My room was newly renovated and great! The location in the Center of the cutest part of Old Town Scottsdale is awesome! Note, however: This hotel is under a major renovation, which looks very promising but no pool or lobby is available currently until Jan 2026 from my understanding. For my sleeping purposes it was totally good.

I liked this place, the website showed the main pool was under construction. When we got there..no restaurant, no pool, no lobby due to construction and a flood due to recent rain. I dug the vibe and staff was very helpful and friendly. Id definitely give it another shot once construction is over. Very great location for walking around old town!

Well the website states the pool was closed but didnt mention the hot tub being closed as well and the bed was broken which made for a very uncomfortable nights sleep. Over all the place was mediocre at best expected more due to location

Didn’t know that your hotel was going through a remodel so I believe 2/3 of the hotel was closed but parking lot full of stuff from the rooms and front desk was removed restaurants everything that’s gone, but I heard that Hyatt now has it so they’ll turn it all around

Staff who checked us in and out were very nice. They didn’t tell us there was a $15.00 a day parking when we checked in, it wasn’t until the next day my husband saw all the cars with passes. I knew the hotel was under construction, but the room had a weird smell, the furniture was old. The mini fridge was on the floor. It was walking distance to food and cute shops though. The staff was the best quality.

Place appears to be under a remodel, pool is inaccessible, elevator reeked of weed and it is filthy. Rooms are dated with mismatched furniture and pillow cases stuffed with sheets for pillows. Tiny fridge on floor where you literally have to crawl down onto floor to access the compartments in it. Tried to use coffee maker but it was inoperable and when I went to lobby and asked if they had complimentary coffee I was told NO. Place runs like a resort on a Motel 6 budget.

The room was filthy. The mattress was far beyond worn out. The so called handicap accessible bath had very slick tile throughout. The water from the shower ran freely across the floor. It is very unsafe. The holder for the shower head is broken.

It’s not a 3***hotel, it’s more like a 2** glorified hotel. No elevators available, so get ready to carry your luggages on the stairs. Of course, there is no coffee available, so get ready to spend good money on that as well. The room was clean, but they forgot to take care of the balcony, which was filthy. The view is awesome though!

Rooms dirty floors had toenails on them not cleaned at all bathroom had mildew on tile grout fan was so noisy and is so clogged with dirt it was un effective paint peeling shower had no pressure and was leaking I bought the package through Orbitz and they tried to charge me extra for parking I complained about it they said they would refund me but never got an email stating the refund. Coffee shop is posted opens at 6 no one was there many days till after 7 furniture was in rough shape old and peeling very limited no water available unless you go to water machine by ice machine and that is so disgusting and hasn't been cleaned or serviced in months the nozzles are so dirty. Overall I would never stay there again. Forget about no security and people coming in making very loud outbursts at 2 3 Up to 530 in the morning. i would not recommend this place if you want a good experience I will be staying across the street next year at the Hilton

The hotel is old. The odd thing is there are no phones in the rooms. The room has old furniture. The bed is nice. The pillows are fluffy. The refridgerator is on the floor with the coffee pot on top. Its not a bad room juat not fancy. They charge a $100 incidental for each room.

Loved the location of this hotel, but it is party central during the weekends! Very loud and crowded at the pool and loud room parties all night. Our AC unit was also extremely noisy. The lounge chairs at the pool were very uncomfortable and falling apart with no chairs at all at the “quiet pool”. Unless you’re headed to Scottsdale to party day and night, I would stay elsewhere.

i booked a pool view room but when i get to my room all i can see is trees can’t even see the pool. Also the patio was dirty and have leaves etc. That’s already a bad way to start my vacation.

Got the king suits for 4 people. The pull out couch was unsleepable. The shower never had hot water. All the pool chiars where terrible. All the pool mats and cushiona were so dirty!!!! Dont upgrade for a pool view its just super loud!!! Would never stay here again

First of all, the entire hotel was in the process of a remodel, which makes sense as the room was dated badly. The lack of standard sized pillows on a king size bed was apparent as we had (4) pillows that were smaller than throw pillows and they offered no support. We asked the front desk person for some standard pillows or even extra little pillows and she acted like she couldn’t do anything as housekeeping was gone for the day and she states she didn’t have a key to the room. Very odd response. The lack of basic amenities like usb ports anywhere in the room to charge our phones was frustrating as well, thank God we had our charger adapters so we wouldn’t be helpless. The bathroom is super small and the lack of fan in the restroom along with the sliding barn door for the bathroom with no lock left no privacy. The king sized bed was super low and the mattress offered little support either as it sunk in the middle. The elevator was very creaky like it needed WD40 badly. If I hadn’t looked outside my window, I wouldn’t have thought we were in Old Scottsdale! Very disappointing and frustrating that there was no mention on the Hotels.com website that the entire property was under construction, for goodness sake, check in was a big meeting room where a little desk was set up. Do better Hotels.com!!!!

Reservation that was made was completely messed up upon arrival.. the front desk attendant Evelyn was absolutely horrible, rude, very passive aggressive and confrontational with guest because of lack of communication between the staff.. her service would make any individual never visit this hotel again.

