Very courteous and friendly staff. Check-in easy. We were phoned a few days earlier to ask if we would like to reserve a table for dinner as they were filling up fast; this was welcome and unexpected. Good food. Beautiful hanging floral displays outside. Spacious room with its own front door. Powerful shower, good welcome pack. The only gripe is the tv had some very odd channels on it. We were very impressed with this hotel and hope to return next year. Good location for exploring.

What a fantastic hotel - my only moan was that it was very dark in the breakfast dog friendly area. We will definitely be back, Wilson (cocker spaniel) had a wonderful stay too, spoilt by all his treats, toys and bedding options ♥️

I love the Bear hHotel. Have stayed there many times over 25 years and have had friends and family stay there as well. Extremely professional staff: efficient, helpful and knowledgeable. Beautiful garden for drinks and meals. The Bear is Neat,, Clean, Tidy and full of character and historical interest. 5 stars.

Gorgeous place. Looks fab as you drive up to the hotel and you are not disappointed when you go inside either. really friendly and helpful staff. great atmosphere in the bar food very varied, well presented and yummy! our double room was great too. situated in a little courtyard surrounded by stunning flowers and hanging baskets. 10 out of 10

Its a very old building full of character. The garden and flower boxes were amazing. The town is lovely and the area is beautiful with towering hills on both sides and the River Usk running past the town. Food and atmosphere very good.

We regularly eat at The Bear, as we love the food, but this was our first time to stay. The room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. As always, the service in the restaurant was excellent and the food was delicious. Our waiter, Hi-Man was most attentive.

Had delux room but not as impressed as the first stay with delux room it was abit hit and miss Room ok :/ did sleep well First stay nice condiments water biscuits cake and spa bath absolutely amazing large space in room looking out towards high st felt luxurious Second stay Normal bath Not really delux bath was chipped also basin cracked in room. No cold water or cake left which adds a nice touch Just tea coffee ok biscuits Staff were lovely kind and friendly always happy to help. Great food and service lovely surroundings in this amazing eccentric historical building.

Arrived to wonderful welcome from Tracy.Third floor room allocated mentioned difficulty wiith stairs immediate upgrade to court yard ground floor room .Could not find fault at any level , food ,cleanliness, cant wait to go back .A wonderful example to Welsh Tourism Pat &Pete

lovely traditional pub, room was lovely had everything we needed, pillows were amazing, bed a little soft for my preference, bathroom clean and very nice spec. breakfast was nice, good quality produce. staff were very friendly and helpful. i would definitely return for another stay.

Incredibly warm welcome, and lovely service. The room was perfect, with a very comfy bed and a very tasty dinner to top it off!

Arrived to wonderful welcome from Tracy.Third floor room allocated mentioned difficulty wiith stairs immediate upgrade to court yard ground floor room .Could not find fault at any level , food ,cleanliness, cant wait to go back .A wonderful example to Welsh Tourism Pat &Pete

Very courteous and friendly staff. Check-in easy. We were phoned a few days earlier to ask if we would like to reserve a table for dinner as they were filling up fast; this was welcome and unexpected. Good food. Beautiful hanging floral displays outside. Spacious room with its own front door. Powerful shower, good welcome pack. The only gripe is the tv had some very odd channels on it. We were very impressed with this hotel and hope to return next year. Good location for exploring.

Another great stay at The Bear. I love it because it has a lot of character and it’s interesting. The rooms and nice and comfortable and the restaurant serves really delicious food (I had the beef short rib). It’s also really conveniently located in Crickhowell with most other interesting places within walking distance. Lastly, all the staff I spoke to were really friendly and accommodating. Definitely worth a visit.

Its a very old building full of character. The garden and flower boxes were amazing. The town is lovely and the area is beautiful with towering hills on both sides and the River Usk running past the town. Food and atmosphere very good.

We regularly eat at The Bear, as we love the food, but this was our first time to stay. The room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. As always, the service in the restaurant was excellent and the food was delicious. Our waiter, Hi-Man was most attentive.

Lovely old former coaching inn. We were upgraded and enjoyed a beautiful spacious room with old stone fireplace, leather armchairs and half tester bed. We stayed during very hot weather and a small portable air conditioning unit would have made the room more comfortable. There was a very small fan but it was totally ineffective and the bedroom window would not open, although the bathroom one did. We ate dinner in the restaurant with an extensive menu and very tasty food (the pannacotta and excellent service. Breakfast was good, service not quite as attentive.

Fabulous stay in a traditional hotel with lovely atmosphere and fabulous food. We stayed in a cosy double at the front of the hotel which was perfectly adequate for a 1 night stay. Room was immaculately clean and well presented, nice furnishings with complimentary tea,coffe ,hot chocolate and shortbread biscuits. Bathroom was very small but again spotlessly clean and adequate. Food was exceptional - we had evening meal and breakfast - good quality, testy and reasonably priced. Staff were wonderful - helpful, polite and professional. Can't wait to go back.

Excellent food and drinks. Staff were all very helpful. Dined in the bar which was a bit busy. Would probably book the restaurant if we stayed again. Bedroom was lovely. A little pricey compared to rooms of a similar standard we've stayed in but that's probably down to the popularity of the hotel.
