I had a great 4 nights staying at this hotel - which is owned by the monastery across the street. The highlights for me were 1) Helmut, the night guard (extremely friendly and with encyclopedic knowledge on German/Bavarian history and politics); 2) the pool (quite nice); 3) the sauna (only open from 3 pm, but also very nice); and 4) the bed (VERY nice mattress). Highly recommended!

Familienzimmer war schön eingerichtet, großzügiges Platzangebot, sauber. Wunderbares Frühstück. Netter Wellnessbereich mit großem Pool. An der Getränkeversorgung im Saunabereich hats etwas gemangelt und ein paar Knabbereien wären nicht schlecht.

Ich war zusammen mit meinem Sohn im schönen Ettal.Haben im Hotel zwei Nächte verbracht. Hatten ein schönes großzügig gestaltetes Zimmer im 1. OG, leider zur Straße raus. Bis auf den nicht mehr zeitgemäßen Mini Fön und den kleinen TV war das Zimmer modernisiert worden und sehr gemütlich.Das Frühstück war gut, besonders ist der Service hervorzuheben. Die Dame war sehr freundlich und hat uns mit frisch zubereiteten Spiegeleiern und Heißgetränken den Morgen so angenehm wie möglich gemacht. Auch zu möglichen Ausflugsziele hat sie uns mit Tipps versorgt.Das Hotel verfügt über ein schönes großes Schwimmbad und einen kleinen, aber modernen Saunabereich. Da wir in der Nebensaison hier waren, konnten wir beides gut nutzen & haben es genossen.Zur Hauptsaison, wenn das Hotel ausgebucht ist, wird es dort bestimmt sehr kuschelig, da der Saunabereich eben nicht zur Größe des Hotels passt. Am ersten Abend haben wir im Braustübl, gehört zum Hotel, sehr leckerere regionale Gerichte gegessen. Auch hier war der Service sehr freundlich & kompetent. Ein weiteres Highlight ist der hoteleigene Kostenlose Parkplatz auf der Rückseite des Hotels. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

We stayed two nights during our honeymoon. The hotel/room/town were all adorable. Our suite was spacious and clean. There’s a bus stop in front of and across the street from the hotel. Ettal Abbey is also across from the hotel. The front desk has a visitor card for guests to use for free local bus travel (after 5 euro deposit/per person). We used it to travel to the Schloss Linderhof and Oberammergau. We used the pool, saunas and massage amenities. Absolutely loved our stay and wish we stayed longer.

Una bella struttura, nata come ospizio per i pellegrini della vicina abbazia di Ettal, ma trasformato in albergo a quattro stelle fornito di tutti i comfort. Massima pulizia, non stanze ma appartamenti completi di cucina. Colazione veramente fenomenale servita anche in giardino. Da consigliare senz’altro

When we arrived there was no one at the front desk, then the lady that showed up said she is not trained to check people. It took a while before we were checked in. The room was not what we had paid for but we figured it is just for one night. After going to the pool wanted to take a shower, cold water was not working. So we had to change room. She gave us two card to go down to the bar, had a beer and Jin tonic she said that was more than what the coupons were good for so the rest will be charged to our room. The first room was in horrible shape the second one is a little better. It is a big hotel with maybe ten rooms occupied. Just do yourself a favor, go somewhere else.

Room cleanliness is decent, and towels are replaced properly. The bar in the lobby is very small and I didn’t really like it. In one of the rooms, there was a clogged shower that caused flooding, and it was only fixed the next day, which was quite unpleasant.

Es ist ein wunderschönes Hotel an einem schönen Ort. Das Zimmer war sehr schön und ruhig. Das Abendessen und Frühstück waren lecker. Negativ war, dass die Heizung im Zimmer sehr schwach wärmte, obwohl die Heizung im Badezimmer richtig heiß war. Der Ablauf von der Dusche war verstopft.

Nice stay overall but our downstairs neighbor were talking loud and laughing loud at 11:30pm-midnight. Well we had to close balcony door even though it was warm in the rooms keep the noise out.

Had an interesting experience in the hotel restaurant. My soup was forgotten, but still appeared on the bill. After dessert, I pointed this out. They brought the soup instead of removing from bill. Have never had to eat soup after dessert before. Know there was a language barrier but service at the restaurant for dinner had many mistakes, not just at our table. Have never experienced this in any restaurant ever in being served soup after dessert and having to eat it. Dinner food was also the most mediocre food I had in my whole Bavaria trip. However breakfast was good! The food at breakfast was delicious and tasty. The room we stayed in was big, but a bit old and could do with an update. The bed was comfortable. The air quality in room was poor but fixed by opening the windows for a bit. The bathroom was big and lovely with a huge bath and hot water. Not a perfect stay but Ok. Just some things to improve on next time.

