We really enjoyed our recent stay at the Royal Oak in Keswick. All the staff were really helpful and friendly, and Cerys, in particular stood out, checked us in efficiently, and without fuss. She also recommended local places to eat, one being the the Fellpack, which was excellent. Our room was well-equipped and cosy, newly, tastefully decorated. The location was accessible to the town shops, bars and restaurants, all within walking distance. We would recommend parking at the local rugby club, rather than trying to workout complicated parking times and amounts at the council car parks. The hotel restaurant was cosy with delicious, home cooked menu choices.

Friendly staff all trying to help. For us a bit of a catalog of errors. All only small just a lack of attention to detail. Night one forgot the onion rings on steak meal. Saturday breakfast, run out of porridge. Its oats and milk. Asked for scrambled eggs when offered, got a poached egg. Room refreshed but bed not made up. Asked for a Sherry at the bar Saturday night, OK but told no Sherry glasses will a wine glass do. Apparently an extensive facelift has taken place. I think I understand the look that has been gone for, older, traditional. For me it was tired and needing a refurb. A look at the furniture showed no tears in seat or chips and scratches obviously fairly new, but the general appearance was one of tiredness. Table tops looking old with finished varnish peeling and worn. Floor needing attention. If the intention was to create a look like a run down town pup in need of an update you hit the nail on the head.

We’ve just spent two nights at the Royal Oak and had a lovely stay. The rooms are lovely, everything is clean and tidy, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is incredible, and the location is perfect for exploring Keswick and the lake.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights stay with our two dogs. The room was super, clean and we loved the fact you could get fresh milk in a flask to have with your tea! The hotel is very dog friendly and the staff were absolutely brilliant. We would like to give a huge shout out to Cerys who welcomed us when we arrived and was so hospitable throughout our stay. She was genuinely interested in all that we were doing and was so very attentive. This was our second visit and they’re short to be a third.
