimming pool the absolute best. They are closing it for winter next week. There is an indoor pool with sauna, steam room etc, that all looked great, but I love swimming outdoors.

We expected a bedroom and en suite bathroom but also had a lounge, kitchen and extra bed in the room. We would have liked to have stayed an extra night but the hotel was fully booked. We were on a tight schedule so couldn't use the pool and gym or make full use of the facilities.

This is an excellent hotel. Our room was large, comfortable and clean. The staff were nice and helpful. Dinner was OK, breakfast was great. There is a fitness room and an indoor pool with warm water. The lawns and gardens are beautiful, with palm trees, a putting green and croquet course (equipment provided). I highly recommend this place.

Booked last minute....we only live an hour away so booked at 12pm was at the hotel before check in, we could park our car in the carpark until we returned later. We did read reviews and were expecting it to be run down but we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was dated and needed redecorating but we've definitely stayed in worse places for more money. The property was very clean and all of the staff were so friendly and polite. The facilities are great wish we had a longer stay to be able to utilise everything. We will definitely be returning. The only criticism I have is that the decor in some areas and in our apartment was quite dated. But that isn't a deal breaker

The bedroom and en suite were appalling with no housekeeping done in the 4 night stay. The hotel is sadly let down by this. Will not be staying again. We travel to Exmouth twice a year and thought this would make a nice change. Worst experience in Exmouth.

First time staying. The main hotel is a character building, with rooms that are clean, and well proportioned. While they are a little dated, they are well maintained. The staff are friendly, and our breakfast was great.

My room was stuck in the 80's. It was truly awful and my shoes stuck to the carpet. Water didn't quickly drain from the shower or sinks, the sofa was threadbare, the carpets were garish, the kitchenette cupboards didn't fit squarely and I couldn't open the drawers. I didn't want to touch anything in the kitchen and certainly wouldn't have used the utensils or provisions to prepare anything. I could also hear someone in a neighbouring room on the phone - I could hear every word they said. I will not be staying here again.

When we unfolded the sofa bed, which our son was going to use to sleep on, there were a number of stains on the mattress. These appeared to be as a result of various types of bodily fluid. The room seemed to have an high number of insects flying about. Also, as soon as the sofa bed was fully unfolded, three beetles emerged from it. Needless to say we were disgusted. We packed our bags, informed the receptionist (who didn’t seem to really care) and we left. This was at approximately 11:00pm and we a 3 hour drive home. It was that disgusting we were still prepared to drive 3 hours home rather than sleep in that room. Easily the worst hotel experience we have ever had.

I was very surprised to have been given a suite during my stay. I was impressed with the staff and cleanliness of the hotel. The decor is now becoming extremely dated, but I could find no fault with how clean everything was.

A great location, with on site parking and lovely gardens. Arrived quite early but were able to check-in. The receptionist was very friendly and informative - a real credit to the hotel. Pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to an apartment rather than the double room we had booked. The apartment was very spacious, with it's own private balcony. Whilst the furniture & decor was quite dated, it was all in good working order and the room was clean. Had intended to make use of the hotel facilities but didn't in the end - though they did look very good.

My room was awful , I really dislike doing a poor review but I had a window that didn't shut , miss matched curtains of various lengths or coming off the rails a poor condition little kitchen . Really disappointed as the photos on the website were very different

We loved staying here, particularly the use of the swimming pool, Jacuzzi and sauna. Comfort and facilities are good, the staff friendly and helpful but it was rather low on water pressure for showering.

Good value for money, we had an apartment but found bed to be uncomfortable and deco, extractor fan, heating to be stuck in the 80s. Also the shower was really poor. But all this ok because it was a short stay and it’s a fair price

We waited at the desk to check in for a while despite trying to get the attention of somebody in the office area. A member of staff came in from outside and asked if we were being helped and then checked us in. The heaters/air conditioning unit over the hotel entrance could clearly be heard in our room and kept my partner awake for much of the evening, at least we believe this was the cause. The room was comfortable and the breakfast very nice.

Our stay was excellent. All of the staff are friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Yes, the hotel is a little dated, but that adds to it's charm. We had an issue with our room on the second night which was dealt with promptly, politely & efficiently. The rooms were very clean but the hotel is very tired & needs updating. Staff very friendly & helpful.

An amazing hotel . Typified by outstanding staff right from a warm and helpful greeting at reception , to the great barman and the helpful guy serving breakfast . We didn’t know what to expect , a last minute booking but we will be back . Large room , exceptionally clean and great facilities. This hotel has a sense of pride. Manager friendly and helpful and sets a good tone . Best hotel we have stayed in for a very long time . Brilliant breakfast , locally sourced . We will be back ! Do please stay here i will not be disappointed!

