Silver Seas Hotel

False advertising. The pool is not working and the damage is extensive. It clearly hasn't been working for a long time and doesnt seem like it will be up and running again any time soon. The concrete ocean access also isn't maintained. Really none of the common areas of the property are being repaored or maintained. I think if they were honest about the state of the grounds and priced the place accordingly it wouldn't be so bad. The room and furniture was outdated but it big with an amazing view.

The view from the room was lovely, the air conditioning unit great and the room was ok. However, the pool is NOT open due to needing structural work. This is false advertising as we only booked here as it had a pool.The breakfast was awful and overpriced and sadly so was the coffee.

It is close to the town center of Ocho Rios. Shopping for anything was walking distant there is a balcony overlooking the carribean sea and the rooms were well kept. The staffs were friendly The wifi was poor and the the tv in the rooms are small.

I have stayed at this property many times over the years. It has progressively gotten more and more rundown and and disgusting. Everything about the room was wrong! I see I will say that it was generally clean but there were absolutely no amenities to this room. We had one light bulb in the room and the air conditioning could only be turned on at the wall at 16 degrees Celsius or nothing. The pillow, the sheets, and blanket were all disgusting and absolutely need to be replaced. I unfortunately will not ever stay here again they have let this property get to the point that it is not even suitable for a quick stay in ochi. The exterior of the property is completely deteriorated to the point of wondering if it is even a viable establishment. They advertise a pool yet for the last 3 years it has never been open. This is such a prime location and used to be a very nice place. No matter how cheap it is it is somewhere that I don't believe anyone would feel comfortable staying in.

The view from the room and the large balcony was worth spending time at the property. I did not like that the pool was closed during my visit.

It's a perfect place for photos and has great views but they take forever to check u in, beds are old and uncomfortable ac either doesn't work or doesn't turn up or down, shower also doesn't work but probably was the room i got,paid for breakfast when i was booking but they wanted me to pay again, pool isn't available and the beach is locked off , it's an amazing spot but all they need to do is fix and clean up the beach and that would help, with all that said the view was amazing give them that

This is just my honest review with no bad intentions. The pros of this hotel: location is great right in the center of town by the ocean but far away enough from the noise of the busy streets. The staff is the some of nicest and most respectful people I’ve ever met. The view from the room with the balcony is awesome, AC and WiFi worked good. But that’s as far as it goes. The cons: the hotel is very and I mean very dated. This hotel isn’t more than a 1-2 night stop over. I wouldn’t recommend for a long vacation stay. In my honest opinion I think the rooms shouldn’t cost more than $45-50 a night. The furniture is very old, the rooms need to be renovated. Pool was closed off and looked like it hasn’t been functional in years. This hotel needs a serious investor with serious money to renovate this property. If this property gets all modern updates it would be a gold mine. It would take a few hundred thousands or even millions to bring this hotel up to modern standards. I really wish the property the best in the future but I don’t know how much longer they can hold on at this rate.

There wasn’t any good WiFi, and I had to rely on my data the entire which still gave me problems because there was not much service in that area.

The hotel is run down, the furniture is very old, the bed and pillows were uncomfortable and the floors are dirty. The air conditioner was horrible it barely worked, as I would get ready I was sweating before I can leave the room. There is no fridge or microwave nor safe in the room. If I left the room I would take the few valuable items with me. The only positive was that the room is large and had a balcony which had an amazing view of the water and the employees were nice and helpful. I traveled solo and I would not feel comfortable walking in the area in the evening. The hotel is not accessible, my room on the second floor and the only way to get there are the stairs. I had to lug my suitcase up and down the stairs. I knew the pool was not functioning but it looks like it hasn’t worked for awhile. They also advertise a beach, not really, it’s a patch of sand and broken gravel which contained old and broken lounge chairs. The place needs to be shut down and renovated. Avoid the food, had lunch and it was horrible along with the presentation. Spend a few extra bucks and stay elsewhere.

Floor was horrible and need wash cloth and when you go to front desk they are telling me there a book so they don’t have any more , after a long day in the road and go back to get a shower to relax . Need renovation bad.

I went to this hotel 3 years ago and was amazing, but this time was horrible. The sheets smelt nasty, washroom was clogging. The staff was impolite and not nice, coffee was cold and beyond nasty. Large rooms with two double beds, desk, chairs, dresser, and cupboards with large balconies, and close to the ocean. Rooms have AC, WiFi and TVs. It only fails to get 5 stars due lack of refinements (e.g. kettle and fridge) but the rooms and price and proximity to shops, restaurants, and Jamaican fast food restaurants (e.g. Island Grill and Mothers) mean a well deserved 4-star rating by me.

The air conditioning did not work, and the matter was not addressed throughout the entire stay. The doors could not be opened to let in fresh air, given that the air conditioner was not working and the television also did not work.

The staffs were friendly the property is very close to the town center of Ocho Rios so it was walking distant to most of the places we wanted to go and things we wanted to do like shopping and dining. The rooms are spacious and clean with two beds to each room . The property is right next to the sea with a balcony for each rooms so you can sit on the balcony and look over into the sea . However there were two small inconveniences that can be fix easily. The Tvs are very small and the property need a stronger wifi system for the rooms. The wifi is stronger in the lobby area though. Overall i would give this property a 8 of 10.

This is a great place in a great location. They need to do some upgrades to the beds. The mattresses are way to old and soft.

