We had a wonderful time at the Aloft in Soho Square. We stayed with our dog, and she had a great time as well. The staff were super friendly, and our dog even got some dog treats. Parking was easy and convenient to the hotel even with being in a life-filled retail district. We enjoyed walks around the neighborhood, and many restaurants were close by. Our room was super quiet at night, and we slept great. Bed was very comfy. Would definitely stay here again.

The rooms are terribly designed and built. The bathroom: the pocket door was dangerously askew and slid out of its mooring each time we opened it. The carpet had stains all over it. The switch for the lights above and on each side of the bed can be controlled from only one side--a real drag if you and your mate fall asleep at different times. There are NO DRAWERS. Anywhere. Instead, there are open shelves--in the BATHROOM. When we arrived I took a clean, damp washcloth to wipe off one of the shelves and it not only came away dirty, but with several hairs on it. The shower: absurd. The pumps on the row of Dry Bar (a fine brand) shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles are located 5 feet, 8 inches above the shower floor. I repeat: 5 feet, 8 inches. Maybe if I was Luka Doncic I could reach those bottles. But at 5'3", it wasn't going to happen. The WXYZ bar in the lobby was well-stocked, and the bartender was a lovely woman, great at her job. But the recorded music there and throughout the lobby drowned out any possibility for conversation, or for hearing a word the desk staff said. Maybe that's because the chump who designed the place never learned that stone and concrete floors and walls do not absorb sound, they REFLECT IT. A short list of the hotels my husband and I have stayed in over the years is close to 75. Aloft Birmingham will long remain in our memories as the most poorly-designed lodging in which we have ever stayed.

Hotel was great - parking very convenient and free. Our room was fine except the handle for bathroom sliding door was broken - the door is very heavy and closing it was next to impossible. We did report the issue to hotel staff.

Very friendly staff from the front desk to housekeeping; The happy hour was a nice touch and the bar was open and the bartender was great! Parking wasn't bad because we were able to get up front and the location was walking distance to restaurants.

The bar was closed for the day/night we were there. There didn't seem to be more than one person in the whole hotel. The breakfast was a strange go to the window that no one is at, $8 oatmeal that would be free with a continental breakfast situation. We never had anyone come to the window to try and order any food so can't comment on the quality. It looked cool but was not worth the price due to the bar not being open and no way to get food.

We have stayed at this property a couple of times now. It has become very expensive in addition to now charging extra for parking and breakfast items. The facilities and rooms are looking a little tired. The SoHo area of Birmingham is charming and the hotel is well located. They are also pet friendly.

We were in Birmingham for the wedding of our dear friends' son. Aloft SoHo was on the list of recommended places to stay while we were in town. Upon arrival, the gal behind the desk greeted us and was very friendly. As we walked up to our room, we felt like we were in a dormitory of a college. The halls were hot, and the walls were all marred up. Upon entry to our room, it seemed very old and unkept. It looked clean, I will give them that, but it was stuffy (no matter what we had the ac set at, fan on/off) and the carpet looked and felt very dirty. The rest of the front desk staff (as we walked down for coffee Saturday morning) was less than friendly and acted put out when asked about coffee and menu items offered at the "breakfast bar". They were not accommodating and when the lobby was a little warm as my husband and his buddy were playing pool, the front desk employee told them to walk over and get a fan to plug into the wall by them; did not offer to do it for them. Customer service was definitely below average, the room was average, at best, and we we actually wondered why this hotel was one of the choices of places to stay. We will not be back.

It's a beautiful hotel. When we were staying there the hotel staff was nice. The only complaints I have were that the cleaning staff did not clean out the mini fridge for the previous occupants. Also I was double charged for the room. First through Hotels.com app and then I'll charge by the hotel themselves after checkout. Did it take a few calls to get my money responded.

Wonderful,friendly staff. Very clean and super location. Entry door was hard to open, as was the bathroom door/- room 408. Elevator is so quiet you barely know you’re moving in it. Parking was so easy. Very convenient hotel, although decor in the room is bare bones- very basic. I’ll stay here again.

This is truly a great place. Clean, friendly staff and close to shops and restaurants but there were trucks and cars honking and driving by at 2:00 and 3:00 in the morning. I expected some street noise when I got in the room but was surprised at the amount. I would still stay again but ask for a room facing away from the street. The staff was all southern hospitality and the noise was no fault of the hotel. Maybe a sound machine?

We had an extremely quick trip so it makes it unfair to give a completely accurate review. We arrived right at midnight and wanted to wind down for a few minutes before sleep. The TV had a picture and volume but then the picture went out so it left us with volume only. Turning it off and on didn't help and we weren't streaming so not an internet problem. We arrive late and weren't planning to watch so we didn't bother to call to report until checkout. So, I have no idea how they would have handled so a negative but they may have corrected immediately and all would have been well. Room was clean but not spacious. No tub but it may have been our type of room. Staff was friendly. Shower leaked around door.

Bed was very comfortable. Room was clean. Location is fine. Only issue was that the AC didn’t cool the room. Temperature in the room had to be 85 degrees.

The rooms were loud. I could hear everything from the hall and the room next to us. If the air conditioner fan could have contained running it would have been fine, but it kept cycling on and off which combined with the noise made for a fitful sleep.

The staff is amazing!! Was there 4 nights and needed a late check out the last day … traveling with my 1 year old grandson and they were so great with us. Recommend things for me to do with him while my daughter was in class.. always greeted with a smile and how are yall this morning! Already booking for the next several times she will need to be there !

