We had a lovely weekend at the Pheasant with friends. Our room was really nice, large enough with a massive bathroom (in the main hotel). The food was excellent, some really different items on the menu and breakfast was fresh and quickly delivered. The only reason i have not given 5 stars is they were understaffed. The staff were lovely but really busy. There was no one serving in the bar on the Sunday and tables were not cleaned. I felt sorry as the staff that were there worked really hard and they were great. Also, car parking was a bit manic. But a great weekend and we will be back.

This was a beautiful traditional country inn with nice furnishings, quality bedding and modern bathrooms. The food was excellent and plenty of little rooms in the bar area to relax in and a lovely lawned/beer garden to sit out. We didnt bring dogs but lots did and they all seemed very welcome and accomodated for. Definitely would go back!

The location was perfect, a very welcoming atmosphere in all areas, lots of banter with the staff who were all amazing. The breakfast was first class as were our evening meals. Beautiful outdoor area, grounds kept to a high standard. Looking forward to returning.

Rooms very clean and well presented and has loads of character. Food was excellent in the bar. Stay was very reasonably priced and when we're in the area again, then this is where we will stay.

Fabulous place to stay the staff were all very friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and immaculately clean, facilities in the room were everything you could need, even an umbrella. The only suggestion if would make, and I don’t even know if it would be possible is maybe some sort of insect netting at the windows, it was very warm during our stay, the fan was a great help, but didn’t open the windows because of the midges and green flies

We thought the rooms are clean and of a high standard, good bedding and showers that worked efficiently. Loved having dogs around, all well behaved and adds to the friendliness. Staff very efficient and keen to please. Will stay again, lovely garden and smartly kept grounds.

This was our second stay at The Pheasant Inn and we were not disappointed. The rooms are wonderfully maintained & warm all year round, the staff are extremely friendly & accommodating (allowing us to store our bikes indoors) & the food is amazing! There is so much to see and do in the area we will definitely be back in the new year too.

Nice hotel and lovely staff but we had booked a superior room and got room 14. This was unfortunately right over the kitchen so the kitchen fan noise was loud until 11pm then started again at 6.50am. We totally get that this is necessary to run the kitchen but this should be warned at time of booking and not be charged as a superior room.

A beautiful old Inn with a lovley snug bar and restaurant. The evening meal we had was fantastic and the breakfast the same. The room was fine, albeit very small despite booking a "superior" room which I don't believe we got. However the noise levels were terrible. Our room was close to the kitchen so the extraction ducts and chefs radio carried on until gone 10.30pm which resumed promptly at 6.30am the next morning. The chef did turn the radio down after we complained for a second time, during which the bar staff gave us her sympathy as she on occassion "had" to stay in that room when nothing else was available so understood how we felt!! I wouldn't stay there again without a guarantee of different room in another part of the building.

Overall, a lovely stay at The Pheasant Inn. The wait/bar staff were especially lovely - friendly and cheerful. The bed was enormous and so comfy - and the food was fantastic. Some of the best pub food we’ve had in ages. We walked to The Lakes Distillery (a bit muddy at this time of year, but lots of fun) - and it’s perfectly positioned to explore both Cockermouth and Keswick by car.

It was a very nice hotel but the room I had was very small and there wasn't a decent sized mirror so I could check my outfit before I left the room. Also as all meals had to be ordered at the bar this sometimes delayed service if staff were occupied elsewhere. I'm sorry but as a single visitor I didn't feel included. However the food was good.

We had the most amazing stay at The Pheasant Inn. Stuart, Alison, Christine & all the staff made our week away perfect. Nothing was too much trouble & everyone was so friendly. The food was beautiful & piping hot just as we like it. We are definitely going to return to the Lake District & we will definitely be staying at The Pheasant Inn. Thank you so very much to all the staff & we hope to see you very soon.

When I arrived to check in the receptionist was talking to another member of staff complaining about the Inn Collection Group and continued to do so for at least 3 minutes despite me trying to gain her attention. My request to dine had not been received and when we came down to dinner the staff member who was going to take us to our table left us whilst she chatted to a friend who was sitting at the bar. When our food came it was virtually plonked on our table. The final straw was when I came to check out the receptionist who took my payment by card on arrival had not recorded it and I was asked to pay again. Thankfully I had a copy of my card receipt. Also there was a definite undercurrent amongst staff that they were unhappy with their employer.

