Very disapointed with this hotel. Looked very promising from outside and the entrance lobby seemed quite upmarket. Our room was awful with a horrid view of grafftied fencing. We were given a very dated and basic, disabled, bathroom. Horrible. The bar is very dated and no atmosphere, although the barmaid was very helpful and pleasant. Got checked out by a young lady with a moustache ! ? Bizare. We were charged for parking !!! We wouldn't use this hotel again.

Very clean friendly staff, but it said bar 24/7,yet was closed at 10pm, no nightcap. For four stars I expected filter coffee,I hate instant so morning coffee for me😕

Nice room but tv did not work it said weak signal, location of hotel fab. We were surprised to learn as we were staying at hotel we had to pay £10 to park, breakfast good.

This is a property with lots of character. Good breakfast in the area downstairs. we enjoyed our stay. Only issue was the parking lot is quite hard to find.

if your looking for a good location to see Norwich its perfect its the main reason to stay here as its very connivant ;location walking distance to all what Norwich has to offer on site parking £10 car park is tricky to find you have to fine the rd parallel to the front entrance entering a now though re sign so watch out for that , i would say your paying for location hotel was ok staff were friendly also worth asking if they have party's or weddings on we had a disco on until 12- so that kept me up for hr , good hotel for a base to work from easy walking distance as i say

Perfect hotel for central Norwich. Theatre and shops 5 min walk. Main areas tastefully decorated. Spotless. Very calm feel. Reception quirky a private little office room off the side of entrance. Felt like we had stepped back in time. It had a little ding ding bell on the desk for attention. Felt like I was meeting the Bank Manager but don't change your uniqueness. I dread to think how you get on if you have a rush on though! Parking £10 I understand why but great you let us leave our car there next day for as long as needed. Our room spotless and very spacious with a massive telly. The bathroom fan extremely noisy like a jet engine I think you have a problem there but mercifully turned off as long as you avoided putting the light on. We had wished you were serving evening meals. It spoilt our stay. We did not know where to go so ended up with a Burger King. Breakfast a lovely quiet time. Only 2 other tables when we sat down. My full English took 45 mins to come sat with my one coffee offered to me, May I suggest putting a coffee pot on the side so we can help ourselves even a toaster. When my breakfast arrived was worth it. Freshly cooked, non greasy and very tasty. When we come back which we will, I hope you will offer evening meals. All in all, Thank you St Giles for a lovely stay.

We arrived half hour earlier than expected for check-in but room was already available so after a long drive it was lovely to be able to drop our bags and start our break to Norwich. Wisely refurbished hotel, amazing location, accessible, with car park available (a bit tricky to get it, but at 2nd attempt we found it following the clear instructions sent via email). Lovely cooked breakfast, georgian style room was spaceous and lovely, comfortable soft bed, really quiet road, beautiful cocktails. Friendly and welcoming staff, a really nice and quiet atmosphere with a luxurious old-building feel without making you feel uncomfortable.

Fantastic value for money hotel right in the centre of Norwich - as long as you’re staying midweek? It’s not perfect - my room was looking a little tired and that was after an upgrade. You have to expect a few minor issues but you’re supporting an independent hotel. There is car park right in the middle of town which can be a challenge to reach. The entrance from the car park isn’t too grand and it’s a guess where the reception is. It needs a bit of money spending on it and could do with a chef in the evening but I’m guessing they’ll get there. The staff are all very helpful and an asset to the hotel. I will be staying at St Giles again.

The hotel is nice in that it is an older hotel which adds to the feel of being in England. Staff really friendly. Downside was that bar closes early, no dinner or room service, elevator on 4th floor didnt work going down which was a bit of a pain when leaving eith luggage, and the shower had a mind of its own and kept spraying everywhere. Room was clean though and hotel is cute.

Beautiful building but a lot of money for what we ended up with. The room was dirty and not well maintained. The bathroom needs a serious update. A shame because the building is beautiful but there’s clearly no money being spent on the upkeep. Won’t be coming here again.

