Room was pretty run down. Chunk of carpet cut out, sink badly stained and no drain stopper, chair covered in pet hair, rock hard pillows, pool and hot tub weren’t operating, ceiling leaking in hallway. Staff was friendly.

The rooms are in rough shape. Our first room had such a horrific chemical smell in it we had to be moved. The pool is closed , that was the only reason we booked to stay here. We wouldn’t stay here again.

The hotel reminded me of a trap house motel from back home. There were broke down cars on jacks in the parking lot. The pool has been down for months. With no indication on the website that it was down. Would have never booked it if I would have know that. Over all it was quiet through the night. One of the outlets look sketchy to use. There was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. No vent fan. The sink didn’t have a drain plug. And when we ran the water in the sink. The smell that came out of it was horrible. The vent that was in the wall at the top of the ceiling had gum in it. How does that even happen. Housekeeping never came for the second day to give us clean towels. But I guess you get what you pay for. If it would have been just myself and my spouse I wouldn’t have cared. But it was my daughter and I. I really didn’t feel safe. Since the outside lock didn’t work. Anyone had free access to just walk in the hotel from the backside. If you have kids. Stay somewhere else.

The staff was not very friendly and I talked to the same front desk worker multiple times and every time was the same. Our room was in the back hallway and there are not signs showing there is more rooms at the end of either hallway. The pool was closed which was a bummer but not a deal breaker. And there was an altercation where multiple cops showed up. I have stayed many times but this one was the worst of my experiences here.

Pool is closed, breakfast bar was hardly edible. And the room looked nothing like its picture. Was very dark and gloomy. My kitchenette consisted of a kureg on top of a microwave on top of a mini fridge. The electrical outlet by the bed had an electrical adapter on it, and the outlet itself wasnt even attached to the wall. I think the person before me spilt something on the floor cause there was a wet spot. The hotel needs a complete renovation is the best I can say.and sound dampening. I heard every noise my neighbors made. The staff were the 1 good part of this stay. They were very friendly.

No one was at the front desk and there wasn't any breakfast our first morning. There were broken bottles in the parking lot. The pool and hot tub were out of order as well as the soft drink vending machine. We will not stay here again.

Super gross room. Was told we were being moved rooms. Had concert tickets so just dropped our bags after we checked in and headed out the door. When we came back at midnight we discovered this is what the room looked like and there was no one at the front desk. Super disappointed. Have emailed the hotel with no response back

Check in was quick and easy, however our room was not that great. The floor felt as if it was soaked and just left sticky, there was heavy mildew smell in the bathroom, and the window was absolutely filthy. The morning we had checked out we had found a yogurt container in their breakfast area that had mold on it.

The photos on the website must have been taken years ago. The outside around the building and the courtyard were full of weeds and garbage. The pool is still not working. The downstairs rooms smelled awful and our room was not clean so we switched to an upstairs room when we arrived which was a little better. The rooms were okay but the sink had cigarette burns and parts of the carpet were crunchy. But there was hot water and the air conditioner worked. The lady that checked us in was very nice and I didn't get her name but the rest of the staff were marginal. We asked for new towels and they were given to us a few hours later unfolded since she didn't have time to fold them. Not a big deal but odd. All the linens had a funky smell. It appeared there were people living there that were a little sketchy. The chairs in the courtyard should have been replaced years ago. We would have switched hotels but went for a concert so everywhere close was booked. For the price it was tolerable but I wouldn't stay there again.

This hotel is dirty!! Upon checking into a room, we found the carpet hadn’t been vacuumed at all and the shower was unclean. We asked for a new room and that one was worse! Again not vacuumed, broken chips all over the floor, holes in the wall, bathroom door wouldn’t close because it was falling apart, cobwebs all over the ceiling. It must be the norm there, there were no apologies at all. If you want clean, do Not stay here.

I would not recommend staying here. The room we were given was dirty and clearly not cleaned properly before our arrival. The sink would back flow overtime you ran the water. We had to brush our teeth with a water bottle. To make matters worse, there was obvious drug dealing and shady activity going on outside at night, which made us feel unsafe. People were leaving the back door of the hotel propped open. We had the room at the very end next to the door as could here all this activity go on ALL NIGHT LONG. We ended up leaving the room at 1am and driving to a safe place to sleep in our car. The pool was also closed and under construction—a major amenity we expected to use and that was never disclosed at booking. Check-in was also unpleasant; the staff seemed disorganized. Overall, a very disappointing experience and not worth the money.

The property was not good sketchy area, checked in and checked right back out the room smelled terrible of musty mold, room was not clean. Bathroom smelled like pee. Very gross would not have felt comfortable sleeping in the beds or showering, do not recommend staying here.

The window did not have a lock, and the glass in the window was white discolored, not clear...defective glass? The bathroom light above the sink had 3 lights, the left would barly light up and the other two did not work at all...dark for putting on my makeup.

