Extended Stay America Suites - Salt Lake City - Sugar House

Extremely helpful staff and efficient check in. The rooms are basic but clean and have everything I need. So many fabulous restaurants are nearby!! (Mint Tapas & Sushi, Blaclsmith Ice Cream are incredible.) There’s parking but it’s often blocked by the lines of cars waiting for Chick-fil-A – that can be a real nuisance at peak eating times.

Great laundry facility.

The traffic flow with Chick-filet needs to be fixed. Waiting for 45 min for the drive-in customers to move through the line because they block the entrance to the hotel is a problem.

Hotel was under room renovations so not a lot of hotel parking due to dumpsters. The street in front was also under construction so had to risk your life/car to shoot the gap from on coming traffic or drive past and make you turn. Shower had no hot water at 10am. Recliner was old and felt like a cat had dug its claws into both arms. It shares parking lot with a chic-fil-a. Since not a lot of hotel parking had to park and battle with the drive through lane of the restaurant.

Room was clean. Property somewhat old and tired, could use updating. Staff was pleasant. WORST part (and not their fault) is neighboring Chick-Fil-a drive-thru line loops through parking lot, blocking parked cars from getting out of their spaces.

The customer service was great. The room was functional. The area around the hotel was busy and so it was a bit loud but the laundry facilities were great and easy to use.

Facility should have been shutdown during renovation. Sharing parking with Chic fil a far from ideal. Negotiating in and out thru their wait line is difficult at times.

The fast-food restaurant in the parking lot made reaching the facility very difficult.

I like how it has external entrances- not inside hallways. The location is great and has nice walking area(s) and pet accommodation with provided bags and trash cans. The current construction to the road out front makes getting in and out challenging which isn’t their fault. Biggest thing was some necessary items for extended stays even when requested weren’t available : dish soap, paper towels etc. secondly breakfast is only oatmeal packets, pre packaged muffins and granola bars. There is laundry which is nice and it felt safe and quiet.

Run-down Motel. Upon arrival the front desk personnel was not that friendly. Got to our room, after returning from dinner, and found the the bed had not been cleaned, sheets had been left from the guest before us, wrinkled and sings of "sperm" were very visible, I wish I could share pictures, there were "bugs" inside the room. The guest before us had broke some of the sheet-rock-wall. Got a second room and after taking a shower water would not "drain". Common areas floors and elevator very "dirty" low-cleanness. Low-Maintenance Motel. This looks like and feels like a 2-star motel.

The room was ok the beds had dirty sheet mainly hair. And the bath mst towel looked loike it had feces on it. The staff was friendly.

Room had dead bugs, cheese puff, wasn’t swept. Middle blanket had lots of hairs that were not mine! Breakfast was very minimal, packaged muffins, breakfast bars, oatmeal packets. Upgraded me to a “newly renovated room with a king size bed” room wasn’t even close to newly renovated and it was a queen. Very noisy from traffic and people yelling. Not a quiet place to stay. Get what you paid for is an understatement.

The room was disgusting. Sticky floors throughout, thick layers of dust; soap scum in shower/tub, old soap bars smashed into the soap dish in shower, dried blood on a picture frame in the room, be over stained beyond belief; bed was loud, creaky, and uncomfortable, also was a full size that was marketed as a queen. The towels had brown stains, and there was copious amounts of human hair in the bathroom including but not limited to pubic hairs. The bathroom sink would not drain.

The building is dirty, it smells bad from the moment you enter the elevator and the room has a bad smell, the tub is very ugly and dirty, the carpet is dirty and worn. The place is very unsafe.

There was bugs in the bed. Absolutely disgusting!

The room was clean everywhere except the floors were filthy. After our kids walked from the bed to the bathroom, we noticed the bottom of their feet were black. Our socks were black by the end of our stay. Everything else was great. We had a great check in, friendly staff. Please clean the floors better!

Dirty floors...made feet blackened with dirt in just minutes. Breakfast was an embarrassment. Might as well have been no breakfast at all.

Check-in staff were friendly and got me checked in quickly. When we checked into the room, the room was in order, but it appears the cleaning staff did the minimum. There was dirt and dead bugs in several places on the floor, hair in the shower and bathroom sink, and the counters did not appear to have been wiped down. I walked barefooted across the floor, and when I stepped into the shower, my feet left black feet prints, so it seems the hardwood floors had not been cleaned recently. I spilled some water in the floor and used a white towel to clean it up. The white towel was dark from dirt when I finished. If it were not so late in the evening, we would have requested a new room. We were both so tired, we just went to sleep.

