Stayed with dog for one night before doing a long distance walk over to ulswater. Wasn’t able to leave my car on car Park for an extra day till I could return for it. Had to buy a 3 day pass to park in grasmere at an additional cost of £20.20.Had to pay £10 extra for the dog which I didn’t mind paying but after paying full breakfast price for myself and only opting for a bowl porridge would even let me order an extra sausage for the dog.

This is a very welcoming hotel. Ample on site parking and super dog friendly. Everyone of the staff delivered a high standard of customer service. Food is excellent. We stayed in a standard sized room which was very clean and comfortable. I will return but next time I will go for a larger room as I found the standard sized room bathroom a bit small for my large size frame ( I’m over six feet tall. ).

Wonderful Westmorland hospitality. Nice real fire in the Bar, so welcome on an Autumn evening. Chats with local regulars. Beautiful room. Excellent menu and eventual meal plus brilliant choice of wine with no overpricing. Excellent breakfast to complete our visit.

Wonderful overnight stay. Free parking adjacent to property. Nice building with relaxed vibe. Even the background music was different and interesting. Evening meal very tasty and well presented. Ambiance very nice. Bedroom good size, comfortable large bed, and quiet. Breakfast (we had pancakes, back bacon and maple syrup with berries) was superb. Would definitely stay again. Highly recommended. .

We very much enjoyed our two night stay that included an amazing hike that started right out front of the Inn. Our room was lovely but a tad noisey as the Inn is right on the road. It quiets down at night. We had realfast and dinner on site and all were delicious! A cozy spot very easily reached without a car.

A very nice historic pub/hotel with good food and friendly staff. Plenty of parking. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was modern and a good size. It is conveniently situated on the main road just outside the village of Grasmere, so reaching other parts of the Lake District is easy. The rooms have double glazing but the road noise may be a problem for some people. It didn’t bother us.

On arrival, parking was restricted due to workmen’s vans taking over half of the car park. Our superior double room was very noisy from traffic noise as it only had secondary glazing and faced the main road. The room was cold and we were not able to turn on the heating ourselves. At 5.30pm We complained to reception who then agreed to turn it on. It went off again at 8.30pm and did not resume until 7.30am the next morning. It was a really cold night.

For the cost of the room, I was bitterly disappointed with the standard of the room. The photographs on the website do not remotely represent the actual room we got. The room stank of dogs, the en-suite bathroom was particularly dirty and run Down, mouldy ceiling sink cupboard doors damaged beyond repair by water damage. The toilet was unclean, the fan was useless and unsuitable for getting rid of the built up steam and giving adequate ventilation but in general, the whole room was generally run down.

The location is wonderful as it’s nice and quiet!! Very accommodating to us and the dog and was kept clean and tidy. The food and service was excellent would rate it 6 stars if there was an option to. Our shower room needed a little bit of TLC albeit in full working order which would be the only negative comment I could make. All in all a wonderful stay and would happily recommend to others.

We stayed at the Traveller's Rest Inn for one night recently, and were impressed with the friendliness of the staff, the location and the extremely high quality of the meals we were served. We ate in the restaurant for our evening meal, and were really impressed with the service, presentation and quality of the food. Our breakfast the following morning was equally as good, with a very substantial and tasty full Cumbrian. Our room was comfortable, with pleasant decor, but I would also say that maybe a little more attention to detail is required with the cleaning, as we did find a few grubby marks on the doors in our room. However, this did not spoil what was a very pleasant stay at the Traveller's Rest.

The entrance was stinking with wine or some other foul smell which we couldn’t withstand. The beds were too small although it says double bed. Rest was good, the washrooms were clean and the towels as well.

The welcome was good, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The room had everything in it we needed, but was rather tired, and the bathroom needed some minor repairs. The water was hot whenever we needed it. The food was excellent.

Fantastic stay, food was excellent, rooms cosy and very clean. Staff were wonderful and very friendly they even dried our swimming kit in the boiler room over night 😃. Great value for money and we will definitely return.

