The Fernhurst by Greene King Inns

We were running late to tried to call ahead to arrange a late check in. Unfortunately the AI receptionist "Charlie" was almost impossible to get past unless you ask directly for the front desk. Called at least 10 times before got an answer from a really decent chap called Matt. Obviously overworked and understaffed, he was the highlight of the stay, and sorted us out when we arrived. Parking is good, food is fine but the hotel is suffering from under investment. Room was spacious but not pleasant at all. Stains on the carpet and mould, hair and dust in the bathroom. In some areas of the room there was a strong smell of stale urine. We may just have been unlucky, but it was late and I didn't want to bother poor Matt again to change rooms. The room needed a thorough deep clean from top to bottom. Super location though, and two thumbs up for Matt!

The Fenhurst is a good place to stay, value for money. Large comfortable rooms. Pub with food next door which hotel provides menu for.

Only one electrical sicket in the room. Ate in the attached pub. One word, awful!

The lodge was very convenient for Ewood park and the pub was lovely serving a good selection of beers and lovely meals. The room was big with a very comfortable king size bed but the bathroom was dated, the shower was good except the piping was coming away from the wall and the cold water tap was stuck solid.

Great location, 5 minutes' walk to Ewood Park. Furnishings are dated, the room could have used a newer mattress and it would have been nice to have more than one wall socket... but the room was clean, I had a good night's rest and the pub next door was quite good. I would stay here again.

This was just a one night stay , everything was fine comfortable clean bedroom. Restaurant/bar can't fault food was good and staff very friendly. My only negative was i was unable to get a receipt on departure, and was told they would email it, but still waiting ?

We stayed here because of a family memory with our Dad. Low price but don’t think I’d stay here again. The pub was very good (service & food). The restaurant/pub couldn’t open for breakfast because the cook didn’t show up. The night before we arrived, another person staying at the hotel said the restaurant & pub closed down more than than 2 hrs before the time posted. The restaurant & pub are the ONLY places to access the wifi. THE SLEEPING ROOMS DO NOT HAVE WIFI. Very inconvenient, especially when the pub & restaurant aren’t open as expected. It’s a tired hotel. The halls could use a coat of paint! We were switched to a room with a larger bed. In both rooms, there are only 2 available plugs - one in the bathroom and the one the kettle is plugged into. The sheets and bed were clean & comfortable but the bathrooms in both rooms need a good scrub. Aside from the amount of blackened grout, there were cobwebs or hair at the base of of the bathroom door frames. In the second room, the inside of the bathroom door looked like something was spilled /sprayed on it (or maybe someone got sick & it was just wiped down?)

I always book the Fernhurst for my football trips and it never disappoints, I had dinner in the restaurant and that was delicious, I will be back

Check in took ages to find someone to actually check in. Bathroom grubby and mould around bath, bed very creaky. On the plus side the electric car charging from ChargePoint were perfect.

Excellent choice for the football. Clean rooms with good shower, pub and food next door and takeaways just down the road. Car park too. Greene King is not my favourite beer, but if it has to be GK they could at least keep the cask ale going. Why is it always OK for GK not to offer cask ale??

horrendous, full of mould, bathroom not clean. when fire alarm went off no one answered the phone and pub next door where advised to report it to, no one was there doors was locked. when someone came they just silenced it and said it was ok with no checks followed out. had to clean the room before i could sleep staff i saw was ok but left at 9pm and no one there before check out to talk to about the issue

On arriving at reception, kids and anti social behaviour hanging around, not hotels fault but they were messing around with a supermarket trolley on the car park. The female member of staff belittled the man on reception numerous times which made us feel uncomfortable and genuinely no need. Very tired interior throughout. The walls on the staircase had splatter of some description like something had been thrown. Room 24. On entering the room greeted with disheveled curtain and light shade. Mouldy bathroom with dirt/mouldy grout and sealant. Mouldy ceiling. The toilet seat didn’t fit the toilet and moved. Even though the bedsheets were clean, they had previous stains, dread to think about what’s underneath them, with how the rest of the place is. Sorry to say I won’t back

It was a great place to stay and convenient, food was top class, The room was very large and comfortable, only one slight hitch, the window would not shut fully the hinge one side was broken and looked like it had been that way for some time, but apart from that it was perfect would stay again.

Average hotel. The bed was comfy. It is very dated and needs a refurb.

Tired hotel room. Paint flaking off ceiling, broken extractor fan, broken lamp in bedroom, broken light in bathroom, 1 plug socket opposite bed, window didn’t close properly and furniture all chipped and damaged. Would expect better at a Blackpool B&B for half the price.

Wifi rubbish. Outdated bathroom and only one plug socket in a family room. Wouldn’t go again

Having read the reviews I was a little concerned that staying here was a poor choice but I was pleasantly surprised. Double room was indeed dated in terms of decor but all still in good condition with all one could need. Super comfy bed, spacious room, good ensuite and big TV. Wardrobe, hair dryer, tea and coffee and bedside lamp so all good. Would definitely go back.

Basic . Lots of traffic noise and noise outside . Hard bed. Tatty carpets .Good location next to Ewood for football stays.

We needed to be able to check in an hour earlier than stated as we had to get changed and travel to a wedding. The staff were very helpful and allowed us . Result , we didn't have to get changed in the toilets at the venue and made it on time suited and booted 😂

The manager on duty was amazing, he was a very busy guy doing check ins and working the bar amongst other things. Give that man a pay rise😀

Arrived for a football match at 3pm across the road, the reception didn’t open until 2pm, making it a hurry to be there for kick-off, when the lady who came to open reception began at 2 she was inundated with people checking in. Pipe work in the toilet sounded in the room and bathroom door had seen better days. Small supply of teas and coffees so you have to go and request more.

The staff were very helpful, the food was excellent. The condition of the premises was a bit tired but clean and tidy. The food was delicious and there was lots of choices to suit every taste bud.

Good stop for a visit to Blackburn Rovers

Only downside- Blackburn Rovers were at home (stadium across the road), torrential rain and the car park was fenced off so had to run about trying to find someone (sitting inside in the dry) to let us in. Rooms are large, very clean and the reception staff were great. Have stayed here 3 times now and would stay again

Very convenient and accommodating.

The Fernhurst was convenient for our stay, local to bus links and the town centre. Accommodation was a reasonable cost for the facilities and standard provided.

Location was good and the building had character, a little bit old and in need of upkeep. Overall clean

Only stayed one night at The Fernhurst. The room was basic and in need of an update but it was clean. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly.

Check in was easy and room very large. Bathroom a tad small though and very tired with loose tap and shabby panelling.Staff friendly and helpful especially in the pub/restaurant next door. Food quality and drink prices good value!

Got to hotel given room the window didn’t shut properly and bathroom tap was wobbly. Given another room it was awful! Marks on heater that didn’t give out heat for more than a foot away, bathroom door bubbled paintwork at bottom of door, woodwork in corner by door as if something had chewed it, stains in towels will definitely not stay there again. Manager just said the hotel needed a lot of work needed to be done to it !!! Food was awful as well waited 45 minutes to have cold chips and dried chicken New Yorker . We did get refunded for that
