Castle Po'ipū Shores

This property has an amazing location! If you want Oceanfront, you get oceanfront! The beach access to Brennecke’s and Poipu beach was a short walk. They had an access gate that allowed quicker access to it. It was about 30 minutes from tubing and kayak excursions and the same to the Waimea port. We had great communication and easy check-in and check-out. We did arrive after 4pm but had no issues with after hours check-in. The main reason I had to give it 4 stars was because there was construction going on in the unit above us the last 2 days we were there. It was extremely loud banging that went on for over 2 hours after we return from our excursion. We were able to leave the first day but the second day was frustrating because my husband got seasick on the Nepali coast snorkeling cruise and needed to sleep. That didn’t happen. We would definitely return to this property but the construction definitely was disappointing considering the amount of money we paid for this week stay.

Only one bedroom has aircondition

Positives: The condo was RIGHT on the ocean shore. It was a stunning view, with sightings of turtles and even dolphins. The pool was nice and the front desk staff let us check in early and were kind. The kitchen had what we needed and there were plenty of extra pillows and blankets. Negatives: The condo was pretty outdated and had a lot of sea salt damage, so rusted lamps, mirrors, handles, etc. The condo was also not very clean. Our feet were filthy after a few hours of walking barefoot in the unit. The master bedroom/bathroom smelled like urine. One of the linen closets also smelled terrible. We booked the unit for six people, but it was not big enough to accommodate six. One king bed, two twins, and a small pullout. One of my kids had to use the couch cushions to sleep on. The couches and chairs were pretty aged and didn’t smell or look clean. BIG WARNING: you will be charged almost $500 in cleaning and taxes, in addition to what you thought you were going to pay. Be prepared.

Best ocean view of any of the locations we have ever stayed at in Kauai. Great room and location.

We booked a two bedroom, two bath unit. Before arriving I received an email stating that the two bedroom was no longer available. I replied with a follow up question which went answered. When we arrived, we discovered the only bedroom faced the parking lot-not the ocean. Had we known this, we likely would have cancelled our reservations. The unit itself was a bit dirty. Housekeeping was very helpful though and did supply a mop at my request. The box spring looks like a crime scene. It’s stained with a dark red material. The kitchen lacks some of the essentials.