The check in was simple, with clear instructions provided in the room. Access to good quality WiFi was again simple. I ate in the pub for breakfast and dinner, it was easy to put my dinner bill and associated drinks on my bill. All the staff were friendly and relaxed, despite being a busy bank holiday weekend, which is a credit to them. All the food was fantastic, served hot and without too much of a wait. The staff were on it and keen to give you a good stay. I would definitely stay again!

Lovely facilities and great atmosphere. Easy check in/out and clean room. The only issue I had was that the room itself was very cold throughout the night. But I did make the booking fairly last minute so it’s possible this was an oversight.

Fantastic place to stay with stunning views. The staff were so lovely, helpful and friendly and couldn’t do enough to make us welcome and ensure our stay was enjoyable.

On arrival, parking was restricted due to workmen’s vans taking over half of the car park. Our superior double room was very noisy from traffic noise as it only had secondary glazing and faced the main road. The room was cold and we were not able to turn on the heating ourselves. At 5.30pm We complained to reception who then agreed to turn it on. It went off again at 8.30pm and did not resume until 7.30am the next morning. It was a really cold night.

Had a lovely stay room was clean bed was a bit to hard for me and we kept knocking are knees on the sides of the beds could do with something on the corners food was lovely location was picturesque but we did get quite a bit of traffic as it was on a main road

Just enjoyed a 2 night stay here. Very friendly & helpful staff, the room was clean, bed very comfy. The food was very nice & reasonably priced. Great location within 10-15 mins of Ambleside, Windermere & around 20 mins to Keswick. Will definitely come back.

We very much enjoyed our two night stay that included an amazing hike that started right out front of the Inn. Our room was lovely but a tad noisey as the Inn is right on the road. It quiets down at night. We had realfast and dinner on site and all were delicious! A cozy spot very easily reached without a car.

It is small enough where staff make you feel welcome. Lots of character. Some great walks nearby although a bit of a walk to centre of village.

The location was brilliant for visiting in and around Grasmere, a few minutes walk away. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The room was cosy and had everything needed. Had evening meal and breakfast - both fantastic. Would highly recommend.

A very nice historic pub/hotel with good food and friendly staff. Plenty of parking. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was modern and a good size. It is conveniently situated on the main road just outside the village of Grasmere, so reaching other parts of the Lake District is easy. The rooms have double glazing but the road noise may be a problem for some people. It didn’t bother us.

The overall experience of staying at The Travellers Rest was very pleasant. The setting is fabulous, the room was quite comfortable and the proximity to Grasmere mde visiting the town very easy. The min concern we had was the price of breakfast compared to other hotels we have stayed in. We did not believe it was value for money.

Wonderful Westmorland hospitality. Nice real fire in the Bar, so welcome on an Autumn evening. Chats with local regulars. Beautiful room. Excellent menu and eventual meal plus brilliant choice of wine with no overpricing. Excellent breakfast to complete our visit.

Wonderful overnight stay. Free parking adjacent to property. Nice building with relaxed vibe. Even the background music was different and interesting. Evening meal very tasty and well presented. Ambiance very nice. Bedroom good size, comfortable large bed, and quiet. Breakfast (we had pancakes, back bacon and maple syrup with berries) was superb. Would definitely stay again. Highly recommended. .

We had a disappointing stay. Our room, which was a double, was incredibly small. We had to put our suitcases under the bed in order to move around the room. The furniture was old and warped such that the door to the armoire wouldn’t close and swung out open into the room. There was mold on the tiles in the shower stall. We did not receive housekeeping services our second day. Our third day, the cleaner arrived while we were out but did not leave any toilet paper - even tho we were almost out-and no shampoo or shower gel. The only way we knew she entered the room were the two clean hand towels she left on our bed. This inn is in a very picturesque location, but it is very tired and needs updating. Breakfast was good.

We stayed in a dog friendly room for the second time with our westie, it perfectly suited our needs and it was well appointed and appropriate for our trip. The staff are amazing and can't do enough to help. We found them all friendly and approachable both to ourselves and Barney our dog. Meals and especially the breakfast are outstanding and we can recommend the travellers rest grill on a morning and either the fish and chips or steak and bacon suet pudding on the evening menu.
