Excellent hotel which I used to use very frequently a decade or so ago when traveling on business. It was always excellent but since my last visit it has had a major extension and upgrade

The property itself was charming, there were some areas like our room that needed attention - redecorating, ceiling repairs and the plugs in the bathroom were set too low so sink and bath wouldn't drain properly. Noise - there was a wedding on and the noise was bad from music and people outside arguing and ready to start a fight. I requested to have the music turned down as the bass was way too heavy and we couldn't sleep. This didn't happen so I asked reception again and was told that they couldn't accommodate this as it was a wedding. I advised of the arguing and swearing outside our window and we were offered to be moved to a quieter room and the reception man came into our room (room 3) so he could hear the noise for himself as that room was supposed to be a quiet room when weddings were on. I think if there is a wedding on, anyone booking should be made aware of that as we would not have booked to stay here if we had known there was a wedding on. We ended up eating in the hotel as we were concerned we wouldn't get a parking space if we went out as the place was rammed with cars. So we ended up spending £90 for a meal and 2 drinks instead of £30 elsewhere. We ordered ribeye steak and were served sirloin - we weren't advised that's just what came so that was a little disappointing and both were overdone too. We didn't want to complain as overall the lady serving us was really nice and the food was quite tasty. Overall, from our perspective a disappointing stay.

Lovely building in beautiful surroundings, room was very nice and spotless, breakfast was pretty good but the prices at the bar left a bad taste in my mouth. Intended to have a few evening drinks but left after seeing the price of the first one.

Beautiful countryside location just 20 minutes from the centre of Sheffield. Lovely historic mansion house, tastefully decorated with many original features maintained. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Lovely hotel, the gardens are beautiful. Room was great. This was our second visit, we came back because the food was amazing on our first trip but we were disappointed with our evening meals this time.

Absolutely stunning building with a cozy bar and restaurant. The room was spacious and very quiet despite facing the car park. The shower was a bit temperamental and wouldn't heat up probably but other than that we had a wonderful stay.

It was quite unpleasant having a room so close to the public toilets. The smell from the toilet blocks used in the urinals is still lingering in my nostrils. This was in an Executive Double Room in the Parker Wing.

The hotel was a little tired with old carpets The bathroom sink and bath would not drain. The woman on reprption did not offer thanks for staying or bid farewell on departure needs a short course in customer service

Nice hotel with great cooked breakfast. The room is okay but quite old fashion. Bed was very creaky and soft. Shower is rather weak. No bottled water in room anymore. I stayed in the new annexe. An expensive stay for what you get.

We have just returned from a 1 night stay at this hotel and would like to say how much we enjoyed the beautiful setting, complete with peacocks, the history and ambience of the building and the friendly ,welcoming staff. The room we had was faultless, impeccably clean, lots of facilities and a modern spacious bathroom. Breakfast in the morning was superb.There was a help yourself impressive buffet and a hot menu you could choose from. The American Pancakes were to die for -delicious. We would highly recommend a visit here and will certainly treat ourselves to a longer stay in the future when we venture North!

What beautiful place to stay. With lovely weather we had a really nice stay. I love being surrounded by greenery, so relaxing. The only downside for me, was the fact our room 'Executive double' was right by the main entrance to the rooms on the ground floor, so you didn't feel very private. I opened the curtains and there is the delivery man in his lorry. We would stay here again, but would not want to stay in that room again.

Room very cold on arrival but the lady at reception turned up the great whilst having dinner. A lovely hotel but unfortunately I had a terrible sleep with people walking through the corridor at 2am and 3am - I could hear the floor board creaking. At 4am I called reception as I was disturbed by what sounded like hoovering and banging as if a hoover was hitting the floorboards. On check out I was not offered an apology or asked how my stay was. I would not go back I don’t think. Pillows also not comfortable. Staff in restaurants very accommodating

The building is lovely and the bedroom was fine although the tv had issues. On the downside it has pretensions. I was told that I needed to be down at 7 for dinner at 7:30, I was eventually served dinner at 8:15. The food was poor and the main bore little resemblance to its description on the menu. Breakfast was overcooked and was prepared, not what I expect for £16:50. The final insult was a £9:49 service charge which when questioned was for service in the restaurant in addition to the £45 charge for two poor courses. I won’t be back

There was a heavy snow fall over much of England whilst we were there which meant that we were snowed in and staff snowed out. Many staff walked in or abandoned cars to get to work and then worked first to cook breakfast (the chef was snowed in) and then to dig us out with the help of spades and the local farmer with a digger. We felt very well looked after and the staff did an amazing job in difficult circumstances.Great Teamwork! Thank you.

Room very cold on arrival but the lady at reception turned up the great whilst having dinner. A lovely hotel but unfortunately I had a terrible sleep with people walking through the corridor at 2am and 3am - I could hear the floor board creaking. At 4am I called reception as I was disturbed by what sounded like hoovering and banging as if a hoover was hitting the floorboards. On check out I was not offered an apology or asked how my stay was. I would not go back I don’t think. Pillows also not comfortable. Staff in restaurants very accommodating

What beautiful place to stay. With lovely weather we had a really nice stay. I love being surrounded by greenery, so relaxing. The only downside for me, was the fact our room 'Executive double' was right by the main entrance to the rooms on the ground floor, so you didn't feel very private. I opened the curtains and there is the delivery man in his lorry. We would stay here again, but would not want to stay in that room again.

We have just returned from a 1 night stay at this hotel and would like to say how much we enjoyed the beautiful setting, complete with peacocks, the history and ambience of the building and the friendly ,welcoming staff. The room we had was faultless, impeccably clean, lots of facilities and a modern spacious bathroom. Breakfast in the morning was superb.There was a help yourself impressive buffet and a hot menu you could choose from. The American Pancakes were to die for -delicious. We would highly recommend a visit here and will certainly treat ourselves to a longer stay in the future when we venture North!

The building is lovely and the bedroom was fine although the tv had issues. On the downside it has pretensions. I was told that I needed to be down at 7 for dinner at 7:30, I was eventually served dinner at 8:15. The food was poor and the main bore little resemblance to its description on the menu. Breakfast was overcooked and was prepared, not what I expect for £16:50. The final insult was a £9:49 service charge which when questioned was for service in the restaurant in addition to the £45 charge for two poor courses. I won’t be back

Firstly, I want to say how beautiful this historic house is – absolutely stunning. We booked an Executive Room, stayed for two nights as my son was getting married here. We arrived around 10 minutes before check-in, so we spent some time exploring the hotel and its beautiful gardens before taking a seat at the bar to admire the building. Once checked in, we went to our room, we were a little disappointed with our Executive Room. We had paid extra, but it wasn't noticeably different from the standard room booked by one of our friends. The only real difference appeared to be the Juliet balcony doors. Positives: Absolutely stunning historic building. Beautiful grounds with a picturesque setting. A lovely outdoor location for wedding ceremonies. Negatives: There are no outdoor bins anywhere on the grounds, only in the hotel rooms. As a result, cigarette butts and other litter were left on the ground in several areas. Providing outdoor bins would be a simple improvement that would help keep the grounds tidy. The carpets throughout the hotel are looking quite worn and would benefit from being replaced. Parts of the gardens are looking overgrown and would benefit from some care and attention. A little overpriced. .. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay, and the hotel provided a beautiful setting for my son's wedding. While there are a few areas that could be improved, they are relatively simple changes that would make a noticeable difference to the overall guest experience.
