Good value hotel. Conveniently close to rail connections and in the heart of the CBD. Just a few minor issues. TV remote didn't function, steam room was mediocre, and Reception staff only allowed extra half hour delay to checkout - and then jealously ensured that I was out of my room!

The gym was well-equipped, and there was also a steam room. The staff were very accommodating and communicated clearly about the early check-in options that may depend on availability. They managed to arrange a room for me to check in early, which I really appreciated. Central walkable location.

Great location and friendly staff. Did take advantage of the Thai restaurant in the basement, really convenient. 3 lifts meant we could call them very quickly. Bed was huge and really comfortable. Would recommend the bagel shop a few doors down.

Love this hotel. It is very well priced and a fantastic location. Room was clean, comfortable and very quiet. The staff are professional and make you feel special and spoilt! Shout out to Anita on reception who is one of the loveliest people we’ve ever met. So helpful and kind. She really made an impression on us. I would honestly choose this hotel over the crown for the customer service alone. It was our wedding anniversary and it couldn’t have been more of a perfect stay. Extra bonus was the $16 parking for 2 nights thanks to hotel discount. We’ll be back.

Jug was rusty inside so couldn’t use but it’s Melbourne do plenty of coffee options! More than 2 towels would be good. Loved the convenient location and the Thai restaurant below was amazing!

Fantastic Location, perfect for a girls night in town, booked the room with 3 King singles. The Thai resturant in the basement was a tasty and good value. Parked at the Galleria - 131 Elizabeth Street, which was a 2 minute walk. Would book again

What we liked • The TV was a good size and well placed • Table side lights were good, not too bright, positioned well • Bed was very comfortable • Good placement of power points, especially in the bathroom • Always had soap and toiletries available • Not much light got into the room thanks to its location the quality blackout cover - however - unless on the top levels, you will probably only get a view of the building directly opposite • Excellent location in the CBD, everything you could need was accessible • Gym was easy to get to and open all times • Restaurant and bar was directly accessible via elevator most times of the day (AND THE RESTAURANT HAS KERFUS) What could be better • Washing machines were expensive to use ($8 each use!), could only be accessed between certain hours (8AM - 8PM), and only accepted $1-$2 coins • Could only get change from the front counter on weekends, difficult to get otherwise since a lot of places only accept card payments • The entryway light was part of the same circuit as the lights near the windows, could not turn off one without turning off the other as well • Steam Room was out of order the entire duration (9 days) of stay • Magnetic card system for using elevator and doors showing its age, would frequently require multiple attempts before successfully reading card data, made accessing facilities difficult sometimes • Would have liked there to be some manner of rooftop access to check out the cityscape

This place is shabby and dirty. Based on the condition of the lobby with stained walls and sofas, I should have expected that the room would be as horrible as it was. I don't know where the reviewers who love this place stayed but it could not have been this hotel. The photos they post are certainly not current. My room was so dusty and dirty that it made me feel itchy. When I complained they sent a guy in a suit with a cloth. He wiped around but did not clean. When I showed him the huge amount of dirt on the walls, the baseboards and underneath almost everything he got the real cleaners to come. I had to show them how to clean. When I asked them to pull out the bed to vacuum I was almost ill. No one had done that in a long time.The freezer was encrusted with ice and so unusable. I mentioned it to the cleaner and she unplugged it. This created a load of water that seeped put onto the carpet. What a disaster! I checked out after Expedia talked to them and they agreed to refund the unused portion. They also charge a security fee.....I guess that they don't feel that their normal clientele can be trusted to not trash the place. I had to pay this (apparently it's in the small...very small/.....print) and now I have to wait for 7-10 days for a refund. What a scam! So I paid for one night in this rat hole and moved by 7:30 AM to my new accommodation. Do not stay in this place. I still feel dirty after 2 showers

We found the room service not very good. Our rooms weren’t cleaned. I had a bleeding nose the first night we got there and it got on the top of the blankets and on the pillow and we told the front desk about it and all they did was go and flip the pillows and move the sheets so they thought we couldn’t see it And the bathrooms were very smelly. The staff at the front desk were amazing. The only complaint I had was about the cleaning.

The room was very clean and staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Central city location and positioned in a cute laneway with cafes right outside the hotel doors. Would definitely stay here again

Check in easy, room small and seemingly clean, AC shotty- difficult to program and was not cooling efficiently but was ok. Shower hot and great pressure! Bed was a bit firm as were pillows. Great location, walkable to a lot of attractions, shops, food. Overall a great stay.

