Was very handy for york town center also had secured parking

The hotel is good the only thing is that it doesn't have an elevator. Not a problem if you're in the first floor but a little inconvenient if you're at the top. Otherwise is clean, convenient with a good breakfast.

Good experience, clean hotel, friendly staff, secure parking for £10 a day or free if you book directly on the hotel's website instead. Only problem we had which was no fault of the actual hotel was that we were on the top floor(room 12) which is 55 steep steps to get to, so would recommend contacting the hotel if you have an6 mobility issues to request a lower floor room. Hotel also does not have air con so summer months if the weather is good is very warm.

Excellent breakfast with great choice in both buffet style and cooked meal. Bedroom and washroom were both spacious with super shower. Disliked key to get into room as sometimes it didn't work. I often needed help with this. I was on the 3rd floor and had to walk down and back up 28 steps with help for this.

Secure cheap parking, breakfast was lovely as were the waiting staff. Room was clean tidy and spacious. Receptionist's we spoke to 3 different ones and all were friendly and welcoming In an ideal spot very close to the Cathedral and the shambles. Would definitely return.

Stayed for two nights and staff changed my room before arrival when they heard I’d had hip replacement.Parking was in a gated area and was very secure. Breakfast was excellent as was the service- everything was done with a smile. Great location for walking into City as it was very close to York Minster.

The room was clean, fresh, and well equipped. It was disappointing not to have a bath but there was a huge walk in shower. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The communal areas were clean but dated. Breakfast was tasty, with lots of options and hot food cooked to order - no pricing given though so we only found out the cost on check out. The one issue we had was parking. We paid for 2 days parking on check in, however after arriving back from an afternoon trip, there was no available space. We were informed at this point that parking was on a "first come first served" basis. This had not been explained at check in, nor at booking or on the hotel website. Had we known this in advance, we would probably have not chosen this hotel. Luckily, a staff member offered to double park in the car park to free up a space for us. The location was great, only a few minutes walk to the city centre. On the whole we had a pleasant stay but wouldn't return due to the parking issue.

Good location and secure parking

Very good location as you can do everything by foot once youre parked up. Extremely friendly reception staff upon arrival, more than happy to keep our bags and let us park even though it was hours before check-in. Lots of stairs upto our room on top floor but that was ok. Breakfast was sensational and lots of choice. Really pleased we chose to stay here. Had to pay £10 parking charge but if you book direct with the hotel you get to park for free.

Overnight stay, disappointed to find out we had to pay an extra £10 to park our car because we hadn’t booked directly with the Hotel but apart from that an enjoyable experience. The breakfast options were exceptional, there was something for everyone and plenty of it, well done

Very close to the city centre, and the staff is very nice. Room and toilet were not super clean, that's the downside. Probably I won't be back. The Wi-Fi connection was poor, I did say that to the staff during the checkout out and they said they would reboot it, so hopefully this will work, as I couldn't work from the room for the whole staying

Paid £322 for two nights, unfortunately the room we had was very poor, cobwebs hanging from ceiling and in corners of the room, Sticky substance on Bedside cabinet, furniture all worn and room just generally looked run down and dirty. The double bed was the smallest I had ever encountered. The bathroom was a improvement on the bedroom as was the breakfast, but our room didn't resemble anything like what is shown on the website so we were very disappointed. I will say the staff are super friendly and helpful but the property really was lacking

Under the bed you could see was full of dust and there were dirty marks on headboard and seats. The curtains did not close full so politely asked for a bill dog clip or clothes peg at reception. The receptionist on duty never got up to look, never apologised for the issue…just said “we don’t have anything, no ones complained before”. Terrible attitude, I had to go to local sainsbury n buy hair clips! Also they got cooked breakfast order wrong

The hotel itself was lovely but the bed was quite uncomfortable so neither myself or my husband had a good nights sleep. Also the shower was dripping intermittently throughout the night and there was mould on the ceiling and in the grout in the bathroom.

A lovely, cosy friendly hotel in an excellent location in York. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The beds were comfortable & the tea and biscuits in the room very welcome & delicious. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Very friendly and welcoming staff.

The location is excellent and the staff are fabulous. Michelle at reception was very personable. Stewart and Laura provided outstanding service at breakfast. We were disappointed that there were four issues with our room that should not have been that way on our arrival. The most troubling issue was the toilet did not work. We had to clean the toilet on arrival and then discovered it did not flush. They could not fix it until the next day so we had to use the toilet by reception. This was very difficult for someone who deals with IBS. We moved to another room the next day in case the toilet and other issues were not fixed but we did not have access to the new room until after 1:00. We were surprised management did not appreciate the challenges we had and offer some sort of retribution. Even a refund on our parking would have made us feel better since we moved our belongings to our car while waiting for the new room. The only response the manager said was they don’t know if customers don’t mention it. Well the cleaning person should have known the toilet didn’t work if they had cleaned it and someone could have fixed it before our arrival. There was a letter in the room commenting they are a small independent family owned hotel and requested problems be reported to them rather than posting reviews. I gave every opportunity for the manager to deal with our concerns and make it right before doing this review. We did not hear anything.

Hotel was excellent, rooms spotless and every member of staff really excellent and welcoming

The hotel was okay, and very close to the shops.the service in the hotel was good and the food was adequate. We were in room 11 which is right at the top of the hotel only accessible by walking up three sets of very steep stairs so would not be suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. The room was clean and adequate. The bed was very uncomfortable, really hard mattress and the pillows were hard too. When we went to bed on the first night I felt like I was going to fall out as the bed sloped down on one side. The next morning I was making the bed and realised it was a king-size mattress on a double bed base! No wonder it was sloped on one side. The breakfast options are okay with a good few choices. All in all the hotel was not too bad except for the bed. However we wouldn't return there. We will stick with our usual hotel which is further from the centre but much more comfortable.