Lift was not working , I was staying on the second floor with family and struggled a lot to lift my luggage. None of the hotel employees offered help. Guys at the restaurant and bar were so unfriendly.

When we unfolded the sofa bed, which our son was going to use to sleep on, there were a number of stains on the mattress. These appeared to be as a result of various types of bodily fluid. The room seemed to have an high number of insects flying about. Also, as soon as the sofa bed was fully unfolded, three beetles emerged from it. Needless to say we were disgusted. We packed our bags, informed the receptionist (who didn’t seem to really care) and we left. This was at approximately 11:00pm and we a 3 hour drive home. It was that disgusting we were still prepared to drive 3 hours home rather than sleep in that room. Easily the worst hotel experience we have ever had.

A great location, with on site parking and lovely gardens. Arrived quite early but were able to check-in. The receptionist was very friendly and informative - a real credit to the hotel. Pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to an apartment rather than the double room we had booked. The apartment was very spacious, with it's own private balcony. Whilst the furniture & decor was quite dated, it was all in good working order and the room was clean. Had intended to make use of the hotel facilities but didn't in the end - though they did look very good.

Staff all friendly and attentive. Good choice for breakfast Romms dated but clean. I would say the place really needs some renovation. Oh gardens are very lovely I would mention that if you prefer to leave you car at the hotel it is about a 15 minute walk into town. Downhill or flat most of the way meaning uphill coming back so not to good if not reasonably fit

Booked this last minute as British weather is very unpredictable. Very pleased to get a genuine sea view room. The location of this hotel is great for the seafront and promenade and the gardens are lovely. The hotel is a little tired and smacks of past grandeur but for the price you can’t complain. The staff are great and the atmosphere very relaxed. The only issue really was the evening dining where there is only an hour and a half for ordering and one guy had to do all the bar and serving. He was very good but a lot of people gave up and went into town when you would have thought the hotel would want the money. The food quality however was great and the breakfasts in particular were splendid. Would definitely come back.

All staff from reception,bar restaurants and domestic staff very polite. Decoration is dated but didn’t affect our stay. Lovely view over the extensive gardens extending to the sea. Breakfast self serve ,plenty of choice. We had a theatre trip just a fifteen minute walk to the theatre and the beach. The outdoor pool was cool on entry but we soon acclimatised. First time staying. The main hotel is a character building, with rooms that are clean, and well proportioned. While they are a little dated, they are well maintained. The staff are friendly, and our breakfast was great.

This is an excellent hotel. Our room was large, comfortable and clean. The staff were nice and helpful. Dinner was OK, breakfast was great. There is a fitness room and an indoor pool with warm water. The lawns and gardens are beautiful, with palm trees, a putting green and croquet course (equipment provided). I highly recommend this place.

Only stayed for one night but it was just over half the price of the local Premier inn and I was given an apartment not a room, pretty clean with a sea view and plenty to do there although I didn't have time to use any of the amenities. Free parking on site and a decent restaurant, Only thing is it's a pretty old hotel and looking a bit dated and tired but not really an issue. I will try to book this hotel again if I am in the area in the future.

Chambermaid service on 4th floor excellent. The reception desk is poor served by one person hiding behind a computer resulting in a queue of guests seeking attention. We waited 25 minutes to speak to her behind a queue and other guests joined behind us. The breakfast offering is excellent and well Worth booking. Lovely check in by Bryony who even looked up where we had stayed on previous occasions and found us a great room which was appreciated. Dave who was helpful to everyone recognised us at breakfast, again great feeling . Quality Breakfast set us up for the remainder of the day. Plenty to do in the area and on one day we went to Teignmouth on the famous scenic coastal rail journey. We usually go to Lympstone on the short rail journey and fitted this in too. Outdoor pool was open when we arrived (early) and it was warm and sunny. We've managed to stay and comfortably use the outdoor heated pool last couple if years in mid /late September We also used the indoor pool and enjoyed the spacious grounds and short cut to and from the beach. As usual with the Devoncourt's policy you can use all facilities on last day of your stay too. Staff go out of their way to be friendly and helpful

Staff were helpful and friendly but I thought the hotel looked tired and dated. Rooms were clean, beds comfy, shower was not very strong but excellent steady temperature. We made the most of our stay.

Clean room but very dated. Great to have a kitchen but was very basic. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great location for a few days on the beach and lovely to have an outdoor pool as well as indoor. Kids loved the tennis, mini golf and croquet.