Disappointed in general. We were staying at the hotel for a wedding nearby. We did enquire about checking in an hour earlier due to the timing of the wedding but was advised there’d be a £25 charge. We subsequently checked in after the wedding at about 4pm and then arrived back at the hotel at just after 11pm to be told we couldn’t get a drink from the bar, unusual when you’re a resident in a hotel. In the morning checkout was 10.30 so we felt the value and service wasn’t great. The staff at breakfast were not particularly interested and it felt like we were just in the way of them doing their jobs. We stay in a few hotels and this is our opinion based on comparison and experience. I think more is needed to offer value for money.

We stayed at The Pheasant Inn for one night enroute to Glasgow. Checking in they struggled to find our reservation but once found, the room we had was generous and absolutely lovely. We booked then for an evening meal. When we came down it was all totally disorganised. Drinks and meals had to be ordered from the bar accompanied with a table number (not a room number!) the problem was that we had got moved table 4 times before we eventually had our meal! Locals in were complaining that they couldn’t book a table to eat and when they arrived there was so much confusion going on and the fact that you had to queue up to place your order was terrible!! We have stayed at Inn Collection Hotels before and they have been superb - this one was totally let down by their restaurant and meal service in the evening. The food, once ordered, arrived very quickly and was piping hot but was pretty average. Breakfast was fine but once again, we had to order the food at the bar! The staff were actually very pleasant but no one was overseeing the management of the place!

Overall, a lovely stay at The Pheasant Inn. The wait/bar staff were especially lovely - friendly and cheerful. The bed was enormous and so comfy - and the food was fantastic. Some of the best pub food we’ve had in ages. We walked to The Lakes Distillery (a bit muddy at this time of year, but lots of fun) - and it’s perfectly positioned to explore both Cockermouth and Keswick by car.

Very quiet, cozy & comfortable Inn. Although located in a remote area of Lake District, easy to find & can reach other spots easily. Must try the dinner at the restaurant which is very good with reasonable price. Only the towel rack in my room is not working which is a minor stuff. Furthermore everything in the breakfast seems overcooked.

Nice hotel, we have stayed with the ICG previously and enjoyed it. This hotel was equally pleasant. Nice room and good breakfast. We were able to get some nice walks in from the doorstep, which is always good.

Characterful pub with rooms with dog friendly and dog free areas. Quaint old bar plus various other bar/restaurant areas and a nice garden. Big clean and quiet room with a huge and powerful shower (number 8). Food good for evening meals and a decent breakfast selection was included in the price we paid. Good location for exploring the Lake District.

This is a great place to stay with access to great fell walks right on the doorstep of the hotel. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic. The only complaint we had was ordering food for dinner was chaotic... Long queues of around 20 minutes to order at a single till! A problem that could easily be solved if they offered table service.

It was OK, but you should think more ‘pub’ than ‘hotel’. I have eaten here several times, including before the major refurbishment of a few years ago, and the food offering and service seems to have gone down in recent months. The staff were not as ‘on it’ as previously (for example, starter and main course arriving at the same time) and apart from the nice breakfast, the food wasn’t very exciting or of great quality. This was my first overnight stay and the room was OK.

This was our second stay at The Pheasant Inn and we were not disappointed. The rooms are wonderfully maintained & warm all year round, the staff are extremely friendly & accommodating (allowing us to store our bikes indoors) & the food is amazing! There is so much to see and do in the area we will definitely be back in the new year too.

This was a real jewel to come across. Lovely location; plenty of parking; warm welcome and generally friendly & helpful staff; good quality menu; spacious & comfortable room. A little pricier than I would normally pay but good value for money. I would certainly stay here again.

Lovely quiet location Very comfy bed .. nice shower room ( although small & without a window) The staff were helpful & polite We enjoyed our evening meal. But felt the quality of the breakfast wasnt great ! Just to note: the hotel allows dogs and couldnt guarantee us a dog free bedroom ! (Dont really want to stay in a room where other guests have had dogs)
