It’s not perfect, the front desk said my room was remodeled in 1984, but I’d give it 1994. Room was huge, clean and bed was super comfortable. Hot tub in room was fun but shampoo and towels were terrible. Located on free trolly line and the free waffle breakfast were the game changers! I used the pool area three times, it was clean with nice chairs.

Free breakfast with lots of options - waffles w lots of toppings, egg & ham sandwiches,yogurts, fruit, cereals, oatmeals; well equipped gym & nice pool. Super friendly & helpful staff. Completely safe w grounds security. 2 blocks walk to the beach & bicycle/ ebike rentals,walking & bike paths & trails, lots of things to do nearby including the Pier, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, shopping & dining options abound, very friendly community! Ideal spot to base for everything San Clemente & surrounding areas!

This is a very cute place to stay. The courtyard is lovely to eat breakfast or dinner around. The rooms are clean but a bit dated. The shower conditioner was about impossible to get out of the dispenser which slow down my shower considerably. The doors are very hard to swing open. That outside decks need maintenance. The pool and spa were in good condition . The breakfast was average . Otherwise it's a great place to stay. I would recommend it.

Very cute hotel grounds! Due to the weather the pool was freezing, way too cold to go in. The rooms are a bit dated, but super comfortable bed! Great breakfast food! I would recommend it!

Typical 3-star hotel, the room was clean, facility clean but the pool and spa were cloudy indicating not enough chlorine and poor maintenance. In the room jacuzzi tub was nice, balcony views the courtyard (no rooms have ocean views). Parking spaces were tight, but there were ample spaces and there's also an overflow lot next door. Need to drive to local dining spots.

Independent Hotel. Zimmer wirken etwas antiquiert, aber sehr sauber und sinnvoll eingerichtet. Anlage sehr gepflegt. Frühstück ist sehr gut und wird einem zubereitet. Pool und Hottub sauber und gepflegt.

The location was very nice, walkable, close by the ocean and with some convenient cafes and places nearby. Although the weather wasn't conducive the pool and hot tub amenities were nice. Stayed in room 317 king bed which has a balcony with 2 chairs and a table. The room is good size and has a medium size refrigerator ( not a small mini one!), microwave. This room even has a deep bath tub / shower WITH JETS! Downside... it needs A 2ND SAFETY BAR HANDLE! Almost hurt myself getting in & out! Free continental breakfast! Good size pool but jacuzzi is small. One last thing...Parking is Free BUT, VERY TIGHT SPACES!

We were in San Clemente for a wedding that was just across the street from Casablanca Inn, so we booked this hotel for convenience but we were super happy with our stay. Our room was clean and quiet (except the window unit ac going on and off all night but we just kept the fan option on the second night to reduce that noise). The continental breakfast was great. There is a good coffee shop a short walk away that we enjoyed both mornings. The parking is a bit tight but we never had an issue finding a spot. Location is great, short 4 minute drive to downtown/beach area and close to the outlets. We’d happily stay here again if in the area

We slept with ants in our bed and many dead on the floor around the room. We called the front desk and was told we needed to check back in the morning. We also had a rash of ants the next morning all over our car and in the engine compartment we asked the lobby if they had any spray that we could use. I stayed up all night killing ants wondering in my sheets . I also decided since I could Not sleep I would look up some of the reviews and guess what ? This has actually happened to others too 😳 I can say I was at leased pleased with the assistance manger for asking us several time he was surprised that we were not offered a new room when we first called in. I was a little disappointed that once we changed rooms that all they did is cleaned up the room and gave it to someone else immediately with hours .

I normally don't write reviews especially bad ones. I have no problem paying over $300 a night. However, the room smelled really bad and it needed a deep cleaning. This was more like $99 a night situation. The website advertised complementary breakfast, but I didn't see anything but it didn't matter because I left as soon as it was daylight outside.

Dirty upon arrival, pool and hottub were gross and unusable. Picture didn’t even match the room they gave us looked 15 years old when online everything was modern. The room had hair in bathroom and wasn’t cleaned at all. They also charged me an Extra 50 dollars after I left. Really bad experience only postive was the pizza place up the street.

