The Northwick Arms Hotel

A nice enough hotel. Limited bar. Apart from breakfast, no food facilities at this time. Not sure if there are plans to re-introduce a restaurant. The room was comfortable enough and clean, but there was no movement of the air, apart from a fan. No air-conditioning which is fairly common in the U.K. The bed had a bottom sheet with a doonah on top. It was way too hot/humid for a doonah. Having a top bedsheet would have been nice. However, the common practice appears to be no top bedsheet in the U.K.

We liked the hotel very much. Although we paid a budget rate, the room was clean, bright, spacious and well-appointed with a good sized bathroom providing all the facilities we needed. The WiFi was fine and the breakfasts were good. Although no food was available apart from this, we were able to enjoy drinks in pleasant bar areas both indoor and outdoor. The staff were courteous, friendly and very helpful. All in all the hotel was excellent value for money.

Parking was good and free The bed was noisy and not very comfortable The bathroom was ok but no handrails or shower mat (had to ask about turning it on ) Mostly the breakfast was a let down the produce isn’t very good and badly cooked, overcooked bacon and sausage - undercooked egg but it was adequate in quantity Your allowed 7 items for you cooked breakfast On a note the pancakes were very good

Wife had recently been ill and they moved us to a room on the first floor rather than the second to make it easier. They cannot install a lift as it’s a listed building. Brilliant service all round. Very nice staff. No hesitating in recomending this hotel.

The exterior of the hotel looked like it could do with a freshen up, but the interior was basic but clean. Looks like the money has been spent on the inside. Staff were helpful, but the bar closed at 9.30. Although the hotel overlooks the river and close to the town centre the local surrounding area was very run down. Felt a little uneasy walking around both at night and early in the morning. The park opposite seemed to be a drinking gathering site. We only stayed here as it was local to a wedding we attended.

The staff where really friendly, room looked great and was clean, location very centeral with great views of the river Avon, parking onsite just enter your registration number for free parking fornypur stay, had a drink in the bar and say in the coutuard which was lovely. Did not try the breakfast as not needed. The hotel is being newly decorated so feels very fresh.

Nice room with excellent shower. Just a ten minute walk into town. Free parking.

Hotel is a ghost town wasn't serving food no amenities but rooms nice. 4 min walk to town and great curry house 1 min walk which was really good BYOB

We had a great stay in The Northwick arms although there was no hot breakfast but the location meant that food was very easy to get

The lady on reception was so kind and very helpful .Bathroom needs an upgrade ,Dark in the car park , no evening meal served

Where to start… needs a total refurb . Mould in bathroom & windows. Carpet very stained. Mattresses were also very stained, should have a mattress protector. Overall the mattress & pillows are disgusting

The rooms were not clean, we complained about cleanliness of room 18 , bathroom was dirty.. then got moved to room 17 & was the same !!!

Beautifully presented room, very clean. Couldn't open windows and strangely no mirror in bedroom only over sink in bathroom. Didn't have breakfast but made use of the tea and coffee making facilities.

The breakfast was lovely, the staff were friendly, kind and thoughtful, parking was easy, the little courtyard outside was lovely, just across the road was the river and it was very picturesque. However, the room was tatty, covered in cobwebs there was areas of the ceiling where you could see the water had come through. The bathroom door hinges were loose, which made it hard to close and open, the shower head had been taped on and the water in the sink didn't drain away very quickly as though the drain was blocked and there was a nasty smell that came up the plughole. It was extremely noisy and the bed squeaked loudly everytime we moved. The lady at the fron desk was wonderful and when she saw i was on crutches, she changed our room to one that was more suitable for me. I cannot fault the staff as they were all lovely but the hotel has definitely seen better days

Booked two rooms. Our bathroom wasn’t very clean (mould in corners of bath). The bathroom light was broke in the second room. Reported to receptionist who offered to try and change lightbulb but it was a faulty switch not the bulb. Toenails on floor and someone has left a used dirty towel on the back of the door. Tolerated the rooms as we were only in them for a short time but would not go back.

The room was a Premium, newly decorated and was superficially ok. The bedding was very poor quality, holes in quilt cover, extremely thin quilt, lumpy foam pillows. Windows opened fully on 2nd floor, with glass roof outside. Fire doors in corridor didn’t close properly. Evacuation procedures on a loose piece of card, not fixed. Door lock doesn’t automatically unlock when opening door - fire risk. No night porter, just a phone number. No thermostat, difficult to regulate heating, no heating on my 2nd evening - I phoned reception, she had to ‘override system’. Kettle in very dark corner. Very poor signage to room numbers and then back to reception. Shower dirty round plug hole, pink mould on grouting. Wash basin overflow filthy, also toilet seat hinges. No full length mirror.

Impressive building, super receptionist, who was extremely helpful. Had a super, very clean room overlooking the river and was a glorious Easter weekend. The room was large with a lovely big firm bed and nice pillows. TV, kettle, extra heaters and fan(if you needed them). Double glazed windows and super shower with plenty of lovely hot water. Nice to sit looking at the river in the late afternoon too. On the outskirt of the town so reasonably quiet but easily within walking distance of the town. Will book again for later in the year now we know it is here 😀

A quick stopover en route to le

Large bedrooms and bathrooms. Beds are small. Mattresses have seen better days as springs and wire frames sticking into you all night. There noises they make its like trying to sleep inside Big Ben Bell tower. Small breakfasts. Great location though

I found sleep very difficult as there seemed to be a very noisy boiler (caldera) in my room or very close to the bed. This made noise for most of the night. I asked reception to call me a taxi and they would not, I was just given a list of companies I could call. Also as a lady with a suitcase no help offered with my bags.

