We had a lovely time. The decor is very nice. Our bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean. It was quiet. The staff were friendly. The bar was Buzzy but not overcrowded. My one gripe and my husband‘s was that we decided to pay for breakfast in the morning. We had scrambled eggs on sourdough toast. It was £9.50 when it turned up. It was one slice of toast and a not overly generous portion of eggs which was somewhat disappointing we would’ve expected at least two slices of toast with eggs on both for almost £10! other than that we really enjoyed it and we would be back.

Lovely old hotel, and very comfortable - but note this does mean it doesn't have a lift, so you may want to request a room on the first floor if stairs are a difficulty. Staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. Great location in the centre of Lewes (though remember Lewes is built on a hill, and it's at the top of the hill).

This is a beautifully renovated old hotel that lacks an elevator and AC due to being an historically listed site. The staff is friendly and carried up my bag to the "snug." The small room is beautiful, as is the bathroom. I think a very small chair could be added in the dainty space and would be helpful. As I was there in a heat wave, it was uncomfortably warm. The smalI fan helped a bit after I figured out exactly how to place it next to the window frame. Lovely bedding. I suggested that in a heat wave there should be an option for a top sheet as a bed covering rather than the duvet, which was unbearable. The hotel restaurants are good and include alternative options such as possibilities for GF and DF when requested However they are not open around the 11AM checkout time, when some travelers might wish to have brunch or an early lunch. There is a good cafe nearby that has many alternative offerings, called, I think, "Depot." It's right near the train station. It's clean and spacious. I chose this hotel for it's proximity - 900 ft. - to the train station from which the Glyndebourne Festival operates coaches for attendees. It was a lovely experience.

Excellent stay. I have stayed numerous times before prior to it being sold. I was however very disappointed that the car park is no longer.

As this stay was purchased via Tesco Clubcard Rewards I was expecting the usual quality lottery, however I was pleasantly surprised. The accommodation was comfortable, clean and well located. It’s right on top of the castle which unfortunately for us was shut, so we passed our time in the local pubs and restaurants, of which there are plenty. I would definitely stay here again, but as others have suggested, have a plan about where to park

The White Hart has been beautifully refurbished with great attention to detail. Room was lovely, as was the bathroom, and the use of space in a very old building. Very comfortable. Would happily stay again.

It was amazing. We paid for a cosy room, and it certainly was. The sloping beamed ceiling required you to maintain your concentration when manoevering around the room. Nice touches were the edible treats to welcome you.

I booked this as a surprise for my partners birthday. The service was fantastic. The deco delightful , the little details added to room very kind , with a fabulous, comfy bed. We had a sweet little view of roof tops and the downs ( which was a special place for my partner ) . We absolutely loved this place and the staff . Well done team Lewes @ the white hart . Xx

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this historic inn. It's been superbly and sympathetically renovated and is the perfect balance of new and old. Staff were excellent, friendly and professional. Basically faultless!

A lovely hotel beautiful decor and a lovely happy ambiance around the bar and dining areas. Very close to restaurants shops and easy access to getting about the area.

Lovely old hotel, and very comfortable - but note this does mean it doesn't have a lift, so you may want to request a room on the first floor if stairs are a difficulty. Staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. Great location in the centre of Lewes (though remember Lewes is built on a hill, and it's at the top of the hill).

This is a beautifully renovated old hotel that lacks an elevator and AC due to being an historically listed site. The staff is friendly and carried up my bag to the "snug." The small room is beautiful, as is the bathroom. I think a very small chair could be added in the dainty space and would be helpful. As I was there in a heat wave, it was uncomfortably warm. The smalI fan helped a bit after I figured out exactly how to place it next to the window frame. Lovely bedding. I suggested that in a heat wave there should be an option for a top sheet as a bed covering rather than the duvet, which was unbearable. The hotel restaurants are good and include alternative options such as possibilities for GF and DF when requested However they are not open around the 11AM checkout time, when some travelers might wish to have brunch or an early lunch. There is a good cafe nearby that has many alternative offerings, called, I think, "Depot." It's right near the train station. It's clean and spacious. I chose this hotel for it's proximity - 900 ft. - to the train station from which the Glyndebourne Festival operates coaches for attendees. It was a lovely experience.

As this stay was purchased via Tesco Clubcard Rewards I was expecting the usual quality lottery, however I was pleasantly surprised. The accommodation was comfortable, clean and well located. It’s right on top of the castle which unfortunately for us was shut, so we passed our time in the local pubs and restaurants, of which there are plenty. I would definitely stay here again, but as others have suggested, have a plan about where to park

Lovely historic hotel. Very comfortable room and bed and would happily stay again. Shower could have been more powerful and staff at breakfast could be more welcoming but otherwise all good.

We had a lovely time. The decor is very nice. Our bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean. It was quiet. The staff were friendly. The bar was Buzzy but not overcrowded. My one gripe and my husband‘s was that we decided to pay for breakfast in the morning. We had scrambled eggs on sourdough toast. It was £9.50 when it turned up. It was one slice of toast and a not overly generous portion of eggs which was somewhat disappointing we would’ve expected at least two slices of toast with eggs on both for almost £10! other than that we really enjoyed it and we would be back.

The White Hart is a lovely hotel that has been seamlessly renovated. It feels old and cosy, yet modern at the same time..everything is very high quality. The beds are comfortable ...we stayed in a pet free room and the dining area is separated into dog and non dog, which we appreciated. Breakfast choices were top class, though on both mornings we felt the poached eggs arrived chilled rather than warm, which took the edge off things. Dinner the first night was fantastic. On the second we both had rump steak. This looked as if it was cooked just right but was sadly rather tougher than we have experienced elsewhere. Perhaps it had not been allowed to rest or the butcher had provided a cut below normal standard. We will definitely return

We had a lovely stay here, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, great service. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the bar, dining and outside terrace were very stylish.

Litt treg innskjekk pga høyt tempo i restauranten, men utmerket service derfra og til utsjekk. Rene og velholdte rom. God frokost. Hotellet ligger i sentrum av Lewes. Lewes i seg selv er helt nydelig, og når hotellet leverer som de gjør, ble opplevelsen helt fortreffelig.

A historic, beautiful ole inn in the middle of a beautiful, old, historic town. Main street is a bit busy, but not bad at all in early September. Once inside, not a single street sound. Lots of pubs to choose from close by.

Very old property with upgrades so you have to expect some issues. - small rooms narrow corridors no lift small shower. Bed was great undulating floors made you feel drunk but I don’t drink so…. Worst problem was lack of parking. And it’s a long way away

Customer service was a real issue at this hotel. There was no-one on Reception on my arrival, just a sign to say they were in the dining area. I went to the dining area and asked someone there if I could have help with my bags. There is no lift and there were 3 flights of stairs to my room. No-one came. Eventually, someone working in the empty bar area offered to help put my bags somewhere safe while I found somewhere to park. He was unable to advise me where the best car park was. When I'd found a car park and returned to the hotel, someone magically turned up at Reception and "booked me in." She offered to carry some bags for me - especially as I also had my little terrier dog with me. On my departure, there was no-one on Reception (which seemed to be the usual state of affairs) so I just walked out! It was very warm in the room so I asked a member of staff if there was a fan available. She said there should be one available, but I heard nothing and no fan appeared. No-one said they hoped I enjoyed my stay, and no-one asked me if everything was satisfactory, and no-one asked me if I'd enjoyed my stay!