We had a horrible stay. We asked for different pillows and extra blanket and were told no problem, but they never arrived. Our dirty towels were taken from the room, but never replaced. We got back to the hotel late at night and had go to the front desk to get new towels. Our fridge wasn’t working and took three days to get replaced. The hotel did not ever answer the phone at the front desk during regular working hours. The location is fantastic but not worse this stay.

Family get together for Easter. This hotel was great. The female staff was amazing - so personable and kind. The only issue we had was at check in. There was no one else in the lobby at all when we walked in and went to the desk where a youngish black man was working. He was typing, working on the computer so we just stood and waited. After SIX minutes, I said “ should we go somewhere else?” because he never looked up, never acknowledged us standing there waiting. He motioned us over and still never looked up. He went through the perfunctory motions but was hostile, unwelcoming, and seemed annoyed that we were there. It was strange, awkward, and he necessarily hostile. Someone should address this with him because it was a terrible start.

Unfortunately, my recent stay was marred by poor customer service. One of the staff members was extremely rude — breakfast was provided, but there were no utensils or plates available. When I asked for them, I was met with attitude rather than assistance. Checkout was equally unpleasant. The staff member was training a new employee and seemed more focused on that than acknowledging or assisting me. Her tone was passive-aggressive and dismissive, which really set a negative tone for the rest of my morning. The staff at Aloft Birmingham-Soho Square were exceptional! They were not only warm and welcoming but also highly responsive to every question or request. The hotel’s location in the vibrant SOHO area offers fantastic dining and shopping options. I strongly recommend this property for anyone visiting Birmingham. When I come visit my daughter at her college, I'll only stay here!

Stayed many times at this hotel, never had a bad experience like this time. The front desk attendant barged into my room at 11:00 at night when my wife and I were asleep and scared the hell out of us. No soap, no phone and I could keep going. Will NEVER stay there again.

The Aloft is our go to hotel in Birmingham. It is a perfect location to get anywhere in Birmingham. The staff are welcoming and friendly from check-in to housekeeping to the bartender. Highly recommend!!

We had a wonderful time at the Aloft in Soho Square. We stayed with our dog, and she had a great time as well. The staff were super friendly, and our dog even got some dog treats. Parking was easy and convenient to the hotel even with being in a life-filled retail district. We enjoyed walks around the neighborhood, and many restaurants were close by. Our room was super quiet at night, and we slept great. Bed was very comfy. Would definitely stay here again.

We were in Birmingham for the wedding of our dear friends' son. Aloft SoHo was on the list of recommended places to stay while we were in town. Upon arrival, the gal behind the desk greeted us and was very friendly. As we walked up to our room, we felt like we were in a dormitory of a college. The halls were hot, and the walls were all marred up. Upon entry to our room, it seemed very old and unkept. It looked clean, I will give them that, but it was stuffy (no matter what we had the ac set at, fan on/off) and the carpet looked and felt very dirty. The rest of the front desk staff (as we walked down for coffee Saturday morning) was less than friendly and acted put out when asked about coffee and menu items offered at the "breakfast bar". They were not accommodating and when the lobby was a little warm as my husband and his buddy were playing pool, the front desk employee told them to walk over and get a fan to plug into the wall by them; did not offer to do it for them. Customer service was definitely below average, the room was average, at best, and we we actually wondered why this hotel was one of the choices of places to stay. We will not be back.

Arrived Friday afternoon & was greater at the front desk by Stephanie. She went out of her way to make us feel at home. When our daughter’s flight got cancelled, she helped us with arrangements. She went above and beyond her duties to help us at every turn. She has an infectious smile and a very welcoming manner. Our room was extremely comfortably, great beds, solid shower & water pressure and good lighting. The “breakfast” was a bit lacking, but plenty of choices walking distance from the hotel. This was our second stay here and we will be back!

Very friendly staff from the front desk to housekeeping; The happy hour was a nice touch and the bar was open and the bartender was great! Parking wasn't bad because we were able to get up front and the location was walking distance to restaurants.

The bar was closed for the day/night we were there. There didn't seem to be more than one person in the whole hotel. The breakfast was a strange go to the window that no one is at, $8 oatmeal that would be free with a continental breakfast situation. We never had anyone come to the window to try and order any food so can't comment on the quality. It looked cool but was not worth the price due to the bar not being open and no way to get food.

The front desk staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly. While there is no restaurant, they have a selection of snack foods and frozen foods you can eat in the evening, and you can buy breakfast in the morning.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Everyone was amazing. Plenty of parking. So much within walking distance. Great experience for the whole family. We played games in the lobby in the evenings. Full bar and excellent service from Terry. It was a great experience and lots of greal memories made. We will absolutely stay here again when we come back to Birmingham.

The front desk gentlemen were lovely . The room was not clean at check in- food still in the refrigerator from prior guest - floor under the sink was dirty. Despite requesting room cleaning before 1:30 that never happened and the cleaning personnel sang and shouted in the hall during the afternoon . The AC didn’t work appropriately and made noise requiring noise cancelling headphones. The room had a stench of plumbing issues either sewage issue or blocked pipes. The remedy offered was wiping the floors with fabulous cleaner which stinks. I declined that and paid for a candle I burned. The day of check out ( today) the woman at the front desk was rude . I have stayed with you multiple times but may reconsider that in the future. It was a disappointing experience this time. The hotel rooms need renovation and are tired in appearance . The breakfast donuts and pastries were also terribly disappointing. Stale donuts and sad looking pastry.
