Langley Castle Hotel

We booked a last minute one night getaway to Langley Castle and the whole experience was perfect. Every member of staff was friendly and kind without being too attentive / disturbing us. The room was lovely with lots of little added touches. The hotel is very dog friendly and our Shiba had a lovely time! The castle is impressive and the woodlands around it are very pretty. The Castle View room was a good size with a lovely set of high back chairs beside a table - perfect for playing cards! The drawing room and bar area is very unique within the castle and dogs can come in to that space. Finally the evening meal and breakfast in the dining room were delicious!

Langley Castle Hotel is set in the most beautiful countryside, surrounded by tall trees and grassy lawns, where peacocks roam. The staff were lovely. Professional, friendly and highly efficient. Kaycee on Reception, deserves a special mention because she went over and above what he duties are. She really made our stay perfect.

From turning up the driveway to the moment we left we felt like special guests who were staying in an historic English castle. The key aspect of this stay was that you are staying in a castle steeped in English and Scottish history. It has been adapted in keep with historic guidance to make it a 4 star hotel and so there are interesting rooms, nooks and cranny’s which make it a unique and exciting place to spend some special time with family. All the staff are very tentative and eager to please. The rooms open to all guests are elegant and there was ample seating and the rooms were all lovely and warm. Our room, The Cadwallader Room, was majestic and beautiful. Access was via the original spiral staircase which may be a challenge to anyone with mobility issues. This would also be the case for a few of the other rooms so check in advance if you have concerns. Beautiful grounds with peacocks and lovely paths to stroll around. Ample parking. We had breakfast which was table service. Lovey full English and eggs Benedict. Other people had continental breakfast’s which also looked delicious. Great location to explore Hadrians Wall and other local historic sights. They give you a free Langley castle history tour each morning at 1015am which I would recommend as it’s nice and light hearted giving you a glimpse into the history the castle has witnessed up to the current day. I would recommend this stay to anyone who wants to have a relaxed time where you are spolit.

Langley Castle is stunning, we are staying in one of the outside rooms, lovely large room with everything that we need. Lovely grounds, with a Peacock in . Outstanding food & interior of the castle, staff are very friendly too. You can even go on a tour of the castle.

Our accommodation in one of the out buildings was superb. It was tastefully decorated and had air conditioning with a really comfortable bed. The en suite bathroom was big. The grounds of the castle were fabulous as were the 2 peacocks who freely roamed around. From the gardener to the reception, bar and waiting staff were very friendly and professional.

WE HAVE STAYED AT 21 CASTLES - ESTATES IN THE UK OVER THE LAST 5 YRS AND ALWAYS STAY AT 5 STAR LOCATIONS IF POSSIBLE. OVERALL, THIS IS A VERY SOLID 4 HOTEL -- NOT THE FULL SERVICE YOU WOULD GET AT 5 STAR ---- YOU HAVE TO LUG ALL YOUR LUGGAGE UP MASSIVE STAIRS TO YOUR ROOM --- THERE IS NO AC SO YOU GOTTA COMPLAIN SO THEY WILL GIVE YOU A FAN OR 2 --- THE 5 STAR CASTLES HAVE PORTABLE -FAN/AC UNITS WHICH WORK GREAT .... THIS PLACE DOES NOT--- THIS PLACE COULD BE A 5 STAR IF IT WAS UPDATED WITH MORE GRAND FURNISHINGS AND OTHER THINGS LIKE NICE ROBES - NICER TOWELS

Fantastic service, staff are excellent, a great and unusual place to stay with very good food and well kept beer at a reasonable price. Be aware, if you chose the Tower Room there are 101 steps from reception to you floor, quite a treck if you're not in great shape, but doable.

The dining room is beautifully presented, crisp white linen and sparkling cutlery and glassware . Breakfast was excellent, evening meals were a little disappointing. Most guests will have a room in the Castle View buildings which are separate from the castle. Room was a good size, although the furniture had seen better days, but with the advantage of working air conditioning. The bathroom was spotless. However, the mattress was uncomfortable and unfortunately we experienced a fire alarm at 03.36, no explanation and no protocol observed.

