Motel 6-Schiller Park, IL - Chicago O'Hare

Checking in was a pain in the butt the building is crumbling around them, and the men are working on it while people are staying there the organizational skills with the management gotta be terrible, but the rooms are not ready when they should be

Had to leave my electric wheelchair on my truck in the rain because no elevator to bring indoors, won’t stay there again

No tv No working telephone No washing machines that are in service with card reader. No help from motel 6 customer service either- complain recorded and 7-10 day for any resolution!

Toilet overflowed, couldn’t call office for assistance because no working phone in room, No working TV Unable to use washer & dryer because card reader remained inoperable entire 4day stay off could care less - finally sent work order middle of day 3rd day, still not working day 4 - told at desk no idea or timeframe it’ll just be when 3rd party can fix! Their reply to everything is…”sorry, you can go somewhere else if you want” - unbelievably rude and indifferent. Not even a mattress cover on my bed, just an old thin sheet. NEVER again!!!

Room smelled like smoke. Exterior of hotel under construction with smears of (dried fortunately) cement and stucco everywhere, two massive foul and full dumpsters in the parking lot. Was an alarming pipe labeled “supplementary drain” (with levers to activate on it) running above the first floor. Refrigerator very uneven, rocked when touched. Only “amenity” was two bars of soap. Bed was good though.

They were trying to schedule window installation during our stay, which would make us a construction site. And it's right near the airport with planes flying over all the time. But it's a motel 6 and they left the light on. So it was affordable... I was disappointed that hotels.com rated it at 7. So if we're doing out of 10 I would rate it a four. Cheap, and I got what I paid for. But I did have to assert myself that they were not going to be putting windows while we were in the room.

The property was dirty and the bathroom was gross with mold in the grout and a big spiderweb.

Terrible experience. No tv period. Dirty air conditioning vents. Dirty floor, sheets, shower, toilet, table. You get what you pay for. I wouldn't even take a hooker there.

We got the hotel at 9 pm fall sleep at 3:00 am we got wake up because a lot of rash so we turn on the light what we found were a bunch of bed bugs so I went to the front desk she goes like she was giving us another room and then she goes like I can't refund you at this time because I m not the manager anyway they never did the refund

Very quiet place if you need to just do a sleep over night stay. Even with the planes fly passed, it was still very comfy for me. 5/5 for quiet/comfy. Rating this 2 out of 10 for cleanliness. Seems like no one cleaned this place but swap out bed sheets. Overall I wouldn’t stay here again unless it was an emergency. I’ve stayed at many places and if you get the itc, yep this is it.

Left because there was a cacoraoch in my bed. I was gonna stay another night but i saw it crawling in my bed after I got up for the day.

The safety lock of the door was broken off. Oh and the first room I was given the door wouldn't operate so I couldn't even get into the room. The smell of urine was prominent. The mini fridge was very broken and didn't even work although plugged in. Something was wrong w the A/C, you couldn't read what temperature you were setting it at so it wasn't easy to get it to a comfortable temperature. The stairs of the outside entrance areas were crumbling as well as some of the walkways. The staff was the best thing the property had to offer.

Stayed here for a convention. There was black mold growing in the bathroom and it smelled so bad we couldn't sleep until we had air fresheners hung up everywhere, and even then it was gross. I don't care what is going on; even if it was a dollar a night black mold is an unacceptable safety hazard, but $205 per night? We felt like we had no other option with the convention going on, which is why we didn't demand a refund and leave on day 1, but this has to be criminal in some way. The bathroom had an overpowering smell like pungent rotting garbage and the bedroom smelled like unwashed gym socks but somehow more intensely than actual gym socks. One of us has a physical disability that causes intense pain when standing or walking and he chose to stay out all day doing nothing instead of resting at the hotel because of the mold and the smell. I almost never leave bad reviews or seek compensation but this was another level.

The place and room is very dirty. They don’t change the sheets. There’s hair in bathroom and curtains are falling apart. The photos they put here are deceiving. They aren’t actually what it looks.

Multiple rooms smelled so much like cat urine that they were almost unusable.

The room is in bad shape--the light switch didn't turn on the light. The plug near the bed was too loose, wouldn't hold my phone charger. Bathroom plug didn't work too well either. Only one plug in the entire room functioned well. Clearly the room had clearly flooded at some point and the pressed-wood furniture had been compromised; now the sawdust is disintegrating onto the floor. The mattress is hard. But it's cheap, which was my main requirement. It was clean enough, the bed was not great but OK, the shower worked well enough to get clean. The TV worked. I wouldn't recommend it unless a cheap basic hotel with ZERO frills is all you want. The whole experience was a bit rough.

The stay was good. My only complaint was the tv was not working in my room or the other available rooms.

Locks on the room did not work one night they wouldn't switch us rooms until the next afternoon when we had plans so we had to stay in the messed up room the remainder of are trip and had to have the front office open are door every time we returned

I made a huge mistake. I confused this Motel 6 with another one a few miles away. I had no idea this one was so close to the airport. It is directly under a landing flight path and that runway is 24-7. The planes are VERY loud. I could barely sleep. I cheaped out and I paid the price. However there were other things I could not have anticipated. There was construction going on in about quarter of the motel, including one morning where they were working on outside walls in the unit right next to mine. The first room they gave me had a continuously running toilet (I checked the tank and it was running but empty). They moved me to another room *after* sending a maintenance guy who said this was a known issue with this room. So why was it even available? The water pressure in the shower was so minimal I felt like I could never get clean. It was a struggle to reach the level of a drip. I don't ask much of motels but this one was in bad shape. If I could have afforded to take the loss and go to another place I totally would have done that.

