The staff were friendly but the room was very tired. Whilst the bed was very comfy, the shower was mouldy and didn't work. The carpets were coming up at the corners and the whole room needed some tlc. There were bulbs missing from light fixtures and one of the windows wouldnt stay open due to the rope being broken. If you want more than basic this isn't for you. But we felt welcomed and slept well. Its a good location and the free car parking was a bonus for town centre.

Appreciated cost of the public car park was covered by the hotel. And the guy who checked me in was friendly, but he didn’t ask my name or anything just handed me a key and front door card - I could have been anybody so would recommend formalising process. I just felt the quality of the access/room and overall accommodation experience and usability elements weren’t as good as they could be: Building and bedroom interior was quite old and could do with a refurbishment to doors, bathroom and bed in particular. Door key was quite tricky to unlock and get key back out as kept getting stuck. Would be better to have keyless access to rooms. Single bed felt smaller than others I’ve slept in, which wasn’t comfortable to lie in as an adult. Lots of hotels use slightly larger singles to increase comfort so would recommend purchasing those or using a standard double even for single occupancy. I’m not particularly tall but my feet poked out off end of bed with a duvet that was badly fitted into the cover (excess material 2feet or so). Could have done with an extra pillow or different sizes offered so people can choose their optimal neck height. TV signal wasn’t great on lots of channels. Any slight movement in the room or lying in the bed and the display would distort - had to keep shifting position of tv to get picture/sound. Back external access door to the hotel wasn’t in operation which meant had to walk from car park round front of building- wasn’t ideal with luggage in the rain.

Appalling, only thing clean was bedding, boiling water coming from both hot and cold taps, trip hazzard from bathroom to bedroom re carpet away from floor. No kitchen facilities on site although was advertised for breakfast. Cleaning staff friendly and helpful. Apart from when we checked in there was never anyone around at reception so nobody to voice our complaints to. We were booked for a 3 night stay but left very early after one night to move to another hotel., didnt even unpack!! We would not have stayed that one night if we could have booked another hotel but it was bank holiday weekend and everywhere was booked up.

After we checked in the guys on reception kindly carried our heavy cases to the top of the building, room 17 is up a narrow staircase. The building is very old. The room slopes in many directions but was spacious with a super-king bed, the bathroom was also very large but it was impossible to stand in the bath/shower as it was under a sloping roof. Our pillows had no pillow protectors & were heavily stained a foul yellow colour from sweat. The bed didn’t have a mattress protector either. We showed the guys on reception our unsavoury pillows & asked for new pillows or at least pillows that were clean - they didn’t have any so they gave us extra pillow cases. As the town was booked out we had no choice but to go with this. It really is totally unacceptable to have such low standards of cleanliness, this hotel really needs to lift its game. Would we stay again - NO!!!

Have stayed here a few times & it is clear that a lot of money is being invested as it gets slowly better every time. The staff are always friendly & very helpful. hotel is old but comfortable & clean. Look forward to returning when more food is available.

My initial impressions were OK, I couldn’t get WiFi in my room and was upgraded without any fuss. My new room was large and the bed very comfortable. It was, however, very hot and the window opened but didn’t stay open and I had to use a hanger to keep it open. The fan provided rattled off of the side and was too noisy to use. The bathroom was spacious and looked clean but the tap dripped constantly and the tiles were lifting off of the floor. I could have forgiven all this but on my last night the experience I had was, in my opinion, unforgivable II couldn’t get the key to open the main door. I was stuck on a busy road, with lots of drunk revellers and I was a solo female. I called the number on the door and the man that arrived was very rude. He tried my key and of course it worked, and he accused me of being rude! The look on his face was extremely intimidating and made me more nervous than I was when stuck outside. I tried to apologise but he continued to be aggressive. I understand that I was at fault but it was 11.45pm and I was flustered, he was on call and presumably it is part of his job to help customers, even if they are stupid!

I’ve stayed at this property multiple times and never had a major issue. However, on this occasion I spent 2 nights without any hot water and therefore no ability to wash. I mentioned to reception after the first night, expecting it to be resolved but it was not. I was told to email them after the second night to discuss compensation and whilst the beginning of the conversation was good it amounted to very little. I was promised “head office” would be in touch to resolve the situation, which didn’t happen. Rather than any compensation I was then offered a discount on my next nights stay, totalling a measly £11 discount, which felt like a further insult after not being able to wash for 3 days. Steer clear at all costs!

Our room overlooked the market square. The windows were not double glazed and the noise from the square was dreadful all night. Drunks arguing and swearing and noisy cars. It was very difficult to get any sleep. We had a drink in the bar in the evening and we were the only ones there, except for a couple of staff members that seemed to be having a big disagreement about something.

My initial impressions were OK, I couldn’t get WiFi in my room and was upgraded without any fuss. My new room was large and the bed very comfortable. It was, however, very hot and the window opened but didn’t stay open and I had to use a hanger to keep it open. The fan provided rattled off of the side and was too noisy to use. The bathroom was spacious and looked clean but the tap dripped constantly and the tiles were lifting off of the floor. I could have forgiven all this but on my last night the experience I had was, in my opinion, unforgivable II couldn’t get the key to open the main door. I was stuck on a busy road, with lots of drunk revellers and I was a solo female. I called the number on the door and the man that arrived was very rude. I’ve stayed at this property multiple times and never had a major issue. However, on this occasion I spent 2 nights without any hot water and therefore no ability to wash. I was promised “head office” would be in touch to resolve the situation, which didn’t happen. Steer clear at all costs!

