Staff very helpful and friendly, free on street parking, loads of places to eat in the area (Ocean Road), handy for the seafront. The hotel itself was top notch and the breakfast room/coffee shop were lovely. Will definitely be back.

The room that we booked was not as advertised on the website, we chose a superior double as not too many stairs but the room we were given was another flight of stairs up. Had to phone the hotel number as no one available to talk to in person but in saying that was quickly resolved and a ground floor room was thankfully available. I mentioned website as also advertised a lounge/bar for guests but this apparently had not been open since Covid! Suggested website requires updating. Breakfast included was a continental only unless upgraded for £15pp for hot food. Continental was sufficient.

Excellent service & staff. All staff found to be very friendly. Breakfast menu good. Property about half a mile from centre of south shields with metro & bus stations. Pleasant walks through local parks & along coast nearby. Parking - widely available as free spaces outside along whole length of road & nearby side roads. Our car left entire duration of our stay as we made use of very good public transport. Excellent base for staying near Newcastle or travelling nearby. Would definitely recommend as a suitable destination.

This is very attractive clean and well decorated hotel and the all the staff are very friendly and attentive. Calum met us on arrival and kindly carried our case to our room on the top floor. The room was small but comfortable. The bathroom shower worked well but the cold water from the sink tap had a very limited flow and the extractor fan was not very efficient. The weather that weekend was hot and sunny which made the room very hot and with only a small top window to open not much fresh air. Although there is a fan in the room it did not make any difference. The continental breakfast was nice and the afternoon teas that we saw looked lovely. The hotel is in a great location with plenty of restaurants accross the road and the beach just a few minutes away at the end of the road. I would recommend the hotel and definitely book again.

Asked for downstairs room. As no lift got tiny stuffy room on first floor aaked for bigger room was moved to attic and cj Charged another 40 pounds for Squeeky bed every time you turn over and bathroom light and room ceiling light not working faulty towers stairs narrow and slippy .did not enjoy this b and b at all breakfast over at 9 oclock i would stay well away fro faulty towers spend your money else where

Superb welcome from the chap with the shaved head (sorry not caught your name), really friendly and helpful. Lovely venue, lots of art and personality. Comfortable room. Dog friendly. Breakfast and lunch available at a cost. Parking - free- on street outside. 5 min walk to the two Marine Parks and the beach. 20 min walk to South Shields metro. 25 to the ferry.

Second stay here and really enjoyed it once again. Bed a little uncomfortable but room spotless and well maintained. Continental breakfast on Christmas and Boxing Day was great and lots of choice. Staff friendly, welcoming and attentive. Although the hotel is on a busy road, very quiet.

Arrival was swift and easy, then shown to room in building next door, which wasn't a problem. Room 17 pretty small, small bathroom and sink in the bedroom. All looked clean and tidy apart from the seat at the desk and the information booklet which both need attention.

Our 4th stay here and, once again, couldn't fault it. Clean and comfortable room, friendly staff and quiet location. Breakfast is brilliant, freshly cooked. Will definitely stay again when in South Shields.

Room was tidy, but hot. Noise from the main road and guests conversation clearly could be heard from next rooms specially after midnight. The worst part, no toiletries supplied. Therefore could not take showers for a couple of days. Even hand soap not supplied.

Probably the best hotel in the area. Wonderful staff. Prepared a vegan breakfast for us. Rooms a little noisy but normal for most hotels and I’m a light sleeper. Would definitely stay again if return to the area

The room was relatively comfortable but street facing so I was kept awake by people racing motorbikes on a Saturday night on the street outside which wasn't great (this would be worse on a bit day if you needed to keep window open) The room was also very small, I literally couldn't open my suitcase which for the price wasn't great (though I appreciate it was Great north run weekend so prices are higher). Toilet was also very loud. On the plus side the staff were friendly, well located for great north run finish.

Booked superior en suite room our driver was given basic room shared toilet in another building no explanation. Driver has health issues had to leave and try find accommodation elsewhere and eventually did at more cost still waiting on hotel refunding us

Scott & Liz are fantastic hosts, going above and beyond for their guests. The hotel is conveniently located for all amenities. It’s beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was awesome.

