Cantley House Hotel - Wokingham

We had a lovely stay last week, it is a lovely hotel and we loved our suite. Breakfast was delicious! Only a couple of things would have improved the stay: As it was a suite I’d expect gowns and slippers I phoned up for an early check in months before and when I rang up to check the week before it wasn’t on the booking. They added it but when we arrived there was a standard earlier check in on weekdays so it wasn’t even needed so why didn’t either of the receptionists say this when I called??? On both calls I mentioned our wedding, would have been nice to have a bottle of wine or something in the room to celebrate.

Lovely hotel on the outside and lots of potential but rooms in need of some upkeep. Booked for 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs for a special occasion and expected some luxury for it. The room was quite basic, no pictures cushions, blankets etc. Clean white linen but the bedding and pillow underneath wete badly stained. The shower was grotty and needed a refurb, bath wouldn't drain (we didn't use it) and towel rail was covered with months of dust, grime, gunk and fingerprints. The fan in the bathroom was coated in thick grime and dust also. The kids pull out beds were saggy and uncomfortable. Only 2 cups, glasses and biscuits were, provided despite paying for 4 occupancy. For £25 per dog, we expected at least a water bowl but nothing was provided at all, so we had to do a run to Pets at Home. That said, the door onto the lawn was nice (aside from the festial going on opposite), and the evening meal delicious (though we paid seperately for that). The breakfast was nice (though we weren't asked how we wanted our eggs so they all came out fried, which we couldn't eat). There was a good choice of options though and cereals, pastries, fruit and toast etc and food was of good quality and restaurant was nice and had good service. Whilst I'd recommend the restaurant, all in all, the hotel provided an underwhelming stay for the money we paid. We certainly expected more and won't be visiting again.

Stayed here for a wedding. I stayed in a superior room with garden access which was a lovely touch to have a few chairs and a table to sit at. Room was spacious and clean. Only downside there is no air-con and rooms get very warm. There is a fan in the room but at 32c it doesn’t do it justice. Breakfast was nice and staff were friendly and helpful.

It is cheap, pretty clean and there is free parking.

We stayed at Cantley house for a wedding, beautiful setting, food was amazing, all the staff very friendly and helpful. The building is old but needs a little revamp in the main house, looks very tired. We had issues with the cleanliness in our room but this was dealt with in a very professional manner by the manager Tom. Breakfast in the stables was perfect!
