Lovely looking hotel- the only nice looking hotel/restaurant in the area. There is no direct contact number or switchboard so you have to walk down to the receptionist each time (also no lifts). Breakfast was over priced. A standard 12 pound breakfast included a buffet of cereal, toast, juice, 2 types of pastry and melon. An extra 6 pound so 18 pounds for a full english. There is a lot of road noise inside from traffic and rowdy late night people outside. Car park has limited spots as not exclusively for hotel guests. Due to it being in close proximiyy to the beach- if you drive off in the day no parking when you get back. Rotterdam is a run down beach town- a local chippy with a rating of 3, a tesco and lots of run down shops that have been closed. However, the only decent place to stay in rotterdam.

The staffs are all excelent, warm and supportive. The family room we booked was clean enough and with nice furnitures but had no window. But still ok. The hotel is old style so there was no lift which was quite difficult for tourists like us carrying a large suitcases, but the staff had kindly supported us. No air conditioner in the room

We had a nice stay at the White Horses. It's a great hotel in an excellent location, right by the seafront, with very convenient, free parking. The staff are all very friendly and do seem to go the extra mile to ensure you enjoy your stay. Our room was nice, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. However, it faced the road. It was extremely hot that weekend, and although they put a decent quality fan in the room, it did little to cool the room down. We had to open the windows and the traffic noise resulted in a very disturbed sleep on both nights. I would recommend paying extra for a sea facing room! Having said that, we don't blame the hotel for this, as it's not their fault the weather was so hot, but aircon in the room would have been a real blessing that weekend. Another word of warning, Rottingdean is absolutely lovely but it really is a sleepy little village. We tried to find somewhere to eat on the Sunday night and everywhere was closed! Luckily, the hotel was super accommodating and agreed to keep the kitchen open later for us. Overall, I would recommend this hotel apart from during especially hot weather!

The hotel has been upgraded considerably and it's now much smarter. They've missed a bit here and there though, shower fitting was broken.. The location is brilliant with parking included.

Everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly. The service was great, my room was spacious and very clean and they had lovely touches such as delicious little treats of fudge and chocolate. It’s in a great location on the seafront and very close to Brighton. It has a car park at the back which is free when you give reception your registration. Great value and a lovely team throughout the hotel.

Appalling condition of toilets. Moss growing along the back of the cracked porcelaine sinks. Inside doors of cubicles were black with uncleaned dirt. Cigarette butts and rubbish accumulated on sea facing balcony. Under sinks in bathroom filthy.

Had room 4 on the ground floor. Spotlessly clean & a massive bathroom (accessable). good quality linen and towels. Only drawback for me was that there was only coffee from a pod machine & no milk. Would certainly return when in the area again.

Stunning view and in v close priximity to the sea. The rooms with balconies are too shared so i suggest using partitions in between. Mattresses are not that comfy for me but that might be me not liking spring pockets. The rooms are squeaky clean even the shower! have never seen such cleanliness and care for detail. No dust no old stains no mould! Well done to the cleaners team!

Third stay in the last few weeks and third dog-friendly room. All immaculate, well-appointed and beautifully recently retro-renovated in Art Deco style. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Only issue we had was a rogue resident in the adjacent room deciding to noisily run a bath at 2am, waking us up! Won't put us off returning though

Rottingdean is a pleasure. We enjoyed our stay. The hotel and balcony a delight. Reservations about lack of fridge in room, a small maintenance issue e.g. light bulbs dead in room, the toilet paper holder came away from the wall, internet connection temperamental. Reception and breakfast staff friendly and efficient. Room cleaning first-rate. Choice too limited for breakfast menu.

We were very late arriving and the young man on reception phoned us to see if we were on the way. He waited to welcome us. Much appreciated. A phone number for the hotel would have been helpful!