We booked a room in the castle but unbeknown to us was moved to an annex complex outside. (Because we had a dog) fair enough but we still assumed it was within the castle itself - Had we known this, we would not have booked

The BEST hotel we stayed at during our 2 week trip to UK. The hotel itself is unbelievable - part of a long gone history, impeccably maintained with very clean grounds, facilities and rooms. The staff is extremely polite, attentive, patient and professional. The rooms are very clean and intimate. The restaurant is exquisite and the food just out of this world. From the first bite, to the last, you wish plates would keep on coming. Highly recommended and quite affordable.

Everyone who worked there was incredibly friendly & helpful and our room was superb and spotlessly clean, as were the dining room & residents lounge. The welcome we received was incredibly warm and relaxed, making us feel instantly comfortable despite the grand surroundings of the castle. We had an evening meal & 2 breakfasts in the restaurant and, like everything else about Langley Castle, the food was absolutely first class. The whole experience was the perfect way to spend a 'landmark' birthday, we will definitely be back. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so special.

Langley Castle Hotel is situated near to the main tourist access areas to Hadrian’s Wall. We stayed for 1 night in room 25, which is a deluxe room with a castle view. What one actually gets is a partial view of the castle, as most of it is obscured by trees, which are lovely. The room was lovely, but being honest I wouldn’t class it as being deluxe. The room was on the first floor of a row of terraced cottages. The decor of the entrance, stairs and small landing needs attending to, as does a significant area of the ceiling over the bath where the paint is peeling off. When one pays a high price for something, then it is only too right to expect high standards. The room was otherwise very comfortable and spacious. Although fairly expensive, the dinner chosen from the “relaxed” menu was excellent, as was the breakfast the following morning. The choice was excellent, with everything being cooked to perfection. The staff were all very attentive and friendly, with nothing being too much trouble. On the morning of departure, we took part in a historic tour of the castle which was lead by one of the waitresses, Eilidh. She was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history of the property and its surroundings. She was an excellent guide, who quite honestly made our stay that bit more special. We’d certainly consider staying at this hotel again and it’s thoroughly recommended.

A little disappointing for a 4 star hotel The bathroom on particular needed an upgrade

Spectacular castle set in beautiful surroundings however I'm afraid I came away a little disappointed. Lots of cobwebs in our room and the in room furniture was in need replacing. This was a theme which repayed throughout the hotel. There was real lack of attention to detail. The other issue was the staff- with the exception of two waiters and one fron of house , they generally seem to lack enthusiasm for the role and paid little attention to the guests. I feel more training is needed in this area. If they can sort thisbissue out and begin replacing the old worn furniture then they a far more likely to see more guests returning.

Friendly staff, lovely building, cobwebs in the bathroom and bin not emptied from previous occupant, wonky tap and no bathrobe or slippers from a 4 star hotel. Food amazing but finishing touches of service was very poor. Nice enough place but wouldn't stop there again.

The room was a bit dated and needs a good makeover. Cobwebs above the bed, and unfortunately a pile of dog mess on the patio. Good points are the location and the staff. The staff are exceptional and nothing is too much trouble.

Langley Castle was truly a unique experience. Our room was lovely and the sitting area within the room a delight. However, the mattress was too soft for both our tastes. My wife is much less particular than I but even she had a problem with it. On the other hand, we loved the dining experience and the ambience was great.

We stayed in a castle view suite - the bed was terrible - I think it was a double pushed together. Expected better. This was the most expensive place we stayed at on our trip and I don’t think it was worth the money. Very over priced so can’t recommend.

The room and bathroom was very spacious. We loved spending time on the balcony however when it was dark there was no lights. Would of liked lights outside so we could have stayed outside longer. The grounds are beautiful and peacocks roam around freely. Such a beautiful place.

It was a dream come true. Always wanted to stay in a castle and it exceeded my expectations. We stayed in the Radcliffe room. Unbelievable. Clean spacious and felt like a princess. Sauna was a nice touch and the bath was absolutely beautiful and spacious enough for 2. Would’ve liked bubble bath or epsom salts that’s the only thing I would’ve asked for. High tea was impressive with plenty of food and evening finding was amazing fresh and tasty. We didn’t want to leave

Truly a fantastic experience! The tour was great! The evening the castle was so quiet it was great! Really fantastic! Minor quibble is the shower was small and short but otherwise perfect!!