The Monarch scammed us and DOUBLE CHARGED us for our stay. When we arrived the front desk employee told us that he couldn’t pull us the Expedia reservation and we would have to book direct with the hotel. Having my bag in hand I had little choice in the matter. He ASSURED us that it would be no problem at all getting Expedia to refund the charge on their end. Expedia is horrible to contact and makes it extremely difficult to reach anyone. I was able to file the complaint and Expedia messaged me over the course or 3 days stating that the Monarch wouldn’t return their request to verify our stay. The Monarch scammed us and DOUBLE CHARGED us for our stay. When we arrived the front desk employee told us that he couldn’t pull us the Expedia reservation and we would have to book direct with the hotel. Having my bag in hand I had little choice in the matter. He ASSURED us that it would be no problem at all getting Expedia to refund the charge on their end. Expedia is horrible to contact and makes it extremely difficult to reach anyone. I was able to file the complaint and Expedia messaged me over the course or 3 days stating that the Monarch wouldn’t return their request to verify our stay. Staff who checked us in and out were very nice. They didn’t tell us there was a $15.00 a day parking when we checked in, it wasn’t until the next day my husband saw all the cars with passes. I knew the hotel was under construction, but the room had a weird smell, the furniture was old. The mini fridge was on the floor. It was walking distance to food and cute shops though. The staff was the best quality.

We had to move rooms....were moved to one across the property and the maintenance man actually went above and beyond and loaded our cart andn brought it over for us. No restaurant open, no bar tender, several other issues with no staff available, but overall we made the best of it.

Very rude and unhelpful front desk service before and during check-in. The band playing poolside was horrible, too loud and drove us away from the pool only to be heard just as loud in our hotel room due in part to the 1/2 inch gap all around the exterior door in which we could see daylight and street lights at night. Save your money and book elsewhere.

Wasn’t planning on staying in a hotel on my solo trip as I was staying with a friend but it didn’t work out. I was able to get early check in, pool view, they were very accommodating and great customer service. The food in the restaurant was very good! Love how close it is to old town and all the shops

The staff were friendly, but the 1st room we were assigned was on the 3rd floor and the elevator wasn't working, so we had to return to reception and get a 1st floor room. The room didn't have any luggage racks, there was only 1 chair in the room. Then in the evening our toliet was plugged. They don't have phones in the room, so you have to call via your cell phone and the front desk didn't answer so we have to walk over and let them know about the toilet issue. Luckly there was a maintenance person on call and he was able to unplug the toilet. The small bar/restaurant left a lot to be desired. At least the Monarch is located in the center of Oldtown Scottsdale and there were wonderful restaurants to choose from.

You can't get a better location for spring training, because it's an easy walk to the stadium and also steps from Old Town. The pool and hot tub areas were nice, though the chaise lounges were extremely uncomfortable unless you padded the bar going across with a towel. There was a nice cafe. Apparently it is being torn down or renovated according to a permit application sign in front. It's a shame, every affordable hotel we've stayed at in Scottsdale undergoes "rennovation" and triples the price, and I expect the same will happen here, too.

The Monarch is an affordable hotel located right in the heart of Oldtown. The main pool/hot tub area is lovely with lush greenery and a lively outdoor bar on site. The guest rooms were clean and functional, but a bit outdated. The wall mounted TV was very small & looked like a computer monitor. The outdoor balcony was a nice feature, but an awkward shape...not enough space for patio furniture (or even a chair to sit down). So guests can only stand up on the balcony to enjoy the view.

This property was a pleasant surprise and I wish that I had the chance to enjoy the amenities more. Rooms are a little noisy and I wasn’t expecting outdoor access. I could hear a lot of activity and the ice machine was out one day and it was a scorching summer day. The restaurant and coffee bar were great—wonderful bartender!

The hotel was centrally located. Walkable to old town with lots of restaurants options nearby. Pool was great, wish you didn’t have to walk to the lobby to grab a drink during the week. The property, lobby, pool area, and gym were well kept. The bathroom in the room needs love, along with the towels. Not very clean and not up to par with the vibe the hotel gives off.

Place appears to be under a remodel, pool is inaccessible, elevator reeked of weed and it is filthy. Rooms are dated with mismatched furniture and pillow cases stuffed with sheets for pillows. Tiny fridge on floor where you literally have to crawl down onto floor to access the compartments in it. Tried to use coffee maker but it was inoperable and when I went to lobby and asked if they had complimentary coffee I was told NO. Place runs like a resort on a Motel 6 budget.

The experience at the pool was bad, I called asking if they serve food by the pool and the front desk said yes. We didn’t eat outside so we headed to the pool when we were there the bartender said everything was closed already. We were starving. So I didn’t enjoy the time in the pool.

I had a great experience staying at Hotel Solaya in Scottsdale! The location is one of the best parts of the hotel — it’s right in Old Town Scottsdale, so there are tons of restaurants, bars, shopping, and things to do within walking distance. Very clean and the amenities were also really good!

Hotel is quite large and spread out- there are some signs of age here & there but overall pretty good, The pool was very dirty the first day there but they cleaned it the next day so much better. All the staff at the pool were great- service for drinks & food was very good. The food at the poolside was very good as well. All in all a nice place, with a few touch ups here & there.
