Plug socket hanging off with label on wall saying unsafe, child could still put fingers in. Bed very used, too warm and traffic noise from road bad. No breakfast available and never advised on booking

Not a good experience. Woken at 3:30 am by someone trying to get in to our room and then the next night by fire alarm at 3am. Pillows wore about 1 inch thick and no extra ones in room. No bed side light. Black mould in bathroom. Car park of a good size with well sized spaces.

Great budget hotel - it was clean and tidy but little things like ripped towels, the heating wasn’t working so we had a fab heater but that was noisy. The cups are thimble size, nice mugs would be better. The bed was clean but not the most comfortable. Great budget stay and perfectly adequate for our needs.

When you check in let customer know where to find staff or have a bell . Don’t advertise free WiFi as you don’t get it . (Room 9 ) Move the skip to the end of the carpark not as your view from your room also clear all the rubbish around . Mattress does not cover the frame and you keep basing your legs against the wood . Your reception area needs a good clean and sort out . Posters saying due to Covid 19 we don’t do breakfast . Just say we don’t do breakfast now . The only good part was the staff . Very frendly and helpful especially the lady checking us in

Very basic hotel next to dual carriage way so noisy. Restaurant at hotel was very good (Sambuca chain of restaurants) … but didn’t do breakfasts. Room was cold and central heating not working but the staff quickly brought a heater to my room. Cheap and cheerful hotel.

Stayed here for one night. Relatively clean but room was desperate for an update. Bed was stained around base and off the supports at bottom. Spiders and webs in the room corners. Socket where kettle set up was broken. Room was facing main motorway so noisy all night and no sound proofing windows. Car parking at hotel reception area surrounded by over flowing bin units and discarded old furniture. Staff were friendly enough though.

Plug socket in room was broken and just had a sign above saying do not use. A child could still put a finger inside and get an electric shock ! No breakfast available, room dated and hot. Couldnt turn radiator off so seat all night. Sheets dirty.

I think its my 3rd visit to the Windmill The floorboards are creaky, the phone signal is really awful. (But that does have a positive, no disturbances) Its a lovely little place to stay! The staff are fantastic. It's spotlessly clean. The restaurant is great, too much choice and very, very tasty. Although it's right on the A19 its peacefully quiet. A cracking little place that's quirky and does exactly what is says on the tin. Cheap n cheerful 😊

The restaurant was brilliant. Beds comfy. Unfortunately there was black mould on the ceiling. And there was some sort of drainage outside the window so it wasn't the best view and smell. The price was very reasonable though so I guess you get what you pay for.

The bedroom was very clean. Bathroom needed lots of tlc - especially the mirrors but it all worked. Only three (poor quality) pillows - it’s a double room, surely 2 pillows each! There were two teacups, one very big one very small. Only one milk supplied. Kettle had water in it. No-one on reception - had to go and find someone in the restaurant. Staff and restaurant were lovely.

First given a room with either chocolate or something trodden into the carpet. I then was given another room no towels no lamp no shower gel ect. Only a almost empty liquid soap , toilet had never seen bleach. The unmanned reception had the phone ringing constantly on loud speaker even woken early hours to the phone constantly ringing. Never again. However the restaurant food was absolutely spot on , absolutely brilliant. I'd definitely go back for food but not to stay over.

The staff were lovely but the place is really run down, bathroomfull of mold and the shower curtains to small. Towels stank. Only 2 pillows for a double bed. Nobody there during the night. For 99 pound I'd thought it would be good. Wifi is rubbish, skid marks in the toilet, didn't even have a shower. Like I say staff were lovely. Restaurant must take enough to do the rooms up. Wouldn't come back! Would for food 👌

Room was a bit dated but very clean and tidy. The bathroom needed updating.but that was very clean too. The towels wree very good quality, overall for the price we paid it was ŵorth it.

The food/staff and drinks were AMAZING!! Will 100% be back to use the restaurant. The hotel part could be equally as good with a little investment. The beds are awful. So uncomfortable and squeak and creak with every breath you take! The room was tidy and clean but very tired. Towels had holes in them. And the doors were very loud when they closed. Very loud. Definitely recommend the restaurants. And even the hotel but bear in mind the beds are not great.

Nice enough hotel, a little tiredaround the edges. The main problem for me was the wifi was not brilliant, i could not attach large files on emails and watchinf a film was lagging all the time.

There was very little staff presence. Took ages to go and find someone to check in. The room and bathroom were clean but the previous guests takeaway rubbish was in the cupboard in the room which stunk the room out. No one was around to check us out so we just left. I guess you get what you pay for.

First room had issues however quickly sorted and swapped into a new room. For £60 it was as expected - ok for a business type stay but not somewhere to stay for a romantic break...