I like this property it has so much potential, but it needs a little work. I think the owners should allow a lease of the room where someone can invest in fixing up the rooms and rent it for the market price and pay the owner what the normally would charge. The rooms are so spacious and roomy and the view is a amazing! I would suggest not taking the breakfast plan because it's only coffee tea and breads are provided. The staff was the most amazing collection of talent and I was blown away by the service by Clive, Ivan (the terror), all the security guards (over the top helpful with local places and how to get there safely). Everyone genuinely loves working there. I will returning in three weeks!

This hotel was an absolute nightmare! 😡 I can't even begin to describe the level of incompetence and rudeness I encountered. They completely messed up my reservation and had the audacity to question my payment, even after I showed them the confirmation and explained about my discount I got from Expedia because of my points. The staff was beyond unprofessional, making snide remarks and treating me with utter disrespect. And let's not even get started on the room. It was a disaster zone with no lights in the bedroom area, bugs on the floor, and nail clippings on the table. It was absolutely disgusting! And to top it all off, they didn't even provide an AC remote, so there was no way to adjust the AC. I wouldn't wish this hotel on my worst enemy. Stay far, far away! 🚫🏨

The thing I appreciated most was the courtesy of the staff. From the front desk to the housekeepers. Only complaint is breakfast could be a 'solid', for the lack of a better word. Instead of just coffee and toast. Eggs fried or boiled. Or calaloo , saltfish. Nothing expensive. Anyway I enjoyed my stay and have shared my experience with others.

This place is a joke. Am a travel Agent and i ready the review but still was gonna stay for my review. I book via expedia but there phone are not working and up on arrival no one was at the front desk and when someone come the only thing he would say they are booked out and I have go somewhere. Like i had money put down to just keep booking all over. However expedia great customer service assist me And i am staying at HIBISCUS LODGE.

First of all we pulled up to a back street alley where the “hotel” is located surrounded by what appeared to be gangs which made everybody on high alert and uncomfortable with our surroundings. We Walked into the lobby reception to be met with another 30 gang members which made us feel paranoid and fearful for our lives. We were escorted to our ground floor rooms which was something out of the 1950’s. Our room came with 1 mirror, 1 plug, 1 dressing table, a broken back door which did not lock properly, loose taps, a bathroom sink put together by silicone, a rusty bath which I wouldn’t bath a dog in, towels were too small for adults, air con was good, tv worked but there was only 1 light which was a lamp to light the whole room which had very poor electricity. The only way you could connect to Wi-Fi was to surround your room front door as it was very poor and low speed. No swimming pool!! Please be aware that the room comes with continental breakfast however when we got Offered breakfast the next morning we had 4 toasted hardo bread with a lump of butter, lump of jam on the same plate to share between 7 people. 4 black coffees with a tiny plastic cup of milk to share. We are very upset to have to be so negative but this was a horrendous stay and a living nightmare, we couldn’t sleep because we were on high alert with the surroundings. STAY AWAY!! EXPEDIA PLEASE SEND A REP TO VIEW THIS PROPERTY AS PEOPLES LIVES ARE AT RISK. THIS IS NOT SILVER SANDS BUT HELL SANDS.

Hidden location with a private beach in the middle of downtown Ocho Rios

I unfortunately booked a stay at this hotel because of convenience of proximity to some tour sites. Upon arrival to the hotel i looked around to confirm if this was actually the place as it is in an alley littered with garbage and graffiti. The area was unwelcoming and felt unsafe. I decided not to stay and booked another place nearby. The building needs serious renovation.

My stay was good. I had fun my only issue is that the hotel does not offer a Continental breakfast. I had to pay for coffee and toast. Its my first time staying at a hotel that doesn't have any coffee maker in the room.

The property is poorly maintained. I only stayed because it was one night and I would lose my money if I cancelled as I paid online prior to arriving. Continental breakfast meant toast and jam with tea and bread, what a rip off. Would not recommend, a huge waste of money.

My husband and I visited Silver Seas in celebration of our 2 year relationship anniversary and half year wedding anniversary. The view of the sea was beautiful. All we needed was a restful stay, and that is what we got. This hotel is excellent for resting and if you just love to reflect on nature. The property is indeed old, but it provided what we needed. The outside table on the porch was not clean, but the room is spacious. It is a small hotel, so don't expect entertainment apart from nature. The chef cooks well as well.

On the bright side, Silver Seas must have been the "go to" place in its hay day. The staff was pleasant, rooms were tidy, the bed was comfortable and the water pressure was superb with plenty of hot water, an anomaly for smaller hotels and resorts in Jamaica. Additionally, it is likely one of the few hotels remaining where every room has a great view of the Caribbean. However, unless some serious refurbishment takes place and if left in its current state it will crumble completely. The photos of the hotel are misleading particularly the one showing a well-maintained pool and surrounding garden. The reality is an abandoned space in total rot. While there has been some effort to patch a number of cosmetic issues in the room, the workmanship is shoddy. The included continental breakfast featured coffee/tea, toast and jam and fruit. However, for my entire stay there was no fruit available, though local markets seemed t have a supply. Notwithstanding, I was not on a vacation and only required a room, in which case, Silver Seas met the requirement.

Kind of blown there was no Wi-Fi even though it says it’s included. Food was very limited and took for ever when ordered, mainly breakfast

Continental breakfast was two slices of bread, butter and coffee. This was horrible. There is no beach, pool or anything to entertain oneself. There is no internet access for guess, the television does not work. The bed springs were all damaged so you felt like you were sleeping on a deflated bed. The plumbing in the bathroom was also faulty. I am so sad and hurt that i trusted Expedia and they recommended this property to me. I am losing my confidence in them.