One of the cups in the room was cracked. The bathroom was very dirty - shower cubicle leaked. Limescale corrosion everywhere. Sink didn't hold water. As you look around this room the floor was also mucky, the loo brush holder was in a state - glad I didn't have to touch it. The wardrobe door kept opening, it would not shut - I had to sleep with the lamp on as I could have injured myself if I had to get out of bed during the night. One of the wooden arms on a chair kept coming adrift. The carpet was very dirty. On the list of items on the mini-bar, it stated 2 bags of crisps and 2 bags of nuts - in fact there was only one of each, I did point this out to the receptionist when booking out, she altered the list to read one of each. We noted that the tables we sat at for breakfast were sticky and had obviously not been cleaned properly. The floor was also very dusty. Generally the price we paid for the room was way too much. We would definitely not go the this hotel again.

The room, a junior suite , had furnishings that didn’t look as if they had been cleaned. The curtain was broken. The floor hasn’t a couple of peanuts on it and a used plaster from some ones wound. The toilet leaked and needs to be mended while I was there including a wait while they bought the spare part needed. The reception bar and breakfast staff were excellent however.

quite nice but there were stains on the carpet and on the chair it was not very pleasant. The curtain in the bathroom was also quite dirty. these shortcomings should definitely not be there considering the price. Staff is top notch.

I booked a suite but when I went into the bathroom I found that it had not been cleaned, soap still in the soap dish, and overflowing bin. I was going out and was short on time, complained to the manager who quickly offered a complimentary breakfast and free car park. I asked if they would transfer my bags to the new room due to my lack of time. On my return the room was a basic (much cheaper) but to my dismay the bathroom was filthy, floor was disgusting, shower had hair in it and towel rail rusting. The carpet was stained, bed clean fortunately. I complained in the morning and was told that "they were sorry!" I mentioned that this is the worst hotel thst I have stayed in for years and my breakfast/car park was no saving due to the room down grade...again 'they are sorry!" Not acceptable and am going to take this further!

The hotel decor was stunning, the room was a good size, and had everything we needed and more. Breakfast was wonderful. Check in and out smooth. Would recommend for a city break, walkable distance from city centre so perfect for shopping, but far enough away from clubs etc to be nice and quiet - perfect!

A good location for central Norwich with convenient car parking (£10 per 24hr). Hotel is quite dated + a bit shabby in places. Our room was fairly clean but could do with some TLC. We could hear music all night from somewhere nearby. It wasn't horribly loud but it was only a Tuesday night, so perhaps it's worse on weekends. A fridge in the room would have been nice, but we appreciated the kettle/tea and coffee mugs. Good size towels but the shower leaked all over the floor so they were used to mop that up. Pillows are awful.

Very friendly and helpful staff and the room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was very good and ran till 10am on all days which isn't the norm these days. Also there was none of that nonsense about stating what time you wanted breakfast, or even pre-ordering what you were going to eat - something that more and more hotels are doing these days. There was also a night porter who could serve drinks, something that is also becoming a rarity. I couldn't fault anything about our stay, and would easily stay here again.
Very friendly and helpful staff and the room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was very good and ran till 10am on all days which isn't the norm these days. Also there was none of that nonsense about stating what time you wanted breakfast, or even pre-ordering what you were going to eat - something that more and more hotels are doing these days. There was also a night porter who could serve drinks, something that is also becoming a rarity. I couldn't fault anything about our stay, and would easily stay here again.

Staff were really great. Room (no 1) was fine, if a bit spartan (could have done with another chair for instance). The bathroom was rather tired, though, and water splashed under the shower door, so the floor became very slippery.

Perfect hotel for central Norwich. Theatre and shops 5 min walk. Main areas tastefully decorated. Spotless. Very calm feel. Reception quirky a private little office room off the side of entrance. Felt like we had stepped back in time. It had a little ding ding bell on the desk for attention. Felt like I was meeting the Bank Manager but don't change your uniqueness. I dread to think how you get on if you have a rush on though! Parking £10 I understand why but great you let us leave our car there next day for as long as needed. Our room spotless and very spacious with a massive telly. The bathroom fan extremely noisy like a jet engine I think you have a problem there but mercifully turned off as long as you avoided putting the light on. We had wished you were serving evening meals. It spoilt our stay. We did not know where to go so ended up with a Burger King. Breakfast a lovely quiet time. Only 2 other tables when we sat down. My full English took 45 mins to come sat with my one coffee offered to me, May I suggest putting a coffee pot on the side so we can help ourselves even a toaster. When my breakfast arrived was worth it. Freshly cooked, non greasy and very tasty. When we come back which we will, I hope you will offer evening meals. All in all, Thank you St Giles for a lovely stay.