Another word of warning, Rottingdean is absolutely lovely but it really is a sleepy little village. We tried to find somewhere to eat on the Sunday night and everywhere was closed! Luckily, the hotel was super accommodating and agreed to keep the kitchen open later for us. Overall, I would recommend this hotel apart from during especially hot weather!
We had a nice stay at the White Horses. It's a great hotel in an excellent location, right by the seafront, with very convenient, free parking. The staff are all very friendly and do seem to go the extra mile to ensure you enjoy your stay. Our room was nice, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. However, it faced the road. It was extremely hot that weekend, and although they put a decent quality fan in the room, it did little to cool the room down. We had to open the windows and the traffic noise resulted in a very disturbed sleep on both nights. I would recommend paying extra for a sea facing room! Having said that, we don't blame the hotel for this, as it's not their fault the weather was so hot, but aircon in the room would have been a real blessing that weekend. White Horses is one of those gems. You know you're somewhere special when you notice the little things someone has prepared for you. Personal notes written to you, strawberries and raspberries in the room. A panoramic view that takes your breath away. The staff are amazing too. So friendly, interested and amazing. If you want to feel special, stay at the White Horses!!!

Well what a little gem of a place! A colleague suggested we book it for a recent trip and I was not disappointed. The staff are amazing, you are welcomed and treated like a person not just another guest. I have a nut allergy and the resturant staff need no reminding once I had asked once. The rooms are wonderful and the little piece of treasure is a great surprise. Will definetly stay again for business or pleasure.

I loved the location over the “white horses,” which refer to the wave crests in the ocean bay below the property. The setting is beautiful in the middle of a quiet village 10 minutes from Brighton & Hove. It sits over the white cliffs and an expanse of beach. Great opportunity to stay at a wonderful property! Nice breakfast at the restaurant, too!

We arrived from at 9am coming in on an overnight flight from the US (plus train into Brighton and bus to Rottingdean). The hotel staff graciously offered to get our room ready in an hour so we could get settled. The setting is picturesque, the town is tiny and quaint with lovely shops, cafes and pubs. The room was large and comfortable, the hotel food was great and reasonably priced, there’s a bus stop right outside the hotel door with frequent buses to Brighton. This was a completely random find via Google maps, looking to be close to Brighton but not right in the madness and we were so impressed, we can’t wait to go back!!

Loved the decor, the attention to detail was refreshing. It had a luxury feel, and it made a change to be given fresh milk instead of the sachets. The ambience for breakfast was simply stunning, and the food was equally as good. We walked to the marina, watched a film, grabbed a meal and strolled back again. Perfect and will definitely visit again.

Even though I stayed only one night, I had a fabulous time at White Horses. I had a Junior Suite with a sea view. Loved the bathtub that looked across the coast. The room was upholstered and designed beautifully. Don't miss out on a meal at the restaurant below!

Great hotel now it has been refurbished. Excellent quality rooms and facilities. Restaurant lets it down with limited and expensive menu. Sauces needed with meals to overcome dryness. Limited choice was a let down. Breakfast expensive so did not use.

I Stayed here last year when it was very tired. I hadn't realised i'd booked the same place. It was a lovely surprise to find it has been completely renovated into lovely hotel that is very worthy of its sea front location. My only gripe would be that breakfast was very expensive.

The rooms are clean and tidy and maintained daily during your stay. The staff friendly and efficient. The hotel's aspect and position is ideal. The sea in front the village behind. I would change the breakfast set-up but that is personal taste. Who wants 'sweet potato' with 'samphire' hash browns? No option to have real hash browns with no funny business. The rooms are pleasant but a mini-fridge would be helpful. The balcony superb. The local bus services are very convenient. All in all a delightful experience.

We had a fantastic stay at The White Horses and would happily return. One of the main reasons we booked was the free on-site parking, and it worked perfectly. Although it’s a public car park, it was really convenient and made visiting the area completely stress-free. We stayed in one of the suite rooms with the bath overlooking the sea, and it was a lovely place to relax after a day out. The room was spotless, the bed was really comfortable and the air conditioning was superb, which made a huge difference during our stay. The large shower and Nespresso machine were also much appreciated. We stayed on the top floor and found the room to be really quiet. Another big plus was the location. We wanted to visit Brighton without staying right in the middle of the crowds and expensive city centre parking. The bus stop is literally outside the hotel, with frequent buses every few minutes and easy contactless payment, so getting into Brighton couldn’t have been simpler. The staff were also excellent. The receptionist gave us a really warm welcome, was always happy to help and made us feel genuinely looked after throughout our stay. Overall, the hotel exceeded our expectations and was a great base for exploring both Rottingdean and Brighton. We’d definitely stay here again.
