Pretty disappointing overall, whilst the service was excellent from all staff members, the room was " tired", the bath had a large split along the bath panel itself. The adjoining "pub" The Garrison was closed before 21.50 when we returned for a " nightcap". Finally, the breakfast this morning whilst plentiful and set out very nicely on our plates was cold, tepid at best, shame but going downhill.

Historic hotel in need of a refurb. Chalet style rooms. Walk to breakfast was outside into rail, along courtyard and up 2 floors on wooden creaking staircase. No lift. While place feels tired. No brand and overall marketing plan. Randoms pictures and framed butterflies on walls. King size bed room was accessible room with 60s bathroom like a hospital and felt overpriced Nice staff though. Good Yorkshire folk working hard to look after customers.

Staff were very helpful and room comfortable. For me, the over bath shower was a problem as i had real problems, particularly getting out. More walk-in showers might be a good investment!! Parking on site is extremely limited, which could be a serious drawback.

The hotel was great - a good sized room, very good value for money and free parking - but the attached bar was disappointing. We returned from an event at c10:30pm to an empty bar and had to ring the bell for service. The lady took some time to appear and immediately told us that she was about to call time - we were the only people in there! 5 people arrived after us - 2 had to plead to be served, the third was told that it was takeaway only and the last 2 were refused service, despite the fact that 7 of us were still sitting there drinking. We were all told to leave bang on 11pm, despite the hotel website saying that the bar was open until 11 (it wasn’t) and being forewarned that they host events at weekends that could cause noise disturbance until 12:30.

Easy check-in, lots of parking available, good internet speed. Breakfast served from 7am and opened promptly at 7am. Easy check-out. Also a reasonably priced pub too. I will be staying again.

In our party we had three rooms, we all commented how cold the rooms were, heating on but not working. One of our parties room was very dirty, having found sanitary wear under one of the chairs.

This hotel is like staying at your grandmas house. I didn’t like that I couldn’t open the curtains as the bedroom was directly into the courtyard with people walking through. Because it’s so old it felt dirty which may be a little unfair but the bathroom Lino is definitely not clean around the edges. The carpet has interesting stains! It wasn’t for me and I won’t stay here again

Parking was excellent Hotel very run down, breakfast room next morning was still full of confetti and general rubbish on the floors - disgusting. Breakfast was fair. I suppose it’s a 3* hotel so you should expect basic but not bad housekeeping is not acceptable. The location was brilliant and they are certainly missing a trick, a bit of money spent on updating it would increase their revenue. In my opinion.

Room was clean but a tad tired. We did report to reception that there was no heating and told it was because we had checked in earlier than 4pm but still no heating for the duration of our stay. I am assuming this is a known issue as the room had a spare heater to warm the room. We reported on leaving there was still no heating but again nothing was made of it.

Really enjoyed staying at the Garrison. The receptionist gave me a fascinating history of the building and its various uses over the centuries. Cosy little bar, with friendly service. The hotel was comfortable quiet and the breakfast was outstanding. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Didn’t have breakfast. The staff are a brilliant asset for the hotel, nothing was too much for them and they did it with a smile, sometimes in the face of adversity, I can’t praise them highly enough, my only concern is that the hotel is really in need of an upgrade, in particular the door/key system seriously needs looking at.

This was an emergency stop- over which served its purpose. I liked the fact there were real ‘in person’ staff available 24 hours to check me in on v late arrival. Room comfortable and extra blanket appreciated. Having missed dinner ( stranded on train) I was looking forward to breakfast but appreciated the refund as chef unavailable. V good value overall.

Finally made it to the snooker, and booked The Garrison well in advance as it offered free parking and was a handy drive from the East Coast. Short walk to the tram so no issues with getting into and out of town, even late at night. Loved the room and the setting overall, so convenient for shops, food etc. I would say don't bother with breakfast. People were lovely but the choice was limited, coffee machine broken etc - first day was a tiny omlette on a big plate, second day the full Yorkshire saw a plate swimming in lumious yellow oil, just as convenient ot grab a bite nearby (which is a shame as we loved staying here overall - and we will be back but saving £ on breakfast next time).

Finally made it to the snooker, and booked The Garrison well in advance as it offered free parking and was a handy drive from the East Coast. Short walk to the tram so no issues with getting into and out of town, even late at night. Loved the room and the setting overall, so convenient for shops, food etc. I would say don't bother with breakfast. People were lovely but the choice was limited, coffee machine broken etc - first day was a tiny omlette on a big plate, second day the full Yorkshire saw a plate swimming in lumious yellow oil, just as convenient ot grab a bite nearby (which is a shame as we loved staying here overall - and we will be back but saving £ on breakfast next time).

Great hotel. Close to shops and public transport. About half a mile walk to Sheffield Wednesdays stadium. Lovely breakfast and great staff.

A couple of miles out of town but well located. Rooms clean and today, breakfast decent quality however the breakfast room itself feels dated and could do with a modern refresh. There’s a lot of empty space in the dining room which could be lifted with some sofas and a tv perhaps to make it feel more welcoming

The room was nice with a bath and great value for money, the food in the bar was nice and the staff were very good. Reception booking in was also very good. A tram stop is just over the road and a McDonald’s directly outside. Will definitely return the next time we visit Sheffield.

Breakfasts were very poor, on the first day there was no cook and the choice was very limited continental style, on the last day there was a cook but there was only one choice. The strange thing was that outside in front of the door there was a light that was on all the time, all night long. The worst was the shower, it was so leaky that more water poured out of the hose than the shower head.

Cracking hotel but they need to sort out the breakfast arrangements. Went a couple of weeks ago and the coffee machine is still broken and you can wait for up to 45 mins for you food to come to your table

Stayed quite a few times now and always pleasant enough. A special mention for the receptionist, who " allowed" us to book in earlier than normal as we were on a tight schedule. Will only book a room though next time, as breakfast was poor ( temp wise) served on cold plates, and also the heating was only put on in the dining room AFTER we entered, so the room was as cold as the food.

The staffs were super friendly, the breakfast was outstanding. I can tell this hotel has history as so many elderly couples chose there for staying. There is a Morrison just right across the road, and a MacDonald behind the hotel. It perfectly juggle both young and elder generation.

Room a bit smelly with extracting system in the toilet not working. Breakfast awful, I asked for the missing sausage and arrived cold. Just a reminder cooked food must be kept at 65degrees at least, coffe horrible

Lovely staff all very helpful, room was comfortable although needs a little love. One thing to note is the bar and restaurant are now closed in the week so it’s either a walk to the local Wetherspoons which wasn’t great when I tried it( dirty plates and glasses on 75% of tables) or a £10 uber ride into the Centre.

Another lovely stay at the Garrison Hotel. The staff were friendly and our room was clean and welcoming. A nice touch was to have hot chocolate along side the tea and coffee. Breakfast was delicious. The lovely lady who ran the breakfast room was very friendly and welcoming and we didn’t wait long for an impressive cooked breakfast. We won’t hesitate to stay again

Part of the reason I book hotels is so I can get a meal and drink with little fuss. On arrival I was informed it was closed Monday to Thursday. Great location for town centre and hotel architecture is interesting. Staff were all pleasant. Rooms are dated but clean. Room lighting isn't great. Hotel is fine but feels like a Motel more than a hotel.

Loved it, quirky hotel, not what I expected but absolutely loved it. The place is clean and tidy, a little dated in places but I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. There's limited parking, but the bed was really comfy and the surroundings excellent. I'll be back
