turned up after being assured there was disabled access only to find out it was a fire exit that was blocked up with tables and other furniture,the member of staff on didnt even know it was there,had a fight to get refund as could not get in and had to stay at travelodge which was an extra £30 from what we had paid for this room,area around was not looking safe and hard to fathom where parking was.

Small room was clean but needs attention. Kettle has wiring problem . Sink taps drip . Shower doors don't close, no bed side table or shelf for specs or phone. Had a third floor room and lift wasn't working. Nowhere to hang towels Room wasn't made up for second night stay. Breakfast not included. limited parking. Plus point + had a very good Indian Restaurant in Cellar area.

The hotel itself is great, the room was spacious and comfy, the staff on the bar were good. Parking was a pain, don't be fooled by the free parking near by they claim, they have about 15 spaces for residents, after that you're paying for it

Quick check in. Room 202 single occupancy. Decent size bathroom. Then down hill! Instant stench of smoke hits you as you open the door. Unable to open the window due to 3 large screws securing it shut. Proceed to go to the bar to get away from the stench to be told no internet connection to connect to via contactless for a drink. So goes over to the local town centre for a walk out. Gets back to the hotel to find the neighbouring room is having a rave. Music goes on for as long as I could bare, rang down the receptionist was helpful and did give the neighbour a knock. Music eventually turned off. I know this a budget one night stay. But if you have a window that does open. You’d expect to be able to use it. Also for a hotel/pub/resturant there has been a smoking ban for years. How can the domestics not smell it? Probably nose blind to the lack of fresh air coming through the window.

The parking situation is terrible. You have to be out of the car park before 07:00 or you will get a parking fine. The hotel has its own parking places, but only about 10 and these were full with the contractors vans, who are carrying out work on the hotel. I eventually found a pay car park to use.

It was conveniently located in the city centre and the room had everything I needed. It’s an alright hotel but there were some engineering works going on ao the lift was out of order and the room’s sound proofing was not good so you may hear some noises from others. But overall clean and comfy room so good for a short stay.

Run down very poorly run .No stock and didn’t seem to care about it . I stayed for over a week and they still did not have any drink . I had to go elsewhere.Will not be staying again . I can’t believe how bad this place has got

Beautiful historic building but not as clean as it could be. Windows filthy, fan and iron in our room were extremely dirty. Fan blew dust everywhere. Bed was nice and comfy. Carpets need a deep clean. Was a grand hotel in its day and with some work could be a nice place again

It was stiflingly hot on the 3rd floor as the bathroom radiator was on all the time. Luckily there was a fan but did not feel safe to use it all night. There were silver fish in the bathroom and the kettle didn’t work. The bathroom tiles were grubby and the shower didn’t drain so I was standing in an 2 inch pool of water. All in all not somewhere I’d ever choose again .

Second visit. Despite my better judgement, I thought I’d try once more - this time by booking a suite. I opened the door - it was huge! 4m high ceilings. And then the overwhelming smell of sewers. Went to the bathroom, ran the hot water in the sinks bath and shower. Popped the plugs in and hoped it would dissipate. Came back after dinner 2hrs later, the smell was worse. It had filled the whole room. I asked to be moved, and was moved to a standard room. I then asked for the difference to be refunded - I’d paid £90 for the suit, over the £28 for a standard - hoping for a better experience. This proved not possible, and subsequent emails have rendered no response. To add insult to injury - The room had a bin with the previous occupants teabag in and a turd in the loo. I didnt want to leave this account of my stay. If you need to stay in Hartlepool, avoid this place like the plague.

Window sills were filthy and cobwebs hanging from the ceiling above the window. Outside was quite noisy at night. We never got asked if we wanted to pay for breakfast or needed to book a table for a meal. So although its called a Grand Hotel it isnt quite that on the inside.

Nobody was attending the reception desk on our arrival, we had to wait and finally found someone quite nonchalant by the bar. The room had been refurbished recently and presented well, despite the housekeeping not being their principal concern as we found some personal items from the previous occupant. The view from the room was quite concerning and the front of the hotel says it all about the cleanliness and the attention to details. The morning was a lot better with a warm welcoming lady attending the reception desk and looking after the breakfast buffet. This was well presented and of good quality.

N/A - didn’t have a meal here - No one ever serviced the room - The heaters didn’t work - you could turn the knob but the heat never turned on - The water in the shower was tepid, never hot - The TV didn’t have regular service - you had to use apps and I wasn’t logging in with my personal account.

Single room was like a sauna with window full open and fan going. No adjustment on the big radiator in the small room. As window had to be fully open (safety catch had been removed) it was very loud on a Saturday night until early hrs then the street cleaners start. Room grubby but cheap. Also when I returned from work at 2 in morning no one answered the call button so was locked out. Had to bang on the windows hard. On a plus note the breakfast was good

Quite simply the hotel is not finished. Extremely inexperienced staff of which there was one sole person on duty when we tried to get entrance to the hotel in the evening and had to ring the hotel number itself to make contact and to eventually get in.