There was a heater and air conditioning units in the room which was a relief as the room was very cold and the heating wasn’t on. It was described as a premium room. Seemed standard to me. The bed was comfortable but pillows very thin. The Wi-Fi was good. Close to restaurants.

The hotel is mostly nice, but the room really needs to have a chair, somewhere to put clothes, and a mirror. There were no drawers or suitable shelves, and only two hangers, and nowhere to place a suitcase except on the floor. Three days of scrabbling on the floor to find things out of a suitcase, and nowhere to sit except perched on a high bed isn't fun. The only mirror was high over the basin. Surely these items aren't so expensive to provide?

I didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment. I stayed in a ‘standard double’, and was disappointed with the room. The heating didn’t work, the TV didn’t work and it took almost 5 mins for the hot water to reach the taps. (A sign in the bathroom said to wait for at least 5 mins for the hot water to run through the pipes. There was a light immediately outside the room’s window which the venetian blind didn’t block out so sleep was hard. The bed was very soft and the bottom sheet wasn’t tucked in - no problem as I did that myself. The staff I met were very nice and friendly, if I stayed here again I would definitely upgrade and not stay in the same room. (Room 21) It felt very unloved and neglected.

Booked as premium room, was told it would have a queen size bed which was stated on the email confirmation. Upon arrival it was obvious the room we thought we had booked was not what we were given. This was queried and we were told there were only double size beds were available. Showed staff the email confirmation we received and was told by the member of staff the images we were supplied with were not correct and didn’t represent the hotel’s “premium” room. Rooms were clean but had many scruff marks on walls in the room. Room came with a smart tv but we were unable to use as the remote did not work. We unable to turn the tv off completely so we were left with a background light of the tv on all night. Tried to contact out of hours phone number as a member of our party were unable to access their room due to the electric fob not working - mobile number which was left was incorrect only containing 10 digits. Took 40 minutes for anyone to help them. Before check out we asked if we were able purchase hot drinks from bar area and was told we had to wait 10 minutes, this was at 9:45 when breakfast would be served anyway. Staff weren’t helpful at all. Overall we had an okay stay but due to small things we encountered we would not book here again. We would of been happy with the standard of the room if it was accurately described. Images and descriptions need to be updated. We made staff aware of this and did not receive any apologies and we left feeling quite dismissed.

Excellent customer service and good freindly staff

I had to sleep on the floor even though I booked a 2 single bed room and was force to have a 1 bed, plus the manager was very rude.

We were dreadfully late for our arrival (in the middle of the night) and the receptionist waited for us. The location was technically not in The Cotswold, but it was a minor distance away. Evesham itself was very interesting with its own history.

Having stayed at the same hotel in May, partly due to its location, I was again very happy with the professional & friendly nature of the staff I met and the room itself. I also enjoyed the breakfast. The hotel was also happy to look after my luggage on the day I booked out as I was meeting up with people. The only hiccup was the heating in the bathroom being on all the time on a hot weekend. The staff , when told, weren't able to resolve this.

The bathroom door hinges were loose, which made it hard to close and open, the shower head had been taped on and the water in the sink didn't drain away very quickly as though the drain was blocked and there was a nasty smell that came up the plughole. It was extremely noisy and the bed squeaked loudly everytime we moved. The lady at the fron desk was wonderful and when she saw i was on crutches, she changed our room to one that was more suitable for me. I cannot fault the staff as they were all lovely but the hotel has definitely seen better days

A delightful place. The staff are friendly and helpful and the bedroom was comfortable. The public rooms are tastefully decorated and well-furnished. There is an overall feeling of guests being welcome and care being taken to make their stay pleasant. Highly recommended.

Very convenient central location with free parking and lots of restaurants/takeaways close by. Nice location opposite river and park for lovely walks.

The room was ok. There was a sign on the stairs saying ‘Please remove dirty shoes’. People obviously don’t. Stairs hadn’t been hoovered in a while. Room was ok, with kettle, TV, and en suite bathroom. It’s ok for a budget Hotel. Right on the River front and close to shops and restaurants. The restaurant is closed on Mondays, so no breakfast review. I would stay again

We stayed in a double room but it only had one chair. Two would have been better for us. Also a hairdryer would have been an advantage. Otherwise it was a very good stay. Very close to the lovely town.

We were late to check-in, so I phoned the hotel to warn them we’d be arriving late. I was told that arriving after 2300 would incur a late check-in fee, thankfully I didn’t have to find out how much this would be. The lady I spoke to gave clear instructions for our after hours arrival and was helpful throughout. I paid extra for a superior room. The bed was king size and fairly squeezed into the room, which you couldn’t swing a cat in. At double the price of the standard room, I expect more for my money, I’m sorry. I’d also paid for 2 full breakfast only to be told Mondays were continental breakfast only. I did get a partial refund. The locks on the doors are a pain. You hold the key card against the handle mechanism and wait for it to say ‘unlocked’. Unfortunately, the mechanical voice is inside the room so you can’t hear it when you’re outside trying to get in unless you have bat ears. On a positive, it is well located and the staff (well, receptionist, we didn’t meet anyone else) was helpful.

Its in very good location close to amenities need attention in regards to the facilities in the room. I.e kettle and bath sink .overall i would recommend this hotel. Nice breakfast too

Rooms clean, bed very comfy. Recently decorated. Instant hot water. Key card was slow to work and quite annoying. Breakfast freshly cooked and good presentation. Pleased wiith my choice of hotel.