I think there’s an updated portion of this hotel that’s nicer—I unfortunately did not get a room in that part of the building. Hairs in the shower, damp carpet, and very thin walls. The Best Western down the road in Dana Point is nicer for roughly the same price.

The rooms were recently remodeled and quite nice however they did NOT do a good job in sound proofing. We were in. King Deluxe room on the first floor two rooms down from the stairs and near the exterior gate by the pool. We heard EVERYONE walking up and down the stairs, the gate slamming when people went out back and unfortunately had people above us for one night which sounded like Riverdance! We could hear everything from talking to TV to footsteps. The front desk person was nice about it and says he gets this complaint a lot but unfortunately, there were no other deluxe rooms available on an upper floor. The only option was downgrade to a standard room in a separate building, which has not been remodeled. We viewed it, but it was not in good condition at all. Smelled funny and had stained carpet. Some we stayed in our room. Luckily the people above were only there for one night unfortunately they were up early the next morning to leave.

The room was dark and the furniture was old and worn. The shower was great and the bed was comfortable. The balcony was nice. The manager was cold and unfriendly. He never even smiled. We weren't allowed to serve ourselves at breakfast. And menu options were very limited.

Casablanca Inn was in the perfect location as we had an event to attend just down the street. The room was comfortable and the center atria garden was a lovely place to relax. The included breakfast had many good options. The staff was very kind and helpful. The free San Clemente troller stopped right in front of the Inn. A great stay!

Stayed here b4 and loved the upgrade. Was a nice 1 might stay. Front desk was accomodating as we arrived early so they checked us in early in order to make the wedding we were there for, on time.

Our last stay here a couple of years ago was nice. But it is now under new management and it has gotten a bit rundown. When we checked in the lady at the front desk was a bit curt. The air conditioner was smelly and the TV had to be reset by the staff 2X. The telephone did not work, it was missing the cord.My wife complained that the bed made her itch. They had moved us to another room, but it was not much better. The breakfast staff and the breakfast was good. Maintenance staff was also nice.

Stay was good. Front desk did not provide any information about breakfast at check-in. Breakfast attendant was amazing, she was fast and efficient. Breakfast variety was nice and there was a cute patio to enjoy breakfast. I called to ask housekeeping to make up room while we were gone for a few hours but they never came. Room was nice and spacious but sheets had a stain on them. When I called to ask for extra towel the attendant was very fast and friendly. Location of hotel was great, nice walk to the beach.

Service was poor. No manager on duty on weekends. Fresh blood on the sheets. Just wanted a quick getaway to relax on the beach and to grab dinner on a Saturday night. Arrived at 4pm for check-in time. There was a line of 6 people in front of me and only one person working the desk. When it was my turn, my room won’t be available until 5. I was told I could wait by the pool. At 5pm, there were 3 people working the desk and was told housekeeping needed another 20 minutes. Apparently housekeepers didn’t show up and the ones there had cleaned the wrong rooms. Finally at 5:40pm (an hour and 40 minutes after check-in), our room was ready. We missed our dinner reservations and didn’t get to relax on the beach. While the front desk worker gave me a discount, we didn’t get to enjoy the evening as expected. We pivoted to make the most of it. When it was time for bed, I noticed there were drops of blood on the sheets; not old blood that had been through the laundry, but bright red dried blood. I wasn’t bleeding anywhere so it had to be staff who folded the sheets or put the bed together. It was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. We wanted a do not disturb sign, which some doors had, but no one was at the front desk (we waited 5 minutes and gave up) around 9:30 am. We paid extra for two balcony rooms and didn’t get either one. I have contacted the hotel several times to try and get a refund for the extra price and either the phone is busy or goes to their answering service and I never get a phone call back. So I would not recommend them. Mold in the bathrooms, toilets that back up and you have to plunge them and fix them yourself, no room clean up or towel refresh (you can go pick towels at the front desk if you need them), piping in the bathroom that would wake the dead it’s so loud, limited parking, and doors that slam closed in a dangerous manner. I really hope that management read this because something should change at this place. And I think hotels.com should not allow them on their site. They don’t follow through on the rooms that you book and they dodge your calls constantly. Take your money elsewhere, it’s worth it.