We had a lovely stay at The Minster York. The room was very spacious and clean and we had a lovely big four poster bed. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. Great location, just 5 min walk from The Minster. The hotel is an older hotel but this just added to the charm.

Great location for city centre and parking for only £10. The only negative was the fact that the shower door was so small I couldn’t even get in the shower. Room 6

The hotel is in a perfect location for exploring York. There is quite a large car park, although it can get a bit tight when busy. The hotel has benefitted from an extensive refurbishnent, which has been very tastefully done. Breakfast was delicious, with a large variety of options, both continental and traditional. Service was first class and friendly. Our room, in the basement, was large with an equally large ensuite. In the sweltering heat, it remained nice and cool. I personally found the huge bed somewhat hard, however my partner loved it. My only criticism would be that being in the basement, the windows could have benfitted from an external clean. If our travels take us back to York we will definitely use The Minster again, we had a great stay.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was lovely - our only real criticism is that the hotel was swelteringly warm all the time even with the window as wide open as we could make it and that made sleeping a little difficult.

The beds were not comfortable, and there was no airflow in the rooms, so we were hot. We had an outside entrance to our room, so that was not a good idea. The shower was nice.

I booked this place for its available parking, proximity to the minister, and high review score. It appears to be an old building that has been repurposed as a hotel. We stayed on the ground floor, where the room felt quite damp. The main issue was the bedding and linens, which were of poor quality, and there was a noticeable musty odor. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and well appointed. Thankful we got moved to 1st floor as no lift and I have some mobility issues. A fan in room would have been a great addition as it was quite warm. And Leaving windows open brought in traffic noise from road out front. Breakfast was excellent. Would definitely stay again.

Location for town was a 5 min walk to the city wall and approx 10 minutes walk to The Shambles. Staff were friendly. The only minor drawback we thought was the hotel seemed a little tired but didn’t affect our lovely stay at The Minster Hotel.

The staff are beyond helpful and kind. The location was excellent (minster in 5 minutes), safe. Our room was super quiet and clean with everything you would expect. Breakfast menu is extensive and served steaming hot by friendly staff. Would return here in a heartbeat

Lovely room, well situated, convenient parking, clean. The best thing about the Minster York hotel is the staff. They are so welcoming and friendly. Always greeted with a genuine warm smile and pleasant word or two. Will return!

The staff are wonderful and very attentive, Made sure I had lactose free milk once they knew. The hotel is always very clean, the food lovely and fresh made, we've stayed before and we'll stay again. Highly recommend.

Great convenient central location to all sights. Misleading photos and descriptions of the rooms. I was given a tiny room on the top floor with no place or space for my small carryon luggage, no chair to sit, and stifling heat with no air circulation. One small fan was provided. Our three rooms were booked in advance, one booking, each of us paid the same price, yet each room varied from being either deluxe, standard or budget! A hotel information letter requested that guests let them know if there’s an issue so that they can seek to resolve it, but when we did voice our concerns, no effort was made to appease our discomfort. Since it was a third party booking - Expedia- nothing could be done we were told. An extra fan, cold bottled water, a complimentary breakfast would have been much appreciated gestures.

The staff are so friendly and helpful like most yorkshire folk, particularly the always happy Stewart serving breakfast who has been there forever. Great breakfast options in lovely dining room. Good shower, warm rooms. So convenient for the town centre, perfect and flexible parking

We reported a broken toilet seat several times and nothing was done about it despite assurances it would be dealt with. Despite this everyone we spoke to was extremely friendly so I think it was probably just a mix up in house. The Minster Hotel is perfectly situated for spending time in York, I use a mobility scooter and was able to get in to the city in a matter of minutes.

Had a lovely stay here. Staff without exception were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and served until 10am everyday which was really nice. Was in a very central location, most things we wanted to see were within easy walking distance with the Minster being literally 5 min walk away. Very good to have on site parking and if you book direct with hotel it’s free. Overall an excellent experience and will certainly book again next time we are in york

The room was really spacious and had everything we needed including a very large walk in shower. Parking was very secure, although on this occasion we did need to pay £10 per night. The staff were super friendly as always and their breakfasts excellent choices and presentation. Definitely recommend this hotel and its proximity to the Minster and all the shops and restaurants superb.

The Minster is in a great position for exploring York. There is also parking which is a bonus. Lots of choice at breakfast with local ingredients. Well worth a stay

Extremely friendly staff, great central location near to restaurants and the Minster made this excellent value. Superb breakfast too.

The bed was comfy, a good size bathroom including toiletries. An excellent breakfast both the food and service. Check in was easy and the reception staff friendly. The hotel is approx 5 minutes walk to York Minster and approx 15 minutes from the station. All in all a great place to base yourself for sightseeing

Lovely quiet hotel, 10 minutes walk from York Minster. Staff were very helpful and friendly. A great room, very nicely decorated, would definitely use again. Only slight complaint is the full English breakfast was over cooked.

First class service from the moment you enter the hotel, my room was renovated and bathroom as well. Was well catered for at breakfast, nothing is too much trouble and it shows as to how the hotel is run. Daily supplies of tea/coffee/biscuits in room. Its close to the city centre and all the tourist attractions.

Been to hotel a few times stayed in the annex bit and the old main building before ,but this time the room in the main building was looking tired, cracked sink , silicone around bath dirty , dusty room ,and very hot !! the bathroom radiator was on all night had to leave window open to get air , and in the morning although the staff were very friendly, the cooked breakfast was cold in parts and and greasy and slightly under cooked (bacon)
