The manager provided exceptional service - and this was for a facility that was offering a code to self-serve your check-in. We were advised about bus routes into Bath (there is a congestion toll for drivers) which were very close by, the breakfast was very well priced with excellent service provided, we were allowed to leave our car after checkout until the afternoon, the road is a little busy for walking but the room was quiet and spacious.

Didn’t see a human being the whole time I was there. Checked in myself, nobody around even though the bumph says someone will greet you, left without seeing anyone at 8.15am. Decor very tired. Door falling off wardrobe, lock falling off the door. Bed comfy enough and the price was low for. Agh so I worked for the 13 hours I needed to be there. Tea and coffee making facilities good.

Amenities were okay for a one-night stay. Staff responded very quickly to all of my enquires before checking in and the check-in was very straightforward and easy to follow. A bonus for this hotel is that they provide parking.

Only rated condition to warn you that this is a vintage property with vintage furnishings. For me that is a positive! It was just lovely and historic. Great to have ample parking in Bath. Just be aware it is a single narrow driveway, second on the north if coming off the A46, by the time you see it you are past. So go slow! It is very hard to turn around on those streets. (The very first entrance to some parking behind a low stone wall IS NOT the hotel!) Take the drive immediately east and go up the hill. Breakfast wasn’t huge but included everything that should be in a continental so a pleasant surprise. Not a lot within walking distance but there is a good grocery store less than a mile away (Morrisons) and bus service is good in Bath. I had to travel to Bath unexpectedly because of a family emergency and this was a great place to land, very reasonable and with great character.

Was obviously nice once but now very run down. Staff friendly, free parking. Bus stop very close and best way of getting into the city. Also a short walk. Breakfast is best avoided, recommend Cosy Club in the city, it was also cheaper! You get what you pay for here and it is comparatively cheap. The photos on the website were obviously taken in a better era or heavily edited, they do not portray the premises as it is now. If you just want a cheapish room within easy distance of the city then this is ok.

When we arrived the door to our room had a programmed key pad which was not working properly and would not respond to the codes we entered. The one staff person who was there dismissively tried to help us and had to call his boss to find out how to circumvent the locking system on the door. The man he called had no solutions, so the young male person who was helping us, used force to bust into the room. He was then able to fix the locking mechanism and instructed us not to use the dead bolt lock that was operated from the inside of the room. There was no signage in the room to indicate that no one should use the dead bolt lock. So we did not feel safe. The carpet in the hotel looked filthy and the place had a musty smell. It took 30 minutes to get into our room.

It had a quiet garden and was set well back off the road; good parking. The manager was mostly helpful and considerate. Breakfast was very good. Did not like not being able to access the fridge, or oven when the lift-up bed was down. There were no cooking or eating utensils.

Friendly, helpful staff. Room was clean, good bed and shower although some furniture and flooring was very worn. Can't comment on breakfast as I had to leave early. Overall a reasonable stay.

To whom it may concern I did not enjoy my stay last night and I will leave a review for you and I will be writing to hotels.com also to register my dissatisfaction with the following; Unclean room. Damp room with a piece of paper covering this. Tatty and well worn Furniture and carpet. Mirror dirty spots on it and is cracked. One towel not fresh, blank marks on it. Shower not fit sit purpose, too hot as temperature control did not work, I have to get out of the shower snd washed mr hair in the sink this morning. In addition as not secured to the wall properly. Sink plug home blocked easily and then gurgled when taking time to drain. TV stand leg broken. I arrived after 9pm last night and left at 6.30am so no time this morning when I discovered the main faults of the shower facilities etc. to report them. This is to list the main complaints: I would like to hear your reply and justification for the sub-standard room and lack of cleanliness. I very unhappy customer.

It felt more like staying in grandma's basement than a hotel. There were spiders in the corners, broken tiles in the bathroom. Room was cold and heating was not working. Overall we had a terrible experience.

This room should not be available for rent. It was difficult to breathe, probably due to mold. Bugs were crawling en masse on the floor, and moths were swirling in the air. I’m not picky, but I didn’t want to stay there—my daughter preferred to sleep in the car, and my wife, who has asthma, couldn’t breathe properly. In the end, we got a hotel room instead, so we only spent about an hour in this miserable room. At best, I would recommend using it as a bike shed.

