Very nice stay at this historic inn. Clean, comfortable rooms with amazing staff. Lunch and drinks at the lounge were very good. It’s a building built near the late 1600’s (as I was told) but has been well maintained and it’s in a great area of town. We’d recommend to anyone.

The rooms need a facelift and the hotel says it has free parking available, but the car park is only small and is open to the public. I ended up paying in the multi-storey carpark and carrying everything across town to the hotel.

The staff were very polite and friendly. The room was very nice and the bed very comfortable. The small car park was some distance away and being abused by the public (lashing down with rain)

Outside decoration of building was good. Architecture was interesting and Lady on reception provided me with a brief history of the hotel. When I arrived in the car she gave clear directions to the private hotel car park. Breakfast was to a very good standard and was self service on the day I visited. My only moan was again the TV remote, whose batteries were as dead as a dodo. I reported this to the desk on leaving.

While this is clearly a old hotel the public spaces were nicely presented and the room, though small, was pleasant enough and good value for £75 a night, The car park is small and a little separate from the hotel which was a little of concern. The bar is open all day and is a pleasant place to be but disappointing that there is no food offered.

The hotel was lovely apart from the walk to rooms and being disabled it wasn’t easy room 27 was the furthest room from the lift . Also what spoilt the stay for us was the lack of privacy with a real thin door with a big gap underneath dividing inbetween rooms, so you can hear every word next door said all night and that’s not a nice feeling sorry Then to top that we got blocked in the hotel car park by a non resident illegally parked. When asked could they get the car removed I was told they can’t do that. Luckily one of the staff was able to move her car so I was finally able to get out and leave. Please put a camera on your car park and enforce the parking fine for illegal parking and that way you won’t get bad reviews regarding the matter which I was told happens daily. Thanks

Nice hotel and great staff however when I stayed there was a festival in the town and hotel had a club open until 1 am right below my room, would suggest advising customers if happening again

The hotel is centrally and conveniently located. The room was dirty with dusty blinds, dirty floors and mouldy silicone in the bath/shower and was dated. The staff and service was excellent throughout and I was made to feel welcome from the moment I stepped through the front door with every need met with a smile.

Staff where amazing and helofuk However the cleanliness of the room was in a poor state, as there where clear sign of dog hairs on the carpet. Mould on the shower glass, stains on the bedframe. And melted chocolate on the towel that was folded on my bed when we first arrived

The staff were friendly and helpful plus the bar and dining area were very nice. However, the rooms looked tired and unclean - there were spiderwebs on the ceiling and significant black mold in the bathroom specifically around the bathtub and under the bath mat. The siding of the bath was loose/broken, the toilet cistern was faulty and would make noise unless you lifted the top to adjust the mechanism which revealed more black mold underneath and behind the toilet. I would share photos but the app wont let me for some reason. Please also be aware that when the hotel states that it offers breakfast this is not a hot breakfast, it is purely toast, cereal, cheese, ham and a salad.

First impression of lobby, bar and common areas was good. Rooms were horrible, dirty, carpets disgusting, toilet dirty, cob webs, shower door didn’t close, bed was old and lumpy, shower water too hot and hard to adjust. Need to update locks on door, using keys and hard to lock. They did have nice towels and bedding was clean. These comments were regarding rooms 20 and 22. I don’t understand reviews on this sight being good.

I have stayed at this Hotel a number of times and find it good value for money. The staff are always helpful and friendly. The room I stayed in was spacious, clean and well furnished. There are areas of the Hotel that look a little dated but generally the Hotel is good value for money. I will stay there again for my next business trip. I also left something in my room when I checked out but I had a phone call a little later to let me know they had put it to one side for me.

Fantastic hotel,very clean and tidy and the room was fantastic very large room with plenty of space huge bed which i had the best nights sleep in a long time bathroom very large with a fantastic shower and plenty of tea and coffee in the room which makes a change only downside the tv was very small,overall fantastic hotel will definatly look to make sure thats my first option to stay next time

A really lovely old-fashioned hotel, conveniently located for the town centre and railway station. I was impressed by the size of the room and bathroom, and the fact that the bed was a four-poster, especially given how reasonably priced the room was. Breakfast was very good and all the staff I dealt with were very friendly and helpful.

Shower not working, and ripped bedding. Area is noisy but that's not the hotels fault. Bed as hard as rock with flat pillows. Not a double bed, but two singles pushed together. I got about two hours of sleep due to being so uncomfortable

For less than £70 it was ok. The bed was comfortable and clean. The bathroom needs modernising. The bathroom window did not close. There are no curtains in the room, and blinds let loads of light in. Could hear all the noise from outside and other rooms talking.

Hotels.com gave wrong information about a room, saying that it slept 3 but was only suitable for two. The receptionist at the hotel was very understanding and was able to move us to a larger room more suitable for us at a slightly extra cost - we were very grateful for this. The rooms were nice and comfortable and breakfast was lovely. The member of staff in the breakfast room as very good with our 6 year old son, chatting to him and asking about his holiday, it made his morning.
Hotels.com gave wrong information about a room, saying that it slept 3 but was only suitable for two. Older building with a few quiks but when the lady who checked me in saw I was very tired she upgraded my room at no cost. Parking is not on site but close. Neighborhood looks a bit sketchy at night but thats my personal feeling.