Casablanca Inn was in the perfect location as we had an event to attend just down the street. The room was comfortable and the center atria garden was a lovely place to relax. The included breakfast had many good options. The staff was very kind and helpful. The free San Clemente troller stopped right in front of the Inn. A great stay!

This is my go to hotel when staying in San Clemente, easy access from Caltrans station, walking distance to the beach, hiking trails, restaurants, outlets, and nearby free trolley stops to go to the pier, Dana Point, and other points of interest. The staff are also so friendly and nice. Erin, Anthony, and Derrick were so amazing and helpful during my most recent stay.

Breakfast was good, limited but no self serv except for coffee and finger food(bananas muffins, etc. One server to make waffles, prepared breakfast sandwiches and any things that required cooking. We chose this place based online and the price. Price was on the lower end of surrounding hotels. Based on the price, a good value for the money but a bit out of the local hot spots.

Not a bad hotel for a one night stay. It looks like they’ve slapped a little paint on the walls and shampooed the carpets but you can tell it’s an old rundown motel. The breakfast offerings are pretty subpar and junkie. Except for the fruit, which is what I took. Well I also had the avocado toast, which consisted of really mushy avocados on cheap toasted bread. My thought is if you can’t go high end don’t try it at all. And they also have a lady making your food which is counterproductive to why I like to eat breakfast at motels – to be left alone and not have to talk to anyone.

The room was dark and the furniture was old and worn. The shower was great and the bed was comfortable. The balcony was nice. The manager was cold and unfriendly. He never even smiled. We weren't allowed to serve ourselves at breakfast. And menu options were very limited.

As mentioned in many prior reviews, the breakfast staffer was very helpful and pleasant. The Balcony room was clean enough but could really use an update. Breakfast: Instead of frozen egg sandwiches a tray of scrambled eggs and roasted potato’s with bagels, toast, English muffins and cream cheese as options would be a great upgrade! Pool Area: it’s very nice but could just use a bit of organization and tidying up in the morning and afternoon. Resetting the chair backs and lining them up/spacing them out would be really impressive. A cute hotel that could be really great with some attention to detail.

Check-in & out were easy with smiling staff. Hot breakfast was not self-serve, which was nice, although the food served wasn't much to our liking with much too much garlic on the avocado toast, and rubbery waffle. We did appreciate that fresh towels were provided immediately upon request and that no cleaning person was in our room while we were out, so no worries about anyone rummaging through our things. The room was a nice size, beds very comfortable. The Casablanca Inn was conveniently located for our purposes. Covering an outer wall, the mural depicting Bogart and Bergman is a lovely accent to the simple beauty of the building.

Our room said it slept 4 with the upgraded renovated room that had a couch bed but it had no bedding and despite 4 separate calls to the front desk no one ever came. They had no idea on what was in the room and then when we provided information they said they would bring bedding but never showed up and then when I complained nothing was done. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Pros: Nice pool, lovely pool area. The hotel was in a good location. Even though it was facing a major street, the room was quiet thanks to the layout. The interior courtyard was a beautiful place to have a meal. We arrived an hour early and the front desk staff allowed us to check in early. Free parking. Jacuzzi tub was nice. Bed was comfortable. Cons: The room had a faint mildew smell and the carpet was slightly damp. The luggage rack and the light fixture in the bathroom were rusted, indicating that the dampness issue is ongoing. We upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi tub and a balcony, but the balcony just faced the other rooms (not a great view) so we didn't use it. The fitness room was tiny and had no air conditioning or fans, making it unusable. There were ants in the room -- not a ton, but there shouldn't have been any. Overall: I do not recommend upgrading to a more expensive room. Dealing with the dampness, mildew, and ants was not worth the price. Assuming the other rooms have these issues as well, I don't know if I would stay there again.
