The Upper Pass Lodge

The good: friendly and helpful staff, very pet friendly, good food at the restaurant, well stocked gift/snack shop, comfortable lounge/bar. The bad: this place is in need of renovations. Cracks and holes in walls, old TVs, steep stairs, no elevator.

We loved the Upper Pass Lodge! It is the perfect place to stay when skiing Magic and we loved the low key, old school, family friendly vibe. The lounge area with a huge fireplace and lots of games and big couches was so inviting and relaxing. We had a blast and loved the food at the restaurant too. Staffing was quite low and often difficult to find (I guess there are set times when they are there), but when we did see someone at the desk etc they were wonderful and so kind and helpful! No fridge in the room but we just used our cooler and kept ice packs in our car which was always accessible. Random suggestion- hooks needed in the bathroom for towels!:)

Stayed in economy room. Knees hit the wall when using toilet, shower curtain too short for shower. Musty smelling entranceway. Bar, food and staff exceptional! Rundown buildings across street. Clean pool. Needs some updating and roof , soffit repairs. Business is run very well but building needs alot of work.

It didn't bother me at all, but there are only steep stairs, no elevator, so people with mobility issues might have a problem. My elderly mom did it, but it was challenging. I'm still getting used to travel with mobility concerns, so this was my planning issue, not the hotels problem, just giving others a heads up. The room was stark and outdated which made it feel shabby and not so clean. The carpeting was gross and there were stains and marks all over the walls in in the bathroom and mildew in the bathroom over the shower. The ac did not work, luckily the windows opened for some air flow. There was an old tube tv which we got a kick out of. I'm not a fussy person, but I was really disappointed in the room.

Its the prime spot to stay if you are skiing Magic Mtn..2min walk from base of mtn..only reason why i didnt give 5stars was because the parking wasnt plowed and i got stuck..other wise id stay there again..

friendly person, cute first floor. overall run down facility. Room was tiny and the wall air conditioning didnt work. IIt was 85 in there when we went in. They didnot mention the standalone cooling unit in the wardrobe area... The pool was green-ish and very cold. In a pinch it's fine but I would not choose to visit again

Checked in about 730pm. Didn’t utilize the bar or restaurant but they seemed nice. The pool that is seen on the side is very small but I’m sure it would be a nice dip to take on a warm evening. The double bed room was pretty spacious.

The stairs were narrow and steep. The rooms were clean and comfortable. You had to buy breakfast but it was well worth it!! The cost was very affordable and the food was delicious. The staff was always willing to assist in anyway.

Great spot in Londonderry. Not super fancy but serves its purpose. Vince is great. Restaurant on site is very good & nice little pool. Not much around and parking lot desperately needs to be paved but enjoyed our stay.

The room was clean and pretty quiet and the bed was comfortable... I would have liked to have had a small refrigerator AND a microwave.. :(

We had an excellent off-season stay here. The staff are all super friendly and accommodating. The rooms were exceptionally clean, spacious, with very comfortable beds. The whole property is friendly to dogs on leashes(except possibly inside The Red Slate Restaurant). We stayed for 2 nights and had a wonderful time exploring nearby Manchester, Londonderry, and Dorset. The Red Slate had an excellent menu and we ate there for 2 dinners and breakfasts (reservations on Open Table Suggested). The bar features all Vermont made beer, wine, and liquor, with inventive cocktails. We would highly recommend! Please note that during the off-season A/C was not available in our room, the outdoor pool was closed, the only access to 2nd floor is via stairs, and the room interior was slightly outdated. These things did not negatively effect our trip in any way. Will definitely stay here again. :)

Pros: Friendly staff, beautiful location and grounds, great price, very roomy suites, very pet friendly with low pet fees. Vince and staff's hospitality are a huge plus! Cons: No minifridge or microwave in rooms, no air conditioning in the fall (room was warm on arrival in late September and no air conditioning or fan was available in room). Opening windows helped eventually, but then I had to listen to a construction worker talking loudly at his car directly outside my window for over an hour in the late afternoon. Only option for peace and quiet was to close the windows and endure the heat. Food options are also limited here, with no breakfast available onsite, although some snack bars and coffee were provided, which were appreciated! Dinner at the Red Slate was good, but breakfast and lunch options in the Londonderry area are limited. One minor pet peeve: I realize this is a rural area, possibly with scavenging bears/raccoons nearby, but some sort of disposal container for pet waste would be appreciated. I spend an unnecessary amount of time trying to find someplace to dispose of my dog waste bag at night. The next day I was finally able to learn out how to open the dumpster in the back to dispose of my dogs' waste. Not only that, even inside the lodge there is nowhere I found to dispose of room garbage, unless I missed it.

I always stay at the Upper Pass Lodge when I'm in the area. The rooms are large, clean and quiet, and the restaurant is great. A nice friendly vibe and great location.

We were traveling to Vermont for the first time for a girl's trip and to the Vermont Country Store and to celebrate a birthday. Found this hotel at Magic Mountain and by the looks of the pictures online as well as the distance to the store, decided on this venue for the first part of our trip. Couldn't wait to leave and did so first thing the next morning. The rooms are very old and don't smell good. Bathroom and shower were dirty, rug was so dirty in the room that my socks were gross from walking on them. There was no refrigerator, no microwave. Heating was antique and pipes pounded ALL night long, were didn't get much sleep. There was so much snow and solid ice between our car and the door that it was dangerous to even walk. Our door didn't lock, hotel staff had to show us how to lift the door up from the floor to get it to even close. We were told restaurant and bar opened at 5. We went down about 5:30 or so, sat at a table, and were asked to leave because we didn't have a reservation. Mind you, only two tables were occupied! No one told us we needed reservations. So we went to put our name on the list and there was an hour and a half wait! We left without dinner. This property is certainly not a $300 per night stay, it is way over priced and way over rated. I would not recommend at all. At 7am, we were packed back up and got out of there.