Pictures on website did not match reality. The room was dirty, holes in the bedding, ripped curtains a disgustong stained chair. Single pained glass window which dod nothing to keep the sound of road works out at 2am. Could only stay 2 out of the 3 nights it was eas that bad. We kept noticing more and more things wrong with the room. Dissapointed as from the outside, Bailbrook lodge was beautiful

Situated out of Bath city centre close to Bathampton and high has a beautiful gastropub. Property a little tired from the outside due to its age. Lovely superior room, four poster bed, spotlessly clean, white sheets and thick towels. Carpet threadbare near the window but didn’t detract from the cleanliness. Shower head could do with descaling. Adequate continental breakfast and owners very pleasant.

I was greeted by the manager of the hotel who was friendly and was also friendly and accommodating throughout my stay. I had an issue with the shower which was dealt with efficiency. The room was novice and the Bed was very comfy. I would add that there was mould on one of the walls and the wall paper was coming away and mould in the bathroom, also under the toilet seat was damaged. All of these things are easy to fix and would make the room more appealable.

The host was kind, however the stay was horrible. We were put in a basement that had no airflow, smelled musty, and the windows were cracked. The furniture was ripped and dirty, trash was left in the room and the shower was rusted out and had mold. I’m not sure what happened, but the fire alarm also went off temporarily at 4 in the morning.

We thought the rooms were lovely, the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was very good. The shower was a bit slow and the sink isnt in the bathroom, but it was all fine. The location to Bath was very good, a 30 minute walk, with a bus stop close by.

Beautiful building on a nice location. Staff very friendly. Beautiful bedroom with antique furniture including a (comfy) oak four-poster bed. Sadly, the ensuite was also fairly antiquated: getting the shower to temperature required a combination of regular mechanically-sympathetic tweaking of the controls, and some appropriate utterances to the minor deities of plumbing. Bring your own toiletries or prepare to be frustrated by tiny tear-open packets, which provide the opposite of the eco-friendly credentials they claim. No aircon in the room, either, so expect it's hot in summer! Breakfast offering fairly weak - for the price, I would rather go to a local cafe.

Bath is gorgeous and we had a lovely time. These were the best beds and pillows of our whole 2-week trip around the UK! The family suite is in the basement, and consequently a little basement-like.

If you like faded colonial type hotels then Bailbrook Lodge is for you. I loved our huge Jane Austen suite with its fantastic four poster bed and wonderful curtains plus a lovely view. Personally the very worn carpet and slightly draughty window didn't bother me at all. If you want modern airtight luxury, you might need to go elsewhere and pay a lot more. Very friendly staff also. We would stay there again.

Great location and cheapest near expensive Bath. But the place is falling apart and needs a renovation. Sink and shower did not drain, shower handle breaking, water stains on ceiling, carpet old and stained, etc. Minor issues that together gives you the impression the place is not properly taken care off. Staff was nice and great location.

The manager provided exceptional service - and this was for a facility that was offering a code to self-serve your check-in. We were advised about bus routes into Bath (there is a congestion toll for drivers) which were very close by, the breakfast was very well priced with excellent service provided, we were allowed to leave our car after checkout until the afternoon, the road is a little busy for walking but the room was quiet and spacious.

Great little hotel in fantastic old Georgian villa. A bit quirky and individual in character. Fabulous personal service from the manager- welcoming and genuinely keen to make our stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Outside the city of Bath but very convenient to access the sites. The rooms we have stayed in tend to be the smaller ones but very clean and we are grateful

The hotel was very convenient for Bath city centre. It’s a bit outdated and could do with some modernisation. There was a shortage of staff but the existing staff tried their hardest to cover all the duties.

Didn’t see a human being the whole time I was there. Checked in myself, nobody around even though the bumph says someone will greet you, left without seeing anyone at 8.15am. Decor very tired. Door falling off wardrobe, lock falling off the door. Bed comfy enough and the price was low for. Agh so I worked for the 13 hours I needed to be there. Tea and coffee making facilities good.

Very welcoming, excellent staff, everything was clean but a bit old and tired looking. The manager went out of his way to be polite, helpful and seemed that he wanted us to have a great time.

This was such a lovely hotel. It is a little further out, but the bus stops right across the street and is a 10 minute drive to the Bath Abbey. You could also probably walk it in 30 minutes.

Amazing breakfasts - great choice. Really polite staff. Excellent location close to A46 to get back on to M4 quickly without having to get through traffic in Bath. Parking is very expensive in Bath but this hotel has free parking and it’s easily walkable into the centre of Bath. We will definitely book this hotel again.

