Pretty clean. Nice ocean view. Helpful facilities such as a laundromat and gym.

Book any where else. Rude staff. Elevators are unsafe. Check in and check out is super inconvenient. Cash only parking on site that is not guaranteed that there will be any because it’s also public parking.

Didn't use the laundry setup. And I expected to use the hot tub but when I arrived and checked in was informed that the hot tub and pool was shut down for maintenance. I feel scammed. I had booked my reservations on the 29th and had been calling multiple times spoke to several different personnel at the hotel about different concerns before I even got there, one of them was my need for the jacuzzi and nobody informed me that it wasn't in service. I arrived late at night after my shift. I live on Oahu and I work. I took a bus and transferred three times was very tired. The personnel was very rude and impatient with me. I tried asking for a refund I also asked for a comp of some sort the man was very rude and distasteful I will never come back again or recommend this hotel to anyone. I am extremely dissatisfied and as a Kamaaina, I especially expected to be treated better. He gave me two complimentary drinks, after I asked for something and I told him I don't even drink what else you got. He said we got a gym. I just wanted to rest in a hot bath couldn't do that either cuz it's stand-up showers. I really looked forward to the jacuzzi. It was terrible I asked for a complimentary breakfast or something. He just got ruder and ruder. I'm still really just saddened by the experience. I feel ripped off. It's because from the time that I booked the reservation to when I actually came I had been in communication with them and they could have told me. Oh their parking garage smells urin

Room AC so old, could not see any of the control functions. No water in Hotel when we arrived. Pool closed due to unsafe conditions of hotel around pool. Homeless all over the neighborhood around hotel. Parking fee very high and not disclosed on website.

The check-in impression should have been the first clue when no one was there at 4:30 pm, then the gentleman was rude and seemingly annoyed by having to perform a check-in service. We got up to the room and it looks NOTHING like the photos online other than the white linen on the bed. It was DIRTY in the room. Everything costs extra- like using the gym, putting your luggage in the storage room the day of check out if you need it secured for an hour or two. The only time I encountered pleasant staff was when my hotel key card was not working and I had to come all the way back down from the 24th floor, wait in line and then have it turned back on, for the hot elevator ride back up to the stinky industrial carpet palace. I wish I had looked at other review sites on this place first. Oh and if you need parking the gentleman at the desk has nothing to do with that and will tell you very quickly...and it is $50/day, cash only. Enjoy.

This hotel is an appointment building and air BNB. Long waits for elevator going high up on the floors with many people. Spraying for infestation but didn’t know what it was infested with. No parking by hotel. $50 cash at parking garage or take chances on the street with homeless people. Resort fees but unable to tell me what I got for the charge. Not a resort by any means. Very small rooms, 1 free -lug in the room. Toilet was infront of the entry to the shower so difficult to enter. Rooms not well maintained; Light kept turning on and off by itself and couldn’t really control air conditioner.

I saw cockroaches in the room. Front desk receptionist some had limited English skills. Elevator went out and everyone had to walk flights of stairs to room in the dark. I had 20 flights to walk up

The bed was very hard (no padding in the top) and the amenities were minimal. One hand towel and no hangers in the armoire. The AC was difficult to regulate. On the other hand, the Kona coffee packages were delicious. Be advised, the parking is NOT part of the hotel, costs $50 per day and must be paid in cash before parking.

Would not stay here again. Firstly, a main reason we booked here was to have use of the pool when not at the beach. We arrived to find that the pool was closed for maintenance and not opening for a month. If this was scheduled - why were we not informed. Secondly, we had to use 1 set of towels for the beach and then again at home despite not having use of the pool. On check out we were told we could not use towels for the day even though we were checking into another room in the same hotel that night. The lady at reception was patronising and rude at times. Would not recommend staying here especially if you are not willing to put up with an old and poorly managed facility. Air con unit is less than 1m away from the head of the bed. Bed was made very badly and despite being comfortable - had a plastic protective layer which crinkles when you move at night. Massive disappointment

Not a great option. Furniture was old and falling apart, the bathroom was always flooding due to the shower, I had my own little band of roaches each evening. The building had a terrible smell and the carpeting and flooring was dirtier than the streets.

The room was filthy. The floors were so nasty and dirty when we checked in as if they never swept or mopped it. The walls were disgusting and dirty. The vent fan in the restroom was so dusty and literally coming out the ceiling. The chairs with the table looked like they came out a dumpster (not even joking at all, I wish I was.) the fact that I had to go down daily to ask for towels and to ask for the room to be cleaned was INSANE to me. The towels were literally all stained black and just so disgusting. Beds were so hard. Trust me and pay the few extra hundred for a better hotel. This felt more like a Motel. Me and my son got a rash after sleeping here. If I was able to get refunded and stay somewhere else I would have.

Roaches

Ahola this hotel is so bad .. We check in and staff is nice ,but the place is horrible!!! We had to move hotels because there was blood in my pillow little splashes. A dirty sock on the floor. Bed was over all was terrible the furniture was old beat up seats where torn the mirror was so dirty not even center . Everything is very old and smells weird dirty. We got so ichy the more we try to like it and thought we where exaggerating . But we just couldn’t take it . The manager try tell me it’s Expedia fault they’ve cat fish me in there photos !! My response was I’ve honestly been booking them for year never had experience like this before. I also paid 300$ parking (It’s disgusting guys where peeing on the parking garage you can imagen how that smell !

finding the entrance to even get to the hotel was not easy. Once I parked, there are no signs as to where to find the check in desk so I just got on the elevator and went to LL and L, eventually finding the check-in. Once getting to the room is it very old and outdated, floors need to be mopped very badly! The dresser drawers just fall out when you open them, so not even usable. There is nasty stuff all over the bathroom mirror. If you pick up a glass off the dresser, it sticks and then a ring where it has been sitting, so gross. My last straw was an actual cockroach crawling on the dresser where the microwave is, this was not the large water bug ones; an actual roach. I can not have my kids staying in a place that has roaches and risk the roaches getting into my belongings and potentially taking them back to infest my home. I ended up checking out within 12 hrs of arrival. I reached out to the management and I still haven’t received a response.