We love this hotel and this was our 4th stay Location is amazing, surrounded by great shopping and restaurant options. Very clean with comfortable beds. The block out curtains are fantastic for a nice sleep in.

Great location and nice clean room, although not much natural light. Downside was lack of soundproofing, made it sound like we were inside the elevator every time it 'dinged' (often). Room upgrade not offered (VIP benefit) and although late check-out was provided, our room key stopped working at 10am and we were told we needed to request the late check out (despite being told we already had it at check-in).

Stayed one night. One thing that is very unusual about this hotel is that they take a $100 deposit at check in. This sum is deducted from your account and you have to wait a month before you get it back. This arrangement is very different to most other hotels. The room was dated and room decor is basic. From a positive point of view, staff were very helpful in dealing with left luggage.

Room was clean and tidy and beds are comfy. Staff need to explain a bit better on the room keys to be able to access the lift and so forth. Seemed a bit unorganised on arrival at the front counter on trying to check in. But other then that the room was great

The property was in a good area. The room was clean. The staff was not up to date on my reservation. We were booked in the wrong room, and I was not upgraded. Even after a room change, we still did not have the correct room. We settle for three people in one king bed... not really a good option. We did not receive a free breakfast as described.

Causeway 353 is a good hotel and well located. The only thing that lets it down are its archaic and excruciating check in/check out procedures. On check in they demand your card (and I mean demand). No, I’m using my phone. That threw them (welcome to 2024). I’ve stayed here before and they take your card and manually copy down the number. How’s that going to help anyone, except scam artists? So, no I wouldn’t give them a card number. Then there’s a $100 bond deposit as a separate transaction. Who does that anymore? Causeway.does. On checkout we had to go through the laborious refund of the bond. Part of the process includes me waiting patiently while the clerk goes and does an inspection of the room. Seriously? That over there was a problem as I didn’t have to hand the original receipt for the bond. Eventually I found it and a refund was made. As I said, nicely located and convenient but for goodness sake, move into the 21st century.

Close to malls, department stores, trams, theatres. Hotel is in a buzzing lane during day but at night its scarily empty of all food shops but you only have to walk (sprint?) for a few seconds in dark to get to hotel from either end of Equitable Lane. I liked my comfortable hotel room. Free hotel slippers. Staff were kind.

Great location and friendly staff. Did take advantage of the Thai restaurant in the basement, really convenient. 3 lifts meant we could call them very quickly. Bed was huge and really comfortable. Would recommend the bagel shop a few doors down.

The location of this property is excellent for transportation, being near everything that people would want to do in Melbourne. Staff was delightful readily helped me. I loved my room. I even got a large bathtub which was great for me. And they have a small gym. They have a restaurant. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I would recommend it all.

Outstanding location. Tram stops outside and 5 minutes walk to Flinders St station. Countless cafes and restaurants more or less at your doorstep. Room was quiet, block out curtains let us sleep in, it was great. I've stayed here before and I'll definitely be staying again.

Hotel situated near the city centre. It is in a side street that appears strange but becomes quite busy as the various cafes and restaurants open. Great meals available just outside the hotel. Well worth a visit. You will stay there again if you get to return to Melbourne. Also, all trams are free within the centre area of the city and it's only a 15 minute walk from the hotel to some really good restaurants situated along the Yarrow river.

Great checkin. The location is so central with nearby cafes and a basement Thai restaurant is handy. View is of an old building though and rooms are tiring. Felt safe with good service at Reception holding my bag.

Jug was rusty inside so couldn’t use but it’s Melbourne do plenty of coffee options! More than 2 towels would be good. Loved the convenient location and the Thai restaurant below was amazing!

Fantastic Location, perfect for a girls night in town, booked the room with 3 King singles. The Thai resturant in the basement was a tasty and good value. Parked at the Galleria - 131 Elizabeth Street, which was a 2 minute walk. Would book again

This is probably the best value for money hotel I’ve stayed in. The bed was comfortable enough, room quiet and clean. I really can’t fault it. Plus I got one of the best coffee’s of my life at Louis (next door).

My third time staying here. Central to everything, Burke st mall, Flinders St Station, Little Collins St tram stop direct to Southern Cross Station. The hotel is clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly, check in and out were easy. As the entrance is down a lane way, once you walk out the door, cafes and small restaurants greet you for your morning coffee, breakfast, snacks etc. Laneway is quiet at night and very safe therefore minimal outside noise.