Only thing against was that the reading lights beside the bed were not bright enough to read by. It is a long way from the centre of Bath on foot and that should be pointed out to guests who can catch a bus or find a taxi. ("near the M4 roundabout " would be useful directions).

When we drove up to the property, we thought, “What did we get ourselves into?” But then we found our room and it was splendid. The hotel is a bit outside the city center, but getting to the city center is walkable. There are sidewalks the full 1.9 miles, and there’s only one semi-dangerous traffic circle.

The hotel is about a 40 minute walk to the centre of town, but it’s an easy bus ride from a stop just outside the hotel. I parked my car and avoided the extortionate fees downtown. The lodge is in an historic building and it’s quite comfortable. Staff were very helpful in getting arrangements done. It’s a cold breakfast, but a filling one, with good coffee.

A very lovely period hotel set amongst a beautiful garden. Convenient for trips around the Bath area without the worry of parking in central Bath when you return. Just under a 2 mile walk to Roman Baths, but there are other sights not much more than a mile away, and there is a nice walk in via the the canal to the centre.

I would never recommend this hotel. Our room was on the 3rd floor, no elevator and the room was shocking. Worn and dilapidated. There is no one to talk to, no lobby or anyone working there. we only saw one person ( very friendly) who was doing breakfast which was £8 continental (pretty dismal) or £15 for hot breakfast which we never had. The reviews gave it a rating of 8.8, but if you look, that number was from years ago. The shower drizzles out and you have to run it for ages before you get hot water. Once that came in it was fine. Again, we could not wait to get out of there.

Comfortable, if a bit shabby in places, but this added to its charm. Easy bus access to Bath city centre. Good freshly cooked breakfast. Will certainly use again when next visiting Bath.

A fabulous little gem of a hotel in a charming historic building. Staff is wonderful especially Vipin and Parth. Very clean and comfortable. Eggs Benedict for breakfast was amazing. The full English breakfasts looked good too.

This property has seen better days, poor decorative order. The breakfast options were very poor... white bread, luncheon meat, packet chocolate croissant and cornflakes; in 2024? Really? Very disappointed. The lone member of staff was very friendly and helpful.

Lovely people but no heating on and the shower was freezing. When we arrived we were informed there was only cereal and toast for breakfast and not the English as advertised

Great two nights away. Whilst the decor is quite dated, it adds to the charm of the property. The service was amazing. Breakfast was really good, all cooked to perfection. The eggs Benedict was really good! Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

It had a quiet garden and was set well back off the road; good parking. The manager was mostly helpful and considerate. Breakfast was very good. Did not like not being able to access the fridge, or oven when the lift-up bed was down. There were no cooking or eating utensils.

The whole place is neglected, I chose it because it looked charming and had character, wish I had read reviews on trip advisor first. No kerb appeal and looks like a building site, nothing like photos. Small shabby room, peeling wall paper, sun bleached pictures on walls, evidence of water damage on walls, flaking paintwork, three bulbs missing in bathroom lights. The room had a slip bath, so couldn’t have a proper shower, which coped with for one night. Very uncomfortable bed, saggy mattress. Neglected back garden area. Breakfast ok, but where do you get given toast with nothing but butter to spread on it?! Manager was very helpful and hospitable, seems to be doing the best he can in this run down old place, which with a bit of money and TLC could be very nice. Warning bit far to walk to city, if no car will need bus or taxi. We stayed on a Friday night and wouldn’t have called it cheap £138 without breakfast. We stay in Bath often and know this did not present good value, don’t think I will be venturing outside the trusted box next time.

Linda casa com estilo e charme apesar de sua história, decoração tipica de epoca mas com muito espaço e conforto no quarto, banheiro limpo e wifi excelente alem de ter estacionamento e boa localização. Funciona como B&B mas com codigo eletronico para entrar e excelente comunicação por zap e email. Experiência em família unica e maravilhosa.

The property is extremely old and needs a proper renovation in my opinion - carpet is dirty with some stains, the bathroom tub has visible mold, and there was a constant water dripping noise from the toilet all night. Windows are damaged with broken glass and could not be securely locked, which we felt unsafe. Heating didn’t work properly, making it freezing in the morning. The beds are very soft, but compared to other things this is not a big issue. There was no front desk or staff available, so we couldn’t report issues or request a room change. We arrived late in the evening with kids, there was no way that we could find an alternative that day, hence decided to stay anyway. Not recommended!