The staff were very friendly. The metal drain in the tub was bent up. The tub looked dirty. The room smelled moldy and damp.

The place smelled disgusting. Just walking in the front door, it smelled like urine and mildew. My room smelled so mildewy I had to sleep with the window open. It was obvious by the ceiling dust on the toilet paper holder and shampoo bottles, that the room hadn't been used in a while. The whole place needs to have the carpets removed and have a serious overhaul. So, so bad.

I was so impressed with our room - both the size and cleanliness - in addition to the pet-friendly policy that didn't charge extra for having them along. There was no fridge or microwave in the room or common areas, but the front desk person was so kind to heat up our food each morning. Everything was wonderful... except for the sound issues. The heating pipes clang loudly and, though I am used to this in many places I've lived, it was unusually loud. A bit like construction. We had a heat pump that I had to shut off at night because the compressor made a constant, faint car alarm sound. What was hardest for me was the lack of soundproofing between the lower and upper levels. Our last night there, people checked in above and I could hear them when they talked (very loudly), walked, and even when they shifted in bed (which made squeaking sounds). Sleep was difficult. If they could mitigate the noise issues, it would be a great place to stay again.

Perfect location to ski in magic Mountain. But this place is old, outdated with old tv in the room and no refrigerator or microwave. Very noisy from the kids outside. If you are family with kids and desperately need place to stay that’s the right choice

Very noisy. Room does not have good sound insulation. Staff is not supportive. Not recommand.

The room had no side tables by the bed. There was no microwave or fridge in the room.

The hotel is very old and the rooms are not well maintained and very shabby. Hot water in the shower went on and off. The only good thing is the cozy restaurant/bar and shared space.

Small town feeling which was perfect. The room was nice, and spacious. Unfortunately no refrigerator, but it did have a small coffee maker and microwave. The spa tub was a little wonky, wouldn’t hold water. We improvised and stuffed towels around the drain so we could still enjoy it. The water temperature in the spa tub and shower was very unpredictable, extremely hot or extremely cold and inconsistent. The bed was huge, I liked the firmness of the bed, however hubby was not a fan. A bit outdated on the decor, however the antique feeling of the unique windows was definitely cool! The staff were friendly, but not very educated on the experience of being there. We also chose to go to a different restaurant from the one in the building as it seemed run down and not very busy for a Friday night. Overall, a pleasant experience just average.

The only problem was the quite non-transparent after-hours check-in procedure. The first time I was sent the link to the OpenKey app, my phone number hadn't even been put into the system, so OpenKey couldn't find my reservation. Then when I was sent a check-in message again (on the day of my reservation), there wasn't enough information about the OpenKey check-in process. I tried to use OpenKey on my phone on the outside door of my room, and it didn't work. Lucky that I thought to try OpenKey on the front desk entrance! But then OpenKey didn't work on my hallway room door either. Lucky that my roommate thought to look behind the front desk and found a key card envelope left for us! None of this crucial information was provided in any of the check-in messages or via the OpenKey app. Other than the rather alarming check-in confusion late at night with no human contact or back-up check-in support, the stay was just fine. The room was quiet, comfortable and well maintained. But on leaving the next morning, we had to track down someone in the attached restaurant to confirm that we couldn't lock either of the room doors on departure, and had to drop our room key cards into an unsecured box. So anybody could have just walked into our room after we'd left, and by default we might be held responsible for any damage they did? Not reassuring! Re-think the room access and security issues to be a bit more user-friendly, and I'll be happy to visit again.

The staff was amazing and were so kind to take such good care of us despite their own hardships when their well went dry. They went above and beyond for all their guests that weekend! A gem of a place.

Vince was an excellent innkeeper and deserves a raise for going the extra mile consistently. I even noticed him bouncing around the restaurant to make patrons happy. Food was fantastic, clean room and clean common area. Great staff overall. It’s an old ski lodge so yeah, it’s dated… But it’s clean and that’s more important to me.

Perfect for winter vacation. Just walk at the ski lift, parking is free just infront. A lot of good restaurant nearby. Friendly staff. It’s our second time here and would go back again.

This is a comfortable hotel immediately below Magic Mountain with an easy drive to Stratton and about 30 minutes from Okemo. Good restaurant on site, also a bar and nice common area. Very Vermont. Rooms are no-frills but clean and comfortable. Have stayed here in the past and will again

we are both elderly and did not know we had to climb stairs there are up 5 them turn climb two angled stairs and them 5 more stairs I almost fell they is also no one at the desk during the day and only for a few hours at night will never go they again you take a shower and the water is either so hot or goes ice cold

Orbitz booking says breakfast available but they don’t have any breakfast confirmed by the front desk.

The staff were very friendly and the food from the restaurant was great! The room was dated but clean.

Our stay was great. I have to say wasn't sure at first but it was a great place to stay. The Red Slate Restaurant was awesome. Great fish and chips.

The stay was great! Make sure to make a reservation on open table about a day before if you plan on eating at the restaurant as it's only open a few nights out of the week. The food there was great and fairly priced. The cheese slate was to die for. The televisions are very outdated and emit a high pitched ringing noise which made it unusable for my partner and I. The lounge area is everything you'd want in a cozy vermont cabin. The area was very quiet and made for some of the best sleep i've had recently. Rooms were very clean. Wifi worked well for the most part, less so when a lot of people were using it. The front desk manager was very kind, but seemed to always be running around doing stuff so catch him when you can! Very cute dogs. Thanks for everything!