Amazing! Felt so looked after, Anne and Irene are friendly, considerate and an asset to Best Western. Comfortable stay, there’s still some renovations taking place but didn’t affect the quality of our stay. The staff made us feel very welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, plenty to do, lots of easy to reach places - fabulous

We arrived to find we had been booked into double rooms with a double bed but had requested twin beds as we were a group of six elderly men! The reception staff went out of their way to accommodate us with this request, giving us alternative rooms. W also had a great breakfast here. The reception staff were professional, welcoming and went out of their way to facilitate our needs.

We had a lovely stay. Unfortunately our TV did not work but the reception staff member upgraded us to a suite and we had a lovely stay . The staff were very lovely at the bar and reception and worked really hard . Thank you . You were appreciated by us.

Having computer check, defeats the objective of personal and human service. Especially when they don’t work and there are no staff present and no way to contact anyone Bring back the human contact

Stayed one night as a solo traveller. Found it perfect. Very friendly, helpful staff. Very clean. Very safe. Very comfortable. Enjoyed my meal in the restaurant very much. Parking close by. Fantastic building.

Nobody was attending the reception desk on our arrival, we had to wait and finally found someone quite nonchalant by the bar. The room had been refurbished recently and presented well, despite the housekeeping not being their principal concern as we found some personal items from the previous occupant. The view from the room was quite concerning and the front of the hotel says it all about the cleanliness and the attention to details. The morning was a lot better with a warm welcoming lady attending the reception desk and looking after the breakfast buffet. This was well presented and of good quality.

turned up after being assured there was disabled access only to find out it was a fire exit that was blocked up with tables and other furniture,the member of staff on didnt even know it was there,had a fight to get refund as could not get in and had to stay at travelodge which was an extra £30 from what we had paid for this room,area around was not looking safe and hard to fathom where parking was.

It is what it is. A hotel in the centre of Hartlepool. No frills, a bed and a shower. Clean but not new or stylish. Local vicinity doesn’t have much going on.

We stayed here for 2 nights, but had to move from our 1st room due to broken window and kettle. We moved next door which was okay, but the cleanliness ciuld have been better. Window sills were filthy and cobwebs hanging from the ceiling above the window. Outside was quite noisy at night. We never got asked if we wanted to pay for breakfast or needed to book a table for a meal. So although its called a Grand Hotel it isnt quite that on the inside.

Absolutely beautiful hotel !!! Hotel so lovely and very friendly and helpful , just been refinished and stunning hotel room absolutely massive !lush breakfast ! Ideal location for shops restaurants and pubs ! Beautiful Marina 5 mins drive Will definitely be going back and Would definitely recommend 100%

Myself and my husband stayed at the best western grand hotel to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary, the staff were so helpful, nothing was too much, we had a meal at the Mumbai restaurant, it was beautiful, we stayed in the Thurston suite, highly recommend this hotel ☺️, shopping centre two minute walk, the Hartlepool mariner museum is a five minute walk 👍

It was conveniently located in the city centre and the room had everything I needed. It’s an alright hotel but there were some engineering works going on ao the lift was out of order and the room’s sound proofing was not good so you may hear some noises from others. But overall clean and comfy room so good for a short stay.

Love this hotel ,close to everything, breakfast is the best and service is great ,i had to cut my trip early due to health conditions but will be booking again.

Freindly staff, room was cozy had everything that was needed although bed was a little hard for my likeing but thats just personal choice,breakfast was probly best ive had in any hotel, hotel is close to local pubs,diners infact everything ,will definetly be using again.

Small room was clean but needs attention. Kettle has wiring problem . Sink taps drip . Shower doors don't close, no bed side table or shelf for specs or phone. Had a third floor room and lift wasn't working. Nowhere to hang towels Room wasn't made up for second night stay. Breakfast not included. limited parking. Plus point + had a very good Indian Restaurant in Cellar area.

Staff friendly and fairly attentive. Andy the bar man was great. Only negatives were due to any lack of identity/ uniform, it was sometimes hard to know who the staff actually were. Coffee/ Fruit juice at breakfast very watery!

So basically we came in after getting married to be told we was in a normal bedroom but we ordered the suite. It got sorted in the end. Also the music from the bar kept me up quite late so don’t open your windows.. the bed was comfortable but the pillow was like rocks! The breakfast was ok I guess beans were cold. Then when we went to check out they tried to charge us again! So please double check and keep receipts

The rooms were fine but there is no air conditioning so in hot weather it may not suit some people. For the price including breakfast and parking it is good value. Our room was modernised but the bathroom had old style taps that were difficult to turn on and off.

The staff here are outstandingly friendly, helpful and professional. The restaurant in the basement is first class for food and, once again, the staff are incredible. Even if you don't stay at the hotel, try the restaurant, you won't be disappointed. The hotel is in a lovely building and the public areas are very nice. However, the room I had was very tired. It needed a new shower and there were water stains on the ceiling and walls where they must have had a water leak above and it hadn't been painted. The wifi was very weak and I couldn't do any online work in my room. Overall though, it is a well placed hotel with great staff and I would stay there again because of this fact.
