Really nice hotel, right on the seafront. There were 13 of us and they accommodated us perfectly at breakfast and dinner. Staff were really friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be that they shut the bar at 10pm on two of the evenings which was disappointing.

Located right on the shore of the Solent RIver and close to the CBD of Ryde, this old castle was a perfect stay and it was a pleasure to watch all the boats and ships going in and out of the Port of Southampton, as well of the coming and goings of the hovercraft nearby. Room was not huge, but a reasonable size for the two of us and comfortable. Room was in good condition and the staff were friendly and prompt. Whilst there is parking on site, it is also available to patrons of the hotel so sometimes there can be limited parking. All guests must register their cars with reception. We had 3 heavy suitcases so it was great that they have a lift, but it only goes to the first level meaning if your room was on the second level you would need to carry them up the stairs. We would definitley stay again

I had the bed, breakfast and dinner option, although there was a reduced menu for the option there was still a good selection, all of the food including the breakfast was fantastic. The room was a good size but the outdated and damaged furniture let it down slightly. The evening bar staff were above and beyond in the level of service i received. Will definitely stay here again

Property is lovely - be nice if they had a shuttle from the hovercraft/ferry ports. Short walk but when you're tired and it's raining and you're shlepping suitcases...would be nice. No one at front desk - we had to finally call the phone number. Elevator was out - carrying suitcases up and down especially for one night was not fun. If your elevator isn't working, have someone available to carry luggage for guests. Meals were okay, in a lovely dining area but awkward. first no silver, then had to ask for menu, water. No real greeter.

Excellent location. Free Parking. Right near the sea front and a few mins walk from the Hovercraft, Catamaran and island train station and bus terminal. And only about 15 to 20 mins from the car ferry, by car. Our room was superb, and spotlessly clean. We had a room with a view facing the sea front which was great. Staff were superb, and the food in the restaurant was excellent. 10 out of 10 and we are looking forward to staying again.

If you use a wheelchair make sure you state this when booking. Accessible suites are only available on the 2nd floor and the lift does not go to the third floor. We were on the third so we had some steps to use and drag the chair up. An access ramp is at the side of the building but, if you cannot do stairs, you have to wheel through the outside bar patio in the front, into the back of the bar, through the restaurant and out into the lobby. Very small lift as well if you have a lot of baggage and a wheelchair. Make sure you order your meals AT THE BAR. We were not told this at check in (although they made a reservation for us at the restaurant they neglected to mention we had to go to the bar to order) and we sat for 15 minutes waiting to flag a server! The hotel itself was nice (we had adjoining rooms) and rooms were clean and comfortable. It was very noisy though as you are on a main road (lots of motor bikes!), noise from the patio at the bar and noise from people entering and leaving the building. I'm not sure we would stay there again, but it was great experience staying at an historical building right on the Ryde seafront.

This is a brilliant location in IoW - we used it for the festival. Some issues with cleaning as we had mugs not washed out, tea and coffee not replenished and our soap ran out in the shower. That said, it served a purpose and we’d be back.

Arrived put in a normal room instead of sea view as requested and payed for. The pub area was dirty lids on toilets hanging off, dinning area floors were black never been washed feet stuck to floor and chairs were very dirty and ripped. The staff were amazing, breakfast was good too but the cleaness let it down and very disappointed so won’t be coming back

The good, the staff were excellent, the hotel is convenient for many of the IoW attractions. Breakfast was in the old dining room and there was plenty of choice. Evening meals were in the bar and a bit of a scrum for seating. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was well provided with towels. The room was made up each day which is a rarity these days. The bad, the building is very tired, our room was very hot due to underfloor pipework. Great in winter but not much fun in warm evenings. The windows need replacing and there had been a water leak through the ceiling leaving stains on the ceiling and walls.

Good overall, food in the bar was nice and not expensive. Plenty of choice at breakfast and our room was at the front of the hotel with a great view over Ryde beach towards Portsmouth.

Staff were welcoming and the room was clean, cosy and spacious with a lovely sea view. Unfortunately, during the night the room got a bit chilly despite the central heating being on which made sleeping uncomfortable. Wi-fi access required a long signing in process.

On arrival they said I could only pay by card- it took me to guess that was due to the Microsoft issue. The room was so hot we couldn’t sleep, no air con (but there was an (£19.99 fan to push the hot air around) only one out of the 4 windows could be opened as the others were stuck together with paint. We couldn’t get a drink as they had live music and not enough bar staff. The hotel was therefore very busy and nosey - but as the room was so hot and we had to open our one window our room was above the crowds it was very noisy. Not a good experience- we are all very tired and hot. I appreciate this hotel is old, but knowing it was hot, investment in a Dyson air con unit might help! These was also no top sheet on the bed, so the options are lie on top of the bed with no cover, or get underneath the 10 tog duvet.