Nothing to like but lack of staff at reception waited 20 minutes to check in not enough pillows and ones we had were flat as if no pillows only 2 hand towels not enough toilet roll had to ask for more in morning from staff member found in pub kitchen area vapeing and playing on phone and that was no good he couldn't find any so had to visit bar area toilets to get a roll out of date milk pots in the room and positioning of toilet roll dispenser meant you had to sit sideways on toilet and view from window was old disused fridges and old chairs need rectifying as won't be staying again very poor

Arrived to no receptionist and had to ask in the restaurant. Found out they don’t serve breakfast anymore even though it says in info that it does. The rooms are very tired but clean enough, there were 13 plug sockets so can’t complain about that and there was no milk on the hospitality tray. Evening meal was fantastic but felt a little rushed.

Plug socket hanging off with label on wall saying unsafe, child could still put fingers in. Bed very used, too warm and traffic noise from road bad. No breakfast available and never advised on booking

I think its my 3rd visit to the Windmill The floorboards are creaky, the phone signal is really awful. (But that does have a positive, no disturbances) Its a lovely little place to stay! The staff are fantastic. It's spotlessly clean. The restaurant is great, too much choice and very, very tasty. Although it's right on the A19 its peacefully quiet. A cracking little place that's quirky and does exactly what is says on the tin. Cheap n cheerful 😊

The room was clean alltho the noise of traffic from A19 was noisy would benefit from triple glazing . No breakfast that was a little disappointing

Not a good experience. Woken at 3:30 am by someone trying to get in to our room and then the next night by fire alarm at 3am. Pillows wore about 1 inch thick and no extra ones in room. No bed side light. Black mould in bathroom. Car park of a good size with well sized spaces.

When you check in let customer know where to find staff or have a bell . Don’t advertise free WiFi as you don’t get it . (Room 9 ) Move the skip to the end of the carpark not as your view from your room also clear all the rubbish around . Mattress does not cover the frame and you keep basing your legs against the wood . Your reception area needs a good clean and sort out . Posters saying due to Covid 19 we don’t do breakfast . Just say we don’t do breakfast now . The only good part was the staff . Very frendly and helpful especially the lady checking us in

The restaurant was brilliant. Beds comfy. Unfortunately there was black mould on the ceiling. And there was some sort of drainage outside the window so it wasn't the best view and smell. The price was very reasonable though so I guess you get what you pay for.

Very basic hotel next to dual carriage way so noisy. Restaurant at hotel was very good (Sambuca chain of restaurants) … but didn’t do breakfasts. Room was cold and central heating not working but the staff quickly brought a heater to my room. Cheap and cheerful hotel.

Stayed here for one night. Relatively clean but room was desperate for an update. Bed was stained around base and off the supports at bottom. Spiders and webs in the room corners. Socket where kettle set up was broken. Room was facing main motorway so noisy all night and no sound proofing windows. Car parking at hotel reception area surrounded by over flowing bin units and discarded old furniture. Staff were friendly enough though.

Overall the stay was good however just a couple of points 1: had to wait at reception although the restaurant was busy; 2: couldn't fill the kettle from the sink had to use the bath; 3: lack of extra pillows only one extra we did ask but non given and 4: coat hangers in the wardrobe Excellent food in the restaurant and all staff were very friendly and polite

Excellent vibrant restaurant, staff were very good. Food was excellent with a wide range of steaks, pizzas are fresh made fish dishes surf & turf, muscles & king prawns etc. Really efficient staff I was impressed 👍

Arrived to no receptionist and had to ask in the restaurant. Found out they don’t serve breakfast anymore even though it says in info that it does. The rooms are very tired but clean enough, there were 13 plug sockets so can’t complain about that and there was no milk on the hospitality tray. Evening meal was fantastic but felt a little rushed.

Dreadful noise all night so much so left at 11-15 pm to drive 120 miles to get some sleep - response from property to hotels.com was that the hotel was quiet Believe it was probably staff making the most noise Dirty towels in bathroom on arrival Poor accommodation & level of cleaning overall

Terrible check in, no staff on reception, had to go and find someone, had to give my name 3 times as did not understand, then just left and someone else came after another wait. Room was basic, only half the lights in the ceiling worked, but was very uncomfortable and noisy, and floors creaked, going to the bathroom woke each other up as floor was so noisy, bed was small and mattress hard, and only 1 thin pillow, a restaurant is attached which seemed very popular, but noisy and staff were more interested in that than the room side of things. There was rubbish under the window, and there were curtains and no netting, so had to close curtains straight away for privacy. Checked out and again no staff on reception so just left key on desk, I would not recommend and won’t stay again

No real bar area to be honest so that was a bit strange. We stayed on a Monday for work and the place was absolutely packed with dining customers. It’s 15 mins to Hartlepool so you’re pretty much trapped here to eat. Food looked really good but we choose to go out elsewhere as it was that busy

If you are travelling South on the A19 and you want to have a sleepover without hunting about back roads, then The Windmill is a good option. It is reasonably priced and the attached restaurant serves a variety of food (many Italian dishes). The food and libations are not expensive. The Property has a huge car park.
