Maa Guest House

Our stay at Maa Guest House was an absolute nightmare. We had paid for our room in full months in advance (back in February) and even contacted the property the day before our arrival. They confirmed everything was fine and told us to call upon arrival. When we arrived at the booked property and called, we were met with complete chaos. We were told, "I’m sorry, problem with apartment ." After waiting, a man eventually came down and told us we had to move to a different property on Via Monte Grappa. He drove us there, but the new location had stairs that made it completely inaccessible for me. When we tried to resolve this, a woman started shouting in Italian, followed by a man shouting at me. It was an extremely scary, intimidating, and painful situation. Once we explained that we had no choice but to find somewhere else that could actually accommodate me, the man agreed to a refund and drove off. We never saw him again. My husband then had to walk hotel to hotel searching for a room, but everything was fully booked. We eventually had to book a place out of town via this website. To make matters worse, we were stuck waiting hours for a taxi because drivers kept cancelling, and when one finally arrived, the price was extortionate. Despite the host verbally agreeing to a refund, webinar has rejected our refund request simply because they haven't been able to reach the host. It is completely unacceptable for a property to confirm a booking the day before. Avoid!

We love this place and hope to return! The kind proprietor met us at the train station and helped us with our luggage. The room is about a 5-10 minute walk from the train station; the train ride to and from Rome takes about an hour. Our room was very comfortable and clean, with interesting contemporary art throughout. The view from our window, and from the complex's terrace, has a spectacular view of a fort designed by Michelangelo. The nearby restaurant, run by the same family that runs the guest house, has some of the best food we ate in Italy - and at a fraction of the prices that we paid in Rome! The staff was very kind and friendly. My husband and I agree that this is the best lodging we had on our trip to Italy.

NO IDEA SINCE THIS PROPERTY EVEN THOUGH LISTED AS AVAILABLE, IT WAS NOT! THE GUESTS TURNED UP AND IT WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THEY CONTACED HOTEL.COM AND THE AGENT PUT THE PHONE DOWN ON HIM. TERRIBLE SERVICE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE.