Hotel Inspector would’ve had a field day with this one. Weird little staircase to rooms (unsuitable if you have mobility issues) Dirty room with ill fitting carpet, dirty, stained bathroom, I especially regretted lifting up the toilet brush to use it. Windows don’t fit so it’s drafty and they didn’t lock - room leads to a fire escape so someone could have easily broken in from outside. Staff didn’t speak good English, but they did manage to convey that front door would be locked from 10pm and that I could use my room key to open it. I immediately knew that wasn’t going to work (I did try and fail at 9.50pm) so I opened my window and literally clambered back in, essentially breaking in to my own room. Classic!

Don’t do it!! I stayed here before and thought I’d give it a second chance, big mistake. It’s called a hotel but when I went to bed around 9.30 I couldn’t even hear my tv from the noise at the bar. The hotel was basic and good value for money. Beds were comfy and the room clean. We had an evening meal in the restaurant, there was a very limited menu, but what we had was excellent value for money just wished there had been more choice. Breakfast was lovely we only had the small breakfast but we felt there was plenty of it. Staff are so friendly and we felt at home from the minute we walked in. All trying very hard to make sure we had all our needs met.

Have stayed here a few times & it is clear that a lot of money is being invested as it gets slowly better every time. The staff are always friendly & very helpful. hotel is old but comfortable & clean. Look forward to returning when more food is available.

Check in wasn’t the most pleasant experience. It did say the pub would be open until 10 or 11pm. I arrived on a Sunday around 9pm and the door was locked so I called the number on the door and explained and the person just hang up on me and then opened the door and said something that it’s Sunday and they close early. Didn’t have any breakfast so can’t comment on that. Room was what I expected and would like to come back.

Our room overlooked the market square. The windows were not double glazed and the noise from the square was dreadful all night. Drunks arguing and swearing and noisy cars. It was very difficult to get any sleep. We had a drink in the bar in the evening and we were the only ones there, except for a couple of staff members that seemed to be having a big disagreement about something.

We only stayed one night and unfortunately the chef was off the next morning so we did not have breakfast there. Also there is a night club very near and my partner heard a lot of noise from a crowd of girls coming out of the night club. Room was large and clean & the bed was comfortable though. There were a couple of small issues which we reported to reception (the loo took ages to fill up). Staff friendly & helpful and we would stay here again.

Externally the render and paintwork was cracked, blown or missing, the wooden sash windows were propped open with waste paper baskets, bottles of water and toilet rolls. Pot holes at car park entrance in unlit alleyway. Inside the building things really went down hill, kitchen had been recently shut without notice, small bar area for locals used to double up as reception desk. Stairwell and passage carpets smelling of stale dust with huge old cobwebs present in most areas. The room on the 2nd floor had no water pressure for a shower, no hot water in the sink (I had to boil the kettle for a shave and quick sink wash), massive crack in the ceiling, very noisy night times being unable to close the windows properly. Overhearing other guests queuing to complain to reception about the conditions, I asked a staff member if the building was under new ownership awaiting a major fire for the insurance. The building is so neglected throughout that even a £500,000 refurbishment wouldn’t cover the work required.

Whilst the location was perfect for me, I was only notified the day before I checked in that their restuarant was closed, which isn't great when you are travelling on your own. I stayed 3 nights and the only time I saw the cleaning staff was when I asked for some toilet paper, other than that, my room was never serviced. The area outside was like a building site and because the reception staff were around the corner from the door, it's not a welcoming place. The staff were polite enough when you spoke to them though.

The hotel seems like it on the brink of closure. No one staying there, no evening meals, no breakfast and no one on checkout. People just leave the key on the counter and there are bars on the doorways. Nice town. Parking for cars that aren't too tall.

The room was everything expected for a single, indeed it was quite large and bathroom was great with an excellent shower. Toiletries were provided and also a fan which was very welcome in this hot weather. The hotel is in a great location for Bicester rail station and is on town square so taxi are also right there and the bus "station" just a few yards away. The staff were very helpful and if asked anything were very happy to respond, The Hotel was ideal for my stay and extremely reasonable. I will certainly be staying there again when I go to visit my daughter.

Room 10, on the second floor, is up steep steps, has no insulation so was unbearably hot when we arrived. The window did not stay open unless we wedged it open with the bin. The bathroom door couldn't fully open as it hits the sink and the cold tap on the sink is not attached. A promised fan was never provided and two members of staff assured us we would be refunded. As the manager claims, via Hotels.com, that their policy is not to refund we remain out of pocket. It's a shame as the Kings Arms is well located in Bicester. I highly recommend avoiding until attitudes and standards improve

Very convenient for the shopping village, but google maps obviously taking everyone to the station. If driving, Go left past the front of the hotel to get there.

Location good BUT shower did not work and alternative of bath not functional either. This was particularly disturbing as preparing to attend a wedding reception! Staff advised, no action taken, no compensation offered.
