Beautiful hotel set in amazing grounds. Staff were so friendly and immaculately dressed. Room was large and well equipped with everything you required for a comfortable stay. Hotel is close proximity to Ayr town centre. Breakfast was exceptional with a great choice and was of great quality products. First time I have been at this hotel but already planning a return trip.

The hotel is ideally located for Ayr and the racecourse. The grounds are lovely and there is a large, free car park. Check in and check out were both warm and efficient. Standard rooms are in the Courtyard area. The room was clean but very dated in terms of its decor. One of the taps in the bathroom was loose and moved. The toilet ran/dripped all night which was disturbing. There was no air conditioning. Breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant. Guests are told to find their own table and serve their own food and drinks from the hot and cold buffet options. The range of hot food was good and included potato cakes and Lorne sausages, and the cold buffet included various melons, yoghurt, many cereals and warmed pastries. There was no choice of cooked/cured meats or cheeses. Tables were left dirty and we observed people being seated at tables that had not been fully cleaned/refreshed.

Lovely Hotel and Staff. Room was large and comfortable. Gardens and outside area is very well kept and stunning for photos. We had lunch in the Jockey Club restaurant which we could not fault. Stayed as we were going to Ayr Races which is literally a stone throw away through a gate and you’re there. I would definitely stay again.

The main hotel with reception is lovely, beautiful fountain outside the main entrance. Lovely staff :-) My room was in a separate more modern building, very clean and fresh but no lift to the first floor where i was located. Very spacious room, good size bathroom with desk space to work. Extra blankets and pillows were available, as was iron and board, and a proper hairdryer!

Lovely place, good quality. Just two points 1) signage in car park and to reception needs to be improved 2) breakfast was slow coming, and if delay was due to kitchen being busy it would have been nice to know as we felt as if forgotten

Stayed over a busy weekend of Horse Racing, with Ayr Racecourse directly accessible. Stayed within the hotel, as opposed to the courtyard. Big room, bug bathroom, had a substantial breakfast and chose to dine on the Friday night. Found the dining experience to be excellent. Staff are top notch too, very friendly with nothing too much trouble for the team. Top marks

Lovely hotel next to the racecourse. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, My father is in a wheelchair and had an accessible room which was well appointed and comfortable. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant and it was excellent and good value. We were there to meet family and we all met up and had morning coffee, all lovely and the lounge area was very good. Perfect for a small reunion and catch up. Thank you

The location was excellent. The outside of the building within the rooms in it seemed a bit rundown, but the actual rooms were newly updated and very clean and spacious. There were lovely towels and a robe and slippers. The bed was very comfortable. There was a kettle with coffee and tea and shortbread cookies at the bedside. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, I was very impressed and highly recommend this hotel.

The room in the courtyard was very dated. The bathroom was dysfunctional and dangerous. Entrance to courtyard was scruffy and dirty. Quilt was not big enough for bed. We would not recommend this hotel

Very helpful staff, all round the hotel, from check-in to departure. Clean tidy room serviced daily. Breakfast buffet was very good - lot of choice. Dining rooms were very clean. Evening menu was decidedly 'lacking' something. Choicve was very limited & very fish biased. One evening meal disappointed me greatly. Not as described on the menu. However, on discussing it with reception, the matter was fully resolved. Overall, a good stay & I would return to the hotel, but hope that by then the menu might have changed

Stayed here for two nights as part of a longer business trip. The hotel is located at a race course and has a lovely grounds with water fountains and other features. The room was alright for a couple of nights. I was expecting something similar to the photos but it was wayyy more dated. Being at the racecourse, I'm sure it has seen some heavy sessions in its time. The smell of stale cigarettes greeted me as I first walked through the door. The towel radiator in the bathroom gave me a little tingle when I touched it. The stay was saved by the excellent food in the Jockey Club restaurant coupled with the brilliant service there. Breakfast was different on each day with day one being a buffet style - the best buffet breakfast I've ever had. The second day was table service, equally as great. Evening meals were fantastic and the waiting staff even brought out little tasters which were compliments of the chef. The hotel bar is OK with the odd singer playing as entertainment.

The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The booking profile is very misleading. It only shows the main building, which is an attractive and classy building. I expected to be staying there. However, the hotel rooms are in 2 blocks of very poor quality and unappealing decor which I wouldn't even consider to be up to the quality of a Travelodge. The rooms were basic with stained carpet, although the bed was comfortable. My daughters were staying in a different hotel in the centre of Ayr which was absolutely beautiful and much cheaper than the Western, which I feel is overpriced for what it is.