Second stay here and really enjoyed it once again. Bed a little uncomfortable but room spotless and well maintained. Continental breakfast on Christmas and Boxing Day was great and lots of choice. Staff friendly, welcoming and attentive. Although the hotel is on a busy road, very quiet.

Staff very helpful and friendly, free on street parking, loads of places to eat in the area (Ocean Road), handy for the seafront. The hotel itself was top notch and the breakfast room/coffee shop were lovely. Will definitely be back.

Excellent service & staff. All staff found to be very friendly. Breakfast menu good. Property about half a mile from centre of south shields with metro & bus stations. Pleasant walks through local parks & along coast nearby. Parking - widely available as free spaces outside along whole length of road & nearby side roads. Our car left entire duration of our stay as we made use of very good public transport. Excellent base for staying near Newcastle or travelling nearby. Would definitely recommend as a suitable destination.

This is very attractive clean and well decorated hotel and the all the staff are very friendly and attentive. Calum met us on arrival and kindly carried our case to our room on the top floor. The room was small but comfortable. The bathroom shower worked well but the cold water from the sink tap had a very limited flow and the extractor fan was not very efficient. The weather that weekend was hot and sunny which made the room very hot and with only a small top window to open not much fresh air. Although there is a fan in the room it did not make any difference. The continental breakfast was nice and the afternoon teas that we saw looked lovely. The hotel is in a great location with plenty of restaurants accross the road and the beach just a few minutes away at the end of the road. I would recommend the hotel and definitely book again.

The room was relatively comfortable but street facing so I was kept awake by people racing motorbikes on a Saturday night on the street outside which wasn't great (this would be worse on a bit day if you needed to keep window open) The room was also very small, I literally couldn't open my suitcase which for the price wasn't great (though I appreciate it was Great north run weekend so prices are higher). Toilet was also very loud. On the plus side the staff were friendly, well located for great north run finish.

It is obvious that this family has had 5-star hotel experience. The room was beautiful, clean, and well-appointed. The food choices were myriad for breakfast, and I could see why the people of the city go there for breakfast, brunch, coffee, and lunch. The staff were friendly, and expeditious.

Our 4th stay here and, once again, couldn't fault it. Clean and comfortable room, friendly staff and quiet location. Breakfast is brilliant, freshly cooked. Will definitely stay again when in South Shields.

Probably the best hotel in the area. Wonderful staff. Prepared a vegan breakfast for us. Rooms a little noisy but normal for most hotels and I’m a light sleeper. Would definitely stay again if return to the area

The room that we booked was not as advertised on the website, we chose a superior double as not too many stairs but the room we were given was another flight of stairs up. Had to phone the hotel number as no one available to talk to in person but in saying that was quickly resolved and a ground floor room was thankfully available. I mentioned website as also advertised a lounge/bar for guests but this apparently had not been open since Covid! Suggested website requires updating. Breakfast included was a continental only unless upgraded for £15pp for hot food. Continental was sufficient.

Really cheap last minute emergency stay. Totally fine but only for an emergency. Strange they made me pay for breakfast when I made the booking as b&b. On this review it confirmed it should have been free. Oh well!

Scott & Liz are fantastic hosts, going above and beyond for their guests. The hotel is conveniently located for all amenities. It’s beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was awesome.

Best thing about this hotel is the breakfast ! We arrived to find there is no physical reception , you ring a number on the intercom and then all of the instructions are sent to you . The first time I rang there was no answer . The rooms are in different blocks it wasn’t clear initially . To get into the building you have to get your front door key out of a key pad system . Probably sounds like no big deal but if it’s not what you’re expecting it’s not clear . The room itself was ok , generally clean although the mugs were sticky and dusty and the shower tray had seen better days , This hotel is on the high street so there is the noise from the bars and a fair amount of traffic up and down . There is parking out the front but all the bays were full so we used the free car park over the road . Breakfast was lovely and it’s clearly a popular spot with the locals , and the staff in the breakfast area were really helpful . There is a quirkiness to this hotel it’s just a shame there were a few things that let it down

Clean room. Easy but key free access. We stayed for 3 nights, 4 days and asked for a towel change and were told we would get one but we didn't. As the place isn't staffed we had to use old towels. Shame because, had it not been for this, we would have gu en it a 5 out of 5. I don't think it unreasonable to get a towel change particularly when they said we would.