I've stayed at the Castle Hotel several times and it's always a pleasant experience. The staff are friendly and attentive, the rooms are comfortable and well-stocked, and the location is very convenient for the train station, the town centre and Neath Castle. Always my first choice of hotel when I'm visiting Neath.

Room 5 noise till about 11:30pm below is bar/karaoke and on Main Street with pubs adjacent with noise, then bin men started 5:20am not good after a 6hour drive

4th or 5th time staying here in the last couple of years. Travel for work and visits to nearby clients so just 1 night stays but they always treat me well. Always a comfortable stay but this time upgraded to a larger room by the lovely lady at the desk so I'd be more comfortable (I'm very tall) in a family room. Breakfast always great. Hotel is very easy to get to and find just a couple of mins walk from the station.

This building is old and damp in areas. However good value for money and central. My room was beautiful. Windows quite mucky. Reception lady polite and helpful. Continental breakfast disappointing. If your wanting a quiet stay this hotel is located directly in front of a very loud nightclub so take this into consideration on a Friday/ satarday night🙂

I've stayed at the Castle Hotel several times and it's always a pleasant experience. The staff are friendly and attentive, the rooms are comfortable and well-stocked, and the location is very convenient for the train station, the town centre and Neath Castle. Always my first choice of hotel when I'm visiting Neath.

Unable to sleep due to noise from surrounding bars /clubs Unable to hear tv in room due to noise even with windows shut. No parking available. Wifi not working. Tv remote faulty. No chef so no evening meal. Very noisy outside and hotel unable to offer any remedy that night. Did not stay full duration due to lack of sleep. Unsuitable especially for a child if you expect to be able to sleep at a reasonable hour. Very unhappy. Staff were considerate and apologetic though.

Nice hotel and great staff however when I stayed there was a festival in the town and hotel had a club open until 1 am right below my room, would suggest advising customers if happening again

The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are very spacious and the bed are very comfortable, the hotel is in a good location for all the amenities/shops and bars, it is only about 10 minutes walk from the train station..

Breakfast was terrible. Billed as ‘continental’ but was a couple of loaves of cheap white sliced bread and re-slided cheap cheese. Both the sort of thing you’d get from a ‘Happy Shopper’. I would have made some toast but there was only one ‘two slice’ toaster for all the residents. No bread rolls, croissants, cheese selection etc.

i regularly stay in the castle when i go back to neath to visit my parents. it’s always good. Nice rooms, nice bar and good food (their new chef started recently) Would recommend

It was really disaapointing they did not offer a cooked breakfast. This has always been out go to place. However on this basis we wont be staying again. They kept sayimg to people "it did say on the website".not great customer service. As continental they only offered chesse, ham and a boiled egg (cold from the day before) !!

While this is clearly a old hotel the public spaces were nicely presented and the room, though small, was pleasant enough and good value for £75 a night, The car park is small and a little separate from the hotel which was a little of concern. The bar is open all day and is a pleasant place to be but disappointing that there is no food offered.

A really lovely old-fashioned hotel, conveniently located for the town centre and railway station. I was impressed by the size of the room and bathroom, and the fact that the bed was a four-poster, especially given how reasonably priced the room was. Breakfast was very good and all the staff I dealt with were very friendly and helpful.

The staff were friendly and helpful plus the bar and dining area were very nice. However, the rooms looked tired and unclean - there were spiderwebs on the ceiling and significant black mold in the bathroom specifically around the bathtub and under the bath mat. The siding of the bath was loose/broken, the toilet cistern was faulty and would make noise unless you lifted the top to adjust the mechanism which revealed more black mold underneath and behind the toilet. I would share photos but the app wont let me for some reason. Please also be aware that when the hotel states that it offers breakfast this is not a hot breakfast, it is purely toast, cereal, cheese, ham and a salad.

A nice stay as always. Although only 4 stars this time as breakfast limited, No cooked food and not really made up for by ‘continental’ option. This is probably only temporary though as they have no Chef. Although they seem to be actively trying to recruit to be fair,

The toaster took ages. Food was fresh but could have more selection Room was clean and tidy but could have mugs instead of cups Shower was hard to turn off and on. Thw hotel was booked for parking but still found it difficult

Stayed on a Saturday.music till midnight across the road.nightclub next door.no hot water in the bathroom.nowhere to fill kettle in room.Gluten free cornflakes (only option) solid in box.lod noise every 1/2hr though the night as was above beer cellar and probaly a compressor.sqeaky laminate floor.Nothing good about this place

Reception staff were friendly and pleasant. The further into the hotel you got the more tired and grubby it felt, Venetian blinds didn't look as if they'd seen a duster in a long time. The room itself was pleasant enough, however even though the blinds were shut, there was still lots of light entering the room. There was a glass panel on the shower, however loads of water ended up outside the cubicle. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty.

We were kept awake until 2am with very loud music and shouting from nearby bars/clubs. Turns out Neath is a party town on weekends. I had to get up at 5am the next day so it was an awful stay. When I complained to the hotel they told me that I should have asked them for ear plugs. Avoid like the plague unless you’re a reveller