Another great stay. Welcomed by the ever friendly staff and had a very simple check in. The suite was very spacious, if a little ‘tired’. The collection of furniture was a little comical, with old tiger print sofas and colonial wardrobes all having seen better days. The bed was big and pretty comfortable. The bath was deep and luxurious. However the shower took an age to warm up and left me shivering and wet for about 10 minutes (not great with a cold). For breakfast I opted for the full English, which was fine. I’m not sure value of the value money though. Checkout was super swift and pleasant. Will definitely stay again.

We arrived half hour earlier than expected for check-in but room was already available so after a long drive it was lovely to be able to drop our bags and start our break to Norwich. Wisely refurbished hotel, amazing location, accessible, with car park available (a bit tricky to get it, but at 2nd attempt we found it following the clear instructions sent via email). Lovely cooked breakfast, georgian style room was spaceous and lovely, comfortable soft bed, really quiet road, beautiful cocktails. Friendly and welcoming staff, a really nice and quiet atmosphere with a luxurious old-building feel without making you feel uncomfortable.

Had to hunt for receptionist for quite some time, approaching 10 mins. Found a body eventually and receptionist arrived. Very efficient check in and service after that. Bathroom v basic. Breakfast not too good. Felt that manager was trying hard but some staff perhaps needed more training.

Convenient location walking distance to amenities. Food good however long wait for breakfast service and didnt seem equipped to manage the tables they have due to only 2 staff working and multi tasking at reception. Coffee undrinkable though! Some staff better than others, for example, our cleaning lady (who gave us a great laugh with her towel art!) and Tom at reception who rectified a problem with the heating for us very quickly. Not enough sockets in the room with 2 broken meaning things had to be unplugged and moved around to use e.g kettle.

Excellent, hotel was lovely and very easy to find, close to the shops/ town centre. The hotel was gorgeous and worth paying extra for ! The staff were very lovely and helpful, it was a really pleasant stay. Super easy check in and out also! The only negative was that in our room, we only had shampoo and conditioner, there was a stunning bath but no bubble bath or soap to actually enjoy it. This was a very minor negative over our whole experience though, we will definitely be returning!

This hotel is amazing. It’s beautiful, the food and cocktails are great and the staff are brilliant. Genuinely the best service we have received in a very long time. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

We stayed as a couple for one night as we were going to the very nearby Norwich arts centre for a gig. The hotel was both classy and cosy, everything was a nice size ( room, bed, bathroom etc), very clean and everything we needed. The building itself is grand, kooky and welcoming. The staff were just incredible and we enjoyed our chats with them....they were very knowledgeable including about the history of the hotel and what else was of interest in the local area. Breakfast was quality ( and we are food snobs as we used to live in France). Really couldn't fault anything. Next time, we'll be back with more time hopefully as we regretted not being able to try out the cocktails at the lovely bar!!

Stayed two nights at this hotel. Its full of character and lovely decor. Its in a great location being a 5 min walk into Norwich town center and theatre. The staff were very helpful. We eat in their restaurant Friday night and the food was very good.

The hotel is nice in that it is an older hotel which adds to the feel of being in England. Staff really friendly. Downside was that bar closes early, no dinner or room service, elevator on 4th floor didnt work going down which was a bit of a pain when leaving eith luggage, and the shower had a mind of its own and kept spraying everywhere. Room was clean though and hotel is cute.

My second stay. It’s very comfortable, clean and attentive staff. Breakfast was a good size with quality food and nicely cooked. Parking, whilst a little challenging to find perhaps, is very convenient and not unreasonably priced given its central location. I would recommend both to stay and to eat. The bar and lounge area gave a very pleasant end to our visit to the Theatre Royal which is only a few minutes walk away.

I booked a dog friendly room with air conditioning to be told dog friendly rooms don’t have aircon, was then charged and extra £20 for the room and another £10 for parking, I wasn’t aware of any extra charges I feel very ripped off, my dog is cleaner than most humans so I take offence of that to then be charged to use there own car park is also a rip off, The place looked in maintained and tired, there were cobwebs in the restaurant and the floor had muck all over it, the general cleaning is poor so for me to have to pay an extra £20 for my god seems even worse. When I went to check out I was told my card payment for £30 had been declined, I had to argue that it had gone through and then I showed the payment being taken on my bank statement. Really unhappy with the whole experience
