Colonial Inn Extended Stay by OYO New Ulm

The place is under a remodel.

It was great staff was great

Called them. Told no rooms. Later checked on Hotels.com app, said there were rooms. Booked 3 queen bed rooms. When we arrived, the property was a disaster. Parking lot full of construction debris, the front of all rooms was dirty and garbage everywhere with very unsavory people hanging around. Went to front desk to check in, door locked with a sign to call a number (no staff on premises). Called the number and the same woman answered as before and told me she was sorry but they didn't actually have the rooms available that we booked. I asked about the refund and she said her supervisor would have to that and he would call me back. We left and made other arrangements. When the supervisor called back, he did not want to give me a refund. He said he "moved people around" and now had the rooms. I don't know how, as the lot was full with vehicles and the woman already told me 2x that day they didn't have the rooms. It all sounded very suspicious and unprofessional. We did not go back. He also told me that under NO conditions was there going to be a refund. This is significant because I contested the charges today with Hotels.com, this owner told them I said I was coming back and that if I had told him I wasn't, he would have given us a refund, which are both LIES. Owner is scammy and scummy. The other hotel we ended up at said they are aware of this property and of it's bad rep. Hotels.com failed to recoup my money, thankfully my credit card company took care of it.

We had several issues.... No WIFI at check-in, system failure with repair date 5 days in the future. Not so bad for just Wifi, but it took down the TV system as well. After 1st shower, faucet could not shut the water off..... Solution was to turn water service off to shower. Other room was offered for showering, no rooms available to move to. Motel is currently under renovation, non of the units completed yet. Things will hopefully improve with the completion of that project. Our bed was very comfortable, and the furnishings were mostly clean and presentable. Our Manager was very personable and did her best to be helpful.

I love motels. It was like staying in a little cottage. The woman who checked me in was great and I'm definitely staying here again
