Hampton Inn Manhattan/Times Square South

Property very central - felt safe. Breakfast good but space is limited. Ask for a low floor so you can easily utilise stairs as can be waiting for lifts a long time. We would stay again.

Staff was pleasant and very attentive including the breakfast service staff. Management was quick to discuss options and resolved the issue of both elevators being broke at the same time.

Only thing saving this is the Buffett breakfast and the location to Times Square. They need to fix the lift system. I will never stay here again

Great location, great stay and price. Elevators were slow in the mornings and not enough breakfast seating but the free breakfast was worth it.

Location is very good and easy to reach with the subway. Overall the Hotel needs some investments in renovation (painting, carpet, chairs/table breakfast room, etc.) 2 elevators for a 32 floor high hotel is not enough, long waiting time. Space for the breakfast room is too small, sometimes you have to wait 10 minutes or leave without breakfast,

Staff was excellent and helped as much as possible. We had some issues with our door and they helped us right away. We had a smoke smell every time we turned on the fan and there was an inconvenience of the elevators being down the Saturday of our trip.

This hotel is older and in need of an update. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable but the rooms and public spaces were quite small. The staff was also nice when checking in. However the elevators are terrible. There are only 2 and they have a limit of 6 people per elevator. The wait times, especially at busy times, were long. On the first morning of our stay, we got stuck in the elevator. The call button in the elevator didn’t work and there is zero cell service so we couldn’t call anyone to help. It got very warm very quickly. Luckily we were only stuck for about 10 minutes but it was enough to traumatize my daughter. Once it started working, we arrived at the ground floor and one of the staff (presumably the manager) was upset with us because 8 people were in the elevator (people pushed in not seeing the limit sign). He didn’t ask if we were ok, just got mad. We ended up checking out and going to another hotel.

Staff very good Room was ok , not very big Breakfast was really good..enjoyed the cooked food and good selection of others bits and pieces. Only real issue is 2 lifts which where mega busy around 9 am . Had to wait 5-10 minutes as the lift kept coming but was already packed Good location though

Everything was excellent except the elevators. There were 2 for 32 floors. I often walked down for breakfast because the elevators were too full even waiting 20 minutes. Otherwise an excellent hotel.

Elevator has to be upgraded

We arrived at around 12PM, the room wasn’t ready which is fine since the check-in was at 3PM, and the employee told us she was going to contact housekeeping so the room would be ready when we came back. We return to the hotel at 3PM and the room still wasn’t ready and that they were going to contact housekeeping to give our room priority. We wait in the lobby and they still don’t call us, I ask again a half an hour later and the room still wasn’t ready. I ask an hour later, the room still isn’t ready. My parter goes and asks an hour and a half later and the room is magically ready. They gave us a room but never offered us anything for the inconvenience, they were giving everyone small gift bags except for us. We arrive to the door of the room and it didn’t open with one of our cards. As for the room, it had sort of a musty smell to it. Housekeeping came and only fixed the bed and put new towels, no vacuum or anything. The bathroom was dirty. Check-out was easy, we were offered a ride to the airport for a more affordable price than Uber and Lyft, but there was no information about that in the hotel or website. We asked if they had a card or pamphlet but the employee said there wasn’t any, that the service was directly with him. We preferred a more reliable service and we went with Lyft. I never had such a bad experience in a hotel.

Desperately in need of renovation. Room stinky, noisy, shower flooded due to lack of curtain, drain stuck (I finally cleaned it myself), shower hose dripping, A/C had broken switches, TV had poor reception. I could go on with details, but I guess you get the point.

The hotel is in a convenient location and the staff were friendly enough. However, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. The hotel itself is quite small, and breakfast felt chaotic — more of a free-for-all than a relaxed start to the day. The most concerning issue occurred on our first night. After checking in and spending the day exploring New York, we returned to the room only to discover blood on the quilt when getting into bed. This was completely unacceptable and understandably made us feel uncomfortable for the remainder of the trip. It’s a real shame, as this could have been a decent stay, but cleanliness and attention to detail are basic expectations that were not met

Safe area, Clean rooms

Only two small elevators that we spent half an hour or more waiting for. Towels and linens were threadbare and scratchy. Shower door was stuck as the sliding door track seemed rusted.

