Twin Oaks Hotel

The cheapest we could find at short notice. Good powerful shower. We were close to the entrance lobby door where there was a lot of traffic and the door banged quiet loudly and due to narrow corridor people ‘s voices were loud, but thankfully this only happened early evening before 9pm. There was a marquee outside our patio door which gave me concern if there had been a function on we would have heard everything.

Lovely hotel with good eating and bar area ,family rooms very good and easy parking.

Plus side, room was quiet even though it was next to the M1 and there was a party night in their marquee. Nice bar with decent beer. Staff pleasant. Sufficient parking and served by Uber. Do offer breakfast at £12.95 and have a full service restaurant for lunch and dinner. Negative side; room was a little smelly. They do welcome dogs which could explain the odour. Shower was ridiculously powerful so the room got a bit of a wash. Shower leaked and the skirting was rotten. Room could do with a bit of a better clean as there was a fair bit of dust in most places.

Check in and out were excellent, smooth and friendly. The bed was short qnd uncomfortable. Noise from the corridor passed to the rooms easily. There was a gap under the room door. The outside qrea has trucks constantly moving, and we arrived at a traffic jam caused by the local car boot. When we got back to the hotel at 10:20pm we were informed that the bar was closed, despite there being people in the bar and staff available. Could have been so much better, sadly let down.

Great location, immediately off junction 29 of m1. Yet it’s quiet, w a gentle hum of traffic. Much better than a high street hotel where you get noisy passing traffic. Staff helpful (accommodated my request for decaf coffee at breakfast and a sandwich on arrival despite kitchen being closed). Comfy bed. Sat in the garden in the sunshine on arrival to refresh after a 3-hour drive. Good parking. Great selection of gins in the bar! Great room.had a patio so was sitting out side in the cool breeze.was a pleasure.food was good.and service was good.

Large rooms in annexe, not crowded in bar area

Friendly staff at check in. We stayed in a family room which is in an annexe at the back. Lovely spacious room. Large bed. Very happy with our stay and great location just off the motorway. Bit noisy when others staying in the annexe were coming and going into their rooms but not the hotels fault.

Clean room, sufficient shower water pressure, and easy to access including car parking.

The shower difficult to get into very small door no hand rail.Also a bit expensive for what you get...Did not appear to have a lift so had to cart our bags upstairs

We recently stayed in the family block over the weekend and had a really lovely stay! The hotel was clean, comfortable, and quiet – perfect for a restful night. Parking was easy, and the breakfast was nicely cooked and delicious. The staff were absolutely lovely and made us feel very welcome. Would definitely stay again!

After reading the reviews for this hotel I book a three night stay for my wife and I. Many five star recommendations and apparently in the top 10% of hotels etc etc..yeah right. Reception and booking in was very friendly and pleasant, but we got to the room ,well what can I say. Not just not cleaned but dirty and the bathroom smelled of damp and the shower basin and glass was in a real state. The loo roll holder is hanging off and there was only a half a roll on it and no replacement. The piece de resistance though was the used false finger nails laying around on the floor of our room. We did let the receptionist know and she seemed very concerned that this could have happened and vowed to correct the situation but it did take until the next day and apparently it was anew starter who didn’t know what to do..CLEAN IT! For gods sake, you’re a cleaner. Anyway I digress, the food was tolerable but paying £5.95 for a Guinness and to be served a can stuck in my craw shall we say. So off to bed, don’t believe you can’t hear the main road…you can! Not that this is the hotels fault but the male next door who obviously drinks heavily and sets his alarm for 6 and proceeds to sleep through it until I had to bang an his door (two mornings running) was a real bonus. Food on the second night was vile, the fish and chips was so over cooked it was inedible. All in all a real disappointment. I will vouch for the staff though, very friendly. We checked out a day early with no refund

Some of this stay was as advertised, a modern hotel with luxury decor. I didn’t eat here but the menu sounded delicious and was reasonably priced. The reception staff were helpful and friendly whenever I spoke to them. I had booked a room with a spa bath - as a treat and more expensive for the room than I might have paid for a stay otherwise. However I was disgusted after using the spa bath when I discovered numerous black particles had been emitted by the jets. It was too late in the day to report it to the staff as they do not provide a night service, so I approached the receptionist next morning and she took my details to pass on to her manager. Shortly afterwards I was offered a different room with a spa bath. I declined this and the manager was called and came to the reception. The managers manner was not pleasant or professional. When she arrived at the reception desk she didn’t acknowledge me or make any eye contact, let alone apologise for the problem. She was straight faced to the point of appearing sulky. She spoke only to the receptionist who repeated to me what the manager said to her about a different room with a shower, which I accepted. I was not offered any refund even though the room was cheaper. I had looked forward to my stay but I don’t think I will ever want to book a spa bath again in any other hotel/apartment. I’m just hoping now that I don’t develop any sort of infection.

Overall a great place to stay. Rooms are just a little bit tired but are very clean . Staff are really friendly. Bed a little to firm for me.

Very happy with room overall very clean, a few cobwebs. Breakfast was excellent able to offer me gluten and dairy free options. Staff very friendly and helpful will definitely book again.

Value for the Money. Cleanliness and maintenance: there are slugs in the bathroom otherwise it is good.