The floor was filthy. It literally turned our feet black within a few minutes. The bathroom counter had not been washed off and had dried clumps of stuff on it. The breakfast was a prepackaged muffin, nutri- grain bar and packaged oatmeal that I guess you could make in a cup.

No shower curtain. No appliances what so ever.

Room 137 very noisy with morning staff allowing doors to slam shut when staff entered or exited hotel laundry. Started each morning at about 4 to 5 am.

We brought a dog and only stayed for one night, so perhaps that’s why we were assigned a first floor room with a door directly to the outside like a motel. I found the room rather dark and depressing. I wouldn’t have wanted to stay longer.

They have renovated most of the hotel which has made a large difference from the last time we stayed there

Over all rooms are decently updated. Spacious rooms. Nice staff! However, I booked my room a week prior to stay - upon check in we were told our room was not available yet. They informed us the room still needed cleaning - due to being short staffed. It was slightly inconvenient.

Big room! Comfortable beds. But no luggage racks for those of us staying one night and living out of our suitcases.

The room was nice shower valve was hard to get hot water to come out felt striped. The room had no noise barrier could hear the upstairs neighbor all night as well as the outside noise.

Overall, great for the $$$. However, I wish the kitchenette just had a set of pots, pans, dishes, silverware, cooking utensils vs. Having to ask for it. I checked in very late & was super hungry & planning on cooking something quick preferrably that tastes much better sauteed & not in microwave. I was very grateful for a 12:00 checkout since I didn't get in until 12:30am

Room was fine but the walls are thin. Also I would not call the breakfast offerings a complimentary breakfast. Our tv did not work and had to wait at the front desk for 15 minutes or so with other hotel guest to just check in. The sign at the front said call 0000 if no one was at the front but there was no phone available to use. Also we checked around 6:30pm. Not so late that the night staff might be sleeping. I would not recommend this hotel. We come to salt lake 4 times per year for doctor appointments for our son. This was disappointing.

The office closes at 10:00 pm which was not mentioned on the site information, so when we got there after 11 and there was no one in the office with no contact information or phone available, it made it difficult to get our room. When we did get someone to come to the office he was less than happy and after giving us the room key did say where the room was. We asked him where it was after starting to look and he said it was just down the center hall around the corner. It was actually all the way down to the end of the building which would have been much easier to get to once parking down there. The room was clean but evidence lots of very poor unprofessional maintenance in the bathroom.

Absolutely horrible. Save yourself the disgust and book the Marriott SpringHill Suites around the block. There was a homeless man harassing my daughter and I and the staff didn’t do anything to make us more comfortable. The room had a very distinct cigarette stench, even though the property states it is smoke free. The second room we were assigned had hair all over the pillows and smelled like urine. We left around 11pm and the office was closed so don’t expect housekeeping or any help during the night. Super comforting that there were two Police cars out front when we left and stayed at the Marriott SpringHill Suites.

Very poor checkin experience.

I booked the hotel for my 18 year old daughter to attend orientation for the U because it said minimum check in age was 18. She flew from Portland by herself to an unfamiliar city because she is a brave new adult. They would not let her check in because they “changed their policy” and you must be 21 to check in. She is alone and scared to death and they would not budge. The girl at the desk didn’t want to call the general manager because she doesn’t want to be disturbed after hours and she didn’t want to “lose her job”. I had to call my niece who knew someone in Salt Lake City to kindly rescue the poor girl. She had never met this person before that day. I have chest pain because of the anxiety it caused. This is NOT Okay leaving a young adult on the streets of SLC when I paid for the room fair and square. I lost 10 years off my life with this trauma. FIX THIS please!

I had an issue with the original room which was handled immediately by the staff. The staff were excellent and helpful.

This was a reasonably nice property with a great night staff, but surprising technical issues with checking in in the middle of the night and loitering questionable people on site made this one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. -driving from SF, we called twice to confirm we could check in late. We were told about "night audit" but were not informed that we could not check during it. We arrived at 12:55 am but were not allowed to check in until 2:15. -once in the room, my daughter found the tub unclean, and when one of afformentioned characters knocked on the door, we discovered the phone not connected and the wall socket was destroyed. -breakfast is barely more than coffee and cheap prepackaged muffins. -because our car was full, we opted to park it at neighboring hotel with better security.

I was traveling very late in the evening. I was so tired from driving in winter road conditions. When i arrived and tried to check-in to my room I wasxturned away by a rude front desk associate. The reason was that they do not accept debit cards. My card has been good enough for every other hotel chain I have stayed with. It is from one of the major financial institutions. No its 2qm and im looking for another hotel. Never again...

