The hotel is located very close to the town centre & an easy walk from/to the train station. Our room was okay, but the water for the shower didn't get very warm. Our sink drained very slowly too and the toilet was difficult to flush. The gym was outstanding - by far the best I have used in a hotel. We didn't have breakfast as the price was crazy expensive and there are plenty of food shops & cafes in the vicinity of the hotel. The staff were very pleasant. The only issue I thought was a little off. In Hotels.com description it implies that tea & coffee is available in reception, which it is, but at hotel charges. I understood from the description this was offered to hotel guests as a complimentary service. I suppose I was a little naive.

Nice location, would be nicer if they advised you which car park is their concession car park before you get there. Lots of takeaways nearby, and shopping centre next door. Room was clean, and plenty of pub games in the foyer to play.

Really good value, massive comfy bed. Free games in the hotel such as darts and poole a massive plus. Expensive drinks but we found this to be standard throughout Reading, London prices! Great location at the top of town.

Please be aware that contrary to what hotels.com say no parking exists on site you have to park at a very expensive car park opposite. Not happy

Nice location and great reception area. Downside is parking although the shopping centre car park is located very close by the centre itself is closed late at night which entails a unfriendly walk around dark walkways. Other than that, lovely central hotel with well appointed rooms and friendly staff.

Black mould on the ceiling, what i hope was spit dried to the wall, hairs in the shower, aircon did not work on hot humid night, window seals blown and noisy all night. Sign of a quality hotel when on checkout the DONT ask if you enjoyed your stay.

The stay wasn't as good as the first time we stayed. The room seems to not be as clean and tidy and their was parts of the decore coming off especially in the bathroom a bove the shower. The ceiling had crumbling paint and the toilet had a brown stain in the bowl. The sink again wasn't tidy as it was last year. The bed also wasn't comfortable, it's advertised as a king size bed, which infact was two single beds joined together leaving a uncomfortable crack down the middle of the bed. Also no king size duvet, rather two single duvets, no very nice when trying to relax with my wife. All in all not a great stay, but not the worst we have encountered. Think the hotel needs a revamp and maybe putting in a comfortable bed with a comfortable mattress without any cracks down the bed and a proper king size duvet to have a good night's sleep.

Hotel rooms had plenty of space. Seemed to be busy in the evening with lots going on. Walkable distance from town Centre. Only thing that let it down slightly was a terrible smell in the corridors and staff could barely speak or acknowledge us (on leaving and handing in keycard).

Rooms desperately need an uplift, soiled and faulty furniture, dusty ceiling, stained communal carpets that are not regularly hoovered, abrupt reception staff when approached with issues. Suggested I leave at 9 pm shortly after I'd reported the issues even though I'm heavily pregnant, and book elsewhere for a full refund. I was treated with contempt. Overall a terible stay. I hadn't been to the PH Reading since 2019, it's become a cheap hostel. Disappointed as I expected more from Pentahotel. Hotels.com promptly refunded my second night.

Lovely hotel in the centre of Reading, with excellent customer service. The wheelchair accessible room was perfect for my needs. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. This hotel will be a regular place for us to stay when in the Reading area going forward. Highly recommended!

Hotel is lovely, modern and clean however there were 2 issues during my stay. Firstly the air conditioning was not working, it was producing warm air into the room. They sent someone out to look at it however they explained it was on winter mode and did not produce cold air during winter, i would not have booked this hotel if i had known it did not have air con. Also i was woken at 2am by doors being slammed multiple times, after speaking to reception they said it was a member of staff who was delivering items to rooms. Surely staff should be as quite a possible during the night so guests can sleep

Room was a bit dated with no double glazing so being right next to a major duel carrigeway was very noisy. Biggest issue the curtains didnt cover the windows which i didnt find out till 530am the next morning which was shocking. Went to check out and asked for the invoice which the night manager lied and said he couldnt give it to me, after relaising he had made a mistke tried to back track cliaming notes had been left about me and that its a Hotels.com issue. All of the shift people were sat around and had to corral to even get them to engage, appeciate its a rubbish shift but they were so rude. Needless to say I wont be staying here again or the pentahotel group if this is the quality,

Ask for a room at the back of the hotel. The traffic noise was horrendous. Air conditioning is lousy and you have to have the windows open if it’s very hot. It’s like sleeping in the central reservation.

I love staying there. Amazing staff who always go above and beyond to make the experience top notch. Cherry on the cake is the 3pm checkout time for Sunday. Will always be my number one choice. And it’s within my budget

The security was very rude and intimidatory. They Would not allow me into the property without my key card. I explained that my friend has the key card and went back to the room early. I was the lead guest in the booking. I had email confirmation, my ID and the card I used to pay. Hotel security still refused me entry. I had to call the reception desk to get approval access. This was 4am. Prior to this rude hiccup I enjoyed my stay. After this incident it put a dampen on the rest of the trip.

All very good except an ‘eco’ policy of not automatically tidying the rooms…. Which is fine! However, I put the door ‘card’ on stating I’d like my room serviced and it didn’t happen for whatever reason.

Great stay, comfortable and clean. The friendly receptionist noted Id asked for a quiet room and was happy to accommodate. Room had all we needed for an overnight stay in Reading visiting friends. The bar on ground flr looked good but we did t get opputunity to try out.

The good: Modern, surprisingly spacious rooms for these rates, a much better than expected and well looked after gym, and a fun and funky design throughout the hotel. The bad: shocking amount of litter right outside the entrance to the building, in the flower beds, etc (why on earth wouldn't you clean that up? Street cleaners aren't gonna do it and makes such an awful first impression). Location is very central but not on a great street. Finally, in terms of security, we gave our luggage to reception to look after while we waited to check in. We returned to see our bags had been put just to one side of (and outside of) reception, wide out in the open, no security at all. Overall, it's an excellent economy hotel but could be better - and I'd pay a little extra if it was.

Room was of usual standard, but the Hotel happily took our money for breakfast and the decided that you had to guess they were not putting the buffet on and go to main reception to order what was a third rate, couldn't be bothered plate of food.

Not many plug sockets in the room, where you’d think there’d be a socket there wasn’t. Could have had more tea / coffee selection. Breakfast, needed more attention as think staffing got caught out, dirty tables, out of food, crockery and utensils.

With only a few staff it's hard to get served quickly. The breakfast seems to be getting worse. I arrived at 8am to find nearly everything gone! No bacon, beans, eggs, yoghurt or glasses for juice!

Great venue value for money . But breakfast was a real let down . Had the potential to be good , presented well but actually awful - overcooked , cold and left un replenished early on in the breakfast session on a Sunday . Not worth £18 per person at all .