2 night stay, very practical location. Hotel did let us know of Christmas party nights in advance and luckily we didn’t hear much additional noise. Major problem with damp in the room (7) you could see the condensation coming down the wall and puddles of water collected in the bathroom (on floor and on bench) atmosphere dampened the toilet roll and had a n overall damp smell. The carpet under the window was damp too. Overall the room was nicely decorated and clean but ir would be ideal if the above could be looked into for future guests. Staff were lovely and once everyone settles in there should be fewer hiccups (we weren’t officially checked in on our first night as staff were busy with party night) ok stay but wouldn’t stay again unfortunately

Had a family room, it was big clean and well appointed. Only problem was the room doors in the annex are not at all soundproof; disturbed the neighbouring room with normal volume talk in the foyer; they thought we must have been shouting. I could hear conversations from outside the room with ease.

The room was really nice and obviously newly decorated but although a double bed was specified the actual bed seemed smaller than a double. My husband and I are not particularly large people and our double at home is comfortable. This was not and we both felt in danger of falling out at times.

Lovely service, an okay location though not much in the area. The rooms were decent, pretty much like any basic hotel however the mattress was very very firm and their were extremely noisy guests, signs around to say be mindful but had a poor sleep due to the inconsiderate guests.

The room was a little on the small side but adequate. It was clean and the staff were friendly. The breakfast was good as was dinner.

The room was lovely. Only problem was a marquee about 5 metres away from our room. There was a function on and the music was blasting out. By 10.30pm we asked for another room and why put a marquee so close to the bedrooms? The manager Chelsea was brilliant and put us in another room away from the main building. She rectified the problem quickly and we got a good nights sleep and a free breakfast in the morning. We also ate there that night and the food was lovely. I wouldn't be put off staying here again. Its just a shame the marquee is so close to the rooms when theres a function on. Apparently theres no where else to put the marquee.

Great hotel for an overnight stay while on business in the area. The standard room I had was small but very comfortable and immaculately clean. WiFi was excellent in the room. Sockets by thee bed and the desk. Seems like an obvious requirement but many Premier inns and others done have this. Food was also good quality and staff very friendly.

Room was probably no bigger than a prison cell. Was a small double bed. Wifi didn't work in room. Pinot Grigio they only sold by the bottle but they had an individual bottle (medium) glass which was acidic. Sauvignon blanc tjeu sold by the glass but only small or large size, no medium. Breakfast was a calamity! Got there for 8am opening time. Apparently they were running late, we waited 10 minutes for the buffet to be put out. Then went to get toast but staff member couldt get it to work. She then went to get another member of staff. No hot water for tea. Then the same member of staff dropped a glass jug of juice. We then had to ask for tea. Returned for carvery early evening. We were seated and asked to wait while they prepared takeaways! Went to pay for our meal and staff member didn't know how to do it, had to wait for someone else. On a better note the food was really good but different systems and maybe more staff training needed. Overall not a great stay and at £81 a night for room only I think was overpriced.

Staff are great, very helpful and pleasant. Good breakfast and hotel overall is just nice, it has a good feel to it, it’s hidden away and I’m glad we found it.

Twin Oaks hotel, check in was good, access card for the room given by reception and advised of booking evening meal in the restaurant, and the times for breakfast. Our twin room, beds and pillows were every comfortable, proper wardrobe. Kettle.tea, coffee, biscuit etc. Staff were extremely helpful and attentive.

Bar staff not very friendly

My daughter and I stayed at Twin Oaks for the weekend and had a really lovely stay. The breakfast was delicious and all the staff there were really friendly and helpful. The housekeeper was also very respectful and accommodating. Beds were also very comfy! Thank you

The staff are BRILLIANT, the young lady on reception couldn't do enough to help. Food was excellent

We had a comfortable room which was spacious and well equipped although the bathroom was a bit cramped, everything worked well. The hotel was full but appeared to be understaffed with long waits for food in the restaurant. Mostly business customers.

Good clean modern room, individual room temperature control via thermostat, the usual tea/coffee making facilities, plus a hairdryer! Staff friendly and helpful, plentiful parking and very convenient location 30 seconds from junction 29 M1. Was very convenient for the motorway, we were breaking a long journey and it was only 5 minutes from the M1 and having a restaurant on site was a real plus. The rooms were OK, one bed was uncomfortable and needed a mattress topper, but apart from that the room was clean and had everything you needed.

The hotel is very clean. The facilities of the hotel are high quality, so I feel very comfortable at the hotel. The location is quite close to Matlock, so it is very convenient to view a few attractive places near Matlock. It is value for the money. Highly recommended.

Well where do you start Car park plenty of space Reception a lovely welcome and introduction to the hotel Room clean smart comfortable nice bed pillows and sheets Free toiletries Bathroom personally I found small but I am a large chap so probably should have asked Nice bathroom modern looking just little bits like limescale on the shower door handle and a cover missing on the shower door and the shower head leaked not enough to cause a problem but water ended up pooling outside the shower not a show stopper The bar was nice again great staff and reasonably priced drinks The evening meal was fantastic The Sunday carvery is one of the best I’ve had All in all I’m going to be back

Very nice stay, rooms clean tidy, lovely big bed. Shower was excellent, however toilet roll holder missing which wasn't so great. Ate dinner which was all fine, we were late arriving so didn't manage a dessert. Breakfast disappointing as luke warm and not a lot of choice as chef replenishing. Overall a nice stay.

This hotel has so much potential to be much better. The food was really poor, the scrambled egg was just slop. God knows what the chefs done with it but youve got a problem if your chef cant scramble eggs properly. The young lady at breakfast was working really hard but youve got to give her some help. 1 person cant be bringing out the food and clearing the tables....maybe you were short staffed just for
