The rooms were fine and the service was great but the spa area was disappointing. The jacuzzi was too hot to use and was covered in foam and the decor, especially the wicker loungers which were very saggy, looked old and tired. The only showers were in the changing room so you can’t easily shower between using the sauna and steam room and getting in the pool too. That said we enjoyed our stay.

The spa facilities were really great and created a great opportunity for the family to spend time together. Really appreciated the hotel faciltating our family of 4 to stay in a junior suite even though we were 4. The room was clean and spacious and was a real break for us! Only thing was breakfast wasa bit expensive for us as it the resaurant seemed to be managed separately. All in all really lovely!

The experience at Muthu was great. Staff were very courteous as well as accommodating. The swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna were great too. I liked the vibe of the place and the entrance is really grand. Gives a classy look without the expensive price tag.

One night stop over for work. The hotel was very good value for a decent double room and use of gym and nice pool area included. Gym is quite small and dated equipment, but sufficient, pool area is nice and very spacious. Didnt use the restaurant but used the bar for a drink and watch the football on a very large TV. Bar was very nice and looked like it had been renovated recently.

I was working in the area and needed somewhere with a gym and pool. Found this gem and I wasn't disappointed. The gym was great for a hotel and the pool area was amazing. Everything here that was needed, the staff were friendly and accommodating. The restaurant and food were superb and again the staff were great. Couldn't fault this place for a first visit. I will return.

Me and my 5 year old Daughter stayed here for 4 nights. All the staff were fantastic and friendly, the food in both the restaurant and bar was really good and the pool facilities were ideal for what we were after. only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the room we had and the pool in particularly could use some 'TLC' the shower in our room was loose and there were several areas in the pool where areas of tiles have come away. Would still defo stay again though, mostly due to how great all the staff were.

The plus side: Plenty of parking (car park extends around the building so deceptively large) Friendly and obliging staff Nice decor - Christmas decs were up, it looked very pretty Good breakfast choice Single bed was almost a double The bad side: Clunky, outdated equipment in gym Changing rooms not great, dingy and a bit run down Spa wasn't as impressive as the photos suggest Noisy plumbing. Next door ran their shower (I think) and there was a loud groaning noise in my room - at 6am! No chain on the door The very worst thing was the APPALLING smell in the bathroom. I noticed it on arrival but it wasn't that strong. When I got back from the spa and gym it was much worse, in the morning it was really disgusting - a mix of sewage and rotten onions! I couldn't bear to be in there for more than a minute, so I couldn't have more than a quick wash and hastily clean my teeth, dashing back into the room when it got too much. It was so bad I actually felt sick when I had to use the loo. I hadn't been able to book any treatments so planned on doing a face pack and hair mask in my room and brought some products with me for this, but because I couldn't use the bathroom this wasn't possible. I couldn't even shower in the morning, it was so bad. Luckily I only live 30 mins away. I was hoping this would be my new 'haven of peace' once a month or so but I won't be back. I reported it to the staff when I checked out. They apologised but didn't offer any refund, just said they'd report it.

Bath mat was rolled up in bath showing mould all over the bottom so I chucked it out the bath. Cream coloured hair and footstool were really badly stained. So much so I couldn’t sit on them. I have stayed at this hotel 5 times and have never had a problem like this before.

We only stayed one night and it was quite comfortable, the room was clean but the window was very tiny, the shower didn't have much pressure, there was water in the room, breakfast was ok and staff quite friendly. Will return again if in the area.

Very poor offering at breakfast for the 3 nights I stayed this week and 2 days last week. Cold buffet was 3 types of melon , 1 bowl of Greek yogurt 2 mornings no million cereal , had to ask , 3rd morning milk not on the cold plate . Coffee machine no milk first morning . Juice not chilled . No croissants morning 2 Hot buffet - sausages burnt . Very poor offering . Tables not cleared at any point . Had to ask for cups on the table to get coffee . 3-5 staff on most mornings with no guidance . Not a great experience for £135 per night . Will not use in the near future

Room 504: floor carpet full of stains, window blocked so that you could not have any fresh air, light in drinks making alcove not working, furniture very tacky and armchairs worn, mattress very springy, not firm enough. Ample parking. Beautiful reception. Room was however very outdated and only had 1 plug socket the other side of the room where the kettle was plugged in. Room had an old furniture smell and missing carpet. Dinner was very expensive but breakfast was okay.

