Fuego del Sol Beachfront Hotel

Second year staying here. Love the staff. Feel safe allowing kids (age 8&11) walk around unsupervised. Free breakfast is delicious! Beach out front is a treat and the pool is great to cool off. Close by to other options to eat and central location to excursions. Thanks Fuego del Sol!!

We liked our room, it was spacious, had a fridge and comfy beds. The pool was clean amd relaxing with warm water. Not crowded. The beach is beautiful but waves were really strong...definitely not for swimming with kids. Food at the restaurant was delicious. Breakfast was not the buffet but overall filling. Birds as anywhere in Costa Rica were entertaining... especially a flock of macaws in a jungle area across the small street. I would return here again.

The one thing that could have improved our stay was a small refrigerator or ice machine (the restaurant didn't have ice to spare, but there is a store nearby that had a ice). The hotel has a perfect size to provide a private feeling. Relaxing on the beach and at the pool was wonderful. We stayed just 2 nights and were unlucky, having big waves in the sea so that swimming in the sea was not possible. But the pool was so warm an nice that this was not a big disadvantage. The breakfast was served as a choice of different possibilities and perfectly prepared. The staff was very friendly.

Wow, we unexpectedly had a 2 bedroom with full kitchen, and 2 tables with seating for 4. All rooms have views and the hotel is on the sand. It has a nice pool and good restaurant.

This was a great hotel. It was clean and roomy. The pool was gorgeous. The restaurant was fast and served great food and drinks. It is right on the beach. We enjoyed walking the beach in the mornings. We also saw several tropical birds, including the scarlet macaw in the trees across the street. There were at least 4 macaws in the trees. It was amazing! It’s also a very short drive to Carara National Park (20-30 minutes), where we hiked and saw monkeys, a poison dark frog, scarlet macaws, agoutis, and several other birds and iguanas. Also, the manager was very helpful, friendly, and attentive.

The only good thing about this place is that room 201 has the upper balcony that overlooks the ocean. Now the Cons: our balcony sliding door didn't lock. So essentially anyone from the beach could walk up and climb up on our deck and open the sliding glass door. We didn't feel secure and I didn't trust my belongings there while I was away. I told the front desk guy about it and he came to my room with the maintenance guy and they couldn't fix it. He said we'll get you a stick. It took over an hour and a text to him asking if he was going to bring down a stick to secure the door. Finally the maintenance guy came and gave my husband a broom handle. The damn stick was too long to wedge in door jam! My husband texted the front desk guy and said the stick is too long and doesn't work. He read the message and chose to ignore us the rest of the night. So I ended up taking a wooden chair and wedging it in the door jam to secure it while we slept. We didn't feel safe so we left the next day. The hotel manager was there and asked us why. We told him our reasons and he never offered to refund us our money for the second night we paid for. I was just done with them. The room itself was fairly clean. Bare bones minimum. The shower drain was gross with a busted metal cover. The curtain on the broken sliding back door had black mold growing on it. The food is not good. The service at the restaurant was good. They were nice. Front desk guy was super rude.

Excelente ubicacion y hotel pero muy poco personal para manejar la limpieza en las habitaciones.

Solo en la hab 208 la cama se quebró. Y la nueva habitación que nos dieron tenía fuerte olor a humedad (110) por lo demás todo genial y el personal muy amable. Rica comida y excelentes tragos

Very new construccion. Very clean and supee close to the ocean......

The room was clean, very standard for this beautiful country! We got upgraded in rooms to a poolside room and we loved the view/ view of the beach as well! Jason at the front desk was very nice and informed us of all details of the hotel! We did come during the rainy season so it rained quite a bit but it was super pretty and breakfast was yummy! Everything was great!

We can’t say enough good things about this place. It was newly renovated, we were in a room directly on the beach with a patio over looking the beach and the sea. It was a dream location. The beach and sea are right there for swimming & sun bathing. The staff are really friendly with a shoutout going to Eric, Alan & Angela who patiently helped us navigate SIM cards, places to visit and pretty much any requests. We really appreciated the great conversations too. One thing to note is there is no fridge or coffee maker in the rooms but we were told these will be comming. Highly recommend and take no notice of the bad reviews many months ago as the hotel is under new ownership and has been renovated. Thankfully we read the review that mentioned this or we would have missed out on a real gem !! We will be back !

A lovely first night in Costa Rica. The hotel is literally on the beach front. The sound of the waves crashing was nice and it was like I was in my own personal sleep sounds app. I stayed in the best room - 201. Upstairs, facing the beach. 2 balconies. Room is bare, but has coffee machine and a bed, and that’s all I needed! Dinner was nice, as was the breakfast. The beach is ace. I stayed here just for the black sand.

Great place to stay. Night guard and manager are really nice and accommodating. Breakfast is included and was delicious. The waitress were rude to me and my friends. No smiles and didn’t seem happy to serve us. Everyone else was super nice. The hotel is not surf friendly! No board racks and no coffee available earlier than 7. I like how they have a huge warning sign for the dangerous conditions this beach brings but the sign totally blocks the view of the main peak. They charged us for coffee because it was 10 mins. before 7. Whatever….. The pool is perfect and would be a great place to bring kids. Overall I would stay again because it was clean and safe.

Nunca logre llegar al hotel, mi vehiculo se daño durante el viaje quedandome en carretera 27 todo el dia hasta que llegara el servicio de grua. Mientras esperaba le solicite al hotel un cambio de reservacion o reembolso el cual se negaron a ayudar segun ellos el reembolso lo solicite después de lo requerido y el cambió de fechas no me ofrecieron ninguno lo cual causo una perdida total del direno, pesimo servicio al cliente y una malas vacaciones con mi pareja embarazada de mi hijita. Mis vacaciones se vieron arruinadas por completo y una perdida completa de tiempo y dinero. El hoten bien pudo cambiar mis fechas a unas mas accesibles para yo poder disfrutar del hotel de igual forma pero se negaron. Pesimo servicio que iba a ser undel.tiempo

Small little hotel where everyone works hard to make things right Great food, great staff, nice beach to walk on and enjoy sunsets. Conveniently located near Jaco beach, but away from all the hustle and bustle. 100% Thumbs up!

Lots of activities to be found when in the Jaco Walk Center. Not too far of a drive, only 5 minutes. But the people, the scenery, and the stay was more than what I was expecting. I definitely recommend this Hotel!