We stayed two nights during our honeymoon. The hotel/room/town were all adorable. Our suite was spacious and clean. There’s a bus stop in front of and across the street from the hotel. Ettal Abbey is also across from the hotel. The front desk has a visitor card for guests to use for free local bus travel (after 5 euro deposit/per person). We used it to travel to the Schloss Linderhof and Oberammergau. We used the pool, saunas and massage amenities. Absolutely loved our stay and wish we stayed longer.

Delightful charming hotel with very sweet staff. We had a room for three people and it was very spacious and had all the amenities. Nice robe and bath towel for the pool and spa. The hotel is in fantastic condition so I’m wondering if it was nearly updated. The breakfast in the morning was very good and included. The grounds are wonderful and it’s close to nice little shops.

This hotel is located in a very beautiful place, it has nice backyard and swimming pool/sauna! Breakfast is good, especially their tea selection. Hospitality is ok, but noone is going above and beyond to assist you. Two main things that really bother! First is that they don’t have 24 hours reception - receptionist leaves at 10 pm and there is no one who can help you with anything after that time. Even at check out we got in little trouble: we were leaving at 7:30 am (which is not too early) and heading straight to airport (so we did not have any extra (free) time to wait) - there were no receptionist at reception at that moment… ;( And second - they have Nothing to drink! There is no tea/coffee station in the lobby, no even water. On the top of that there are no kettle or coffee maker in the room. It was very unpleasant because my kids got thirsty before bedtime when all stores/restaurants were already closed, and even hotel reception was closed as well. When I complained about that on the next day they told me that “oh, you can come to reception anytime (anytime is already not true) and we will make you a tea”. Ok, we tried that one time and they changed us 8Euro for that ;0 Overall it is a good hotel with spacious and clean rooms, it just needs some adjustments.

I had a great 4 nights staying at this hotel - which is owned by the monastery across the street. The highlights for me were 1) Helmut, the night guard (extremely friendly and with encyclopedic knowledge on German/Bavarian history and politics); 2) the pool (quite nice); 3) the sauna (only open from 3 pm, but also very nice); and 4) the bed (VERY nice mattress). When we arrived there was no one at the front desk, then the lady that showed up said she is not trained to check people. It took a while before we were checked in. The room was not what we had paid for but we figured it is just for one night. After going to the pool wanted to take a shower, cold water was not working. So we had to change room. She gave us two card to go down to the bar, had a beer and Jin tonic she said that was more than what the coupons were good for so the rest will be charged to our room. The first room was in horrible shape the second one is a little better. It is a big hotel with maybe ten rooms occupied. Just do yourself a favor, go somewhere else.

Da wir aus Wettergründen ein Tag früher angereist sind, mussten wir ein Tag später in unser ursprüngliches Zimmer umziehen. Dies wurde von Magdalena hervorragend organisiert, da wir unterwegs waren. Had an interesting experience in the hotel restaurant. My soup was forgotten, but still appeared on the bill. After dessert, I pointed this out. They brought the soup instead of removing from bill. Have never had to eat soup after dessert before. Know there was a language barrier but service at the restaurant for dinner had many mistakes, not just at our table. Have never experienced this in any restaurant ever in being served soup after dessert and having to eat it. Dinner food was also the most mediocre food I had in my whole Bavaria trip. However breakfast was good! The food at breakfast was delicious and tasty. The room we stayed in was big, but a bit old and could do with an update. The bed was comfortable. The air quality in room was poor but fixed by opening the windows for a bit. The bathroom was big and lovely with a huge bath and hot water. Not a perfect stay but Ok. Just some things to improve on next time.

Da wir in der Nebensaison hier waren, konnten wir beides gut nutzen & haben es genossen.Zur Hauptsaison, wenn das Hotel ausgebucht ist, wird es dort bestimmt sehr kuschelig, da der Saunabereich eben nicht zur Größe des Hotels passt. We totally lucked in with finding the Klosterhotel. The hotel is traditional and beautiful in every way, and very reasonably priced for the location. The restaurant and breakfast were excellent. The kloster complex across the street was a special treat. Our only regret was that we didn’t book for a longer stay.

Very nice hotel in an excellent location. the room was quite nice and airy. The breakfast was very good, as was the food in the restaurant. My only complaint is that they stop serving warm food after 8:30 p.m. and only cold food till 9. YOu have to plan to be back by then or you have no real options in the town.

We stayed for 5 nights and had an absolutely amazing stay. The staff were very courteous and helpful. The room was very clean maintained daily be the staff. The pool was beautiful and my son loved playing in there. The playground has a play house, trampoline, seesaw, etc, and is right next to a beautiful garden to relax in whole the little guy played. The food was delicious and they had English menus for us to use. Breakfast was excellent. No shortage of choices and able to accommodate any taste buds. I will stay here again in a heartbeat if I come back to the region.