We arrived for a 2 night anniversary treat. We parked up, took our luggage in then was informed our room was in a separate annex, so had to lug our cases back into the car to drive down to the Castle lodge area. Our room itself was adequate but very dated. The bathroom door didn't close properly, the shower was in the bath but the bath water still continued to flow whilst showering. However, we had a lovely balcony where we sat and watched the birds and the peacocks came to say hello. We dined both evenings. They have a relaxed dining menu and a fine dining menu. I wasn't told about the vegetarian menu as not much choice on the other menus .I had to ask. We thought the food we received was not in keeping with the price we paid. You are paying for the location. It is a wedding venue after all. All staff were wonderful, big shout out to Francesca for a lovely welcome and also Diana who was our waitress both evening. The surprise chocolates were a lovely gesture. I really do not think we will be back. Too overpriced.

We can't praise this hotel and the staff highly enough. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel itself is beautiful, everything is run so smoothly and professionally, the food was delicious. Basically, we didn't want to go home. A great choice for our silver wedding anniversary

Langley Castle hotel is a unique opportunity to stay in a 4 star, 600 year old part of history that includes excellent service in every area and top rated dining.

Food bad, restaurant service bad. Table booked 7.30 finally shown to table 8.20, main course arrived 9.15. Steak inedible, vegetarian options very limted and bad. Altogether extremely disappointing

The majority of the staff were very helpful. The first impression as a seasoned business traveller was not good. Whilst waiting to check in at reception I watch a chef walking through the dining room towards me ~ vaping! Breakfast was probably one of that worst I have ever had. The soft poached eggs were cold and very undercooked. I left after paying a rather large sum to stay in the Castle very disappointed, good job I had a packet of biscuits in the car to see my through the 4 hour journey home. I won’t mention the rude comment made by the head waiter regarding a certain football team which just happened to be my place of birth. .

Let's just say, I'm going back, in fact, everytime I need an overnight stop enroute for Scotland holidays. Or even just a wander around the magical Beamish Living Museum, Banbaraugh Castle or Cragside. They're are all in easy reach without going near the madness of our city's.

An extremely nice place, almost too swank for me! But it was very comfortable, the service was excellent, and both the hotel and the surrounding countryside are beautiful. Well worth the trip, especially if you have an interest in history.

Lovely setting, great ambience with period decoration. The rooms were lovely and warm even though the staircase was understandably cool on one of the coldest days of the year. The real fire that was roaring in the main sitting area made a comfortable room to enjoying a drink or two. The tour was excellent. The only problem we had was getting to the location due to the access road being closed temporarily which we were unaware of and the diversion wasn't signposted well. Check with the hotel before travelling. Staff were friendly and coversational, offering advice and knowledge of the castles history. Would suggest more defined paths in the garden to enable circular walks especially for the winter / wet months

Its a lovely little castle. The tour is wonderful. Staff and service were very very good. The menu was limited and even steak/veg/ attracted an extra charge. The veg on the menu was limited to various potatoes and tenderstem brocolli or green salad. The food we had was beautifully cooked and presented.

If you've ever dreamed of staying in a real castle, this place will make that dream come true. It is the genuine article. Not only was the room amazing, but the meals in the restaurant were out of this world amazing. Breakfast was superb. And if you want to live like a king, splurge on the fine dining dinner option. You won't be disappointed.

The castle and castle tour was great. The room and building was the real castle. Dinner was very fancy. We loved our stay.

Interesting place. You're more than likely not staying in the actual Castle. Rather, in building a short walk down a hill. We stayed in the middle of the week, so no weddings in the way. Our room had an amazing bathroom. The Staff wasn't rude, but also wasn't very nice. The restaurant was expensive and limited choices, but it was nice to have breakfast each morning. It was nice to have a stay in the country. So quite and calm.