Hotel reception lovely dont be fooled once away from reception paint on all doors windows and skirting peeling off the corridors smelt of sewarage .people running up and down corridors at 1in the mornin fire alarm set off.

Very average outside accommodation. A basic chalet type block. Although they had attempted to upgrade the overall quality was low. The bed although adequate were by know means the quality required for a stay more then two nights. Poor quality mattress and very soft. No topper so will sleeping on an air bed. For a hotel the rooms did not stand out. I've stayed in better privately run B&Bs . The area was quiet as not in the main building but doesn't give good curb appeal as thebfron block paving is in need of some serious attention and the smoking bucket outside our door felt like I was in a 1980s buktin camp. All the bouchers and pictures on line look nice but don't be fooled. Generally a B&B would have been the better option. Extractor in the bathroom didn't work either so very steamy. Our room was the twin garden room. This was in a block of 6 chalet rooms.

Would not stay here again. We had a stained mattress with a bed spring sticking up which made sleep near impossible. Our shower was luke warm. We complained to the hotel and were told their inspection showed the mattress was in good order and the shower was hot. This was not our experience and we will not return.

Came here for my partners birthday and we had a lovely time but sadly i found my tv was poor we had 1 tv channel and all night we heard noise from the lift which sadly kept up awake. But the staff are friendly and the hotel is presented beautifully just sadly we had the few issues.

This staycation was brilliant. The check in service at the front desk was excellent. I enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The only thing that spoilt it for me was the attitude of one of the staff at breakfast. We provided our room details and were shown to the buffet. I started helping myself the same staff who had been at the restaurant entrance along with her colleague, came asked me my room details. This staycation was brilliant. The check in service at the front desk was excellent. I enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The only thing that spoilt it for me was the attitude of one of the staff at breakfast. We provided our room details and were shown to the buffet. I started helping myself the same staff who had been at the restaurant entrance along with her colleague, came asked me my room details. The stay was very disappointing. I travel all over the UK every week for work and stay in multiple hotels during week. This hotel has been the worst of them all. The staff were not approchable or helpful. The pool has multiple tiles missing from the steps and pool floor making it a dangerous health and safety hazard. The jacuzzi was not working and was told by some regular users that this has been the case for quite some time and the hotel are not in a rush to get it fixed. During the night a group of young teenagers were staying in the room above us and it sounded like they was having a party until 4:30am. The noise was reported to the night staff multiple times but nothing was done about it. The food at breakfast was luke warm at best and the hotel had no heating in the morning so breakfast was not enjoyable. I would not to waste your money staying at this terrible hotel.

Very poorly explained what's in the package and when you ask a question, the employee answers you unwillingly and makes you look like an idiot. In short: We went to the hotel because of the spa treatments and the employee, Joe, couldn't tell me what was included in the package and what wasn't, and the ADDITIONAL CHARGES. There was a big misunderstanding as soon as we arrived to check in. Be careful, as the staff try to do everything they can to make you pay more - whether it's for the spa treatment or the food. The bedroom was okay, but too many dust in all amenities in the hotel. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna was nice. The only thing genuinely good in this hotel. Even so, I would never come back.

We arrived earlier than our scheduled arrival time at about 6 pm (advised to the hotel was 7 pm). Always a lovely stay at Belstead Brook; I’ve been coming for years. The food in the restaurant is fantastic, especially their Sunday roast. Beds are comfortable enough but it does depend on room type (I’ve stayed in all types) but I find the pillows quite hard. A good hotel if you’re in the area with friendly and obliging staff.

It was ok, just ok which is a shame because the hotel has loads of potential! The rooms need regular maintenance, e.g in our room (107) the hot water on the shower was not controllable and was absolutely scalding, the shower hose itself was leaking so the pressure was low and water was running down the wall & into the bath. Also the hairdryer didnot have a cover on the filter and sucked some hair into it whilst i was using it. All of these issues should have been picked up by regular room maintenance checks. We did report our concerns to reception and whilst they did apologise, that's all they did.