The rooms were very dirty and never received housekeeping service with a 5 night stay. Also the towels were very dirty and stained as well as the blankets.

Floors were not clean and noise from adjoining room.

Staff at check-in were just lovely! Style of the hotel was nice. However, for such a location the room was in poor condition. Mold on ceiling in bathroom, fan in bathroom start to fall out / down, one of the windows kept opening a bit from the wind and wouldn’t close properly and room needed a deep clean.

Hotel is older, furniture is not very up to date. There were some cockroaches in our room however Iv come learn it’s common here. The staff were nice but stingy with towels or anything extra you may need. The room was spacious enough but the bed was pretty uncomfortable. Seems like they spent more money on the floors than anything else. The pros are the distance to the beach, restaurants and the pool area. If all you want is a place to sleep and shower this one is a step up from a motel.

Location is great. Staffs are great. The amenities are very old. They should replace room amenities. It was annoying to see that there were not much plug points to use.

Pretty uncomfortable beds and pillows were not great at all. Felt like a pull out bed. Obviously didn’t spent too much time in the hotel, so just a place to sleep at the end of the day.

I didn’t like the noisy window a/c unit and I missed a clothing locker

Bed very uncomfortable & slides when getting into bed. Bulb fixture broken & hanging by electrical wire on nite stand unsafe to use, a/c unit super loud, guest making loud noises till 2am.

It's not a five star hotel. Some areas seem to have been updated (like the Internet access and Roku TV) but other areas are suffering from deferred maintenance (the knob on our bathroom door was so loose I was afraid it was going to come off).

Room seemed too be somewhat renovated. Mini fridge was hella old. Room decor and bedding needs to be updated / new as well. Property was nice and quite and enjoyed the pool

The beds were awful. The first time I’ve staid at a hotel that had lumpy uncomfortable mattresses. We could actually see the lumps and unevenness of the mattresses. The T.V. Did not work. The bathroom was nice though.

It would be helpful to know their front desk closes at 1230am. And check ins end at midnight. We just barely made it. Front desk lady was very rude and annoyed when we showed up at 1230am.

It started with the parking. The parking attendant was inconvenienced with doing her job, she had to finish her conversation with whoever she was talking to on the phone using her noise canceling headphones and when she finally decided to look at us she rolled her eyes and just straight up asked for money without even asking what we were paying for. Then yelled at us because she couldn’t hear us through the headphones she was wearing. As soon as we checked in the front desk the front desk wasn’t as friendly. Whilst telling us there “policies” of the property she just rammed through it like she was angry that we were there. We get to our room and all we can hear is our neighbor blasting the tv…the walls are paper thin. We could hear every burp, and even every fart from next door. I DO NOT recommend this place. Spend the extra hundred bucks to go somewhere else.

It was very wonderful from the start. Had to extend my stay a few times and all assistants were kind and very helpful. Super friendly and nice sized rooms. Would definitely recommend

The bakery in the lobby as some of the most delicious treats, and the woman who works there is super nice! Vicky and the staff at the lobby check in desk went above and beyond to help me with my delayed check in (due to a canceled flight) and also helped me find a hat that I left at the check in counter by mistake. All in all, I had a wonderful stay and will be back. Thank you all so much for making my stay memorable.

It was a wonderful stay. Front desk were awesome. We definitely recommend and stay when travel plans permit. Thank you to the staff of Monarch hotel.

The restaurant area was very loud even with only 4-5 people there. We left and had dinner at another place. There is no real lobby. We’ll never stay here again and would discourage others from staying here.

The location cannot be beat. The staff was friendly and helpful and addressed any questions we had. Will definitely stay there the next time we are in town.

The hotel is in a quieter Waikiki neighborhood, there are two convenience stores and the beach and mall are three blocks.

The hotel is close to the beach , a mall, Walmart, target, and a grocery store are all in 4 blocks. Don't need a car for those things.

It was on the outskirts of Waikiki, meaning we weren’t in the hustle and bustle. It was comfortable for a staycation and restful getaway. The hotel wasn’t an upgraded hotel but affordable.

It was close enough to places we wanted to go.

The Waikiki Monarch is very walkable, Target , Walmart, 7-11, beach near-by in 1- 3 blocks. The neighborhood is mostly quiet. Waikiki is always dirty, all of it.

Had a great time in Hawaii and at this hotel. Forsure will book again here. Walkable distance to downtown and a lot of dinning and bar options

I like staying here. 3 out of 4 trips I’ve stayed here. I enjoy the food trucks across the street from the hotel.

Troy was nice. Restaurants were pretty close but hotel restaurant was closed without notice. I had planned on getting something to take up to my room. Had to order delivery that added $10 in fees to similar dish. Hotel is rundown and gross, bugs, dresser blocking door, shower curtain was too small and water got everywhere, bed had stains, tiny towels, dirty blanket, and rhe list goes on. Just no.