Unfortunately the hotel wasn’t quite what we expected, it really was very tired looking and could do with a refurb. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was really good too. The staff were lovely and was very attentive and always happy but I think they could have had some extra help as they were run off of their feet and constantly being asked for things ie more water for the tea and coffee, fresh juice and even cups and saucers. Also it took ages for any meals to be served. Most mornings it took an hour to have breakfast, just sitting and waiting and they were always running out of things. We did have a couple of meals in the evening but unfortunately that was no different. To be honest they really did need extra staff. We were surprised how pleasant the staff were considering they were always rushed. And it wasn’t just us, we did speak to other guests and they felt exactly the same. Unfortunately the hotel wasn’t quite what we expected, it really was very tired looking and could do with a refurb. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was really good too. The staff were lovely and was very attentive and always happy but I think they could have had some extra help as they were run off of their feet and constantly being asked for things ie more water for the tea and coffee, fresh juice and even cups and saucers. Also it took ages for any meals to be served. Most mornings it took an hour to have breakfast, just sitting and waiting and they were always running out of things. We did have a couple of meals in the evening but unfortunately that was no different. To be honest they really did need extra staff. We were surprised how pleasant the staff were considering they were always rushed. And it wasn’t just us, we did speak to other guests and they felt exactly the same. Friendly and helpful staff but just not enough of them. It felt like a corporate profit-driven process has stripped it of the charm I'm sure it once had (as a restorative leisure milieu). Sad, but the way of the world I fear.

If you use a wheelchair make sure you state this when booking. Accessible suites are only available on the 2nd floor and the lift does not go to the third floor. We were on the third so we had some steps to use and drag the chair up. An access ramp is at the side of the building but, if you cannot do stairs, you have to wheel through the outside bar patio in the front, into the back of the bar, through the restaurant and out into the lobby. Very small lift as well if you have a lot of baggage and a wheelchair. Make sure you order your meals AT THE BAR. We were not told this at check in (although they made a reservation for us at the restaurant they neglected to mention we had to go to the bar to order) and we sat for 15 minutes waiting to flag a server! The hotel itself was nice (we had adjoining rooms) and rooms were clean and comfortable. It was very noisy though as you are on a main road (lots of motor bikes!), noise from the patio at the bar and noise from people entering and leaving the building. I'm not sure we would stay there again, but it was great experience staying at an historical building right on the Ryde seafront.

Located right on the shore of the Solent RIver and close to the CBD of Ryde, this old castle was a perfect stay and it was a pleasure to watch all the boats and ships going in and out of the Port of Southampton, as well of the coming and goings of the hovercraft nearby. Room was not huge, but a reasonable size for the two of us and comfortable. Room was in good condition and the staff were friendly and prompt. Whilst there is parking on site, it is also available to patrons of the hotel so sometimes there can be limited parking. All guests must register their cars with reception. We had 3 heavy suitcases so it was great that they have a lift, but it only goes to the first level meaning if your room was on the second level you would need to carry them up the stairs. We would definitley stay again

The hotel was very convenient and close to the seafront. The room was comfortable and it had a walk-in shower which I needed. I also have difficulty with stairs, so I chose the hotel because it has a lift. It also has plenty of parking and the staff were very friendly. Will stay there again next time I visit the Isle of Wight.

The hotel is in a perfect location for all Ryde and the island has to offer. The hotel is of a good standard but the rooms could do with a coat of paint now to freshen them up a bit. The rooms are comfortable though and the breakfasts are good with plenty of variety. The staff are friendly and helpful and quick to deal with any queries. The free parking offered by the hotel is also a bonus. My favourite hotel in Ryde!

The Ryde Castle is an amazing place to stay. It is close to the ferry terminal in Fishbourne, the staff are friendly and helpful, it has a lift (which was great after a long day of hiking) and the room was very comfortable.

Excellent location. Free Parking. Right near the sea front and a few mins walk from the Hovercraft, Catamaran and island train station and bus terminal. And only about 15 to 20 mins from the car ferry, by car. Our room was superb, and spotlessly clean. We had a room with a view facing the sea front which was great. Staff were superb, and the food in the restaurant was excellent. 10 out of 10 and we are looking forward to staying again.

The staff were brilliant very friendly, happy, knowledgeable and efficient. We booked a lovely Seaview room. Food in the restaurant was great as was the service. Breakfast was amazing. Our chef was Tommek and Dani offered us lots of advice on where to visit on top of being a lovely and capable hostess. We liked it so much we have booked to stay again.

I had the bed, breakfast and dinner option, although there was a reduced menu for the option there was still a good selection, all of the food including the breakfast was fantastic. The room was a good size but the outdated and damaged furniture let it down slightly. The evening bar staff were above and beyond in the level of service i received. Will definitely stay here again

Great location, pub, garden. We stayed there during the heat wave and the first night was intolerably hot and stuffy. Greene King puts devices in their windows to keep them from being opened. After we asked, the staff released the lock on one of the windows. This improved things, but it was still very stuffy. We appreciated their doing this, regardless. GK: those window inhibitors are ridiculous, and unsafe for us. What if there had been a fire? They may reduce the risk of someone climbing out (how often does that happen?), but increases the risk for guests in case of an emergency. I suggest making them optional. Overall, the hotel is recommended.

Ryde Castle was a great central location for us for our trip to the Isle of Wight. The staff were very friendly, onsite parking was easy, and it has a pub attached/in it to it make finding a place for a few late drinks easy. The room was a fair size and had a great view across the water to Portsmouth. The bathroom was very clean and up to standards. The only room for improvement would be to clean up the walls as there was areas of mould or damp that could use rectifying.