I reserved 2 rooms for our trip passing through to move our daughter from California to ND. When we arrived, we were given our keys. One room that was assigned to us was already occupied and we walked in on a couple at 11:00 PM. We were mortified! The other room had a very broken pullout sleeper sofa, that was also extremely dirty. When i told the clerk, he made a comment about them having a new shipment coming in but it being backed up due to some corporate bureaucracy. We had to be reassigned for both rooms. While the hotel staff was kind and accommodating with reassigning the rooms, it was disappointing to have had this experience in the first place. One room was upgraded, which was great, but the other reassigned room’s sleeper sofa’s mattress had food and lots of debris on it. I had to double layer the sheets to feel comfortable about my teen son sleeping on it, and even with the double layers he sneezed and coughed with allergies all night and all day the next day. Would not recommend staying here. Lots of homeless people in parking lot and one who was screaming in the stairwell next to our room and asking my husband for money when he went to check to see if she was okay. This was scary because our belongings were in our moving trailer out in the lot. The place appears safe and clean on the outside, but once night comes, it’s not. This was just an overall rough experience.

We arrived and were not allowed to check in or cancel our booking. There was nowhere printed on any site that they only accepted credit card and they would not take debit or cash. But after not letting us cancel our stay they happily charged me for a no show fee.

Location was right on the creek. Love the sound of the water from my room door. Accommodating are simple. But had everything I needed at a great price.

This part of SLC no longer feels safe to walk around.

Intense ongoing construction, though thar is what happens in a growing city. Walkable and restaurants and shopping within blocks.

The bathroom was dirty, the shower was peeling, there was a lack of bathroom supplies such as lotion and conditioner, the floors were not swept, there was pee in front of the toilet, and the breakfast was a tiny muffin or granola bar. There was a homeless encampment behind the building, and it felt very unsafe.

The hotel is a bit worn, but was clean. The location is excellent. Backs up to a creek and there are many restaurant options within a 5 minute walk. Would stay again.

A decent hotel is a location close to many things in the Sugar House area. Nothing too fancy but a good spot at a good price. Our room was small but had been updated. All we needed we spent our time out doing things. Restaurants and shopping in walking distance.

Hotel was nice but road construction made getting in and out of the hotel very difficult. Also google maps tries to steer you into a parking structure. Easy access to a nice park.

The entry and outside was a little off putting however I found the room was clean and a great size. The front desk gentleman was very nice and even called to check if we got in ok or needed anything. The parking lot is tight and there is a Chick-fil-A in parking lot so it was backed up when we pulled in. There is helpful signage to direct you which way to go. Parking was pretty easy for me.

Entering/exiting property is difficult. Our room was on the south side which was great by a wooded walkway - very quiet. The gentleman checking us in was very kind & professional.

Comfortable beds, clean and close to lots of shopping and restaurants. Close to walking trails and to the park.

Loved our corner room location off the back of the hotel. River walk trail, and view of town, nicely lit up at night. Polite, professional staff, quick check in, small grab and go breakfast. Spacious room and excellent price! Would stay again.

Kichen is convenient. Breakfast need improvement

Was decently clean and in a safe location. They were doing construction outside out room and was a bit noisy and the workers stared. There is a cute and friendly little black cat that lives nearby in the bushes and will come out to you if you call to it. This upped the stars from me. The staff are polite but not professional. The desk was often empty when we got there. The breakfast is kind of lame. Thanks for the pre-packaged muffin and instant coffee.

We purposely selected an extended stay because we appreciate a kitchenette and not having to eat out. We got into town late and checked in. A flyer on the counter indicated that a coffee pot was not stock in our room. I asked the attendant for a coffee pot and after asking twice he dug one out of a lower cabinet behind the reservation desk. I then asked where the nearest ice machine was in relation to our room. He told me there was a gas station about eight blocks down. I initially thought he was joking. We got to our room and realized that though we had a coffee machine, we had no coffee. I attempted to call the front desk, but the phone was either unplugged or had another issue, as it did not work. I used my cell to call the front desk and the attendant brought coffee to our room. The next morning, we realized there was nothing to drink the coffee out of. There were no dishes or silverware in the room. Although the room was clean the bed was comfortable, the point of it being an extended stay was completely mute. The continental breakfast was just as lousy. It consisted of Nutrigrain bars and packaged Hostess pastries. There was no fruit or juice. We will never stay at an Extended Stay America Suite every again.

The bed was comfortable, the 2 front desk agents provided good service. The walls seemed "thin" and could hear the next room and outside as the room doors are outside. The breakfast was minimal. There was a dark hair on the inside shower curtain. The fixtures were older.