Our room was not in the main building and was dated and smelled damp. The blinds were removed on the west window and the sun heated the room up tremendously. With no air conditioning or a fan, it was uncomfortable. The main building was lovely but the others need a remodel to match.

Staying in tbe out buildings was ok with the exception of no Wifi. Will not stay again as made it impissible to complete my work. Stayed 4 nights with no wifi or when it did connect, it would drop off within 1 minute. Very dissapointed.

Lovely place, good quality. Just two points 1) signage in car park and to reception needs to be improved 2) breakfast was slow coming, and if delay was due to kitchen being busy it would have been nice to know as we felt as if forgotten

Very nice hotel. Spacious, quiet room, very comfortable, great shower. Staff were all bubbly and very friendly, breakfast was very good, wifi was fast and free. There was nothing to fault and I'd very happily return.

We loved our stay at the Western House Hotel. We were in the main building which was stunning. Beautiful spacious room, comfy bed. Staff excellent and food very good. We'll definitely be back. Thank you.

Stayed over a busy weekend of Horse Racing, with Ayr Racecourse directly accessible. Stayed within the hotel, as opposed to the courtyard. Big room, bug bathroom, had a substantial breakfast and chose to dine on the Friday night. Found the dining experience to be excellent. Staff are top notch too, very friendly with nothing too much trouble for the team. Top marks

Sadly understaffed. The poor lad in the bar was solo even when busy as the manager just walked around. Close to a scene out of Faulty Towers.

Very helpful staff, all round the hotel, from check-in to departure. Clean tidy room serviced daily. Breakfast buffet was very good - lot of choice. Dining rooms were very clean. Evening menu was decidedly 'lacking' something. Choicve was very limited & very fish biased. One evening meal disappointed me greatly. Not as described on the menu. However, on discussing it with reception, the matter was fully resolved. Overall, a good stay & I would return to the hotel, but hope that by then the menu might have changed

Beautiful hotel set in amazing grounds. Staff were so friendly and immaculately dressed. Room was large and well equipped with everything you required for a comfortable stay. Hotel is close proximity to Ayr town centre. Breakfast was exceptional with a great choice and was of great quality products. First time I have been at this hotel but already planning a return trip.

This property is amazing well kept spacious grounds. Lovely older building (main hotel). Excellent food service and very helpful staff.Walkable to Mill Street shops and a modern Tesco around the corner. Big shout out to Elaine for all her assistance. Would I stay here again? In an instant. Rooms need mini fridges but other than that great place, good location and a memorable stay!

Couldn’t get to sleep because of people making so much noise upstairs from us and also my husband and I ordered steak as we went for dinner with the family and my husband’s steak had to be returned as it wasn’t cooked properly and when they come back with it it still wasn’t cooked properly so he couldn’t eat it BUT still had to pay for it!!!!

Love this hotel. Stayed many times. Disappointed with quality of breakfasts this time. Hard eggs despite specific request and burnt to a frazzle potato scones. Will try again though

Hotel was great. Quick & friendly check in, room was clean & spacious. A bit noisy in the early hours when some wedding reception guests returned to their rooms. Fantastic meal in the hotel restaurant, reasonably priced & good portions. Overall very good

Stayed here for two nights as part of a longer business trip. The hotel is located at a race course and has a lovely grounds with water fountains and other features. The room was alright for a couple of nights. I was expecting something similar to the photos but it was wayyy more dated. Being at the racecourse, I'm sure it has seen some heavy sessions in its time. The smell of stale cigarettes greeted me as I first walked through the door. The towel radiator in the bathroom gave me a little tingle when I touched it. The stay was saved by the excellent food in the Jockey Club restaurant coupled with the brilliant service there. Breakfast was different on each day with day one being a buffet style - the best buffet breakfast I've ever had. The second day was table service, equally as great. Evening meals were fantastic and the waiting staff even brought out little tasters which were compliments of the chef. The hotel bar is OK with the odd singer playing as entertainment.

We only stayed for one night in an accessible room ( we are in no way disabled, this room was assigned to us) in an annex of the hotel. The room was spacious and clean and we were provided with dressing gowns and slippers. The receptionist who checked us in was friendly and cheerful and the process was fast and easy. Getting some drinks at the bar proved a little tricky as one member of the bar staff was still training and the other lady did not handle a small issue as well as she might have. This didn’t ruin our experience by any means. Breakfast was a well stocked buffet. The hot options were hot and nicely presented. All in all, worth the cost. We would certainly stay here again if we required accommodation in Ayr.