Staff did what they could but they booked us in an occupied room. Second room was full of tools and apparently being remodeled, third room the TV didn't work. Promised a rebate, but they were gone by morning and that never happened. That aside, it was remarkably clean for a budget hotel. Once they get management figured out it'll be a good place to catch some zzz's

We stayed one night at The Dakota in Sioux Falls as a stopover before heading to Chicago, and overall it was a pleasant experience. The facilities were clean and comfortable, and the room was spacious — exactly what you need after a long day on the road. The lady at reception was exceptionally kind and welcoming, which we truly appreciated. Check-in did feel noticeably longer than at other places we’ve stayed during our trip even though the guest checking in in front of us was mostly done, but the staff remained courteous throughout and was simply filling all the paper work needed to give us our keys. Our biggest disappointment was that the swimming pool was unavailable, despite our confirmation email received that day highlighting the pool hours of operation. After a seven-hour drive, a swim would have been perfect and we were looking forward to it. The receptionist saw our devasted faces when she shared that the pool was closed and actually offered compensation, but unfortunately, since we had booked through Expedia, she couldn’t process it. Talk about disappointment!! Breakfast was standard for this type of stay - simple but sufficient. The hotel is also conveniently located close to charming downtown Sioux Falls, which pleasantly surprised us with great dining options, a beautiful park, and interesting historical sites. Despite the hiccup with the pool, we’d still say it was a good stay overall, and the friendly service made a difference.

When I arrived, I was check into a room that really did not meet my standards. I went back to the front desk, told her my concerns and she spoke to the manager. the manager showed me a different room and then went above and beyond to make sure all of my needs were meant. I would not have stayed had it not been for her! She was fantastic! It just goes to show that if you take a positive approach with management and give them a chance to resolve the issues you have, you just might be surprised at how well they do. I would give the staff, especially the Manager at this hotel an A++

No one was at the front desk and there wasn't any breakfast our first morning. There were broken bottles in the parking lot. The pool and hot tub were out of order as well as the soft drink vending machine. We will not stay here again.

Took over 1 hr to check in, we reserved 2 rooms, first try she put all of us in same room, then 2 different rooms, keys didn't work. Had to go back get keys to work, hall was full of rocks, dirt, the room smelled horrendous and was dirty. We went back asked for refund told had to send us check? Then found out charged wrong card, couldn't fix or give receipt. I expect a full refund.

The hotel stay allow transient people to stand outside the front doors, hang out in the lobby and it was very uncomfortable because the strange man would watch me go to and from my room every day. They allowed his dog to poop right on the sidewalk at the entry so we had to walk by it getting to our car. There was also a disturbance with some drunk guests and it was very violent and the staff members did not handle it or call the cops or kick out the rowdy drunks. I will not be staying there on my next trip.

CLOSE TO AIRPORT AT A REASONABLE PRICE, Rooms need more updating, my room's door to bathroom was coming apart bottom of door was clear taped together. Staff was nice. We were in town for the Ringneck softball tournament. The hotel is located on the edge of town but still close to downtown, the zoo and plenty of nearby restaurants and stores. The beds were comfortable. The free breakfast consisted of toast, bagels, yogurt, fruit and cold cereal. No hot food items. That was pretty disappointing. The pool was ok, has a waterslide and also a hot tub. The outside courtyard is nice. Looks like it will be even nicer if they keep cleaning the old dead things out. Some work to get the water feature and pond going would be nice. Lots of people were out there enjoying that space. We would definitely stay here again. Especially for $100-150 per night less per night than the hotels down the street. I can go get my own breakfast and still save money.

The Dakota is badly in need of renovation. The hall floors were filthy. There was no drain plug for the sink and the one for the tub was not attached. The wood on bathroom door was coming apart in several places. There was no iron and ironing board and there was no coffee pot in the room. When checking in, the staff person had her child there and she could not get any of my information spelled correctly, so check-in took way longer than it should have. And the parking lot needs to be repaved. I heard people outside of my room cursing profanities and I didn’t feel safe. I left as early as I could.

During check-in, another gentleman and I were talking while the front desk person was checking me in. I was so excited for the breakfast, the receptionist made a comment she is unsure what the cook will have in the AM, told her no big deal, nothing was ever bad. The other gentleman was excited as well. She got me checked in went on my way. The next morning, they do not have breakfast. They have toast and cereal. How disappointing. If I would have known they would not have had breakfast, I would have went to the event I was attending early for breakfast. After asking, they do not know if breakfast will return.

Hotel is run down. Pool area needs TLC. Room carpets are very old. Walls have been repainted but not a quality job. Stairwells were dirty. Not enough towels, only had two in the room for a family of 5. No towels in the pool area. Understaffed, the front receptionist was doing many jobs. Breakfast was ok, eggs were very soggy. The seating area has been remodeled and was decent.