I was well looked after and thought it a very lovely hotel. It is accesssed through a housing estate and so it looks like you are heading in the wrong direction - but worth it. Only problem I had was that when I got the bill, the hotel had missed off my dinner. It took longer to sort it out than I expected, and, as I was so honest, I would have thought a 'thank you' would have been attached to the invoice. But 'no'. Still, chef knows how to cook liver and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My partner and I stayed here recently for 3 nights and overall we were pleased with our stay. We were initially disappointed that the hotel seemed to be in the middle of a housing estate but upon entering the grounds it was quite impressive and a lovely old building, Overall we were pleased with our room. However, we booked a Club Room thinking we were going to have a balcony and patio door as shown on one of the pictures on the Expedia site. On booking in we were told Club Rooms don't have this, only Junior Suites. We didn't have a fridge either but I think we have got too used to hotels abroad which always have them. The bathroom could have done with an update. The waterfall shower was a bit slow but was adequate. I had to extradite a spider that was doing a 'walkabout' on the ceiling! There was always clean, fresh towels each day and the bed was comfy. Pillows were not the best however. The room was clean but a bit dark but this was the way it was furnished. It was certainly different from the usual type of chain hotels. We had 2 meals in the restaurant which we thought were excellent. Not a huge choice but always hot with lovely fresh vegetables. Overall, we probably wouldn't stay here again only because we would have preferred it to have been nearer the town but would certainly recommend it to others.

We visit the area alot and this hotel offered twin bedded rooms and pool. We used the bar and staff could not have been nicer. Parking is bad as they could do with marking lines as cars park ramdomly and use 2 bays. So we had to park far away but moved car later in evening.

The hotel is very attractive in its own grounds with ample parking. It has been decorated with opulence and gives a luxury feel. It is an old buiding so there are the usual challenges with air conditioning and water pressure, but the rooms are well equipped. The bar is spacious and the restaurant is popular with guests and locals alike, even on a Tuesday. The hotel is out of town so a car is necessary to get to the amenities.

It was our 2nd time at the hotel . This time we brought two friends for a long weekend. We paid extra for half board . The food is always 10/10 . Choices are excellent. Breakfast is always excellent. Was very pleasantly surprised at the upgraded rooms and reception areas in comparison with a few years ago when we were last there. Our Club Room was very nice. Breakfast was not great, with lukewarm food but the one issue we had was that we had been advised the the bar extension was until midnight, due to the number we had staying that night, only to be asked for last orders at 23.10 and shortly afterwards was asked to vacate the area as they wanted to shampoo the carpets! Was a great stay inspite of the above 👌

Staff and room were as normal but the restaurant was a let down this occasion. 2 people sent their food back , the roast came out for 2 other tables with no yorkshire puddings which had to be bought out after . Then our food arrived with half the veg missing which had to be bought out separately too . There wete hardley any staff working. Very disappointed.

Very poor offering at breakfast for the 3 nights I stayed this week and 2 days last week. Cold buffet was 3 types of melon , 1 bowl of Greek yogurt 2 mornings no million cereal , had to ask , 3rd morning milk not on the cold plate . Coffee machine no milk first morning . Juice not chilled . No croissants morning 2 Hot buffet - sausages burnt . Very poor offering . Tables not cleared at any point . Had to ask for cups on the table to get coffee . 3-5 staff on most mornings with no guidance . Not a great experience for £135 per night . Will not use in the near future

The food was absolutely delicious, staff really helpful and friendly. Pool & jacuzzi were so lovely. The hotel is well worth a visit . Jimmys farm is 8 minutes from hotel . Would I stay here again …. Absolutely! The only thing I’d change was having a thicker quilt on bed as evening colder or a throw / blanket in wardrobe for a just in case ! Liked the lift to get us up to floor two . Stairlifts in hotel for people with disabilities. Can’t wait to return .

The only issue we had was that the hotel was obviously having problems with water pressure. We could have a boiling hot shower but if you tried to turn the cold tap on, the whole lot stopped working. Other guests were having the same problem and it was also causing issues in the pool area. We spoke to the lady at reception and asked if we could have a room with a shower that worked. She went upstairs herself to check the shower in an unoccupied room and gave us a new key. We were very happy to find that we had been upgraded which was a nice surprise. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. I also had a massage in the spa and it was probably the best massage I've ever had. It wasn't perfect, but problems were dealt with efficiently and the atmosphere was really friendly. I would stay again.