Stayed at this hotel last night and had a horrible experience when we first arrived, the room smelled like dirty wet, laundry, my 10 year-old daughter woke up from her nap she found a blood stain under the sheets. They clearly had not been changed from the previous guest. Upon entering the bathroom, I found a rapper to a pad which clearly means they hadn’t even taken out the trash. The staff was OK. It came right up and changed the bedding the next morning when I went to the front desk to check out and let them know how disappointed I was I was given a half ass solution. not only why I never return to this hotel but I would recommend everyone not to as well.

Awful hotel dirty and shabby. Our first room we got i pulled out the sofa bed for the kids abd it was soaked in urine and faeces and dirt. Compelty wet. The room smelt so bad. I was horrified and went straight to receptions. We got a new room. Also unclean but didnt have choice. Breakfast not good. All single use cutlery and plates no eco considerations at all. The worst hotel ive stayed in new york. Pictures make it look so much nicer. More like a hostel. So run down.

Excellent, friendly staff; especially the hard-working cleaners and service workers. Room a little small, but very clean and met all our needs. Lovely shower! Breakfast was a welcome plus and good coffee. All the plastic (cups, cutlery, etc.) was a bit concerning but is hopefully recycled. Being so centrally located was the best thing and we would not hesitate to stay here again. 6 minute walk to big subway/bus station. I felt safe and had no issues the whole stay. PS, the daily fresh cookies were a great idea and wonderful treat! :)

we had a cockroach in our bedroom and the elevators were broken. we had to walk up 32 flights of stairs because the elevators were broken/not working. that being said the service and staff were sooooo friendly so if you don’t mind that other stuff too much the service definitely makes up for it

Very small room for quadruple..and need refurbishment the bathroom at least

The room always very very small. The pictures look very different. We had to keep our luggage in the closet bc there was no space to even put them on the ground. We had to walk in a single filed line and turn to the side to walk. ANYWHERE in the room it was kinda ridiculous.

Staff are pleasant, the only concern is the mattress you can hear the spring and the base of the bed makes noise. But all is ok.

Our room needed some TLC. TV was very fuzzy, bed was coming apart around the bottom and carpet floor tiles were lifting.

This hotel is a perfect location for a 2-day mid-week getaway. The rooms are rather small for two people and a few adjustments could be made to the room itself -- more hangers in closet, sturdier plug-ins for electronics, couldn't turn on tv (though we wouldn't have watched it anyway), move bathroom mirror up an inch or two bc impossible to use the faucet without hitting the bottom of the mirror. Those are the only negatives. The staff was all super friendly and efficient. Front desk girl very accommodating when we arrived early. Not only is breakfast hot, fresh and tasty, but staff makes and serves waffles direct to your table. Lots of little amenities like coffee, tea and cookies in lobby make it feel homey. And decent price (under $500/night) was what we were expecting.

Water pressure was almost nonexistent on the 20th floor.

**A Hidden Gem in the Heart of NYC!** The Hampton Inn Manhattan is truly a treasure in the middle of New York City. From the moment we checked in to the moment we left, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. Both the team members who handled our check-in and check-out were professional, friendly, and demonstrated outstanding customer service. A special shoutout to the gentleman managing breakfast on the morning of the 12th—his cheerful attitude and attentiveness stood out. He made sure everyone felt welcome and got exactly what they needed. This kind of service makes a stay memorable. Highly recommended!

I'm not one to normally leave reviews, but my experience at the Hampton Inn Times Square South was very unsatisfactory. I was awoken around 7am on my first day by someone pounding on my door and yelling at me to come downstairs immediately. They claimed the room did not belong to me and I needed to come to the lobby. This was terrifying. I couldn't tell if it was actually an employee so I refused to open the door for safety reasons. I called the front desk a multitude of times while this was happening to confirm the person actually worked for the hotel, but no one answered. After an hour of them yelling at me and threatening to call the police, I gave them my ID and they went downstairs. Sure enough, the room did indeed belong to me. The whole experience made me feel very unsafe and it was completely unwarranted. I checked in at the front desk the day before and received a room key to that exact room, so there should have been no reason they claimed the room wasn't mine. The whole rest of the trip I felt uncomfortable going back to my room out of fear that there would be another similar issue. If I were you, I'd avoid this hotel and look for something else.

The staff and manager were professional, caring, compassionate, and very skillful in dealing with a wide variety of guests. I can say with confidence that this hotel has a first-rate staff who stand far above and beyond the norm.

The staff was incredible!!!! We love them so much. Gabriella is truly a gem, my kids adored her as well. We we definitely be back because the staff is so wonderful. The actual hotel/room was a tad dated but the customer makes up for that.

