All the rooms named after birds . Makes a change from numbers. They also changed rooms for me to accommodate my disabled wife. Staff were very helpful and very polite. Nothing was too much trouble.

2 night stay, arriving on a Sunday early evening, check in was great, lovely staff, advised us that there were free canapés for guests at 6.45, we had a wonderful meal in the restaurant, there was a choice of roast or other items off the menu. Our room was very comfortable and clean, breakfast in the morning had a good choice of cold buffet style items and also you could order hot food from the breakfast menu. There was a friendly bar area for the evenings and a nice outside seating area too. All in all a lovely stay.

The hotel was very comfortable and relaxing. We had a lovely big room with a gorgeous shower. But the stand out element was the food. The evening meal was stunning and delicious and the cooked breakfast was outstanding. An extra plus is that they serve up free canapés every afternoon. They were perfect and really gave us a taster of what the evening meal would be like. And all of the staff were very welcoming. Cannot recommend this place enough. Will definitely stay there again.

Our stay was a last minute decision and we were luckily to get a room for too nights. We also had our little dog with us. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfasts was lovey and had a good choice. They even gave our dog a sausage, which he enjoyed. The room was small but clean and tidy. The only draw back is that the room was on the top floor, with a lot of stairs to climb. It seemed extra long in the night when the god needed to go to the toilet. But we managed and it was fine.

A great find!! Lovely pub / hotel /restaurant in a beautiful spot. The room was gorgeous with a roll top bath and very comfy bed. The hotel was totally dog friendly- they are allowed everywhere and even get a sausage for breakfast! We ate in the restaurant twice and loved it both times - good portions and great specials. The bar is comfortable with a wide range of cask ales and a great selection of wine. Finally the staff! Everyone was very friendly, helpful and welcoming, they worked long shifts but never dropped their standards. Brilliant! There are a few pubs in the group but would have to do exceptionally well to match The Crown. Thank you.

Warm welcome, good check in experience, and the room was fine. Rather dark and on the small side but clean and comfortable. The carpets have seen better days. Fairly comfortable bed, but a major problem was that there was no hot water for the beautiful tub. I had spent the whole day travelling and working and a bath would have been great but the hot tap even alone never got more than tepid. I did raise this with the hotel by email and the next morning in person and other than an apology nothing, and no reply to my email. I think it incredibly poor that for such a price the hot water was not working, and I was very happy not to stay there for the 2nd night as my plans changed. (No offer of a refund or compensation of course). Will not stay there again because of this. Dinner at the bar was nice. Excellent wine list.

Room very clean. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water and biscuits available. Bed very comfortable. Clean soft towels. Bathroom fine. Would suggest a handle on the wall by the high roll top bath, but we’re a couple of ‘oldies’!! Soaps, shampoos etc were a lovely touch. Enjoyed the breakfast with a good choice of menu. Staff very helpful for our stay. We would go again and would recommend this as an excellent place to stay.

Firstly, the good: staff were all very pleasant and helpful, food in the restaurant, dinner and breakfast were all good, although the dinner was a little on the expensive side, the location was good, there was plenty of parking, the common areas of the hotel were all friendly and well furnished. Then the not so good: the room we had, was a basic room and was advertised as such but really for anyone over 5 feet, you're constantly banging your head on the ceiling as the room was in the roof attic space. The tiny shower cubicle with a fixed shower head which was lower than my head was impossible to use. The room also didn’t really smell too clean, fortunately there was a sky light in the sloping roof to enable us to get some fresh air. Finally, and again this was advertised as a pet friendly hotel. I personally do not think pets ever belong in areas serving food. So in conclusion, if you love dogs and are not very tall this is the hotel for you. Otherwise I’d find somewhere else to stay.

We booked a Good double room with king bed for 2 nights. The room we were allocated was on the ground floor right on the pavement and road which was noisy. The window had no net curtains just a blinds so offered very little privacy unless you closed the blind which would make the room very dark. The bathroom did not have frosted glass and was on a walkway. We were moved to another room away from the road which was only available for 1 night and are awaiting a refund for a second night.

Nice cosy room, excellent shower,comfy bed, nice bed linen, great hospitality tray. Coat hangers much too high in wardrobe, couldn't even take them off the rail!! Window blind needs to be darker, lets daylight in too early!!