It was terrible. The air conditioner didn’t work properly and no tv. The staff was instructed not to advise guests that the tvs don’t work so they can get your money and have a no refund policy. I checked out a day earlier.

The staff was rude and unprofessional when I asked for a refund due to Expedia lying about the so called premium room I booked. No microwave but they charged extra for it. NONE of the rooms have microwaves. The motel knows this is happening and they told me since I booked thru Expedia they’d have to refund and Expedia says motel have to refund. I called motel 6 three days after visit to ask about refund again and I asked the person what their name was. She said she said it when she answered phone. I asked what it was because I didn’t catch it . She refused to tell me, I called back a short while later and she didn’t use her name and when I called her out on it she said said “I could see it was your number calling so I didn’t say my name”. How rude, unprofessional and juvenile is that? Avoid this motel at all costs. You’ll pay for amenities you don’t receive and nobody will refund you and at least one staff member who I am working on identifying will treat you like s**t. It’s not worth saving a few dollars. Go to Super 8 they are cheap too and much better than that crappy motel, and don’t use Expedia! They falsely advertise and admit it yet only offer you key points which expire in a few months so I won’t be able to use them. I am working with the BBB to get a refund still.

This hotel has the worst customer service in the world. On June 11th I went to the front desk around 9 AM or maybe 9.30 and the young lady that was in charge couldn't care less. How can you have people so incompetent? If you are in this industry you need to have employees that care about people.

The room was comfortable and clean and the hotel is well located with easy access to O’Hare intl. airport.However the customer service was poor! Rude staff. It looked as they were having a bad day! Yeah… for me a smile makes the whole difference. Thanks.

Honestly, is it the cleanest? Not 100%! But I went to Chicago for a concert on a TIGHT budget and it was really good if you are doing the same. We had a problem with our key and the front desk clerk had no problem helping and even called to check in. Dennys is also in walking distance, like they share the same parking lot, which absolutely hit after the concert. If you’re like me and heavily weight your opinion off of reviews then I highly recommend it if you are on a budget and/or staying for a short period of time.

I want to give an excellent shout out to the staff for helping an old lady who was scammed and was in a situation she didn't need to be in. They are all very understanding and very kind.

Great customer service

Stayed by the airport. The first room smelled like cats but Kayla at the front desk changed my room and the 2nd room was great. Kayla even brought me Tylenol because I was in pain after a hard day traveling. Also, Adam from Expedia was amazing. He helped fix my reservation so I was able to check in after hours due to flight delays etc. If I was able to get that same room i’d stay again :)

I saw the reviews before making this booking and thought - it can't be that bad. It is that bad. Very run down facilities. My room was super dirty (floors, hair, surfaces not cleaned) and the manager on duty was extremely unhelpful. I suspect she is quite jaded in her role. No where to store luggage, no cart to carry luggage made for a poor experience. Only pluses - bed was comfy, close to airport.

It's relatively cheap. It's close to the train station. And near restaurants bars and brewery

Walking distance of a Denny's among other places.The outside of the facility can be a bit grungy, but you are staying in Chicago, so its not so bad.

Cheap stay that's close to the airport and blue line. While the outside of the building is in need of some updates the rooms were clean and shower was hot. They only supply a bar of soap so make sure to bring shampoo, no blow dryer either but the TV works and has a decent amount of channels.

Staff was excellent and got me into my room Swifty after a long travel. It's in a great location with late night options, public transit and more. No nonsense bare bones rooms for a good shower and rest.

Room is good, everything you need, hot water and heater were good, shell gas station right in front if you need anything, and dennys right behind it. 2 things to let you know before you stay. 1. Some parts smells like weed, or you'll see people smoking in the hotel hallways, they have construction going on on the side of the hotel so it can get noisy. 2. To get to the train station you either walk 1 hour or get a uber (5-7$) everyday you plan on going to downtown, or there's a few bus stops, but they pass not too often. 1 hour away by train to downtown. Overall is a good hotel, and the cheapest and nicest thing you could find in Chicago, it's worth it if you don't care being on the train for 1 hour, because everything closer to downtown you're looking at 350-1000 dollars a night.

Pretty much what you’d expect for a motel 6. I was disappointed in the overflowing trash cans outside, trash in the parking lot and lackluster staff. My room was missing a smoke detector. It was pulled out of the base unit. I reported it twice and nobody fixed it. I reported it again at checkout and apparently nobody had told maintenance? Concerning. It’s a no frills motel. Noisy. You’re in the flight path of OHare-not the hotel’s fault, but I just wore earbuds to bed. The room was pretty clean. No blow dryer in the room. Bar soap but no shampoo, so bring your own. If you just need a place to sleep, it’s adequate. It was nice to have a Dennys and a couple other fast food places nearby for a quick bite.

Super close to a Dennys and multiple gas stations which makes quick meals and essentials easy to get! Walkable distance to the convention centre as well, perfect for MFF :3

Decent property decently clean the area is pretty sketchy wouldn't walk further than the Denny's next door

I stayed one night in this motel. For short stay, it is OK. Service is down in many aspects. They need more staffs and more logistics. No breakfast.