The breakfast food exceeded our expectations with choices and quality. The rooms are small (we had 2 double beds for 2 adults + 2 children and just fitted in) but the beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed. Others complain of slow elevators but don't let that put you off, it only held us up once at 945am when lots of people were checking out. We waited 9 minutes during this peak time, otherwise in 3 days we had no waiting at all. I would stay there again. Convenient location, easy walk to various subway/train stations and good value for money (for NYC that is!)

It was ok. The clothes iron didn’t work and I had an 8pm appointment. I called the front desk and requested one after 7. I ended up being late trying to wait for it…still hadn’t arrived when I left after 8. After 8:30 maybe 9 when I was already out is when I got a message that one was going to be brought up, I let them know I didn’t need it anymore but someone came and left one on my suitcase anyway.

Awesome and close to everything

Good location, down just off the Main Street and very easy walk to Times Square. Check the hotel address before you go in your cab from the airport - another hotel really close by with the same name and the taxi took us to that one. Had to walk round the corner and saw several people over the course of our stay doing the same walk. Rooms are fine, but not fancy/spacious. Budget accommodation of course so can’t complain with that. Staff were helpful, couldn’t fault them. Breakfast area is small and gets very busy. Have breakfast before 8:30 - we grabbed plates and ate in our room as tables usually full. Pretty good selection of food, couple of hot items, cereal, fruit, bread, yoghurt. The lifts get busy at that time too - we were quicker taking the stairs, but were only 4th floor so not suitable for all. No view from the room sadly(side of another building). Maybe higher floors do but I couldn’t say. Room had a fridge, iron and coffee maker. I’d happily stay again, albeit definitely scope for a good clean and upgrade. Done the job we needed though. :)

I love the location, was close to Times Square, but the zone around seams a bit unsafe wit lots of homeless around and people smoking marihuana on the street

Great location for all the tourist spots. Convenient access to the metro, bus etc. The room was as expected for the price in such a central location, and cleanliness was good. Breakfast was decent and a wonderfully friendly attendant making waffles if you wanted them! Only 2 lifts serving a large number of rooms, so at times the wait could be quite long and frustrating, especially if you were on a higher floor and didn't feel like walking 20+ floors.

Excellent hotel in a great location. Close from Time Square and the Theatre District. Quiet at night (but the noise from the streets might've been drowned out with the a/c noise in the room). Clean room, quick service. We didn't eat breakfast there, but the selections seemed really great just like other Hampton Inn hotels I've stayed at. The dining area seems VERY full though. It would've been hard to find a table for us, if we did want to eat there. The only thing I wasn't too happy about was the elevator service. During the rush hour in the morning, the elevator would come by all full, so we had to wait almost 10 min to be able to get on it. And once we were on the elevator, it would of course stop at every floor even though it was already full because practically everybody is waiting for the elevator to come, so it takes another 5 min or more to get to the ground level. So make sure to have lots of time in the morning to get out of the building...

The dining area is very small and there isn’t enough room for people to eat; the chairs and couches in the lounge were very dirty and should be wipeable not fabric! We often times had to take the stairs because the elevators are very slow and always packed. The location is great for getting to several popular attractions on foot

The hotel has an excellent location. The rooms are small and everything is very old, but they are clean. The restaurant doesn't have enough capacity for all the guests at breakfast time. Special thanks to Mr. César, the excellent waiter. Overall, the hotel is expensive for what it offers, but the service is good.

Nice area, convenient to a lot of different places. The hotel was in a safe area. The breakfast was nice- cheese omelets, waffles, sausage some mornings and bacon other mornings, oatmeal, potatoes, and much more. Cesar made you feel like a guest in his personal kitchen helping you find seating and making the waffles to order. He was quite the personality and it was noticeable when he wasn't working that day.

We booked this hotel since it was near Times Square, has a free breakfast and the price is very good. The hotel is located very well with lots of restaurants and shops nearby, the Port Authority is a couple of blocks away and the staff here are so helpful. The manager, Saud is so welcoming and helpful and so efficient. The breakfast is good and Cesar makes you feel special!

Check in and check out were smooth. No delay. The hotel is very centrally located and convenient to everything. We booked a room inc. breakfast and the breakfast was great. Plenty of hot and cold options. Highlight was the freshly cooked waffle and the lovely man who made them for us (unfortunately I didn't ask his name) He greeted everyone in the mornings with a smile. The room and the bathroom were clean. We were very happy with our 4 night stay.
