The property was advertised to have a bbq area but did not. This made having dinner quite a challenge. The rooms were very hot and uncomfortable to sleep in on a hot night. There was a toaster to make breakfast but no plates or cutlery to use with it. The staff were nice people.

The room itself was ok. Needs some updating. Communal kitchen needs an overhaul. Bed was comfy. More facilities in room would be better than communal facilities. Linen and towels were clean. Security of windows was poor and needs addressing. Overall we had a positive stay. Found Te Anau super expensive this was a good budget option.

Room had spiderwebs on stool. Went to make a cup of tea and bottom saucer filthy. Shower over bath and took about 10 min to heat up. We are elderly and didn’t find it very convenient! Toilets not very clean. Grounds looked like they needed a good tidy up. Overall the motels looked they needed pulling down!

Clean beds. Good views, like a step back in time, before the vinyl tiles in the bathroom started breaking up, toilet needed a scrub, hadnt been white for some time. Cheapest place i could find for a one night stay, in at 11.30pm out 5 30am so the bed was the best bit.... oh and the usb charging jack by the bed

Beautiful spot. Very old and dated. Needs a lot of maintenance and cleaning. Advised staff on arrival that there was a pile of dirty crockery and cutlery outside our door and asked them to remove. It didn’t get removed until late the next day. Leaving the little soaps that the previous guests used in the shower might be their version of conserving resources. But no thanks. Bleach wouldn’t go astray in the bath and toilet. But you get what you pay for I guess.

This was a bizarre stay and quite eerie. I’m sure Manapouri thrives in the summer months but it was deserted in August. We arrived with the map taking us to the cafe (which looked as though it was closed down) rather than hotel, upon figuring out where the hotel was our key had been left out the front of reception which was closed. We found our room with no dramas, and whilst it initially appeared well presented, we soon noticed the bathroom was not clean (hair that was not ours on the floor and in the shower), mould in the shower, sand on the chair, and the quilt cover had not been cleaned either - one can only hope the sheets had been washed. The television did not work well either, with stations freezing or not being available at all - this may be due to the location but we were told about this if this is the case. During our time here we did not see a single person, however, did hear traffic pass every so often. Check out was easy, dropping the key off where we picked it up, but for 9am on a Monday morning we would’ve expected to see a staff member and this did not happen. Not worth the money we paid, and whilst the room did the job we would not stay again.

We were very disappointed - the heater didn't work, there was something seriously wrong with the TV - only 1 channel worked, the rest of them were frozen (and were still frozen in exactly the same places the next morning - we have photos), AND it wouldn't accept casting from our devices. Also, there was a lot of black mould in the fridge, the toilet wasn't clean, and the shelf in the bathroom vanity was unusable due to dirt/rust (we also photos of these). Finally, no one answered the cell phone number that was provided, nor the landline, nor any of our texts. We stayed here earlier this year, and enjoyed our stay, which is why we returned, but unless we receive an apology and (at least) a partial refund, and an assurance that this won't happen again, we won't be returning. For some reason they’ve decided to use frosted glass on the doors to the rooms so at 6am your room is as bright as it is outside with no option of covering. I was going to get a coffee from the room to help with being woken up so early but they’ve decided to stock the rooms with plunger coffee, but no plunger. Fortunately the breakfast advertised around the motel inexplicably wasnt on because I can’t imagine that would have been much better. The two people on reception were housekeeping and have seemingly been abandoned by management to deal with the place themselves, so no shade to them personally.

A good stopping point to explore the area from. You could very easily hear noise from adjoining rooms and the wifi was poor. But the staff were helpful and accommodating, providing extra towels, advice about the area etc. Certainly not luxurious, but ok for a night or two.

Eine absolute Absteige. Das man dafür Geld nimmt ist eine absolute Frechheit. Es war dreckig. Duschen war fast unmöglich, weil es absolut keinen Druck auf der Dusche gab. Es ist extrem hellhörig. Zur Ruhe kommt man nicht wenn man Nachbarn hat. Man hört jedes Wort und jeden Toilettengang. Das Bett war furchtbar. Wenn man zu zweit drin liegt rollt man in die mitte. Die Decke ist nur halb von einem Laken umwickelt. Absolut nicht zu empfehlen, nicht mal als Notfall. Das Hotel ist locker 100 Jahre alt. So alt ist auch die Ausstellung und der Teppich .

At first, I was worried because I already booked the property before I even saw the bad reviews. But to my surprise, it wasn’t bad after all. I booked the property on the day of our stay, and was expecting for a late check-in. To our surprise, one of their staff called me and made sure that we can still be able to check-in smoothly even after the check-in time. We enjoyed our stay because our room was clean and our view of the lake is just breathtaking. We will surely gonna come back. Thank you.

Messaged them via expedia asking what's latest check in time, got the reply after 5 days! Booked family room for two adults & 2 kids. They apologised that they have been overbooked and offered me two double rooms instead, luckily my kids old enough to sleep by themselves.

Not as close to Te Anau as I expected, about 25km, but that's my fault. Whilst Te Anau is a pretty tourist place, & Manapouri is not, the view from this accommodation this far better than that available in Te Anau - as it is across a different lake, with a nicer snow capped background. Accommodation itself is a bit tired, but good enough.

It’s funny reading the reviews on here. The place is 2.5 star type place. Basic. Depending on room you get. I stayed in room 404. Two single beds with small bathroom etc. I stayed in summer which seems to be peak season. One thing to be mindful is the whole property faces east or west, so afternoon the sun shines in window s and makes it quite hot but cools down later by 10pm so ok for sleeping. Great view and quiet place. Something different to staying in more popular Te Anau. Good location to drive to various walks in Fiordland national park. It’s 17 min from Te Anau - not many shops around. Just the one bar place ( the church) to get food. But it’s quiet and view is amazing. But I liked it overall

We booked for 2 nights. This was a good location to visit Milford Sound but have a room within easy driving time. Our room had the most amazing view overlooking a lake and mountains. 15 minutes to Te Anau where there were plenty of eating choices.

Location was perfect. Beautiful views over the lake Manapouri. Close to boat for exceptional day cruise to Doubtful Sound. Felt the motel in general was quite run down, needed refurbishment. Gardens need weeding. Restaurant and bar were closed.

Quiet place, pub/restaurant was closed next door and has been for some time. 10minute walk to the Church for good food and drinks. Clean and functional rooms with fridge, microwave, kettle etc. probs a little over priced but it is Te Anau area which was a 20 minute easy drive to the township

This place is very dated and really needs an upgrade. Bed was comfortable, no microwave in the room to do any food. There was a shared kitchen but did not use as didn’t look great. The Church bar and restaurant down the road was brilliant, so worth a visit and want some good food.