Decent room in building in pub car park. Nicely decorated, good amenities. Bed/mattress were cheap but didn’t affect my sleep. No sockets adjacent to the bed which is always annoying. My first floor room only had a Velux window so no view outside. The bathroom was very small but well equipped with toiletries and soft towels. Included breakfast was very good. All in all, I was happy with this stay and felt it was good value.

Comfortable bed in a spacious room and nice to have a bath. Bit noisy as road quite busy. Dinner & Breakfast both excellent. Stayed in Bittern which had a wet room - difficult to drain shower water quickly!

Great little place for a local stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Restaurant is nice with attentive service. Breakfast was fantastic with continental as well as hot food. Dog friendly throughout and so welcoming. Great if you’re a dog person. Good proximity to both Southwold and Aldeburgh. The room does get hot so need to keep windows open. Hope it doesn’t rain else you’d have to close the roof window for fresh air.

Lovely property well converted from old cottages to modern rooms. Food lovely, staff very friendly. Only concern for us was that the room was so warm at night despite the use of a fan we struggled to get a full nights sleep. If you are a light sleeper I would suggest a room away from the road as passing traffic can be heard.

Warm welcome, good check in experience, and the room was fine. Rather dark and on the small side but clean and comfortable. The carpets have seen better days. Fairly comfortable bed, but a major problem was that there was no hot water for the beautiful tub. I had spent the whole day travelling and working and a bath would have been great but the hot tap even alone never got more than tepid. I did raise this with the hotel by email and the next morning in person and other than an apology nothing, and no reply to my email. I think it incredibly poor that for such a price the hot water was not working, and I was very happy not to stay there for the 2nd night as my plans changed. (No offer of a refund or compensation of course). Will not stay there again because of this. Dinner at the bar was nice. Excellent wine list.

Great breakfast. One of the best oat milk porridge I’ve ever had. Breakfast is of quality restaurant level. The bedroom was furnished with everything you could want. Bespoke tea and coffee supplies, comfortable bed with choice of hard/soft pillows. Beautiful location.

The hotel was in an ideal location, room was ideal for a one night stay. Staff were friendly and efficient, only had breakfast which was plentiful with several options of choice. Used the Tesco clubcard which reduced the cost by £50.

The hotel was very comfortable and relaxing. We had a lovely big room with a gorgeous shower. But the stand out element was the food. The evening meal was stunning and delicious and the cooked breakfast was outstanding. An extra plus is that they serve up free canapés every afternoon. They were perfect and really gave us a taster of what the evening meal would be like. And all of the staff were very welcoming. Cannot recommend this place enough. Will definitely stay there again.

A great find!! Lovely pub / hotel /restaurant in a beautiful spot. The room was gorgeous with a roll top bath and very comfy bed. The hotel was totally dog friendly- they are allowed everywhere and even get a sausage for breakfast! We ate in the restaurant twice and loved it both times - good portions and great specials. The bar is comfortable with a wide range of cask ales and a great selection of wine. Finally the staff! Everyone was very friendly, helpful and welcoming, they worked long shifts but never dropped their standards. Brilliant! There are a few pubs in the group but would have to do exceptionally well to match The Crown. Thank you.

The room was on the second floor up two flights of very steep, narrow stairs. Not ideal when carrying a puppy. The breakfast on the first day was ok (Poor quality bacon though), on the second day, despite offering Sourdough toast on the menu 10 times, they had none as ‘we don’t get a delivery on Sundays’. The alternative was cardboard, cheap toast. If only the management cared, perhaps they could order more on a Saturday, or get in the car to a local bakery? On the final morning there was no hot water for a bath. They also forgot to put my dogs food in the ftidge meaning we had to throw it away. Shoddy all round, I’d avoid if I were you

In my experience, 9 times out of 10 hotels have a card machine available for this, and this hotel did have card readers in the bar and restaurant. Unfortunately, the member of staff dealing with my check-in made it very clear that my situation was an inconvenience to her. Rather than offering the option of using a card reader, she made a rather snide comment along the lines of, “How am I supposed to take your payment?” She appeared to expect me to physically provide my card so that she could manually enter the card details into her computer. What made this more frustrating was that on a previous occasion, when staying at the hotel with a colleague, the hotel had simply sent my colleague a payment link, which was a quick and straightforward way of resolving the issue. I appreciate that there may be procedures around taking payment, but the way this was handled was unnecessary and left me feeling uncomfortable. There were clearly other options available, whether using a card reader or simply sending a payment link as had been done previously. It’s a shame, as everything else about the hotel was very good. This interaction unfortunately put a dampener on an otherwise positive experience.
